Good Sunday afternoon everyone! Just nabbed the computer from my son! boy can't wait till they go back to school! Today so far food wise i am doing great. Yesterday was almost a blow out-on a scale from 1-10 (10 being wonderful!) i was about a 5! We didn't end up going to friends last night with the kids sooo that saved me, but a long visit at my sister inlaws got me into a bit of trouble. She has soooo much junk hanging around. I have no self control and you know what one taste of sugar does to a girl. I hope i didn't ruin the whole week. I did take a walk yesterday and excersised almost every day last week. Today i had good intentions with excersise, but that thing called weather and life got in the way. We had some snow and now freezing rain. We all over slept and missed church Then a friend called and needed a shoulder to cry on so i went to a movie with her-here is a hint don't go to a depressing movie with a depressed friend-if you do bring tissues!!!! Oh well tomorrow i will kick my butt! Everyone else seems to be busy here or gone for the week end! Hope you all do well!
Deb-Thank god for kosher food huh?! saved ya-but you seem to have the self control i don't have! You are doing sooo well getting down in those 130's! can't wait to join you!
Sas-There is another Trader Joes in NH which is not far from Andover. And a big shopping mall too!!! Maybe viv can meet us half way to sometime while you are here! I have a 14 yr old son and a 11 yr old and a 5 yr old. YOu sound excited. I hope you like cold weather! it will be warming up soon, but the mud will be here so be prepared! From what i hear from others who move here we are behind alot of schools educational wise! so maybe your daughter will be ahead when she gets here! GOOD LUCK
CMD-i would try those egg whites!! YUMMY I also buy light cheddar cheese. I guess our choices are limited for low fat protien! I am glad i am no sick of chicken-YET!
Beach-glad your feeling better. Hope you had a great walk-take it easy!!
Thin-you sound like your in better spirits! You sound like your having a great week end! Happy Birthday to Christopher! I know all will go well with his surgery!
Overcome-I always thought you lost fat where you don't have alot of fat first! Who knows what the body does with this stuff!!! I know with excersise my fat has spread out and i have no waist! Also since doing sugar busters i have lost some fat in places that was hard to move.
Well gotta gooooo! I am taking advantage of my computer time!!!! Hope i get to chat with someone soon!! Icheck in now and then but no one! I have ICQ but not aol thingy oh well!!! Keep up the great work! We are worth it!

Hi everyone!

I'm back from my visit with my son and his family. I have to tell you my new granddaughter is so beautiful and my grandson loves her so much. Jason and Angie, my son and daughter-in-law bought Jesse, my grandson(he's 3), a book called "I'm a big brother". Well, they have read that book to him so much that he recites it word for word. It's so cute. He wants to hug and kiss her all the time.

Kim: I know what Starbucks you are talking about. That one will be fine when you come for a visit. It's actually closer to my house than the other one. It sounds like you had a great weekend. Wish we coul have met.

Thin: I have a young cousin who went through the same surgury with her eyes. Everything went fine. You son will be in my prayers and I hope that he'll do well too.

Debbie: I thought that I read somewhere that you had a tummy tuck? This may sound weird, but I know that after I lose all of this weight, I'll have to have one and I am scared to death of having it done. Sometimes I think I even sabatoge my own weightloss because of it. Was it very bad? If I was mistaken and you were not the person that posted the surgury, I apologize. Also, I will e-mail a couple of pictures to you if you won't mind helping me to post them. Thanks.

Orange: I think you mentioned that you get bloated from having milk and you were wondering if the soy milk would do that to you. My son is vegetarian and also lactose intolerant and he drinks soy milk. All I can say is that it doesn't bloat him and with milk he was bloated and also ran to the bathroom after drinking milk or eating milk products. He did say that he had to drink the vanilla flavor and get used to it before he had the regular flavor. I'm not sure about the sugar though.

You all have a great day!

Evening Ladies

Well, no grains today...the store I wanted to go to wasn't open, so I'll save that for another time.
I did pick up a REALLY NICE VEGETARIAN TIMES MEDITERRANEAN COOKBOOK.... ELI would be proud! I went to Books-a-Million, and my mission was to look at the HIGH VOLTAGE book to see what she wants people to eat. The lady there said they had ONE LEFT and it was the large paperback edition. $15.99....I sat down and read some of it and decided to purchase...On the way to the checkout, I stopped at the bargin tables and found the cookbook (originally $26) for $5.97, LO AND BEHOLD...what did I find? THE HARDBACK EDITION OF THE HIGH VOLTAGE BOOK!!!! and what was it priced at? $4.97 DEALS OF THE DAY!!! I'll read them and then let you know what I think.

Thanks for the tip on the SOY...I'll get some and try that with my cereal. The vanilla would actually be good if the sugar content isn't high.

Off to fix supper....I'll click more later..

Hi Friends!

We’re back from Indiana. Good visit for sure. As far as the eating goes for the weekend, I’m pretty proud of myself. They usually have LOTS of sweets and goodies, but they did really well to not have much of that stuff around. I usually come home feeling so full and miserable from eating way too much of the wrong foods. But today I feel great. I withstood the mashed potatoes and crescent rolls at lunch. I had fixed yummy brown rice and SIL and Mom loved it. Paul was the only guy to eat it. Ugh. My SIL was so supportive and interested in what was legal and what wasn’t. She got a little bummed when I told her the instant oatmeal she LOVES wasn’t as good for her as the real stuff. The question about oatmeal this weekend was beautifully timed because we had been talking about it earlier.

