Man, I haven't posted in a bit;
@Tigar; Don't give up now! As HWGA's quote says; "4 months from now, what you will look like if you quit and what you will look like if you keep going? 4 months is going to happen no matter what, what will be your choice?" Try and remember that a few bad days does not undo everything you've done. You may have a higher number on the scales again, but remember that you may have consumed more sodium, you may be dehydrated from drinking, and keep in mind your body DOES fluctuate with your cycle and what's still in your body at the moment. I stepped on the scale this morning and saw myself up 5 pounds, as well. But then I remembered I hadn't poo'd since yesterday AM and my period started today. What is one non-food celebration that you pamper yourself with when you hit a weight goal? Whether it be 5% or 50 lbs., what type of stuff do you do for yourself? I figure I will get myself something for my 10% losses. (10% of my body weight) I don't know what, but something. One thing I do want to reward myself with at some point is a tattoo. I'm not sure what goal that will be, I guess it mostly just depends on when I've lost enough weight to feel like I'm not putting it on some fat stretched out body part. ;) How do you keep yourself from “giving in” when dining out? I have no motivation at all when I go out. I look at the menu and think "I should have this, but I want this." And the sad thing is I know even the "healthy" options are so high in points. I just either try not to go out or budget the meal out into my weekly bonus/activity points from WW. Do you drink soda? If so, what? If not, what do you drink to add flavor to your daily beverage intake? I don't drink soda. I drink water and tea. I often flavor my water with crystal light packs to make it easier to consume large amounts. Do you use a pedometer? If not, how do you make sure that you’re being active enough? I don't use a pedometer. I just make sure that I go to the gym most days or do a workout at home with my YBB DVDs. Do you strength train or just do cardio? Why? I do both. I have a gym membership. The weight machines are there. Why not? From everything I hear strength training is sooo good for weight loss in so many ways. How much weight have you lost and how much weight would you like to lose? 14 pounds gone, so much more to go. I can't even decide how much. I've never been thin before. I don't know what a good weight is for me. I'll figure it out as I get closer. What/who is your inspiration to lose weight? How awful I'm looking and feeling. I don't want to have a heart attack in my thirties or forties so I'm fixing this now in my twenties. What is your favorite low-fat/low-cal snack? Sugar free jello! Annies cheddar bunnies. Natural cheetos. Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches. Those things are my life saver when I'm craving something "junky"! |
Okay everyone… Captainly Pep talk time. I’ve been crunching numbers and we aren’t looking very good this week. First I want to congratulate everyone who has lost this week! And now I really need to push for everyone to work extra hard this week. I realize that TOM can hurt our weight loss (my weight loss won't be great next week probably because of it), but I have to say I am a little worried when I look at the numbers, which I think many of you will understand when you see the post tomorrow. I'm also a little worried that I haven't seen many people posting lately (thank you to our consistent posters). I realize that everyone is busy, but I must ask that everyone try to check in every few days to let us know how you're doing as well as cheer your teammates on. So we’ll call this our gimmee week, our one week where as a team, we don’t do so hot. We’ve done great so far, we just need to keep up the intensity and push through this little set back. Lets kick it into high gear so we can kick some fruity butt next week… |
Im going all out this week!
|
I've been working my butt off.. but I'm still up just not as much.

Wednesday 3/25/09
So I went over my "Captainly post" in my head probably a million times last night just wondering if I had been out of line. I wasn't calling any one person out or trying to make anyone feel bad, I was just trying to put a challenge out there to maybe light a fire under our butts as our team as a whole did not see the best results this week. We still had people who did great, some who did mediocre and some who just had a bad week for various reasons. That's expected, and I in no way, nor does anyone else, expect to see losses from everyone every week as our bodies just don't cooperate sometimes. For those of you who I ticked off with my post, you'll get a giggle from the irony that 1 hour after I posted TOM nailed me. My weigh in will show that this week as well, so I understand how frustrated some of you are. I've been running almost every day, been watching my food points, and I still may gain weight this week. I know why, but I'm still disappointed. I'm sorry if I ticked anyone off, that was not my intention, I was just trying to motivate...
