Hi all,

Well, there is nothing more frustrating than having a near perfect week, exercising 6 days of that week and getting a gain on the scale!! (1.2lbs) You know, though, I had to really laugh, because it was one of those nights where the rings were loose and I thought for sure there would be a loss. NOT!! I have experienced these too many times to count, so now all I do is laugh and go on. Everyone says next week, so that's what I shoot for. Continue the journaling and exercising and hope it catches up to me soon. I can truthfully say though that I have to be toning, cuz the pants are getting real loose. Even the new pair I just bought one size smaller than all my other ones I normally wear. I just have this image of a 195 person that is all muscle!!

Just for yucks I went back each day and figured my points as if I was journaling from am to pm and they really are not out of whack.

Have to get some supper for now. Hope everyone is doing well.

Sheri - You'll probably drop it all by tomorrow AM right? I read on another site that one woman on WW only weighs in once every 4 weeks because she fluctuates so much from week to week. I guess everyone's body is different - glad it doesn't discourage you. 6 days of exercise it WONDERFUL!!!! I've been walking about 1.5 miles everynight but tonight I went for a bike ride with husband and daughter. UGH - DIFFERENT MUSCLES!!! I live near the beach - there are no hills - but you would have thought I was pedaling in San Francisco! My heart was beating so fast after we got back and my legs almost gave out from under me. Think I'll be adding that to my exercise list at least 2 days a week. Have a great week OP!

Cynthia: Good for you - I love listening to the pine trees on my walks. You are so right that it gives you time to think just why you are doing this. Keep it up!

Hi! Just logging in after a long break. We had to switch internet carriers -- trying AOL now. I promised hubby I wouldn't stay to "chat" long so he could check out all the features.

Will write soon!

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to pop in and say hello. I am slowly but surely getting better. I had to go to the doc again. I still have the bronchitis junk and all this other junk that is going around. They do not want me taking anymore antibiotics because they had to give me the 2weeks of them the month before last. I think all the stuff he gave me is starting to help, even though one is a steriod...YUCK...I went to WW yesterday for the first time in about 3 weeks..they were closed for Easter and then I was too sick to get out of bed last weekend...I was only up 4 pounds with TOM and steriods so I was a happy camper...my jeans had gotten so tight again I just knew it was more...thank goodness I have still been eating properly or it would have been worse.

I guess I better run. I am trying to clean a little and rest every hour or so. I don't want this going into pneumonia.

Hope you all have a great Sunday and I miss you guys.
Hope to be back on a regular basis soon.
Love
Setina

Hey folks, I may sound a bit surly now and then as these hockey playoffs progress. Certain members of the team are not pulling their load and the outcome is not as sure as I once thought .

Sheri, as you stated in your post, there are other ways to gage success rather than just the scale. The main thing I think for most of us is to get smaller physically, and it certainly sounds like you are doing it, so keep up the good work. Those water gains can be a pain.

Kim, that's exactly why we have to change our workouts now and then. The body gets used to certain motions and become more efficient at them, thus not burning as much fat and calories as it did when we first started. How's the butt? At least you survived the ride .

JD, have fun with your new toy. However, keep in mind that AOL is not the entire internet, so you may lose access to some things. It is a kind of portal, but not a complete open gate like Netscape or Internet Explorer. AOL is also the king of censorship. I still laugh when I remember their fiasco of trying to prevent anything to do with porn from coming over their site. The women who were on the BREAST cancer support boards were LIVID!!!!! Also, from what I hear, people still get kicked off a lot so make sure to do a <cntrl> c on any of your long posts just in case you have problems getting it posted. It will save you a lot of frustration.

Setina, I figured you were still under the weather when we hadn't heard from you in so long. Sorry about the gain and the steroids. I know my mom was on an all-natural kick for a while and refused to take antibiotics of any kind - something she read claimed they were the anti-christ. I think she found some natural subsitutes. Maybe I can find out what they were if you are interested.

I'm excited about my WI tomorrow, I feel that I'll get that 25-lb magnet, but I don't want to count on it too much, hate those disappointments. And I better get outside and get my morning walk in while it is still sunny.

Default WOOOOHOOOO!!

Just had to report in. I struck the jackpot at WI today. I lost 6.2 lbs. for a total fo 27.4 lbs. gone for good. I got my 25-lb magnet, 25-lb. gold star, and the best - my 10% keyring. I'm looking at it right now as I type. I never thought I'd get my hands on one, other than through ebay, I've started and stopped so many times. But I guess deciding to stick to it through easy and hard times has really paid off. I really feel I'll get to goal tonight.

Now if only the Avalanche win tonight it will just complete my day .

P.S. I've updated my photo page on my web site. Just click on the following: http://home.talkcity.com/WorkoutPl/ww_queen/photos.htm

Way to go Cynthia.... I'll see you over on the 225 lb board now. 6.2 in one week????? I need to look over your exercise log there - I'm doing something wrong! Wow - Good job!!!! Your pics looks great.

