Good for you Carmelkitty. I hope you break into the 60s soon.. Then we can start a thread called getting out of the 60s. I have been staying at 167 for days and want the scale to move.
It's been a while since I posted in here. I am stuck at 176 for the last week. This is the first time since January that I didn't lose anything from WI to WI. Hope that whoosh fairy decides to visit soon, though I did have a big one at the beginning of July.
I'm going to add my thoughts on weight loss surgery.
Claudia - I'm really sorry to hear you need surgery on your foot. I am not a nurse and NEVER want to see someone's internal organs on the floor! But I know what you mean about needing to have someone care for you. I had a small cyst removed from my back in June and needed just a tiny bit of help for a couple days dealing with the band-aid because I couldn't reach it. I hate to ask for help, so I can feel for you on this one. I hope it all goes well and you really are back on your feet in no time afterward.
Now about weight loss surgery. I know there are lots of people who do well with it and maintain the loss. But in my personal experience, no one I know (even 2nd or 3rd hand) has kept the weight off any better than someone who loses without surgery. To me, losing without surgery seems logical. The instant gratification of the rapid loss wears off quickly. I'm astounded that I lost 70 pounds in exactly 6 months. Not a quick as someone with surgery, but not too slow, either. Surgery is a great tool for weight loss, but I don't think it has any effect on maintaining the loss. If you could be sure keeping it off, then my opinion would be different. We are in a life time process here. If we can't change what got us fat in the first place, we're going to get fat again. "Dieting" (I hate that word) gives us time to actually realize what's going on and set a new pattern. This new way of eating should become the norm. Just my opinion, but I never even considered surgery. (Re-read the part about hating to ask for help . . . )
Congratulations to all of you who are moving downwards!!!!!
I finally moved down a pound after days of staying the same. 166 today. This is work. I already did my cross trainer this am and am ready to pay bills. I am going out to lunch with friends and hopefully will talk them into a place that serves salads.
I just wanted to check in and say hi. I am still in the 170's. July was not a good month at all I got down to 171.2 thought sure I'd get to see the 160's well on July 31st I weighed in at 177.2. July stats a gain of 3.8lbs for the month. I am back on track and weighed in today at 173.6.
I REALLY REALLY don't like the "7" anymore
Envelope! Wow! Over 4 pounds since Wednesday! Gonna miss you!
I'm down a bit today, too. I was the same as last week - 176.0 on Wednesday (official WI day) - and today I'm 173.6. I'm not crazy about posting weights in between WI days, but I'll do this one as half way to next WI!
Off to a great free 2 day Jazz and Blues fest here in town - hope the "carnival" food doesn't call my name too loudly! Actually, a little whoosh is just what I needed to keep me focused. I was at 176 for over a week and I don't want to see it again!
Envelope and linjber: that is great about both of you going down. I went down a pound also. We can celebrate today!
Linjber: My husband is a jazz musician so your festival sounded interesting.
Off to do a fasting test..then off to the fields to watch wheat harvest..then off to the Y to exercise.
Well, day 1 of the Jazz and Blues fest was fun. The music was awesome. Five different bands today, 5 more tomorrow. Some are local, some from other places. There were lots of food vendors, but we ate lunch at home before we went and packed a great supper of cold chicken, salad, potato salad (I only had a little!) and fruit. Take that, sausage sandwich with peppers and onions. You aren't so irresistible after all! I have to admit, the smells almost did me in! More of the same tomorrow. Let's hope my willpower stays intact.
I went out for Mexican food and watched people eating chalupas and fried beans. That is a good way of looking at food you are not going to eat..not so irresistible. Good luck today at the festival.
Wt. 164.5..Hope it stays. I think eating fish is helping.
