Sasparilla? LOL
It's a good thing your DH investigated and found him. Your story reminds me of how we got two of pets:
our first cat, Bob, was tossed into our yard by some monsters in the middle of the night. Our house was the neighborhood dog house, we had about five dogs at the time. It was late at night and we heard a car zoom off and racket outside. My mama went out to see what was going on and found this little bitty kitten, no more than a week or two old, curled up in a torn up paper bag in the middle of the yard. Luckily, our oldest dog Kyla realized it was just a baby and kept the other dogs off him till my mama got to him. At first we thought it was a girl and named him Bluebell cause he had pretty blue eyes then a couple of weeks later Mama realized it was a boy. Like all our pets, he soon grew big and spoiled but unfortuantely, we had to move and he became a tomcat. We moved again and Mama went looking for him but never found him. That was like over six years ago and my mama STILL thinks about him and when we are in the old neighborhood, still looks for him. I bet if we ever saw him, he would go right to mama cause he loved her alot.
My stepfather found our dog PoohBear (she's the one I posted a pic of). He was driving home on a horrible rainy night and his headlights cut across a dog that had been ran over. For some reason, he stopped and found her there, crying besides her mama. Poohbear was pratically a newborn, she fit right in the palm of your hand, a little ball of fur. My stepfather isn't the type of guy to just take in stray animals but for whatever reason, he brought her home. She was so terrified, she hide under their bed, shivering. My mama came home and she was the ONLY one who could get Poohbear out from under the bed! I swear, my mama is like the animal whisperer or something. LOL We had Poohbear for over 12 years. She was the best dog in the world. We miss her alot.
