HWGA~ That’s awesome! I know how it feels to have to push through pain and it sucks, but I bet you felt great afterwards (sore, but great!)
tigarlily1~ 1%, damn, I should be aiming for 2.4 lbs./ week! Great info, I always wondered why “everyone” should only lose 1-2 lbs./week, when some have so much more to lose than others it seems like they should start off losing weight faster… I’ve been peeking in on the chats and have noticed that we are the second most active chat thread, I was gonna peek at how much weight each team has to lose to see what kind of competition we’re up against… jahjah & tigarlily1~ Try putting a straw in your bottles. I bought a steel water bottle with a flip up straw and have no problem getting my water in each day. What is your kryptonite? What food and/or drink do you have the hardest time resisting? Mine would be anything pasta. I LOVE pasta!!! I also LOVE soda. I’ve been struggling with both and have just had to try and fit them into my points. Decent weigh in last night, lost 2.8 lbs.! So I’m off to a good start with this challenge! |
What is your kryptonite? What food and/or drink do you have the hardest time resisting?
Whoa.... Asian food...especially Thai and Korean food. Everyone knows they have HIGHh sodium in them... When I start eating them, I just have to see the bottom of it...but it's something I can't just not have it...as I'm a Korean myself. :P tigar By the way... about the maintenance weigh calorie.... I have a question. I know if you burn more cal if you have muscle...If so, how does it work with that 10 times thing? Just curious... Kim Congrats on the weight loss! :) HWGA I think I may have to look at what I'm eating really good... I just AM NOT calorie counter but I may still start writing down what I eat so I can pay attention... Gretchy I am the same way about weighing myself...I do that in the morning also...only in bra and panty, though :D |
i love fried chicken mmmm lol and mash potatoes and coleslaw and beans and bbq chicken *mouth waters*

What is my kryptonite?
Pizza! Mexican food, italian food, pad see ewe...I can't have soda or chips in the house or they will be eaten! |
My kryptonite is a lot of fast food...mexican mostly.
Also, I made the mistake of trying the angry whopper at BK the other week and it was delicious. I substituted the jalapenos for pickles...I can't take THAT much spiciness. ;) Anyway, since joining WW this week it has been keeping me in check. I definitely do not want to spend my day's worth of points on one sandwich. I heard it has about 800 or so calories in it! Yikes...no wonder I gained weight back. |
So this is a good site for figuring out how many calories you burn in a day. It's based on height weight and lifestyle (seditary, active, etc.) http://caloriecount.about.com/cc/calories-burned.php
As far as muscle burning more than fat thats true... but you need to have a LOT of muscle. So for most people, unless you are a professional body builder, the calculations that are used for figuring this stuff out are pretty close to what you actually burn. |
My kryptonite seems to be carb filled starchy foods. Breads and pastas, oh my heart is a flutter!
The funny thing, though, is that the more times I turn them down the easier it's getting to avoid. :D And replacing with whole grain versions helps some. |
Hmmm... I went to the link tigar put in..
------------------------------------------- Sedentary: On most days, you find yourself mainly sitting, reading, typing, or working at a computer. Light Activity: You participate in light exercise, such as walking, for no more than 2 hours daily. Moderate Activity: You rarely sit during the day and do heavy housework, gardening, or dancing daily. Very Active: You participate in physical sports such as jogging or mountain-biking each day or you hold a labor-intensive job such as a construction worker or bicycle messenger. -------------------------------------------------- Well.. My work is sitting in front of computer. I drive about 2-2.5 hours a day. So I'm sedentary in that aspect. However, I work out every day... or at least 6 days a week for at least 50 minutes if not upto 90 minutes... I run, do Cardio DVDs, Strength DVDs, 30 DS, Taebo, and so on.. You get the picture... So that aspect sounds more like Very Active. Where would I fit? |
Here's today's question~
Do you eat just three meals a day or have your meals with snacks in-between? Why? I eat snacks in-between because I know I am more likely to binge if I'm starving when it comes to meal time. I'll post more later... |
aangel22~ Seeing the points worth for all kinds of food was definitely an eye opener for me.
Gretchy~ I actually am starting to like whole grain and wheat pasta more than white pasta now. taragettingthin~ I would say light activity, because for the most part you do sit in front of the computer most of the day, but you do get activity in later in the day. It’s better to over-estimate than under-estimate. This week is just not a good week for me emotionally. My BF and I had a long talk late last night about whether or not we should stay together. We have been through so much together, and I love him more then anything, but we don’t want the same things out of life. He doesn’t want marriage or kids, I do. He wants to stay right by his parents, same town and everything, whereas I would like to move either somewhere else in VT or somewhere out of state (but close to VT as my Dad has been sick for some time now). We haven’t come to a conclusion about us, but I feel like we both know where it’s going and this may be our last weekend together. Part of me wants to use this to get a really good C25K workout in today, while the other part of me just wants to go home and sleep. Why do relationships have to be so hard? Sorry, this really doesn't have anything to do with working out, etc., but the stress has really effected me this week. |
Do you eat just three meals a day or have your meals with snacks in-between? Why?
I eat meals with snacks in between...because I follow the intuitive eating plan and supposed to eat when I feel hungry. Also, with my schedule of waking up at 11 AM and going to sleep at 5 AM...with feeding my daughter at 5 PM...it's hard to have the exact 3 meals. So with Sedentary, I'm at 1900 and with Light Activity, I'm at 2200. As I think I burn about 500 cal per day, I'm going to aim at anywhere from 1400-1700 with workout of 500 cal. That would give me deficit of 1000 cal... loss of 2 lb per week. I am mainly into intuitive eating but I think I'm going to try to start watching calories on top of intuitive eating. I did Skinny *****es workout and also Taebo...and soon will be going to run for 30 minutes. That will give me 70 minutes...and also, i did some ab and lower body work out..with planks here and there... man, my legs and arms are burning! :D I would have never guessed I would ever say I like sweating or pain from workout. lol I measured myself today and no inch loss since Feb. 2. WTH. I weighed myself and at least I haven't gained since Monday so that's better than going up, I guess... since I've been seeing ups and downs so much ever since I started again in Jan. So me being down, I asked my bf if he has been able to tell the difference. He told me "your body is a lot...tighter?? if that's the right word. your butt is a lot tighter." Yay.. that's one good thing, I guess. haha... Well.. I better get going so I'm not stuck on here.. :D Be back later! |
Hello all. Sorry for not checking in on a regular basis. Things have been a bit crazy. This week WW's weigh in was not good. I'm up 3 lbs and feel like an absolute failure. I won't weigh in for the challenge until Sunday and I'm hoping some of the 3 pounds has come off. We'll see.
|
I normally eat 2 meals a day and maybe a snack somewhere else in the day. (I don't eat breakfast very often)
Kim, I haven't gone back to white since, so I don't know how I'd react to it if I had it again. I do enjoy the whole grain versions very much though, it hasn't been a difficult change at all. |
I would agree that light activity would fit best. I think I said seditary because then I would find out what I burn on days that I don't work out... that way I know that if I cut that many calories I will definately lose and if I workout too thats just gravy!
Seems like everything is my kyptonite, chips, pasta, movie theater popcorn. I pretty much have to avoid everything I love. I eat three meals a day and 3 snacks a day... thats how I keep from ever being hungry. my meals are ususally 300 calories and my snacks are 100-150. |
i had cheese doodles today.. right after as workout! grr lol