Setina - I was on antibiotics 8 times in 2000 - finally decided to see a pulmonologist - it is asthma. He put me on steroids and singulair to clear it up. It took about 4 weeks but my life was turned around. Now I am seeing a homeopathic Dr. to try to look for a more natural way to solve this dilema... he has me on Natrum Mur which seems to be working very well - no more wheezing or waking up with that disgusting congestion in my nose and throat.

I myself am struggling this week - I am craving salt like there's no tomorrow. I am forcing myself to get up tomorrow and walk my 1.5 miles at 6AM - I need to regain control. I've 3 poor days in a row now .... even though I know "I said" I wouldn't let the .5 gain discourage me. Chat with you all later!

Good afternoon, Folks!

Cynthia -- EXCELLENT!!!! You must have really been working hard on your program these last few weeks to have such an impressive loss. Keep up the good work!

Kim -- I empathize completely with your bad 3 days. My first 4-1/2 weeks were almost perfect -- and the scale showed it. Then I started getting comfortable and wasn't tracking much (one week I didn't track at all). I know better! I had a gain last week of 1 pound -- That's one pound of my 6.8 hard lost ones! I was soooo mad at myself! But I tried to forget that and be better last week. I track for most of the week and walked my buns off (I wish!). Lost 1/4 pound. This week I'm tracking, drinking (water), and walking. Those are my three "musts" for each day. I want that 3/4 pounds back! You can do it, too! Please repeat after me: "I am worth the time and effort." Say this to yourself each morning in front of the mirror (preferrable without the toothbrush in your mouth -- Yuck! ) Say it again at lunch time (if you're shy, check for feet under the bathroom stalls first. ). Say it one more time before bed. Positive reinforcement does not have to come from others -- we need to tell ourselves it's OK to be a little selfish and carve out time from our days for ourselves.

Here is a quote from my last WW meeting (guys and woman w/o kids will need to modify this): "Happy woman = Happy Mom = Happy family" If you're not happy in your body, it shows in your attitude in general (think about it -- you're first inclination will be to deny it but for most of us it's true). How you feel about yourself is reflected in your overall attitude. When I take time for myself (planning OP meals, excercising, etc), I feel better about myself. My husband says he's already seen an improvement. My daughter (remember Jen?) says I'm not a cranky as I was before joining WW.

OK. I'll get off the soap box now.

Gotta go anyway. Lunchtime is almost over.

Kim, once I get in a groove and work the program properly I tend to have two large losses followed by a maintain, just how my bod does it. I have to celebrate those large losses as they come my way . Stay in within your points no matter what it takes - even if it means getting mega activity points!!!!

Jd, ditto on the attitude adjustment. DH ALWAYS prefers me when I follow the program and for the life of him can't figure why I go off when it makes me so darn happy to be on!!!! He says I'm much nicer towards him as well, and I don't "snipe" as often. Not sure how to take that one. His definition of sniping is when I tell him to pick up after himself .

Not much going on today, got to pay off the truck and the car so that is nice. Some nasty person told me it's supposed to snow here tomorrow or something, but I'm not going to believe them. If it does, I'll just have to hit the gym.

Hi all,

Well, was down .2 tonight. Better than a gain. Have to admit that I wasn't very good last week, so I must have been down last week and it just didn't show on the scale. Darn, wish I had been better last week to show a nice loss!! I did sabatoge myself a bit with the "I was so good last week and gained, so I'm slacking this week!!" To my defense I am in PMS zone, so that doesn't help either!

Cynthia - Go girl!! You are doing great. And I was glad to hear your team won the other night too. I'm not really into hockey, but listened to the sports report just to see how Colorado did. Checked out your photos too. I have the exact same poses from when I started, and when I hit 200. What a difference!! It's nice to see the changes yourself, rathering than just hearing it.

Setina - how are you doing? I could not imagine being sick like you are (and the migraines also). Sending you some get well vibes!! It's hard enough on this program when you feel good, but even worse when you are feeling ill. The last thing I want to do is think about points when I feel like ****!! Hang in there. I will always remember your pictures on your website when I joined these boards!!

Kim in NJ - walking at 6AM. I am envious. Wish I could get my butt out of bed and exercise at that hour. I have weeks where I feel like I could exercise for hours a day, and then weeks, like the past one, where I could care if I exercised at all.

Joanne - It's really weird, because I was thinking of you this weekend and when I pulled up the board there was your post. Beautiful weather here in NH this week, huh. Feels like July!! I know what you mean about getting comfortable. I've been there for weeks, and wish I could just get my act together. Actually (in case you missed the post), I did the week before last and gained 1.2 pounds. Very frustrating, but I know this is a life-long journey for me, so I'll get there eventually.
Is your daughter still going to WW? Mine is and is doing horribly. She is so frustrated, but still wants to keep going. She has gained 11 pounds from her beginning weight last August. I'm wondering if I should bring her to the doctors. She has gained at least a pound or more every week the last two months. I see what she eats at home, and unless she is really cheating when I'm not home, I can't imagine why she is gaining like she is. I feel guilty accusing her. We also do not have a lot of junk food in our house!! Her mood is really bringing me down too.

