February Chat

:cp::cp::cp: IT'S FRIDAY!!!:cp::cp::cp:

And February! Where did the time go? This has been the longest week ever for me. So many pressing deadlines at work and stress. DH and I have vowed to have a relaxing weekend where we spend it relaxing. Tomorrow - we are going to my nephew's football game, probably lunch with my family and then we've discussed a movie, looking at houses (we're house hunting) and shopping at some point in the day. Sunday he has a work meeting and I'm grocery shopping before the Super Bowl. This sounds like an absolutely amazing weekend.

I went to the gym again yesterday which means I hit my goal of 3 times this week. :carrot: Very happy. I spun for 30 minutes and had the most awkward moment of these two guys (friends) hitting on me WHILE I'm spinning alone in the room. SO annoying. The guy was flirting shamelessly and asked me to physically show him how to set his bike up. I don't move but ask him his height and he goes, "Oh girl, I'm 6'. Real tall." and I just looked at him and go, "Yeah, ok dude. My HUSBAND is also 6' and rides on a I. Try that." Insert awkward silence when he realizes I'm married, spends approximately 3 minutes on the spin bike and leaves.

Tomorrow is WI Day!!! Random question - a lot of the threads do a "daily weigh in" thread. Since we weigh in weekly through WW would anyone else be interested in me starting a weekly weigh in thread so you can go back and just edit your entry with your weekly weight and have a place to track it?

Breakfast
Ham, Potato and Gruyere Au Gratin - 7pts

Snack
Apple

Lunch
Lasagna - 10pts

Snack
Orange/Grapes

Dinner
TBD - Something mexican. That sounds good. I was gonna make enchiladas, but not sure now.

Total: 17pts
Remaining: 17pts

gooch100 02-01-2013 08:48 AM

I would be interested in that. I weigh daily (can't help myself) but use Monday morning as my "official weigh day."

Congrats on meeting your gym goal. :bravo:

I need to figure something out for an exercise plan. I need to just start scheduling time every other day and get my arse in gear. Once i get home I tend to get involved in making dinner then after dinner I can't imagine exercising. Maybe I need to become a morning person and do it before work. Of course, pigs may fly before I become a morning person so that will need to be a long term goal, I think.

BTW, I am so glad the week is over too. Sadly next week will be worse with all our dept has going on. Sigh. At least when I am busy I don't want to snack.

Breakfast
1 cup skim milk - 2 pt
3 cup coffee - 0 pts
1/2 c LF yogurt with 1/2 cup black cherries - 3 pts

Morning snack

string cheese - 1 pt

Lunch
Salad with chicken, cheese & FF ranch - 5 pts
Diet Coke - 0 pts
Veggie - 0 pts

Afternoon snack
string cheese - 1 pt

Pirate booty - 3 pts

Dinner
shredded beef wrap (4 oz beef, low carb wrap, .5 oz cheese) - 11 pts
salad w/FF ranch - 1 pt

Used: 28 pts

Will probably use it on pita chips, popcorn and/or a healthy choice fudge bar.

Do you have a recipe for the Ham, Potato and Gruyere Au Gratin ? I have been lurking the last month but that breakfast sounds too good to not ask about.

lsrlosing 02-01-2013 09:08 AM

Hahahaa at the guy in spin class! Congrats on your gym goal! :) House hunting sounds fun...

gooch100 do you like walking? It's easy and you can walk a mile in less than 20 minutes :)

Sooooo glad it's Friday! Geesh this week seemed long for me. Weigh-in tomorrow! *fingers crossed* I have a good loss.

I do but not in 10 degree weather. :D

We are in the midst of a cold and snowy spell here in MI. I walk the dog but even she doesn't like to be out in the bad weather.

I figure since I already walk her, I am considering that my baseline activity level and so I need to add more exercise to get the activity points. I know I just need to get on my exercise bike in the basement.

This looks delicious! I bet it is filling to with the potatoes and ham.

