Default Fab 40's and Fit 50's! #167

Hi everyone,
thought the old thread was becoming too long and bulky.

Es,
Thanks for the recipe, it sounds so easy. I didn't know there were reduced fat premade crusts available. I'm trying it this weekend.

Tomorrow my brother Tim and his wife will spend the night. We usually go to their home for New Year's Eve, but Joe is on call so we're hosting. We've got a ton of appetizers and munchies, and will play games.

Joe and I have been discussing our lifestyle, and where we want to be by this time next year. We've both got some changes to make in the way we've been eating, and should no longer ignore the fact that we're both out of shape.
So...tomorrow on New Year's Eve we'll have our last hurrah and then focus on eating healthier in the future, as well as incorporating exercise into our lives on a permanent basis.

What is everyone doing for New Year's?
I wish you all a Happy and healthy New Year. Stay safe.
love,
~Jen

Hi Girls

Jen, I was thinking about how long I've been here & being on the same roller coaster for so long. I quickly changed that thought & said to myself I can't change the past but I can change the future. This will be the year to reach my goal. I'm so sick & tired of procrastinating. I like staying home New Years Eve. There will be 6 of us. I bought appetizers. I'm making coquito which has tons of calories! It's made with coconut in the can, condensed milk, evaporated milk, cinnamon, nutmeg & rum. Some people add eggs but I don't. It's delicious. I'm making the ww pie. David loves it.

Wishing you all a HAPPY, HEALTHY, PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR.

I love u's,
Essie

Default Happy New Year!

Happy and Healthy New Year to all my buddies!

Mike and I are on our way to celebrate with a bunch of old friends who have a party at their home every year.

I am bringing a recipe from a 1993 WW magazine. It is a mushroom pie. When we moved in 1998, when New Year's Eve came I thought I had lost the recipe, but I finally found it last spring in a box of old magazines that I had in the basement. It was a favorite and now I can finally make it again. a big slice is 5 pts. But we have it as part of a buffet, so the typical slice is probably half that.

Es, your recipes sound fantastic. Both the low fat cheesecake and the other one too. I love coconut and spices.

Whew, I hope I can get back on track, I start on Monday.

Love ya's

Sandy

Happy New Year

I hope everyone is home resting.

Sandy, Wow a 1993 recipe. Their recipes are so good. Hope you had a nice time at the party.

I was in bed by 12:30. Pete caught a cold. My oldest sister always leaves early. Dave & his girlfriend left right after 12. This is their first New Years together. I think she's "the one".

Monday will be my first time trying Core. I'm going shopping tomorrow.

Happy New Year!

We had a nice evening w/my bro. and sil. Didn't go to bed till 3 a.m....so needless to say, today we're lazing around! Jess and Joey both had their own plans, but each called at midnight, so I was happy about that. Joe and I are still in our jammies, and I think we'll stay that way all day. I've been fighting a cold for about a week, and today my voice appears to be going. Don't feel ill though, it's just more of a nuisance thing.

I'm kind of glad to put 2004 behind us...it had its highs and lows. We did a bit of reflecting last night about what the year brought, and took away. Am looking forward to a new year.

I hope all of you enjoy a year of peace, good health, prosperity and that you are surrounded by the love of family and friends.

Jen, staying in your PJ's is so cool. We only do that once a year. Pete said his cold has him feeling weak so we went out & rented movies. I'm in my nightgown just chillin. Today was a beautiful day. It felt like Spring. I made chicken breast with vegetables today. I have to eat light after all the junk I put in my body. Monday is THE DAY to start over. I can't quit. Let's start a challenge for the New Year. A Valentines Day challenge?

Linda & Zoe we miss you. Stop by & say hi.

Terri, hope to hear from you soon.

Well ladies, enjoy your evening.

Till tomorrow

Love,
Es

Default Almost There

Good Morning Buddies

Mike and I are heading out to see a Patriots Football game today. He is the biggest sports fan (mostly football and baseball, but he follows everything).
I will have fun just enjoying his enthusiasm. We have to really bundle up, I think it was 13 degrees overnight, and the highs will be in the 30's.

Es, I really enjoyed eating all the outrageous, fun stuff over the holidays. I am ready for a fresh start on core tomorrow morning. I bought shredded wheat and oatmeal, broccoli, zucchini, and whole wheat pasta. But I don't plan to eat them all at one sitting
What is on your shopping list?

Jen, I hope everyone is healthy and the colds are on the way out. We made it through the holidays in one piece. Back to work tomorrow for all?

Hope you can all check in soon and everyone is well: Terri, Dianne, Ruth, Zoe, Janie and Linda

Luv ya's
Sandy

Hello

Holidays are over.(whew) Back to work tomorrow. It's been really quiet at work. There's going to be 5 layoffs. I'm safe since I've been there so long but there are going to be some changes. I might have to work out of 2 offices.
Whatever it takes.

Sandy, have fun at the football game. It's nice & sunny here today. Kind of cold but nice. I'm going food shopping. I'm buying some lean cuisines, oatmeal, whole wheat pasta, vegetables, fruit, tuna & chicken. I'll make some more of the WW cheesecake in case I really can't take it. The lean cuisines are for lunch. I'll use pts from flex. We have 35 but I'll use them wisely. I plan to exercise at least 3 days. I haven't exercised in a while.

