Good morning all,

The infamous weigh-in yesterday realized a drop of 1.6 lb.s. Not as much as I would have liked, but I will take it just the same.

This week I am concentrating on eating all my points. An just to prove that, I had two buttertart squares last night that fit perfectly into my weekly points. For the new week, though, I will concentrate on having all my points, but in a more healthy way.

The other stumbling block that I have is with exercise. I have lymphodema, so I do exercise for about 1 - 1 1/2 hours each day doing stretching and strength exercises, but don't see in the book where to count those, or whether they even count. Consequently I haven't counted that type of exercise. I try to do 30 minutes of cardio every day, but, have not been very diligent about it lately.

forkeeps Welcome. I am new, also and lurked for a while before taking the plunge and joining Weight Watchers at Work. I felt badly yesterday after my weigh-in because I didn't have a huge loss. However, I decided to take one week at a time and celebrate that I have lost something. Yeah, you lost, now on to the next week and another loss. Congrats.

rosannestags I don't often eat breakfast, so I think that is the reason that I am not eating all my points. I was sick at home for 1 1/2 years and during that time I would get up with DH, have coffee with him, then back to bed for a while. When I finally go up mid-morning, I would have my breakfast. Now that I am back to work, I get up and have coffee with DH, then off to work...the mid-morning breakfast has been eliminated. I am trying this week to make sure to fit breakfast in at the beginning of the day and try to create a different habit.

somuchfattitude Thanks for the encouragement. You mentioned getting the healthy essentials. Unfortunately, the leader for the group did not do a very good oreientation for the new people at our first meeting. I got the impression that she had something else to do that day and rushed off without much explanation about the plan. I went away with my pocket book and the number of points that I should eat during the day - not much else. I did see the list at the bottom of the tracker about the oils, fruits, veggies, dairy, etc., but don't know what constitutes a serving of those. I have been having those items, but not sure if I am tracking properly.

Today I have a plan to eat all my points and to fit in 30 minutes of cardio tonight. Wish me luck...

Ugh, its only 3 pm and I am sleepy. I think that is one of my PMS symptoms- total exhaustion. I did day 3 week 1 of my C25K... felt good, always feels good. My BF and I went out for vietnamese sandwiches. Wowie, 19 pt lunch... uh ok. I am going to visit a couple of friends in Denver for the weekend, so I am getting on a plane in a few hours. We should have a great time this weekend!

Yesterdays Menu;
Beakfast: Facon and egg, 3pts
Tangerine, 0pts

Lunch:
Subway veggie with lite mayo, 6pts
2 mini mint WW bars, 3pts ( I ate these IN my meeting, lol)

PM Snack:
Left over brocoli, 0pts
kipper snack, 4pts
another WW bar, 2pts

Dinner:
Salad with feta, cherries, almonds, 3pts
Grilled cheese on a wheat sandwich slim, 8pts
fake bacon, 1pt
Tomato soup, 4 pts

Snack attack:
Pop chips, 3 pts

Daily used: 37
They changed my daily point allotment from 44 to 43 from this weeks loss... no big deal.

Sweettooth56 - welcome. I am a newbie myself, though my DH and I are going it alone at home. 1.6 lbs is great! Remember, a healthy loss is .5 to 2 lbs per week so you are right on target.

Smashlers - have a great weekend. Travel safe!

Looks like DH and I are going out to eat tonight instead of tomorrow. And at a local place that doesn't have WW points associated with it. So I am going to try make good choices. They have a field green salad and salmon filet that look tasty so that may be what I get. We will probably split a dessert. I won't even make him get anything chocolate-y since he isn't a fan of chocolate. (how on earth did I end up marrying someone who thinks things can have too much chocolate?) :-D

chickadeee55 02-08-2013 05:22 PM

Hi everyone, tomorrow is my weigh in. A bit worried, don't feel like I have lost, but I will see. Been on plan, trying not think about points so much.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Friday evening.

myfavisblue 02-08-2013 09:07 PM

 Hi guys!

Tomorrow is my official WI too. So I hope I will see a loss :crossed:. Did an unofficial weigh in this morning but I only saw a 0.2 loss. And yesterday gained 0.8. How weird is that huh? Just finished my TOM so was really hoping all that bloat and water retention will be out of system for my WI tomorrow.