KAREN---Thanks for posting the article about avoiding carbs. Very good stuff. Really true, too, don’t we know it!!!!

Yes, JOY, I missed you. And I’m so happy that you gave us a good exercise tip that even I can do on a regular basis. Sounds like a winner to me. Did you come up with that yourself???

BEACH---Oh so glad you are back and feeling better. Tell that nasty old cough to take a HIKE. You’ve got better things to be doing with your time. I’ve known people who get cracked ribs from coughing so hard.

DEB & THIN---Thanks for the explanation about TJs. I can’t wait to go and check it out. I have no idea where it is in Columbus or if it’s even open yet. But I’ll do some defective detective work on the internet and let you all know. Deb, probably won’t get there before our trip. Next Saturday will be reserved for trying on summer clothes and seeing what fits and what doesn’t. It’s probably going to be one gigantic panic attack for me as I try to survive all week on 2 pairs of shorts or something impossible like that.

ORANGE---Thanks for the TJs tip. That would suck if it wasn’t there yet. And thanks for the instructions on the beans and kale. I do not have a pressure cooker (horrible fear of taking out the second floor with a lid gone bad), so I’ll have to adjust your instructions to doing them on the stove. I can’t wait to try some kale. I’ve always wanted to cook collard greens and have been instructed many times by some friends. I’m really going to give it a try this time. Am very impressed with your shopping expertise. That’s a bargain that you sniffed out, my friend. Well done, indeed. Also . . . about your bloating. I’ve never had trouble with milk, but just about everything else (at times I thought even AIR) gave me those problems. Anyways, I’m telling you that I buy these things called Food Enzymes (a dietary enzyme supplement) from a company called Nature’s Sunshine. We have an Herbalist here in town, but you can get them from www.naturessunshine.com at about the same price. They help so much with that for me and I’m wondering if they’d do the trick for you with milk.

CHERI---How great that you all had a good trip. Your 3 yo grandson sounds so precious. That’s just wonderful that he’s being accepting and loving to the new person at the house. It helps that you were there to give him loads of loving too. Yes, we’ll definitely meet soon. I’m telling you, we are over there a lot.

Well, it’s almost time for Crossing Over with John Edward so I’m going to have to go. (Anybody else watch him?????) I’m addicted to that show . . . more than survivor. Have a great night and a great week. Take care everyone. Catch ya’ later.

Evening again!!!

I think I stated my problem wrong...I don't mean bloat like gas bloat...I mean PUFFY bloat...face etc...Evidently, there is something in dairy that promotes this in a lot of people. AND of course...NOT TO BE LEFT OUT OF ANYTHING....me included!
Now, with that explained....wonder if SOY would do the same?

Debelli, No have not been to Wards yet. Have not been able to go with my husband on his trips up there because I've always had a meeting the Saturdays he's gone up. Maybe in March I will be able to get by there.

It was so beautiful today. Our grapefruit tree is just blossoming and the aroma is wonderful. We used to have an orange grove down the street from our house--until they built a subdivision there--and our grapefruit tree reminds me of the heavenly scent or orange blossoms that used to drift down from that grove. The oak leaves are falling profusely, piling up in huge mounds, and everyone has their allergies acting up because of the oak leaves and pollen. The new spring green leaves will be appearing soon. Isn't it funny that we have the leaves to fall here in the spring, and you northern gals have leaves fall in autumn. Actually, I think it's odd to think of leaves falling in the spring!! But down here in FLa. they do that.

Our new sofa is coming this Tuesday, so our son carted off our old sofa and loveseat for his house. They were nice leather, but just uncomfortable for us short folks.

Talk to y'all tomorrow.

Hello all-
Don't have much to report. Seems I eat a lot more on weekends when I'm hanging around the house as opposed to during the week when I have to pack a lunch and plan fruit for snacks. Guess that's probably the same for everyone.

DEB...thanks for clearing up the oatmeal and berries stuff. We've got regular oatmeal too so I'll give away the instant.

BOB...just want to say how much I enjoy reading your posts! You've got a great personality which shines through with your posts (and I think that's hard to do on the Internet). You are making my mouth absolutely water for that Uncle Wiley's stuff. My dad is from South Carolina and it sounds like he would LOVE some good southern veggies fixed with that seasoning. We may go to a super walmart tomorrow so I'll be sure to look.

JOY..glad to hear your wrist hasn't interfered with your stamping!! Four friends and I stamped 65 baby shower invitations on Saturday. It was fun and tiring too. We must be crazy to be inviting so many ppl. Oh well, the more the merrier. Your pancakes sound yum! I'll tell DH about them. Good question about low fat high protein. I'd like some suggestions too. Off the top of my head I'd say beans...I think they have good protein and I know they have fiber.

QUILTER...sounds like you had a good weekend! How cool that the waiter could give a good suggestion. All this talk about steamers is making me curious. I should check out in the garage (my husband has so much junk out there..I see something new every time I go out there) b/c I think we might have one in a box somewhere. That would be great for veggies! I really need to incorporate them into my eating habits. Its a struggle for me.

Rhroo...sounds like you had the same weather we did. Yuck! So tired of it. I love snow but I'm ready for spring. The thought of being able to go out with out having to wear a heavy coat, scarf, gloves, boots, is like heaven to me. Oh to go out with only a light jacket. I can't wait.

CHERI...how wonderful it must have been to visit with the latest addition to the family. It must have been smiles all around.

TO ALL...hope your week gets off to a great start tomorrow!

Ashley