Now I am trying to think if we have all the ingredients at home so I can make this for breakfast tomorrow...

Here is to rocking this February!:hat:

Chele615 02-01-2013 01:34 PM

I am so ready for the new month to begin. January was such a waste for me!!! I don't know what it is, but the past week or so, I have been eating like it's going out of style. I don't know if it's the cold that I have or the fact that TOM is here (or combo of both probably), but I just can't stop eating.

I need to start fresh today! Time to start new and get back into my groove....no more pity parties which just lead to more weight added on and more pity.

BREAKFAST:

Dannon Light n Fit Yogurt - 2 points
Blueberries - 0
Rice Chex (1 cup) - 3 points

LUNCH:

Fiber One Honey Wheat Wrap - 2 points
Deli Turkey (4 slices) - 2 points
Shredded Cheese - 1 point
Carrots - 0
Mini Bell Peppers - 0
Sugar Free Jello - 0

DINNER:

Don't know yet.....going out with friends for dinner, but I'm going to be good!

Orange - 0

LuvCats 02-01-2013 02:36 PM

Wow everyone sure jumped in here and posted a lot for the first day of Feb!

Sooo, silly question... what in the world is spinning? I keep hearing about it but have no clue... I suppose I could go google it but....

I do weekly weigh in (WW online) because I find daily weighing too depressing. Weekly can be too at times so I don't need to set myself up for that daily so I like the idea of a weekly weigh in thread.

Time to take myself off to exercise, lol. We got a stability ball I brought out yesterday... problem is where the TV is (I got a vid on it) is a slick wood floor. I'm hoping the yoga mat I have will help me get a grip and let me do some of the stuff I couldn't begin to do without. Lol fun fun fun.

Have a great day everyone! :)

chickadeee55 02-01-2013 04:59 PM

Happy February to everyone. I am looking forward to my 2nd weigh in tomorrow, want to see how I did.

Thanks for posting the weigh in thread, great idea.

I made the Shepards Pie for dinner last night, very good and there are leftovers. Hmmm.

Next week my goal is to add walking every other day, and see where that goes.

Daimere 02-01-2013 09:23 PM

I enjoyed some pizza and salad for my breakfast before work. Hopefully tonight will be good. We've had some snow and I'm sure there have been some call ins. I've already tracked the rest of my points today. :) Everything fits. :)

roxannestags 02-02-2013 12:29 AM

Well my day of eating went a little off schedule today. I ended up eating some leftovers for my 8 am meal and they were a lot of points and then my twins made blueberry coffee cake so I had two small pieces of that. I used up 3 of my activity points. I am still doing good though. I still have all of my weekly points left and 1 ap and tomorrow is my day off and I am going to do some activity!

I think I am going to order that active link. I'd like to know how many activity points I actually earn.

Roxanne

roxannestags 02-02-2013 07:22 AM

So I had an NSV today. I had my breakfast this morning and felt very hungry even when it was done. I usually bring several pieces of fruit to tide me over for those snacky times just in case I am hungry. Today I only had an orange and a kiwi because we are running out of fruit and I need to go to the store and get some more. (Winter is the worst time for buying fruit, its all hugely expensive and there isn't anything that hasn't been shipped from somewhere)

So anyway, there were some poptarts at work and I was going to grab one. Before I ate it though, I punched it into WW to see how many points it was. 11 points! I decided it wasn't worth the points, had some extra water and am MUCH happier that I chose NOT to splurge on the poptart.

It's nice knowing that I *could* have had it and not worried about it. It's even nicer knowing that I did not have it and have a decent amount of points still left for the day!

