new here
Hi everyone,
I am new here. I am 27 and am a school counselor. I have struggled with my weight loss my whole life. I am at my highest weight now and am getting married in June! Yikes! I am looking forward to getting and giving some support. I am starting to freak out about being "fat" at my wedding! I look forward to talk to you all. Amy |
Amy - please tell me if you are required to walk new kids out to the school bus you make this happen!!!????
LOL Sorry, had to ask!!!!! [read back a few posts to understand] WELCOME!!!!! What plan are you going to follow or are you still figuring this out? |
Feral- I'm not but only 10min from the base. I teach here and go to graduate school. As soon as grad school is done I will move back to Africa.
Skinnywish~ I did live there! Southern Africa (country called Botswana). I'm a little obsessed and love to talk about it. 2 years. I may move back this September. My bf (engaged to be engaged as African culture is different) is West African and lives in Ghana |
Air - that is so cool. Please feel free to tell us details cause we are a curious bunch!!!! Start with... Why you went to begin with and why there is an engagement prior to engagement. :)
|
So probably if I read all the posts (ladies I have been at work for 10hours I teach)---5 pages!!!!!! I could just post one long message!~ Let me try that.

I swear to God MTV is why everyone hates NJ. They pick Seaside Heights of all places. Its so trashy I wasn't even allowed to go there until I was 20 and it was like 40 minutes from my house.
Guidos are hysterical, but make up about 5% of the population. In the summer they're in Seaside and in the winter they're in Hoboken, where at any given moment you can get your eye punched out if Livin on a Prayer starts playing. I'm Italian, and I'm from NJ, and really...most of those people are just posers. Ahem. Sorry. /Jersey pride :) |
Feral: That is really ridiculous. If that would have been my kid I would be livid!
Princess: Welcome! Air: Yes very interested in the engaged to be engaged concept. I went to the gym tonight EEEE and I busted it with 45 minutes of cardio 30 minutes on the treadmill and then the last 15 on the bike and my muscles were burning way more on the bike. Did some stretching and a small amount of free weights. I am kinda proud of myself I went. I went to the store after workout, yeah thats a bad idea all around. I bought all healthy stuff but I spent waaaaaay too much money. |
Stella: Aww one of my very good friends is from Hoboken... and honestly until just now I didnt realize how trashy you dresses sometimes haha... in college she didnt dress the way she does now... I stalk her facebook sometimes... thats like where I live no one likes to admit they are from the "beach" because thats where all the trash use to be from...it happens
Air: When I went to Private school my friends and I sponsorded a little boy in Botswana... and one of my suitmates in college freshman year was from Ghana... small world but yes we all want to know why you wen to Africa in the first place :) Amy: Welcome Mary: you saying OC NJ made me think of OC MD... I went to college 40 minutes away... love the beach... Feral: Ugh you should just kick that lady haha... But that totally sucks..people on the bottom always get the short end of the stick... oh 3FC why cant I use bad words? I live on a sliver of land between the Chesapeake bay and Patuxent River... Nice calm water and delish crabs... but I would love to be close to the ocean |
Yea, like I can remember 5 pages of information and spit replies back out here!!!
Long Distance Relationships: My 2 serious relationships, counting the present were long distance with foreigners and I hate it!!!! I am ridiculously madly in love (don't barf) so I would like to walk in the door from work and see his face, touch him, talk to him, watch the way he stares at me, see that smile. ahhhh--sorry. Africa: Oooo my favorite topic, besides the bf. I went when I was 16 for a month mission trip and LOVED IT. Came back to America to go to school. Moved back for two years in Jan 06 to teach first grade and be the photographer for the organization Love Botswana. Came back here to get my MA in Early Childhood to start my own preschool. Missed it too much (bf there too) went to visit this summer for two months (shouldn't have left). Need to go back for good or until the bf and I wed and move over here. BF-Engagement~ In west Africa, you get engaged but the girl knows about it and then married 1day-1month later. So we talk and plan for a wedding as I give him guidance on things he has to do (Like we need a 2-3month engagement for travel plans). When it happens it will be fast and I know no matter what I will be marrying him soonish. His mom even calls me and that's a big deal. Go ahead ask whatever you want. Favorite topic as previously stated. |
Haley~ I went to private school K-12 and then college...unfortunately that private university killed me for grad school (I am now not learning anything in grad school as I learned it in under grad). Botswana is rooted deep in my heart, but Ghana is in there now too. Never been!

Air: when I switched to public school I never did any work and still got A's it was a joke to me after spending so much time in public school
|
Just thought I would mention.. I want Rebecca's amazing arms...however her hair is horrible
|
Feral - Yes, I'll send the link to you in a facebook message! Sorry, I just got in from going out to dinner!
Stella - Precisely! JERSEY PRIDE!! lol Amy - Welcome! We're here to help! Haley - Oooh I'd love to go to OC, MD my best friend goes once a year for vacations! It sounds lovely :D OC, NJ is very quaint and has a lovely beach and a great little town/small small city atmosphere. The shore houses there are goooorgeous! I get to hang out there a lot because that's where my boyfriend lives when he's not at his parents house :D Bee - yay gym! |
welcome amy!
oooh africa sounds amazing Air. My boyfriend was born in Zambia, and he still remember seeing elephants and lions and stuff. I am so jealous! |
Yeah OC, NJ and OC, MD are two totally different places. OC, NJ is a cute, quiet little town.
Hoboken isn't *that* bad. Its got more bars per mile than any city in the world - its actually in the Guinness book of world records - but its a fun place. There are many different kinds of bars, and they have cute boutiques. Its also very walkable (the whole mile of it). My favorite place to go there has odd age limits. To get in you must be 23 if you're a girl and 25 if you're a guy - it gets rid of a lot of the riff raf (ie those who are really 16 and have a fake ID) and its generally a good time. One of my really good friends lives there and most of the girls I went to highschool with have now moved there. |
