Getting out of the 170s

  • I keep telling myself that being stuck here (still at 179) wouldn't be so bad since I have plenty of clothes that fit me and, in fact, have very few smaller clothes. But that's hooey, I want that number on the scale to keep going down! I just don't trust myself to be patient and stick to the plan.
  • Yeah, I have plenty of clothes that fit too, which makes perfect sense as I've been in the 170's since April. (I did purposely maintain over the summer...so three months of it was intentional, but the rest was not!)

I'm accepting the fact that my weight loss is slower now than when I started out, but seriously, it's time to get out of the 170's now! My next goal is 174 (100 lbs lost) then I hope to get out of the 170's by the end of the calendar year. This *should* be a realistic goal, but at the rate I've been going, who knows.

I am glad you're here though, it's no fun talking to yourself, lol. There's gotta be some other 170's ladies out there who want to do this with us!
  • Okay, I'll race you to 174! That would get me out of the "obese" BMI category, which is one of those big psychological goals for me.

The clothes I can fit into now are from over 10 years ago, when I started working at my present job. It's a good thing I never buy anything trendy, I guess.
  • Cool that 174 is a big milestone for both of us. Good thing you saved your clothes! Last time I was in my current size was back in the 90's...probably not a whole lot that I could have salvaged anyway without looking hopelessly outdated, lol.
  • Still just us, eh? How's the weather in northern MN? It's getting chilly here.

I think the 170s are going to be worse than the 180s. Every pound is such a struggle!
  • We just had our first measurable snow a couple days ago. Cold here too, 30's today. I guess winter is here. Did Albany get hit by that Halloween storm earlier this year?

I sure hope you're not in the 170's as long as I've been here! Ugh.
  • 173.9!!! This is a major goal for me, I've finally hit the 100 lbs lost mark!!

Now, onward and downward to the 160's!
  • Congrats!! 100 pounds is really impressive. As is 99, but those round numbers - so much better, somehow.

My scale said 176 this morning but I think it was one of those flukes. Still, I feel like I'm still going in the right direction and hope not to see 180 again. EVER.

We did get that snow before Halloween, but it wasn't too bad and was gone by the next day. The good part was that it made me decide to rescue a stray cat from my back yard. She's adorable and is fitting in nicely with my existing herd.

    Congrats again on your success!!
  • Thank you so much! And I really hope your 176 sticks. You are SO done with the 180's!

So nice of you to take in another kitty. Our dog was a rescue dog...he's spoiled rotten.
  • Slight gain today. 174.2. I'm thinking it's water retention from zumba last night. Friday is my normal WI day and I usually have a lighter exercise day on Thursdays in anticipation of Friday WI. But with all the pigging out I'll be doing today, no way I'm stepping on the sclae tomorrow, lol.

Happy Thanksgiving, Steph (and to anyone else who might be lurking here...please feel free to join us!!)
  • My scale said 174.5 this morning - woot! I should make Saturday my weigh-in day because it seems like that's when I hit my lowest. The recent pattern has been to hit a new low, then bounce back up a pound or two, then gradually go down again. I'd like to be at 175 at month-end, because that would be 50 pounds in 5 months. Pretty good!

I did well on Thanksgiving because it was just me and a vegetarian friend. I used my mini pie maker to make mashed potato pie, stuffing pie and apple pie. Lots of carbs, but good portion control!
  • I seem to have the same pattern...new low, gain, gain comes off, new low, repeat cycle. It's maddeningly slow. I really thought I would be down again last Thursday as I did really good that week. OH well.

Good job on the turkey day control! I kind of overdid it this past weekend. Back on track now, hoping my damage control this workweek will be enough to prevent a gain on Friday.
  • For me, part of the trouble with holidays is being out of my routine. So, as much as I hate working, having that schedule is helpful! Having said that, I think I'm going to the Chinese Buffet for lunch tomorrow. I don't like Chinese food but they have great pigs in blankets and pizza. Ack.
  • Yeah, I hear you exactly on the routine, as much as I hate it!

Good pizza at a Chinese place, lol. Next thing you know, Pizza Hut will be known for their egg rolls

DH wants to take me to this Italian place this weekend that he went to for work some weeks back. Italian food is SO dangerous, but so yum. I usually allow myself one good "cheat" meal each week, but I don't feel like I really deserve it this week since I had *several*cheat days last weekend. I'll probably end up going anyway...if I gain on Friday, I'll drown my sorrows in pasta, and if I lose (or stay the same), it will be an excuse to celebrate. Completely flawed thinking, I know, ha!
  • I love Italian food - anything in tomato sauce, yum.

We ended up going to Panera, where I always have Caesar salad. It's not a low-calorie meal (esp. when you add the chips!) but it's not bad. Sometimes I have to remind myself that it's okay to eat more than 300 calories, that there is a middle ground between 300 and 1200!