UGH. I feel like crap. I shouldn't have drank so much.

fitbyforty 02-02-2013 09:47 AM

Morning ladies, yesterday I came out of the shadows and posted for the first time. For almost 6 years I have been screwing around and never staying committed long enough to lose the weight. The plus side is I haven't gained just stayed the same. This is my year to do it.
I am faithfully back at meetings and tracking and today I have a free assessment at Koko Fit club.I am very excited about that.
I love the support you all are giving each other it is inspiring. So heres to making it our year and onward and downward!

chickadeee55 02-02-2013 01:57 PM

Had my weigh in today, 1.8 lbs lost. I have been on WW two weeks and total loss is 5 lbs. I feel good, mentally and about the program.

This morning I had an 11 pt breakfast which is alot for me and by the time my WW meeting rolled around I was starving, and I asked the leader why I was so hungry. Well, I ate breakfast at 4am and the meeting was at 8:30 - she told me I need to snack inbetween, 4 hours is a long time to go without having something, and our bodies need food.

I guess I forgot it was so long between breakfast and lunch. So, I am raring to go, at the meeting today, my goal is to walk every other day on the treadmill (that is after I unload all the clothes off of it). So I need some support to keep my butt moving and stick to the goal.

Hope everyone has a great day, it is 11 degrees here in WI, but the sun is shining.

smashlers 02-02-2013 03:27 PM

Great job Chickadee! My sister and I are both on the program and whenever we talk on the phone to eachother, before hanging up, we say "Don't forget to pack a snack"... LOL. It's kind of a joke at this point because we say that instead of the normal "goodbye" or "talk to you later".... BUT ITS SO TRUEEEE!

BrettnLaurynsmommi 02-02-2013 04:20 PM

:carrot::carrot:I just started WW this past Wednesday. I decided that I needed to commit to it since I was paying for it. I have always been interested in WW's and just decided to do it. Whats frusterating is my weigh in day and meetings are Wednesday evenings, and I work every Wednesday evening. So I am going to have to find a way to get weighed in.
I didn't realize how much food I was eating before until I had to start tracking everything that goes in my mouth! I have done really well so far, have not had to use any extra points, and I have 4 activity points so far. I feel good. I can't wait for my first weigh in, as my initial weigh in scared me. I didn't realize I weighed that much. Look forward to celebrating loses and getting to know all of you!

myfavisblue 02-02-2013 06:20 PM

Hi guys its been a long time since I visited this forum. Missed y'all! Maybe last of dec or jan not sure now. Anyway how y'all?? Me? Sad to say I am at a plateau mode. Yup been at same weight for this past maybe let say 2-3 months. Well was doing good before the holidays it was going down every WI but then it went back up again and stayed at the same weight (more or less like a yoyo kinda thing). :( Owwww its so hard to get back on track! :( So angry at myself

But today is a new day and month and I promised myself to do something about it. I will strictly follow and track all the food that gets stuffed in my mouth :D. No more excuses! TRACK TRACK TRACK!!! :)

No problem with the workout though cause I work out regulary. I hope as I get back on track I will be able to see a downward trend. :crossed:
Good luck to me!!! :)

Have a good day guys!

roxannestags 02-03-2013 03:58 AM

I am in heaven! I just found out that my FAVORITE chips...that I figured would have to be cut out completely...ketchup potato chips....are only 4 points a serving!!! These chips are very hard to find in my area and I was thrilled to find them again about a month ago but figured I would have to give them up on WW. Now I found out that I don't have to! Only 4 points for a serving!!

So I am in heaven!
It's my day off so, everyone is asleep and I grabbed my dinner:
I have an orange, some strawberries, a pomegranate, smart ones ziti with meatballs AND two servings of my ketchup potato chips!

Add in a new to me Garfield book some reruns of Dr. Who and I have a perfect night lined up! Whoop!!!

Roxanne

gooch100 02-03-2013 09:01 AM

roxannestags - great news about your fav chips. I got that same feeling when I found out that my fav pita chips were 3.5 pts an ounce.

