Talking Thursday Chatters

Here we go with a brand new Chatters thread.
Everyone is welcome to come and chat, give others ideas and, by all means, support.

Susan, I am so sorry about your friend. There's not much else to say except that I'm sending you a giant hug right now.
Please take good care of yourself and don't rush back to work.
You will get there when your knee/leg/calf feel right.

Everyone have a very good Friday.

Tina

good morning all

Well, even though I haven't been posting I've dropped by everyday. Glad to hear everyone had a good holiday. Susan sorry about your friend.

Today is day 31 of not smoking(not even 1 puff)-I am using the patch. I'm trying to watch what I eat & I'm still walking to work.

It's a little cold here right now but as long as it's not windy & a person's dressed warm it's not too bad.

Hope everyone has a good weekend

Wow, you guys are busy posters - which is great. Just posted for the first time yesterday on the WI thread. I'm the only woman I know that will lose the most right before TOM, body just releases tons of water, .

Anyway, things are looking decent and I'm still in control. Didn't even feel like doing a post WI celebration, if you know what I mean . DH and I are headed to the mountains this afternoon for a ski/ride weekend so I won't get to spend any more time with you wonderful people until Sunday night. I may be too sore to type when I get back, though, still learning to snowboard .

Everyone have a great weekend.

Ok let's try this again... I started and then it bumped me off and made me log in again. Weird!!

Thanks about my friend. I haven't seen her in years but she was friend in high school. She is the first friend that I know of that has died from our class.

Sis, I'm so glad your mom is doing better. I don't blame you about not going to the meetings. It can get expensive. You have a good strategy if you start to gain.

Maureen, What can I say?? Way to go on 31 days!! My hat goes off to you!!

Tammy, how are you doing?

Tina, Thanks for starting the new thread. And for always being so positive!

Cindy, You are off to a great start! We are so glad that you joined us!

I'm 40 and have about 60 pounds to lose. I just had partial knee replacement on Dec. 11 and will be returning to work part time next week. I am a special ed teacher at a local middle school. I have no children but have 5 dogs, 5 cats and 2 horses. I live on 11 acres. I live about 30 miles north of Dallas, Tx in McKinney.

I too am a "lifetimer" however, I gained all of it back and each pound brought a few friends with them. However, I plan to get rid of it this time.

Well Ladies, I have once again written a novel. I seem to write almost as much as I talk.

Ok, I finally realized why I eat.... I always thought I knew but today it jumped up and slapped me in the face..... Pat had to go to a meeting today. Once he walked out the door all I wanted to do was eat. Then I got to thinking about when he isn't home and what my pattern is. It always revolves around food. I've always thought I knew but it was so obvious that I eat when I'm lonely. Just thought I would share my realization.

Hi all!
Cynthia welcome to the group! Sounds like we have something in common... I too loose at TOM time... LOL. I just figured I was the only one, but I like to see the scales move downward!! Enjoy your ski weekend!

Susan, sorry to hear about your friend. I 2nd what Tina says, take care of your self and don't rush back into work too fast.

Way to go Maureen on your not smoking! You're doing great, keep it up. How far do you have to walk to work?

Sis doing WW at home can work out great... that's the way I'm doing it right now. We have the knowledge, and the books..etc so we CAN do it.....

I finally went to the Dr today, he gave me a couple prescriptions to take... and then I get back to work, and the school calls to tell me my Child is sick.... so now we have a house full of sick people! I will W/I tomorrow morning... and hopefully have a good loss... been journalling all week.. so we will see!

Have a good weekend all....Dee

Susan, I am so sorry to hear about your friend. I've lost a few friends from my high school class and it isn't easy at all.

WTG Maureen!!!!!! Keep it up on the no smoking!!

Cynthia, I would not be able to type, walk, or do anything if I went snowboarding! I am a klutz. Hope you have a great time.

Sis, keep us posted on your mom. Glad she is out of the hospital.

Dee, you need to be healthy!!! Don't overdo it! Now I sound like all of you talking to me for the past month or so with the bronchitis!!

Bob and I are changing insurance companies. I have been approved BUT only for a 5 year plan because of my height vs. weight comparison. WHEN I lose enough weight (I don't know how much enough is), I can reapply for a longer policy. I don't know whether I should check with other companies and see what they say? I know I'm too heavy, and I know that I need to lose. Maybe this will be my incentive to fianlly do it.

I'm heading for Curves in about 30 minutes. I've decided to do the Walking off the Pounds on Tues. and Thurs. and I'll go to Curves on Mon., Wed., and Fri. or Sat. That should help out with the weight loss.

