I loved this idea, so I tried it too. THANKS! I've lost a little more than a small bale of hay overall (51 pounds) and a cinderblock so far this year (34 pounds).

walrus - I think it's fantastic you've incorporated a way to eat the things you love into your diet! I'll bet it works out well for you in the long run. I do 2 week maintenance breaks every few months, and it's probably the only time I EVER eat fast food, but I end up not craving it again until the next break. Funny how the works.

I'm glad you liked the idea! It's not like we can see the weight we lose as a separate entity, so it's always fun to see what it means to have lost X amount of weight. Do you feel you can feel proud of yourself for losing a cinder block this year??

Congrats riestrella!

I work Admin Support right now and it's nice but I am actually making the change to being a substitute teachers assistant, for the flexibility while I am in college. I can't keep working full time and going to school part-time, or else I'll be in college until I'm 40!

thewalrus - Thanks, though congrats aren't in order just yet since I still don't know if I got the job! But I'm happy to finally get a few interviews, it can feel really demotivating to job search with no results. Are you doing a teaching course at college? I agree with you about planning on indulging rather than letting the water break the dam and binge eating. It still happens to me every so often, but it's a lot easier knowing there'll be one meal once in a while where I can eat unhealthy! You're right, junk food IS delicious, I don't think I could cut it out completely but I can definitely limit it now!

I tried googling "what weighs 12 pounds" and nothing came up. However! Apparently a bald eagle weighs 13 pounds, so I'm just going to go with I've lost most of a bald eagle, or, a sack of potatoes and then some.

Well apparently I've lost a two year old child. Pretty cool! Weight is still coming off pretty steadily since quitting diet soda. It's definitely the most consistent weight loss I've had so far. I saw 193.2 today. I really hope I reach 189 by the end of the year. That would be so nice.

I'm still stressing about work. I have this silly training to go to on friday, and I just don't want to. I feel so overwhelmed by everything right now. We just need this year and its stress to be over. I still haven't spoken with my Mom because she keeps texting me when I specifically told her not to. The situation with her is also stressing me out. i'm trying to find a way to let that go too. You would think that the process of taking stress out of your life would make things better, but honestly, trying to remove the "stress" of my mom has been crazy stressful for me. I just need to escape for a while, and so does my husband.

I will say, the weight loss helps, it's something that's going well, and that definitely helps. Also, sorry I've been so whiny lately, I'm trying to pick myself up, it's just been a really awful month all around. If we can get through xmas, everything will be much better.

So I have utterly failed to find myself a holiday dress so far. Everything I've tried that I've liked, has been either too big or too small. The stores keep being sold out in my size it's super frustrating.

riestrella - I am actually going to college for a double language major, with a minor in Speech Language Pathology. I intend to get my Master's in it as well, and while I am doing that I really would like to travel somewhere to teach English as a second language. It's definitely a good way to travel for longer periods of time without having to save a ton of money upfront.

But being a TA is flexible and schools often employ Speech Language Pathologists.

Once I have my minor I think I'd be able to apply to be a SLP's Assistant which will give me some experience in the field and I am hoping if I've worked for the school district long enough by then that applying for permanent employment will be smoother.

I have a lot of plans though and I am betting half of them will start how I imagined but end totally different and half of them will be replaced with better sounding plans. :P

Claygirl - No worries. Today at my doctor's appointment I requested to speak with one of the Behavioral Health Specialists they keep for each department and I just bawled my eyes out. This semester has been so hard and my body image dropped dramatically when my weight loss slowed, even though I was expecting that.

My boyfriend is homeless, I'm working a full-time job but I really desperately want to go back to full-time school, finances always seems to be just a little out of control and never quite where I need them to be. My father is switching jobs, my motivation for strength training is waning and I live at home with five other people.

I think the holidays are stressful no matter what though, and then at other times of the year there is always one thing we feel could be better but I think that's life. It's just a matter of making it through without seriously ruining anything very important to you.

I want to tentatively join this challenge. There have been some...really big upheavals in my life lately, and for the past few months I have not been watching my food or my weight much. Sadly, I piled on the pounds.

I seem to never finish these challenges, but they're really fun to do, so I figure I'll keep doing them.

I guess if I join now, I just pick up from this week?

I was glancing back a couple pages to kind of try and catch up with what's going on, and I noticed Riestrella's post about the PM she got about the top 20.

Personally, if I'm in the top 20, it's fun to see. If I'm not, I barely notice the update. Sometimes I check to see who's doing awesome, and that's fun. I don't feel that it is 'treating people unequally' at all. This is a challenge, and you can choose to be challenged by the top 20 or by your own standards, or both. That's what I always get from these challenges, anyway.

