Hey there... I think I have blown off the steam of not having a loss last week. And I am trying, like we talked about in the meeting last week, to focus on eating more power foods. And those power foods are NO JOKE. I am satisfied and filled, and don't feel regretful or gluttonous. They really satiate. Gooch still feeling like a bottomless pit? Try a whole mess of power foods! :)

Breakfast:
Egg and facon, 3pts

AM Snack:
Kashi bar, 5pts
String cheese, 2 pts

Lunch:
Creamed Spinach, 5pts
Baby carrot, 0pts
1 cup spaghetti squash, 0pt
1/4 Dang sugar cookie sitting on the table at work, 1pt

PM Snack:
Breakfast to go pack, 5pts

Dinner:
4 oz Cod, 2pts
1/2 peas, 1pt
Mixed real mashed potatoes with butter, 2pts
with Mashed cauliflower, 0pts
(All but the butter=Power Foods)

I have 17 pts left over. I am going out with my girlfriends tonight and I am gonna drink a martini or two!

Was reading about your experience at spin, somuchfattitude....good for you, standing up for yourself and anyone else vulnerable to being in that same position (especially those who have not developed the confidence in their abilities that you have)....for a long time, I feared something like that happening to me when I went to classes. Pure ignorance on the part of the instructor.

Mandykins 02-23-2013 09:39 PM

Hi! This is my first time posting here but I figured I'd jump in since I've been reading the thread for a couple of days.

Breakfast:
4 Turkey Sausage pancake mini muffins - 3pts

Lunch:
6 piece Chicken Mcnuggets - 8pts
Small French Fries - 6pts
Ranch - 3pts (had a left over ranch from Chick-Fil-A)
Apple - 0pts

PM Snack:
Fiber One Chocolate Cereal - 2pts

Dinner:
Homemade Club Sandwich - 9pts
Pineapple - 0pts
Just for One Broccoli & Cheese - 1pt

Planned 32/39pts

Not sure what I'm going to use the other 7 for yet. My weigh in day is tomorrow and I still have all my weekly points and 33 activity points from this week that have been untouched.

Smashlers: What are power foods?

Mandykins: Welcome

Somuchfattitude: How was the cake decorating class? I have always wanted to take one

I went a little over points yesterday. I had a slice of pizza in the morning, which would have been ok, but then we went out to subway for lunch. Frankly, we were working hard yesterday and I was starving so I had a foot long cold cut. Then to top it off, dh brought in some donuts and I got a huge sweet craving so I had one. I figured out that I had not eaten any fruit in the last two days and I think that is what caused the sweet craving. Since starting WW my sweet cravings have all but disappeared and I think it's because of all the fruit.

At any rate, despite eating so many high fat foods today, I still have weekly points left. We worked HARD yesterday, I made my goal for activelink and tomorrow, I think we are going to go on a hike/picnic. Looking forward to it actually.

Hey everybody! I haven't been here in a few days. Hope everybody is doing well.

Good news is, I was down 4.6 pounds at yesterday's weigh in. Bad news is, my weight loss was partly the result of the Stomach Virus Weight Loss Plan that my whole family decided to try out this week. Yuck, glad that's over!

But I am glad to still be losing and hope to increase the exercise this week. Like Smashlers, I will also be increasing my use of Power Foods. (roxanestaggs, those are the foods in the points book with the little green triangle next to them. They are super healthy and satisfying.) I generally eat pretty clean but will try to do even better in the coming weeks.

For the second week in a row my daily point ration has decreased. I am trying to stay away from using my weekly points so I see it's going to start getting more challenging.

straightahead 02-24-2013 09:50 AM

forkeeps - that stomach virus plan sounds HORRIBLE. Glad you are feeling better and ready to exercise.

roxanne - a hike and a picnic sounds so nice...I cannot wait for spring

mandy- welcome, and good luck on the weigh-in

I just weighed in - lost 1.6 lbs, which I am happy with. I had an awesome, full-body workout day yesterday - a boot camp style class followed by zumba. My eating was good too.

I find that reading books about nutrition/the food industry help my motivation to make better food choices. Now, I am reading "Eat to Live" as motivation to make healthy choices. I just finished "Eating Animals," which has influenced me to cut back significantly on animal products (if not dapple into vegetarianism). A book I have read in the past was "The End of Overeating" and I think I might read that one again because I found that one helpful. I think I want to find a healthy lifestyle magazine to subscribe to - I feel like the more I fill my life with healthy stimuli, the more I can stick to the plan. I don't see Shape and Fitness magazines as especially healthy (because it seems like they are geared toward already skinny people obsessing on how to make their their butts or guts look good, for example)...I guess maybe Weight Watchers mag would be a good choice...anyone like any others?

smashlers 02-24-2013 10:10 AM

Roxannestags Here is a link to the pdf of powerfoods. They are all , like forkeeps said, healthyier whole choices that are high in vitamins and WW says they tend to keep you fuller longer so you don't want the junk. And its true. http://www.weightwatchers.com/images.../Food_List.pdf

:welcome2: Mandikins Sounds like you are doing a great job. How long have you been doing WW?