Enough for now! Talk to you later.

good morning,

Hope everyone is doing well this morning. My big outting for today is to get my haircolored. YEA!! It really needs it. Pat is taking me and going to get his hair cut too.

Dee, take care of yourself!!! Let us know about WI.

Tammy, I would check with some other insurance companies. I can't believe they would do that. Your exercise plan sounds good. I can't wait to get back to Curves.

Cindy, I'd come back from snowboarding in a body cast! I'm a major klutz!! I've always wanted to ski but know that I it wouldn't be pretty. Hope you are having fun!!

Wonder if we'll get any winter mix today! They are saying we might. I'll let you know tomorrow. Have a good day!

How is everyone doing today? It's cold and wet here. Brrr.....
Here's a recipe from my husand's WW leader.

Chocolate-chip blondies

Ingredients
2 cup all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp table salt
1 1/2 cup unpacked brown sugar
6 Tbsp light butter, softened
2 large egg white(s)
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/3 cup water
6 oz mini chocolate chips, about 3/4 cup
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F. In a small bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt.
In a large bowl, beat brown sugar and butter until fluffy. Add egg whites and vanilla. Gradually beat in flour mixture alternating with water. Stir in chips.
Spread into a foil-lined 9- x 13-inch baking pan. Bake until golden, about 20 to 25 minutes. Cool on wire rack. Remove foil and cut into 24 two-inch squares.
POINTS
Serves 24
POINTS per serving 2

I think I'll try these out.

Hey Tammy, I had a similar experince with getting life insurance. I was quoted one price, but then when I had to do the physical thing they raised the rates because my height/weight ratio. They told me the rate could go down if my H/W ratio was normal (according to them) but I'd have to maintain it for over a year before the ins. would lower the rates...LOL

Thanks for the recipe Tina, it sounds delicious good!
I think I will try it next time I need to do a dessert thing.
Do you and your DH not go to the same WW meetings?

I'm doing better health wise, and my living room was nearly dust free by the time company came over. Now to get my kid feeling better (but she hates taking her meds for that). As for WI today I did great... posted on the WI thread a loss of
2 pounds this week!!

Hi,

Dee, great job on your loss!! Glad you are feeling better! Hope your daughter takes her meds.

Tina, will you make the dessert for us? Share please It sounds ugly down there. Just cold here.

I just got off the phone with my best friend in MI. We haven't seen each other in 71/2 years. We are meeting this summer in St Louis. Now that should be a blast!! We'll spend the entire time laughing! I can't wait. Now I have to get focused so I get in shape. I can do it!

Have a good one and stay warm.

I'm going to show my ignorance here. When there is more than one page to a thread, how can you get to the next page? I have been having alot of problems getting into this site and getting to read things. It is taking forever, and then I read things and can't get past one page.

Tammy, that is not a silly question.
At the top of the thread--on the left side--it will give numbers 1 2 3 if there is more than one page. You just click on the number you want to read. Ex: If there is 1 2 and you want to read the last message posted, click on the "2" and it will take you to the last page of the thread. Does that help?

Dee, what age is your daughter? I don't know of any child that likes medicine!
And, my husband goes to a noon meeting downtown, near his work. There's not a good evening time that we both can attend.

Maureen, congrats on your willpower.

Viola, how are you doing?

Kady--are you having snow?

Maggie and Cindy, I'm so glad y'all are with us.

Sis, take some time for yourself now that your mom is home.

Susan, have you decided if you're going back to work part-time?
And, having a goal like visiting with your friend, is a great way to lose. I'll have to set a goal. However, I'm doing good since I'm journaling.

I kind of went "wild" today. I made pancakes this morning and had 2 pieces of pizza for supper.

Morning,

You know when I can sleep late I never can and when I have to get up early I can never get up!!

Yes, I'm going to "try" to go back to work part time. If I have a hard time tomorrow I'll take the rest of the week off. Pat helped me with that solution. He is so logical. My principal's words were "good." He has missed me. I'm under a lot of restrictions like no stairs, can't lift or carry anything, must use crutches, not a lot of walking, must sit. I'm going to be sitting and doing paperwork most of the time. Pat will take me and pick me up. I'm a little excited and very much nervous.

My goal is to lost at least 40 pounds by the time I meet my best friend in St. Louis this summer.

Tammy, you can also go to the bottom of the page and get a subscription to the thread and it will automatically take you to the post after your last post. I don' t know if you use that feature of not. I love it.

Tina, that pizza and pancakes sound good! Yum!

Stay warm!