DH and I discovered a great breakfast treat that I wanted to share with you. Trader Joes Triple Berry Bran Muffins. 1 muffin has only 3 pts. They are pretty good (a little dry though). This morning I had 2 muffins with a couple of cups of coffee with 1 cup skim milk, and a pear. I had a 7 point breakfast and am totally full. Best part? 7 g of fiber per muffin. I think that should get stuff moving today. :-D

roxannestags 02-03-2013 09:17 AM

I'll have to try those. We don't have a trader joes on this side of the mountain but I am going to seattle soon and going to stop in one over there. It's a neat store!

Roxanne

straightahead 02-03-2013 03:33 PM

just jumping in i guess. i've been doing online ww since just before the new year and have been lurking a couple days now.

LuvCats 02-03-2013 05:40 PM

Welcome to the newbies. :)

That's so neat when you find something you love is doable and stay OP!

I just exercised 2 1/2 miles or thereabouts on WATP. Lol good thing because I promised my daughter I'd take her to Red Lobster tonight. Won't have my normal food but still should be good. :)

roxannestags 02-04-2013 04:03 AM

Straight: Good job on the great start! It's exciting to be so close to onederland! You did MUCH better with your superbowl splurge that I did with mine!

Mom2three: Welcome! I just started with WW online. I am loving it so far

LuvCats: Red Lobster is my FAVORITE reseteraunt. Good thing I don't go there very often! Good job on the 2 1/2 miles! That is fantastic!

So lets see. Here was my eating for yesterday. Bear in mind that I consdiered it a splurge day. I DID splurge but I didn't use or even go over all my weekly points (rather proud of that). I DID eat more than I wanted. I was full but the things looked so good that I wanted them. I also had the dreaded munchies where I just wanted to eat. So mix the bad in with the good, I did overeat, but not to the extent I normally would have. I kept within my points (in fact I still have 30 weekly points). Could be better but it used to be a LOT worse!

1 am
Smart ones ziti and meatballs (10)
2 servings ketchup potato chips (9)
orange
strawberries

8am
pomegrante
1 c oatmeal with banana 4
sausage 6
1 serving ketchup potato chips 4

3pm
pizza 8
red velvet cookies 5

Snacks:
3 chocolate covered cherries 5
2 servings ketchup potato chips 9
cherry cordial cookie 5
4 servings buffalo style stuffed celery 4

I used all my daily allowance, 1 activity point and 26 of my weekly points. It's a lot used but in the past I have been way worse so in the end, I am happy about this.

Roxanne

smashlers 02-04-2013 06:57 AM

Good morning everyone!

Yesterday's menu:
Breakfast: omelette with cheese and potatoes 16pts

Pm snack: some blueberry diet cake a coworker made 3pts?
A bite or two of some vegetarian chili 1pt
Pop chips, 4pts

Dinner: chicken bake with ff mushroom soup. 12pts!
(I don't know how that happened with the chicken.. Seems like a lot to me. I had to have the talk with my BF about cooking with oil and that he needs to chill if be wants me to be able to eat it.)
Spaghetti squash, 0pts
Spinach salad 2pts

Pop chips, 1 pts
Pop corn, 3 pts
Cookie 3pts

45 total: over for the day!!

(Ugh I am sucking at this right now) working out everyday does not give me e option to eat whatever I want.

straightahead 02-04-2013 07:32 AM

welcome, mom2!

luvcats...hope red lobster was good.

Roxanne and smashlers...nice job tracking! In the past, I had a tendency to not even try tracking at parties, and that is really bad.

Today is Monday....a long day at work (8:30-7)....and I didn't get enough sleep. Gotta stay in control with the eating today!

breakfast: greek yogurt with granola and berries (7)
banana (0)

UGH MONDAY
-------------

LuvCats - Spinning is a type of stationary bicycle class. Very challenging. I typically burn 800-1000 calories according to my HRM. I love it. No cheddar bay biscuits for me! If I eat one - I eat 20. LOL

fitbyforty - Glad to have you here!

chickadeee55 - Congrats on you WI! I typically eat every 2-3 hours.