Moving on... Today's Question~ Do you have a ritual you have to complete before your "official" weekly weigh in? I have a few things that I do before my weigh in each week. First, I go to the bathroom and then I remove all extra possible weight (belt, watch, earrings, shoes, etc.), with the exception of clothes (as I weigh in in front of people). My legs are a little sore from my C25K workout yesterday, but I'm really enjoying the feeling. |
You didn't piss me off. I like a leader that pushes us when we need to be pushed. We all WANT to lose weight... and we WANT to win. If we need to kick it up a notch it's not wrong to point that out. I for one am going to try super hard this week and next and everyone from here on out. I'd love to finish this challenge at a weight I will be proud of. Don't feel bad about being captainly. TOM happens to everyone... and when it does it IS still possible to lose weight or get a really great number the next week. We just gotta push through.
I weigh in first thing in the morning totally naked right after I go the bathroom. I usually weigh 2 or 3 times in a row until I get a consistant number then I write it on my calendar and online in like 3 different places lol. |

I'm so sorry, I don't post on here nearly as often as I should. I have missed pretty much every QOTD! I am going to try to get on here at least once a day to see how everyone is doing. TOM hit me last week, that's why my weight loss was only about 2 lbs. I've been really sick this weekend and present, so I haven't done my 30DS in a few days. I finally did it today since I'm feeling a bit better. I hope everybody has a great OP day and we see great losses next weigh-in! We are awesome! Hooah! :drill: KimL: You are doing a great job as team captain. Don't worry, pushing us is better than letting us just coast through this challenge. We are all here for the same reason, to lose weight and better our lives and ourselves! Thank you for everything! :cp: |
Kim I appreciated your post because I needed a good kick in the butt! While I was blaming TOM, I DID go off plan on Thursday and Saturday night. That is not something I want to continue doing. I am not in the competition to lose, then gain over and over again. I am here to make it to goal! So if I have someone saying "Don't worry about it, try again next week" and being really nice about it, I might continue that behavior. Thank you for calling us on it! :) I stopped checking in as much because I was a little ticked off about the newsletter always being so late, which made me feel like this wasn't being taken seriously. But I don't feel that way now.
Do you strength train or just do cardio? Why? I would normally do both, leaning more toward the cardio side, but I have been getting over a knee injury since December. I'm pretty much limited to what I do in physical therapy, which includes light cardio and light strength training. How much weight have you lost and how much weight would you like to lose? I am a yo-yo dieter, so it's kinda complicated. I have been as low as 105 and as high as 180, but the last few years I have been bouncing around between 140 and 160 A COUPLE TIMES PER YEAR! Very bad for my metabolism. I would like to get down to 135 and hover between 130 and 135. What/who is your inspiration to lose weight? My sister is the exact same height as me and is super thin, so it's easy to see how good I would look at that weight. But my biggest inspiration is depression. If I am not happy with my weight, I don't even want to leave the house and I wear loose black clothing only--not good for the social life What is your favorite low-fat/low-cal snack? Fruit! Berries and grapes mostly. Do you have a ritual you have to complete before your "official" weekly weigh in? First thing in the morning, no clothes, after bathroom time. :) |
I'm glad to hear that some of you like to be pushed, which is something I kind of need today, but first...
Today's Question~ How do you avoid emotional eating? I've been trying to use exercise... but lately I haven't been able to. It's something I really need to work on. My life got in the way again last night and I was not only unable to make it to WW but I also didn't get C25K in either. I took off last night and stayed with a friend because I'm really confused and torn about what to do with my BF and I still really haven't made a decision. Its like I know what I should do, question is, will I do it? My heart is getting in the way of what my mind is telling me as well as what everyone else is telling me. |
Old Questions I finally answered!:o I hope this is all of them.