Yesterday I was cleaning and re-arranging our pantry I saw this omelette maker. It was a gift given to my uncle like long time ago and this was my first time using it. So made an omelette and hey it was pretty neat and taste good. So I might use this often to make me some omelette. ( I dont make good omelette from the pan. Always ends up messy :D )

Woke up late this morning so had a late breakfast: Omelette with tomatoes and bacon bits 9pts. (not bad).
Snack: Sandwich with laughing cow cheese spread : 5pts
Dinner (later): Green leafy salad. 0 pts ; Yoplait 4pts

But the bad thing about the snack part I ate 4 pcs chocolate and white chocolate coated pretzel. I assume it has high points. Did not track it though because it was bought from a local store and there were no nutrional information on the bag. O well so much for eating good since morning (cant resist!!! )

smashlers hope you dont mind me asking whats "facon"? I was wondering maybe you just missed typed the "b" from "f" :D;)

forkeeps 02-08-2013 11:36 PM

I went a little over my daily points today, something I really haven't done a lot yet. But I feel like I ate healthy stuff so I'm okay with it.

Tomorrow I plan on running 5k since I have an actual 5k race next Saturday, and I'm really out of practice. It usually takes me about 45 minutes, so that ought to be a good number of calories burned, even at my snail's place (I swear, even the speed walkers and the little kids pass me during those things).

See you all tomorrow!

roxannestags 02-09-2013 07:09 AM

Somuchfattitude: congrats on the whoosh! Good luck on the WI. What do you do for a living? I love what I do for a living as well...but Fridays are amazing. Way to be proactive on your meal plans. Thanks for the recipe for the loaded red potatoes. I am going to try that. DH is not OP. He is actually pretty skinny. However, he has slowly been gaining weight and watching me work so hard at losing weight is making him think about his health choices. Your jiggle it class sounds SO fun!

Forkeeps: congrats on the loss and don't feel bad, I GAINED on my first weigh in!Good luck on the 5k tomorrow. I couldn't even imagine doing that.

Sweettooth: congrats on the 1.6 loss

Smashlers: congrats on the C25k. I am supposed to be doing that...but I HATE running. What is facon?

Gooch: my dh doesn't like chocolate either. It's blasphemy! lol. However, he loves pastry and I am not a huge pastry fan

Chickadee: good luck on the weigh in tomorrow!

myfavisblue: I find that I can cycle from a 5lb gain to a 2lb loss in less than a day! It's aggravating!

Yesterday I went over on my daily points again. We went out to applebees. There are a lot of good things on their menu...but I chose a couple things that were bad for me.

DH and I split an appetizer tray. I gave him the larger amount of everything. My weakness was their pretzel and beer cheese. I only allowed myself to have one but oh man, I wanted more! I also had a steak.

2am
smart ones black bean quesidilla -wasn't very good
1 belvita snack (it was a kind of blueberry thin cookie)
1 nutrigrain bar
apple
orange
10 points total

7 am
3 slices bologna (bad for me but I love it)
2 oz pepper jack cheese
peaches
17 total points

noon
applebees bourbon steak
1 wonton taco
1 pub breadstick with cheese
1 fried cheesestick
Total points used 31

Total for the day 60
weekly points used: 18

I do have some weekly points left, 13 but I am going to try and not use them just in case I figured low on anything.

Question for you, if you get fruit that is packed in syrup but drain all the syrup does it still count?

Roxanne

smashlers 02-09-2013 11:07 AM

Roxannestags & myfavisblue facon is my name for Morning Star Veggie Strips. They are soy based fake bacon. I try not to eat too much meat and those little guys are protein laden and yummy!

Yesterday's Menu
Breakfast:eggs and facon,3pts

Lunch: Vietnamese sandwich with spring rolls, 19pts

Pm snack:
WW mint bar, 2 pts

Dinner in Denver!!
Half a pulled pork (quarter bun), fries!, fried calamari and a beer. Holy sh*t. Something like 28pts.