Well, this is one of my longest posts ever!! Sorry to ramble on. If anyone has any advice on my daughter, I sure would appreciate it!!

Hi, Sheri.

Nope. Jen dropped out after just 4 weeks. She never really got into the program. She's not ready to be serious about her diet. She's gained weight -- all of her clothes are too tight but she won't go near a scale. Oh, well. I do what I can by strictly limiting junk food in the house. I'm sorry to hear how poorly your daughter is doing. I hope everything is OK with her. Please keep us posted.

I had an awesome weekend so far!!! I not only lost 2 pounds (for a total of 8 in 7 weeks) BUT I also went clothes shopping today and had to buy a size smaller in pants. I've lost a total of 1-1/2" off my stomache and my old 26s are just too baggy. Lord, I never thought I'd be happy to say I bought a size 24.

Gotta go. I've started a side-business (Avon) and I need to check out their website for ideas.

Hi everyone... so sorry I haven't been around to post for awhile ... but it's for a great reason - "I've been so ACTIVE"... Yipee!!!! I got off my slump from last weekend and I forced myself to get back on track. I walked 2.17 miles on Friday and 2.85 on Sat. It was beautiful here in NJ. You know for those of you not near the ocean, I wish you could be here just for the walks on the boardwalk - that was the 2.85 one on Sat. The boardwalk is flat, there is a rythm because of the way the boards creak with everyone jogging, running and walking. The ocean breeze is so cool - the sun was so hot, I was walking 3.5 mph, my sunglasses had sweat dripping down my face but I was not overheated because of the breeze. I really think it makes people stay there longer because when I walk around my neighborhood I get overheated by 1.5 miles. Oh and (Sheri)... I tried the 6AM walking 3 times this week. I am MUCH better at night or in the afternoon because my muscles are loose. I'm also following (Cynthia's) idea to mix up her workouts - I rode my stationary bike 4 times this week in the AM instead. I knew I saved that ACDC cd for a particular purpose

I lost 2 lbs on Saturday and am looking forward to another OP week. It sounds like everyone is in the groove here. BTW... my mom who joined on 3/24 with me has lost 23.5 lbs. in the same 5 weeks that I have lost 8!!!! She's like the WW guru or something. She swears she's not underestimating her pts... but I can't figure out how she does it. In 1970 she lost 60 lbs or so in 5.5 months!!!! And she's not exercising like a nut either now. I need a metabolism like that!

Have a great week everyone. I'll be thinking about you. You know I think about all of you when I am walking or riding my bike or eating my WW 0 pt soup.... but when I see something OFF PROGRAM.... I can never recall your names need to change that thinking!
Bye, Kim

Default The Sun is Out!!

Yippee, thought I'd never see it again. I even spent most of the day yesterday getting the yard into some kind of respectable shape. The peonies are finally taking - after 3 years. Thank goodness cause I spent a little bit of money on those 4 suckers, more than anything else in our yard.

I switched to Tuesday WIs so I can hike on Mondays. I'm going to use all the darn hiking books I have and plan various day trips. And I really enjoyed the Tuesday meeting, though I would have liked it better had I been down another 0.4 lbs. I lost 2.2 but needed 2.6 to make it 30 lbs. lost and be able to add another charm and collect another star. Greedy, aren't I ?

I'm really going to enjoy the Tuesday meetings I think. The group is so supportive and the leader is a hoot.

Jody, I'm so sorry to hear that Jen is no longer doing WW. Maybe your good example will pay off in the long run and she'll work on her eating habits when she's ready. That's the most any of us can do, you can't monitor another person 24/7 to see what is going into their mouths. Just keep healthy and good food around and eliminate as much junk as possible. When I look back on my childhood I just wish my family had been more active. We lived in Colorado but never skied, hiked, or anything other than car camp. Dad preferred to watch motocross and car racing rather than participate in any kind of sport, same with mom.

Kim, I'm with you on the morning exercise. I tried for a week one time to get my walk in before work. Man, I almost ruined my achilles tendons. I could barely walk in the morning after a few days of that. I have to wait a bit for the muscles to "wake up" and be ready to work. The mountains must have the same effect as walking near the ocean. I can hike for a few hours and not even notice the time go by, but when I walk around the park near home that 40 - 60 minutes seems to take an eternity . Congrats on that loss!! ACDC sounds like perfect music to bike to. I use the Matrix CD now and then but man you really have to get the legs moving to keep up!!!

Sheri, just keep chanting to yourself "this is a long process" so the next week that you have an undeserved gain you can remember that you will get the loss you deserve eventually - if you stay OP!!

Default Hi Sheri!

Setina told me to post here.

I don't know if you remember me, but we were all posting on the same thread a couple of years ago. I have come back after about a year. Rejoined WW a couple of weeks ago, and have lost 5 pounds. Coming back to 3FC is part of my commitment to this process.

Hello to all those that I don't know! I have been reading your thread and have been very motivated by it! I have 100 to lose, and it is so nice to have a group of people that know EXACTLY where you are!