What is one non-food celebration that you pamper yourself with when you hit a weight goal? Whether it be 5% or 50 lbs., what type of stuff do you do for yourself? ~Well, I bought a really nice pair of gauchos in size 14 for 50 cents at our local thrift store. (They were having a sale, trying to clear out clothes) That is just my mini-goal reward for whenever I lose enough weight to fit in them. Pretty much, just clothes. My ultimate reward will be to get the huge tote out of storage that is full of my old clothes. I can't wait to fit back into them and maybe even getting smaller than what I was. ;) How do you keep yourself from “giving in” when dining out? ~I haven't really gone out since starting WW and making the mistake of having something at McD...which cost me 20 points...:(:nono: Do you use a pedometer? If not, how do you make sure that you’re being active enough? ~I used to use a pedometer and make sure I got 10,000 steps a day, but haven't really used it in a while. I'm planning on doing it again once the weather is nice out and I can have the kids take walks with me. I know that walking 10,000 steps a day really has helped me in the past to lose weight. Do you strength train or just do cardio? Why? ~I do 30DS and planning on getting some other DVD's. I am looking for a really good boot camp DVD because I was in the best shape when I went to boot camp when I was 17. I love how I feel after it's done. How much weight have you lost and how much weight would you like to lose? ~I have lost 53 lbs, if you count my high pregnancy weight. I have lost 27 lbs since I started dieting after having our second baby boy. I still need to lose 33, but I think I may try for 43. It really just depends on how I feel at 160. My ultimate goal is to be about DH's weight or under. He is about 153. I just hate being so much bigger than him. Thank God he loves me any way I am. What/who is your inspiration to lose weight? ~The Biggest Loser and myself. I have been thin and in shape before so I know I can do it again, it is just getting through all the hard work to get to my goal. What is your favorite low-fat/low-cal snack? ~sugar free jello, popcorn, flavored rice cakes Today's Question~ How do you avoid emotional eating? ~I try to think about what I want to eat before I actually do it, to stay within my points. That helps a lot. |
Kim sometimes you have to make your heart follow your head. It's not easy to do. I've had many break-ups which afterward I kept saying... "Why do people tell you to follow you're heart? My heart lies."
Put yourself first... everything will ALWAYS turn out how it is supposed to. |
aangel~ I love your ultimate reward! It reminds me of mine... I have a pair of black pants from high school that I can't wait to fit back into!
tigar~ Thank you. We really didn't get a chance to talk last night, but I think he's realized that things HAVE to change, and if they don't, I'm gone. Today's Question~ Do you have a "cheat" night or meal? When and why? Every Wednesday after I weigh in I get some take-out or make something evil. So I weighed in last night and am up 1 lb. I tried to motivate everyone else... but forgot to motivate myself. Kick in the butt please! Thank you! |
Kim: :kickbutt: There you go!
~I hope you can make a decision with your bf. It is so hard to decide between your heart and your head, especially when other people are telling you what to do. When DH and I were going through something awful, I listened to my head and it almost ended in a divorce. We both had to change and we both worked on it. Finally I listened to my heart and we are doing pretty well. We still have problems, but we seem to get through them. QOTD: Not very often. I have low point snacks, so it almost feels like I'm cheating. I guess you could count that. I posted this on my other BL challenge, so I'm going to post it here too: So...I finally hit my WW goal of 5%!! I have not been this weight/size since I was about 3 or 4 months pregnant with our older son (when I was 19). Yesterday I got a pair of black pants and two pairs of jeans in a size 14! The dress pants fit perfect, but the jeans are a tad tight and have a little muffin top effect. I'm hoping that they will fit nicer in a few months. We are going on vacation in the beginning of July to Sesame Place, which has a lot of water attractions. I need to buy and wear the first swimsuit I have had in years...I'm actually quite optimistic yet scared to do so. It is a huge step for somebody that hasn't even worn shorts out in public in at least 5 years. |
Aangel22~ Congratulations!!!!!!! You’re going to look great (you already do) this summer so stop worrying (I know, easier said then done…). Thanks for the kick!!! Saturday & Sunday Question~ What are you going to do this weekend to help keep you OP? I journal every weekend since I can’t get online most weekends. I write down whenever I have a hard time with something and then try to figure out what is creating the problem. Have a great weekend every one! |
