Rosinante, I miss walking freely outdoors. When I lived in DC I walked almost everywhere. In VA there was a track near that we used.

Sucking in all of your menus PrairieQueen as usual. Good job on your loss

Carol Sue off plan sends me on an eating frenzy also Good job on your loss also

I am down 2.6lbs due to almost 11hrs of sleep last night. Today has been a good day (eating wise) so far. Hoping to keep this going

Way to go Rennie! Sleep is so important to weight loss. Glad to see you back. As you may have read, I'm tired of being stuck. Don't get me wrong, I love that I've lost so much weight. But, I'm not at goal and knew that I was keeping my calories in check, so I started researching the Net and actual scientific articles. That's why I'm experimenting a little with upping my calories. I've decided today is the last day.ill start cutting again tomorrow like I have been doing.

Today...
Break - Amy's bean/cheese burrito
Snack - 2 kiwis, slice bacon
Lunch - grilled cheese
Snack - skinny popcorn
Dinner - dinner out: carne asada, cheese enchilada, guacamole, margRita

Thanks PrairieQueen I just responded to you on the other thread How do you make your grilled cheese. My daughter and my husband make them in the frying pan with way too much butter, smells good but when I try to eat them they make me gag Also do you know why black beans are preferred over great northern and others?

I actually put mine in the oven.....
Lightly spread two slices bread with mayo. Put mayo side down on cookie sheet (I put parchment paper down first). Leave in 350 preheated oven 5-8 min. then put one or two slices of your fave cheese. Heat a little longer until melted. I've been using one slice havarti and one of Dubliner. I love it

As for black beans, my friend and I were just talking about this. We both agree that black beans are one of the more nutritious, and we both prefer then over others. Although I like all kinds....

Well done, WBH! That's a great loss.

Yes, I'm very lucky with the public transport round here. When I was looking for a local place to retire to, high up on my list was a railway station. Unfortunately, my railway station was pulled down, concreted over and built on several decades ago. Shame! It has a very good bus hub, though.

Successful smoothies for breakfast and lunch yesterday, however overdid the bread for sandwiches at night. Not quite as bad as yesterday, hope for a better today.

DH makes good grilled cheese. He uses a lot of butter, also. I don't usually eat a whole one, but will eat a small piece of his.

Rennie, Yay on the weight loss!!

PQ, never heard of grilled cheese in the oven. Your food always sound so good!

Rosinante, Keep at it. You'll succeed. If I can finally get a loss after all the time I've been trying, anyone can!

Thanks Carol Sue you are too hard on yourself. Keep up the good work

Rennie restaurants usually use mayo so the cheese melts before bread burns. I use it because I like taste.

PrairieQueen now I know ... I didn't try eating grilled cheese till some time last year. I'd order it when out for the kids but never tried one. My baby told me to taste the one her dad had made for her once.

Hi Rennie, Carol Sue, Rosinante, newbies and oldies! Good going Carol Sue and Rosinante. once you get going it'll get easier.

I had an appt. with my hair gal today. I do an hombre coloring and changed my cut...bangs, or "fringe" as hubs calls them with long layers. I love it! I got upstairs bathroom all prepped for filling holes (finally got all wallpaper stripped) and priming trim. I'm going to order the main light tonight and the other two and other accessories next next week to spread the cost out. It's the last of the wallpaper in the house! It's taken me five years but it's almost there. I had to hire someone to do stairwell last summer.

Break - hamburger patty w/brown sauce
Lunch - garden salad, two hard boiled eggs
Snack - two kiwis
Dinner - bourbon chicken, brown rice, broccoli

PrairieQueen I tried the grilled cheese yesterday. I had my daughter try a piece but didn't tell her what was on it. She enjoyed it also Your menus always make me hungry I think I've missed a lot. Are you renovating or just redecorating? New hairstyles and color make me happy for awhile then I wish I could do a quick fix on this old body

Evening all!

Rennie I've always loved to cook and try new dishes, especially something I've had in a restaurant. Now that the hubs and I moved out of the burbs to the country, our dining out choices are limited. And I am doing a bathroom makeover short of replacing shower, toilet and vanity (it's an antique dresser). This bathroom had been a small bedroom and was converted to a bathroom sometime in the 90s. I've been stripping wallpaper and patching holes this week. It's taking a while as my motivation has been low.....so many other things going on. Its the last room of our 1849/1920s/1990s farmhouse that has wallpaper. We've been here 5.5 years and I've been redoing things slowly but surely. My hubs is not very handy, but I am. I've refinished floors, put in new faucets/dishwasher/fans etc. in this house and my last all by myself. The plan is to have a completely new kitchen done next summer (prob Amish craftsmen) and possibly open it up to the sunroom/family room. ... Depends on $$

As if I have t bored everyone enough.....
Break - 1/2 piece cheesecake
Snack - 2 kiwis
Lunch - hot dog w/Cinci chili (no bun)
Dinner - pork chop w/lemon sauce and mushrooms/onions, Angel hair pasta

My weight went down again today but still not back to pre-experiment low.

PrairieQueen you are a jack of all trades Glad I'm not the only woman handier than her husband. Drives me nuts at times but then I have our oldest son to help/assist. He can fix/repair/restore most anything. It's funny they are so different born one day apart 1849 wow your home definitely has some history. Have you researched it? and Did you make the chili yourself? I think I'm gonna come visit you for lunch and dinner one of these years ... maybe we can set it up when I get to the 140's (lol I'll be 60 by then) YAY on weight coming down

Good morning/afternoon! Another pound of water weight gone overnight, and my energy is coming back. It's amazing how much water our bodies can store in only a few days.

I was only in the garden 15 minutes yesterday but did a few things around the house. It is going crazy but I'm just not too excited to be out there. I did pickle some pepper rings Wednesday. I have someone coming over today to give me an estimate on a "European" patio.

Rennie there was a ready-made history of the property and the house given to us by the local historical society. (We also made three friends that day!) the same German Methodist family from Pennsylvania lived on the property since 1810 (in a log cabin) and a son built the main house in 1849 with bricks made on site. The place stayed in family until mid 1980s. It's gone through several updates and renovations since. We love it here

I never heard of mayo on a grilled cheese OR baking it in the oven, but I saw someone do it on TV yesterday! It was funny that they did that after you mentioned it. They spread the mayo on the bread and the mayo side was face down on the pan. Is that what you do? Then the cheese was in the middle. I don't remember if there was mayo on the top slice. I can't/won't eat the bread so that's out for me. DH makes his in a frying pan with half a stick of butter. Grilled cheese was a favorite of mine when I was a kid. When I was lazy I did a quickie version called "toasted cheese." Put the bread in the toaster then put the cheese in between as soon as the warm toast popped up. Not anywhere near as good! LOL

So far it's been 9 days since I had any starchy carbs. Actually, we went to the casino yesterday and ate the seafood buffet. When I came home my blood sugar was 112. Unheard of for me! I ate the meat/fish and the veggies. No mac and cheese, no potatoes, no corn on the cob, no pasta, but what I did have was delicious and satisfying!