BrettnLaurynsmommi - Welcome!

myfavisblue - Welcome back! I am the queen of plateauing. Ugh. My body will not lose this last 45-50lbs for the life of me.

roxannestags - Idk - you might have lost me with ketchup chips. WOOHOO to tracking!

straightahead - Another spinner! YAY!

mom2threebratz - Welcome!

smashlers - At least you are tracking!!!

---------

Talk about a frustrating Saturday weigh in. A .2 GAIN?!?! Seriously?! The day before I took a peak and was down for the week! I was POP Friday night, too. My God - so frustrating. Because of that I'm going to track daily now to see the trends of my body. I know it's a dangerous game for me because I can get a little crazy, but I think it'll be best for my sanity. Especially since I burst into tears when I saw my gain on Saturday after being POP all week.

I'm starting to wonder if I just can't use my flex points. I know using them for some people works and using for others doesn't work. The past two weeks I've used my flex points and had .2 gains. The first week I didn't use them and lost 6.6. I try to keep telling myself despite the .4 gain I've still lost 6.2 pounds in 3 weeks - but still. :(

I didn't drink this weekend for the most part. A couple of mich ultras last night at the Super Bowl party. I ate too many tortilla chips, but I brought a shrimp cocktail and fruit salad so I could fill up on that. I ate off of my flex points and still have 9 for the week - which I never use during the week, so I'm not worried in that sense. I know my gain today is all sodium.

Alright - enough of my one woman pity party.

On a side note, WW Meetings start at work today and I'm going today and then my Dad and I will go on Saturdays too. I also got my Actilink over the weekend and I wear it for 8 days so it can gather my baseline of activity.

Breakfast
Coffee w/ FF 1/2 & 1/2 - 1pt
Breakfast Burrito - 8pts

Snack
Apple - 0pts
Smoked String Cheese - 1pt

Lunch
Lasagna - 10pts

Snack
Celery - 0pts
WW Cheese Wedge - 1pt

Dinner
5oz chicken breast - 5pts
1c. Brown Rice - 5pts
Brussel Sprouts - 0pts
1tbsp light butter - 1pt

Total: 32
Remaining: 2

gooch100 02-04-2013 08:29 AM

SoMuchFattitude-6.2 in 3 weeks? That is great!! Don't get discouraged. Don't they say that a loss of 1-2 pounds a week is ideal? If so, you are right on track!

I am thinking I can't eat my flex points either. I have found that the weeks that I dip more that single digits into them that I have bit of a gain or at least no loss.

I will be joining you in the water gain today. Between TOM and the fact that I ate my flex points all in pita chips last night, I know I am in trouble. I am totally a sodiumville resident today. Bring on the bloat boat.

Something interesting happened yesterday. I had been avoiding pasta until now since I love it and have trouble staying within the serving size. We had family over for dinner and made these delish turkey and pork meatballs served over WW pasta. Good and filling at the time BUT later that night I was a total carb craving fool. Thus the eating all my flex points in pita chips. I am thinking the pasta was a trigger since that hasn't happend before. Soooo, no more pasta for me at least for a while. I will stick to brown rice, which doesn't seem to have the same effect. I don't think I would have put that together if I hadn't been tracking my food for WW.

April1286 02-04-2013 08:32 AM

Last week was my 2nd week and I did not lose any weight!!! not even an ounce. Then again, I did not gain either. UGH! It is so frustrating.

lsrlosing 02-04-2013 09:32 AM

Good morning everyone! It's Monday... Someone please remind again how grateful I should be to have a job (Bleh) :/ lol

Superbowl party was super hard! I did good though.. Only ate a bbq chicken breast and some chili. Trust me, I wanted soooooo much more than that.

Hope you all have a good day!

MagicEyez 02-04-2013 09:57 AM

Good Morning you guys ... February already?!? Wow!!!! I remember when I was 10 I wished and wished the time would fly by ... Now, I'm begging for it to slow down!! lol ...

