Again, I took on that 3.84 mile loop, and ran it in just about the same time, though it felt smoother, mostly because at 7 AM on a Saturday, that country road is nearly deserted and I was able to run near the center line where it slopes less. I will figure out this running thing yet.
Thursday 7/25: 65 minutes yoga - a standing hip opener flow and a shoulder flow which almost killed me. I never think of plank as a shoulder exercise.
Friday 7/26: 30 minute medium weight workout and 5.5 miles on the bike
Saturday 7/27: 1:35 minutes mowing and edging. I wore my heart rate monitor and footpod today just to see and I had a max heart rate of 185, an average of 142 and walked 2.3 miles. When I really do right by the yard it is quite a workout. Also planning some yoga tonight while the boys wind down before bed.
60 minutes on a rickety, loose-belted mostly plastic treadmill in the motel "exercise room," random intervals, half walking, half running, not very fast, mostly just to move & to burn off some travel-related anxiety & settle my mind.
7/28: First gym visit in a while. Bench press, pullups, chinups, dips, tricep cable pulldowns, Roman chair leg raises, ~10 laps in the pool. Lots of moving stuff and "team lift" furniture transport.
45 minute spin class, with weight intervals, which felt tired & uninspiring, so afterward ...
60 minute shoulders, biceps and triceps routine, the one that I usually do on Sunday, but couldn't do in the motel gym and then felt too tired to do in a second gym session
I'm actually debating going back to the gym tonight, but I'm trying to remain within the bounds of normality, call it a day, and pick up much-needed groceries tonight.
Ran 3.84 miles, which took me about 40 minutes, and an interesting thing happened: As I was running, a real runner came by: Tall, thin guy with a bandanna around his head and a long, smooth easy stride. As he ran by me, I picked up something of his rhythm & pace for a few seconds and thought, "Wow, this feels ... right ..." and then he blew past and I lost the rhythm and went back into what I was doing, which feels very bumpy, landing hard, with too much upper body movement.
Saef - I veyry seldom ever hit this stride on my own. I can always get into the groove in a race, but that is when I'm surrounded by other people running. In a normal run I tend to slow and walk too much, don't push the running, don't go as fast as I should. Feel like a big, lumbering elephant. I can hit that groove on my own if I speed up, my legs like faster. Try to picture the gazelle instead. LOL I felt it some yesterday - wind in my hair, legs felt loose, I always regret when I lose that vibe. Music helps - I find lately I hit the sweet spot when I'm listening to rap music, oddly. Or the soundtrack to Kinky Boots. Yesterday I really popped during the finale to the musical and to "Baby Got Back".

60 minutes on my familiar Stairmaster, which felt like an old friend, resistance at nine, random intervals
60 minutes shoulders, chest & tricep routine
