There are currently 36 of us in this challenge, yippee! I would like to see each and every one of us still posting our miles in December 2009.

So let's dig deep and commit to ourselves that we will PERSIST and BELIEVE.

WE CAN DO THIS!

That'll be good to keep track of. I anticipate a lot of digging deep on my part.

I think I figured it out based on the diameter of the wheel itself... 1000 revolutions is one mile... If that is correct then I did 1.5 miles this morning.

Absolutely starting slow, yes! I just went and got my new running shoes today, so hope it will stop raining so I can try them out!
I think I can do 500, though some of that might be elliptical trainer. Count me in!

It was a little weird getting used to the feel of running with them on in general, but when I hit the icy patches I was excited to have them on. I'm not sure how nerdy that makes me to be excited about something like that - ha!

Happy New Year everyone!

midwife - You may surprise yourself and end up ahead of me! I'm not so sure about another full marathon this year, but I may do a half or two. My plan is to keep running but I'm also trying to figure out how to do a better job of fitting in some strength training in. I'm supposed to be in a wedding in September and am hoping to be a buff bridesmaid. I am pretty sure I will be the oldest member of the wedding party so I have to represent the best I can!

Jo - I agree I hope everyone is still posting at the end of the year - that is my plan!

thinpossible - That is awesome that you did 1.25 miles. I remember when I could barely make it that far and I ran a full marathon this year! It's amazing what the body can accomplish when you just start putting one foot in front of the other. I started with baby steps so don't feel silly at all for being proud of that number. I am not the fastest runner in the world by any means but I always tell people that even if I come in last place I'm still ahead of the guy who never got up off the couch!

I hope that it doesn't take me too long to get to 3 mi a day, because I'd really like to make 1000 mi this year. The sooner I get to 3 mi a day, the fewer miles I have to make up!

My plan is to be here at the end of the year also - even if I don't make goal!

I did 2.88 on the elliptical this evening. 997.12 to go!

I know some of you have a Garmin. I have the forerunner 305 and it's irritating the snot out of me. Everytime I use the "other" function it's logging it under multi-sport even if I just do the "other" activity. It also goes under multisport if I walk one day (other) and then run the next. GRRR. Does anyone know how to turn off the multisport function?

I think Garmin issue has just been resolved (I'm a dolt at times ). However if you do know how to just turn off the auto multisport that would be cool to know!

3.5 miles speed interval running! I wanted to run a half marathon in May.

Jackie which one are you running? I'm planning on doing the one in Ottawa.

The only way that I know that the problem you describe would occur is if you start the timer and then switch sports. As long as you dont do that it wont happen.

I see what you are saying though. Cause of course that means you have to remember every time before you start.

I log my running and walking @ runningahead.com and dont bother changing my sport.

My watch is dead right now so after it recharges I'll see if you can disable it.