Straightahead When you find that book, let us know. I love a good book. I am reading *still* (I need to finish it, like today) "The Amazing Adventures of Diet Girl". It's funny and sweet and a good story. I am also reading lots of diet blogs. TudorRose an avid 3fc contributor in the WW section (What up to Tudor Rose if she is reading!!) has a great blog here. She rocks.

That makes me think: If all you ladies know of any great, healthy, funny yet smart, weightloss blogs... Please share them. I would love to read 'em!

I went out and had 3 beers and feel like I could drink a lake this morning. We went out to a comedy show last night. It was HILARIOUS. I love comedy. Now I am sitting in bed with 2 dogs and 2 cats drinking coffee. And get this: The front door is open. It is a BEAUTIFUL morning! I may skip the treadmill this morning and take my dogs for a trail walk. It depends on how quickly I can get my (slightly hung over) bootie out of bed! Enjoy your Sunday ladies!

OMG YES. Although I still want more when it comes to weight watchers mags.

And we're not going to the local bowling alley restaurant anymore. We're going to outback which has nutritional facts. Although I can't sleep now. But I didn't plan eating before the restaurant. So not good?

Hi everyone! I don't think I've posted since before my weigh in on Wednesday. I lost 4.8 pounds for my first week! I was very happy with that considering how many weekly points I used.
Thanks for all of the kind words about my wedding dress :)

I'm feeling really good this week. I decided to throw my staple breakfast out the window. I'd rather spend the points on real food...I've never been a fan of breakfast food. So on Friday I made BBQ bean pot and have been having tacos with it for breakfast (8 points). Today is day five, and in the first four days I've only used 8 weekly points. I also have officially been earning Activity Points! I've been playing the kinect with my kids. It's been great family time and great exercise for all of us. We have the Adventures game, and two of the Just Dance games. I'm also going to get Zumba this week. I'm having a lot of fun.

I finally figured out how to satisfy my candy craving without it turning into a huge binge. 2 pieces of starbust = 1 point. I've been letting myself have 2-4 pieces each night. And I've actually been cutting each square into four pieces so it feels like more. Part of me feels ashamed that I have to play that mind game with myself. How did I become such a food addict? But the other part of me says, who cares? I'm bettering my life in a healthy way.

smashlers - good to know about the power foods. I might have to try that. My leader and the leader that is in training at my meeting both do Simply Feeling instead of points. It just scares me at this point lol.

mandy - I'm new, too! I did do this a couple of years ago, but recently restarted and joined in here! Welcome!

roxanne - a hike and picnic sound like a ton of fun!

forkeeps - congrats on your loss!!

straightahead - so Eating Animals changed my life. I started looking into vegetarianism...I dabbled in veganism...and for about three months I went back and forth. I read any books I could find on the subject and watched so many documentaries. Eating Animals is what made me make the switch for good on July 18, 2011. It just so happened that I read the section on fish the morning after having sushi for dinner...fish was the last animal I ate. It has been so incredibly easy, I haven't even had the desire for it. If you have any questions or anything, please let me know. I've very passionate about it...but I'll stop here because I'm not one to preach. Just wanted you to know that I'm here for you if you are interested :)

I restarted this time on January 13. I lost 1.2 this week so I am right at 12lbs even since starting :)

Thanks! I might take you up on that! Right now, I am still finishing a few packages of chicken I had already bought (no use in throwing it out)....but am not planning on buying any more meat once it is gone..... and I still have some cow dairy here, but am going to try soy. I have meatless dishes planned this week like fire roasted tomato tofu with broccoli, and tropical quinoa salad. I am not really an easily swayed person, but the book really did not leave much incentive to eat meat (whether the value is health, animal rights, or both). So I guess I am in the first stages of going vegetarian.

Thanks! Reading weight loss blogs is a great idea, and I will check out the "Diet Girl" book too

Today we went to Outback. I had about 9 strips of a blooming onion. It says that is 54 points. I can't believe those 9 strips can be 54 points. So I put into my tracker that it was 1/4 a serving. 36 weekly points left. Yay. My mom said that my brother and her was talking about how I looked thinner from behind (but I think it was the nice, new shirt I was wearing).

smashlers 02-25-2013 07:08 AM

Uhhh Ohhh, guys. I am starting to suck at WW. For those of you who have been on WW for a longer amount of time, I have a question. How do you stick to it? Do you generally eat the same meals every day? I think I need to work on not eating such a big dinner, and try to eat larger breakfasts and lunches? It can't be good that I get in *maybe* 15 pts during the day, and slam like 30 at night. Everynight.

Crap. I need a coach.

straightahead 02-25-2013 08:07 AM

I have a similar problem, smashlers! I will eat a 6-7 pt breakfast, 6 pt lunch, 3 points of snacks....and then I have 13-14 points left for dinner. That doesn't sound too bad, but I will often be starving by the time i have dinner at 10pm (i work til 8 sometimes and then hit the gym) and end up eating 15-16 pt dinners when I am soon going to bed. My goal is to work on that...I probably need to split dinner up into a small one at work and then a post workout snack.

Change it up occasionally! When I lost 80 pounds a few years ago with Weight Watchers, I ate the same thing every day. I got bored with it and finally snapped and gave up. So change it up occasionally. I sometimes cook a big meal and eat the leftovers the rest of the week. The next week I'll cook a different meal