Have a great day!

Hi Jen, Dianne, Terri, Janie, Zoe, Ruth & Linda.

Hugs,
Es

Happy New Year my buddies!

We spent New Year's Eve at Darren & Lizettes (right next door - so cool not to have to get on the highway to get back home!). We had fun - they have a dvd game of family feud which we played - the only problem is you really do FEUD! OMG, we had to all calm down Monica and the kids (Jen, yes Monica is my DIL - she & my son Steven (Florida) are separated ) were here until yesterday and we drove them back to Philadelphia.

Well, looks like we're all up for a fresh start - I'll be leaving in 20 mins for my first ww meeting of the new year - I think its probably been 7-8 mos. since I've been to ww. I weighed myself on monica's scale yesterday and thought OMG - I'd better stop this madness now! Then I came home and started reading my People magazine and it had an article about some people who lost weight and how they did it. Well I read about 2 sisters who weighed 337 and 308 and they showed the before and after pictures. They both now weigh 157 lbs and they did it with ww! So, I felt like that was the perfect article to have read to get me jump started If they could lose 183 lbs./153 lbs. then I can definitely lose 25 don't ya think?

Anyway, I'm up for the challenge also. As soon as I leave the meeting, I'm going to get my "supplies" for work, home, etc.

Let's do this my friends! We can support each other as always.

Talk to you's later, have a great day everyone!

Hugs,
Dianne

It's good to hear that we're all heading in the right direction. As soon as Joe gets out of the shower we're heading to the grocery store to stock up on the good stuff. I vowed to bring a veggie tray and bottled water to work for everyone tomorrow.....the dept. has been loaded with sweets every day since Thanksgiving! Since I'm still battling this cold, I'm going to pick up a pre-made tray, however, as I don't think it's right to cut, slice and chop for everyone else when I may be contagious.

I got on the scale and was ready to shoot myself. I know I've been slowly gaining over the last year......and now I'm facing it. Here's to a year of eating right and exercising for us all.

Sandy,
hope you have a great time at the game!

Es,
thank goodness you don't have to worry about a layoff. Good luck.

Dianne,
that article in People is just what we need to hear right now. I'll check it out at the store.

HI to all...Terri, where are you?

~Jen

Default I'd love to join you all!?

Hi! I'm so happy to find this thread. This forum isn't the easiest to find my way around, or perhaps it's me.
Anyway, I'm Kim. I'm 42 (that sounds so unreal), Mom to one, 80 lbs overweight. The only way I've ever successfully lost weight before was moving to Hawaii and getting active, or WW. Since moving back to HI is out of the question for now I need to get back on the program. I LOVE flex points as the easiest way to get me to eat something is to tell me I can't! I got all my materials out and am off to the store when the baby (15 mos old) wakes up to stock up. I have most of the garbage out of the house, will take the rest to work tomorrow for all those skinny guys to eat. I have to look for a meeting I can actually get to.
I'm also working Dr. Phil's 7 keys for the mental/emotional angle, but his food plan is a little too harsh for me. For exercise, I belong to Ladies workout express - a curves-type 30 min circuit, and the above-mentioned baby keeps me hopping. I haven't been to LWE since Nov 1st. I had a miscarriage and starting smoking again, quit working out and started eating with abandon all within a week.
Since I'm also quitting smoking tomorrow, my plan is to log all my food this week, eat good stuff, and come up with my own point range. What do you think of that idea? I have quit smoking many times, the last time for 3 months. I believe according to WW, I should be around 28 pts right now.
I hope to get to know you all better. How do you keep up with the group? I subscribed to the thread, which might help. How often does it change?
Thanks much!

Kim,
Welcome! It's been a bit quiet in here lately, but I'm sure we'll hear from the others now that the holidays have come and gone. They're all very friendly and supportive, a wonderful group.
Good luck this week! Looking forward to getting to know you.

Talking

Good morning!

I am new to the WW boards. My name is Tina and I am 44. I am married and have a teenage daughter. I have been on WW for a year now. Slow and steady! I had a rough holiday with family in town and I did the cooking. Anyway, a new year and I'm ready to get back on plan. I need to motivate myself to get more exercise in. I am a teacher and will be going back tomorrow (actually today is a workday, but DD is having all her wisdom teeth removed today so...) plus I am taking a night class a couple of days a week at the local college so I will have to get exercise in when I can. Wishing everyone a Happy New Year!

Welcome Kim and Tina, I always feel this is such a great time of year to get started together, we are in good company, and no one is likely to offer us the treats like they did all of last month.

My name is Sandy, I am 52, married to Mike for 28 years. We have two sons, Dave who is 23 and graduating college, and Greg, who is almost 18 and is graduating high school, and in the midst of applying to college. This forum is such a great place for WW support. We also have built friendships that go beyond WW for all kinds of support that we give each other. I hope that we all make 2005 the year where we reach for our goals and stay motivated to achieve them.

Talk to you all later,

Sandy