I hope everyone has an awesome Monday! Things are about the same this direction ... I managed to do my JM 30 Day Shred M-F last week, but didn't do it this weekend ... I'll get back on it today. (cant you hear the excitement in my voice!! *blah!!* ~ lol.) I'm really wanting to give this intensity a try, but I dont know?!?) I found someone selling it in our area on CL for 60.00 - Might ask 'em if they will take 50 for it and call it a day?! I'm just worried about all the jumpin ... Heck, I'm liable to cave the floor in!!! (or knock myself out even with a normal bra and 2 sports bra's AND an XS cami (super tight - i typically wear a L) just to try to hold everything down!! lol)

amandabanana 02-04-2013 11:19 AM

I know what you mean, it seems that the older I get, the faster time seems to go by. I can't believe it's February already. In two months I'll be celebrating my one year wedding anniversary! Can't believe it!

I've been on WW for a little over a week and I'm really excited about the results so far. I've lost 7 pounds and I feel great so far. One thing that I love is that I don't feel deprived at all.

gooch100 02-04-2013 12:46 PM

I have a quick question for you all about homemade jams.

DH and I are turning into big canners since we like to know what is in the food we are eating. Jam is a fav and we can up several different types each year. (strawberry vanilla and strawberry chipotle were two good ones from this past summer.)

I am now not sure how to figure the points. We use regular sugar not splenda and we disn't use pectin. Is 1T=1pt like for store bought?

Gooch: I am not sure but I would count it like regular jam if it was me. Can I have the recipe for strawberry vanilla? I made orange whiskey marmalade and candy apple jam and we are almost out. It's just about time to make some more and the youngest is begging for strawberry jam.

So today was my official weigh in day. Yesterday when I unofficially stepped on the scale it was reading 283. Today it's 284. Either way, it's a loss! I am down a total of 2 points since start but its a 4 point loss because of the 2 extra points I gained the first week. It's nice to show a loss

I went over points yesterday because I ate dinner. I am usually sleeping so don't eat dinner most of the times. I made the enchilada cupcakes from Emily Bites website and man were they good. I was even able to adapt them for my vegetarian son (although he thought they were too spicy). Good stuff.

Let's see for today:
3am
3 enchilada cupcakes: 11
orange 0
banana 0

Lunch:
3 Buffalo chicken cupcakes 11
4 Stuffed celery 2
Artichoke
apple
orange

Dinner
3 Meatloaf cupcakes 11
mashed potatoes 6
whatever veggies we have on hand

That brings my total up to 42 which is my daily points.

Well, I am starting my 3rd week on WW and I love the plan, but my goal this week was to use the treadmill (for more than a clothes rack) every other day. That hasn't happened so far. What is wrong with me, why can't I just get on there and walk for a lousy 30 minutes right after work, I need a major push by the exercise genie!!!!!!
Yesterday, I stayed on plan, even though I was really like hungry but not, and I only snacked good things, thank goodness I packed them in my lunch bag.
Someone send me some "get off my butt and get on the treadmill" vibes!!

The past couple of weeks have been a struggle and my weight has SKYROCKETED as a result....like 8 pounds in a week skyrocketing. But starting yesterday, I planned on being totally on plan and not have any sweets....at least for the week so that I can get myself back into the groove. I live with my parents, and they are away for a couple days, so it's nice to have the house to myself so that I can prepare my own food and only have certain things in the house. My plan for today:

BREAKFAST:
Dannon Light n Fit Yogurt - 2 points
Blueberries - 0 points
Cinnamon Jacks cereal (1 cup) - 3 points

LUNCH:
Fiber One Wrap - 2 points
Deli Turkey (4 slices) - 2 points
Carrots - 0 points
Sugar Free Jello - 0 points
Orange - 0 points

DINNER:
Boneless Chicken Breast - 3 points
Barbecue Sauce - 2 points
Carrots - 0 points
Something else....not sure yet!

SNACKS:
Apple - 0 points
Fiber One Protein Bar - 3 points