I think I was only ever in the top 20 once or twice, which was nice. I'm often not up that high, but it doesn't bother me too much. And heck, I rarely (if ever) finish one of these challenges, but while I'm participating I have a great time. They're so fun and awesome, and so I keep doing more of them.

I like the whole challenge, top 20 and all. I wouldn't change a thing, Reistrella.

Oh my goose, I had a pretty bad eating day yesterday (succumbed to some chocolate and had a pretty fatty dinner) but I dropped a pound!!! I'm 160 lbs, which means I'm ONE lb away from reaching my goal for this challenge as well as my mini goal of reaching the weight I was at when I was 17. Woohoo!

Last night I made a chicken katsu curry. It was a nightmare! It tasted ok in the end but the sticky rice that my Mum bought was just terrible. It stuck to the bottom of the pan and it just ended up being like rice pudding. The chicken was very unhealthy since it was fried in oil, but I made the curry sauce from scratch which was my favourite part.

Yesterday I made a youtube video, eep! I've been toying with the idea to start vlogging so I decided what the heck you only live once and went for it. It's a pretty boring introductory video, but if you fancy watching it just go to my blog (link in signature!).

-------------------

izzy - A bald eagle is a pretty epic object to have lost!

thewalrus - That's awesome, I taught in Japan for 2 years. I didn't want to be nor do I want to continue being a teacher, but it was a life changing experience. I imagine for people who actually know what to do it's frustrating because the school system is so messed up with the way they teach English over there. But Japan was definitely worth it!

claygirl - No worries, we all have to vent and you are completely justified in this situation to have a good talk about what's going on! Is there an option on your phone to block her number? Just until you sort your head out? Sorry she's still pestering you, but good for you for being strong and not replying. I think it's giving her something to think about. Congrats on such a steady loss! I'm so glad you're seeing such amazing results after making big changes, usually it takes a while for the body to react but your body seems to be loving the fact you're not drinking diet soda anymore!

Lianna - Welcome! Glad to see you!! Thank you so much for your support. Funnily enough the person posted in the forum, so it was there for everyone to see. Thankfully a few people came to my defense, which was so wonderful to see since I'm a bit of a worrier at times. I doubted myself and the top 20 for a second, but after thinking about it I know it's a great thing!! So don't worry, skittles, it's not going anywhere!

I had a lovely meal planned to make at home, something we always look forward to, but when the boyfriend suggested going out...well, I jumped on it. I have done SO much cooking this week and I'm sick of it! So I took the chicken that was marinating, put it in the freezer for an easy meal another day and we went to Ruby Tuesday's. I'm proud of myself for 1) not ordering beer and 2) while I treated myself to the mac and cheese (oh so good) the rest of my choices were very healthy (a 4oz sirloin steak and grilled zucchini). And the scale reflected that today. Woohoo! Just feeling really, really good this week. It actually looks like I could see a new low tomorrow based on my trends, which exceeds my expectations for this week! Saturday is my birthday, so it would be nice to start the day with good news.

Just gotta keep on track with endless celebrations from now until the end of the year.

underanalysis - Have you found a dress you like in store, in the wrong size, that you could order online in the correct size? Just a thought! Good luck!

Claygirl - I hope your training today goes better than expected. I wonder if there is a way you can set your phone to not alert you when your mom texts? Not block it, but just not pop up on your screen. I had to laugh when you said you lost a two year old child. Out of context, that sounds horrible! :P

Welcome Lianna!

Ries - Holy cow, you're doing awesome! You must be really excited to see your boyfriend at the holidays! Sorry your dinner didn't turn out well. Did your mom select the recipe and you cooked it? I've never had a fried chicken curry. Will have to check out the vlog when I'm not at work

underanalysis: have you considered having a dress altered? Or are you not finding anything even close to your size? That really stinks.
I had excellent luck shopping online when purchasing a dress for my husband's Christmas party (and a couple weddings). If I need something nice I usually shop at Nordstrom's because they have gorgeous plus size options (not your issue, obviously, lol) and great customer service.

---------------------

I'm kind of dumbfounded that someone would be that angry over the top 20. If you're that upset and insulted, I imagine it's because you're not IN the top 20, and who's fault is that? Oh yeah, NOT Ristrella's. Lordy.

So, since I'm falling back on my weightloss and I've got about 12 pounds to lose to meet goal (omgwtf!) I decided to put my PS3 and amazon account to good use and I've queued up about 22 different workout videos. Unfortunately nine are available for free streaming, but I can rent them for 2-7 days for $2-4. I'm going to just rent a bunch of different videos and do a different workout everyday, or mostly everyday anyway.
Depending on how well I stick with it, I may give up my gym membership in exchange for a daily burn subscription. Anyone use DB?