I obviously went over my points for the day. But I knew we were going to do that.. And like you SoMuchFatitude I am trying a variation of the Wendie plan. I tried it a little last week and saw results, but it could have been activity too! I don't want to pig out but I also don't want to not enjoy my vacation!

straightahead 02-09-2013 12:49 PM

Hope this has been a good week for everyone! I have been weighing daily and it looks like I might not lose and might even gain tomorrow! Ugh. I am staying within weight watchers points, but I think this just happens sometimes. If I don't lose tomorrow, I am going to be more careful with portion size (I have a food scale; I should use it!) and stop eating the kashi cookies. I might stop eating my activity points and eat my weekly allowance instead; that might help me eat less when I am not hungry (because I am more cautious about dipping into the weekly allowance...sometimes I see I have activity points for the day and just eat because they are there and not because I am hungry). I also need to increase my activity level at home....I tend to veg out on the couch when I watch tv...there is no good reason I should not be doing exercises with my stability ball and free weights or getting some cleaning done. Oh, I just tried a microwaved sweet potato with 1 tsp canola oil and cinnamon...that was good. Tonight I am trying quinoa...I find it fun to try new healthy foods

Workout-wise, I am bummed that I cannot do the walk/run intervals I was trying to do....my heart rate got up to 180 and I felt like I was gonna fall apart and stopped after 18 minutes...I just need to be patient and tell myself I will get into better shape (I am just frustrated because I knew I used to be able to exercise like that). And I am going to give week 1 of couch to 5k a try this week and work up to doing the workout I failed on...On C25k, after the warmup, the walking to running proportion is 90 sec: 1 minute instead of 1 minute: 2 minutes. I see others are doing (or trying to get motivated to do) the c25k too!

smashlers.....pulled pork and calamari....sounds like it was worth the points! And likewise to the bourbon steak, roxanne.

good luck, forkeeps! I am hoping to get into 5k shape within the year.

myfavisblue and chickadee...hope the weigh-ins were good!

Jennifer 3FC 02-09-2013 01:01 PM

sweettooth56, the orientation is broken up in to 3 different sessions, so you don't get all the basics in each session. They rotate them each week. All of the info is in your book that they gave you - there is a lot of info in the book, but the basics are at the front, and are a quick and easy read. You're going to do fine. :)

chickadeee55 02-09-2013 01:29 PM

OK, did the weigh in, loss .6, total in 3 wks 6 lbs lost. I feel good about this, I understand that a slow loss is a good loss. And if I remember weight seemed to creep on slowly when I wasn't watching it. I want to lose more, but I will take my time at this.
I am going to focus on exercising this coming week, I managed three days last week, so why not keep at it.
I also want to start posting my menus and compare them to others.
When I think back to the bad food choices I made before, I kinda figured I would have lost more weight by now, but I feel good and I feel like I have lost more than a number.
Everyone is doing so good, hope everyone has a safe weekend.

geekmadre 02-09-2013 09:44 PM

Hey everyone! My name is Alyssa and I am new here! I started WW on January 22 and I have lost 7.4 pounds so far. I feel great and am really encouraged.

I am a stay at home mom to a very active 18-month-old boy so I have been struggling to make myself get on the elliptical after he goes to bed.

I am looking forward to getting to know you all!

Daimere 02-10-2013 12:00 AM

I was talking to my weight loss buddy during a workout the other day and I said, "This is the rest of my life." I paused and then said, "And you know what? We're not the weird ones. Everyone else is that eats all this junk food is! We're the normal ones eating more veggies and sensible meals. Everyone ELSE is the weird ones."

Other than that, I might be close to a woosh according to my daily weigh ins (I'm not holding a candle to it since I weighed in very very late). I did go to that bellydance class. It was fun but very tiring for the arms! Wooo. I liked some of the things the teacher said. I've been afraid to practice with my dvds but the way she talked, as long as your moving and making those mind-body connections, you can't totally move wrong.

gooch100 02-10-2013 08:36 AM

Happy Sunday! Apparently exercise is the key to my own weight loss.

I shoveled a ton of snow yesterday and spent about 2 hours chiseling plaster off of the front of the fireplace in our living room so I can re-tile it (my arms are so tired today). Result? 1.6 lb loss and I ate like crap. Didn't go over my points for the week but didn't make good choices. I think I even have some water weight since my wedding ring is tight.

Soooooo, I guess I need to make sure to get my butt on the exercise bike daily.

Today I am hoping to get a bunch of stuff on my To Do list done and to get on that darn bike.

Hope everyone has a good day!

straightahead 02-10-2013 11:13 AM

Welcome, geekmadre! Wow, you are doing great so far! I am sure you are getting extra exercise in when you chase your son around...lol

Great point! Who on earth decided it was a good idea to process food until it becomes nearly unrecognizable as compared to food in its original form... ugh

Weighed in at 199.8 this morning.....small .4 pound loss, but it is my 5% and I am under 200, so yay! And I know of some things I can improve...and I need to change up my menu a bit since I am going to 29 from 30 points.
