 Yes about the kickboxing thing
Anyways, I've found a circuit that looks pretty  I stole it from Skwigg and she stole it from Turbulence Training. Bodyweight Squat - 10-20 reps Pushup - 10-20 reps Reverse Lunge - 10 per leg Plank - hold for 30 secs Close grip push-up - 10-20 reps Side plank - 20secs per side Mountain climber 10 reps per side rest for 1 min, then repeat twice :) It looks fun but I'm not sure it would be particularly tiring. I don't know, I haven't tried it but I WILL when I get full knee and toe mobility going again! Anyway, the TT guy was like, "yeah lose fat in 7 minutes with this circuit" sounds suspiciously like 8 minutes in the morning, but there you have it! Could be cool with my little peeps if I can master it ok! :) |
Hi all, just went out to help the kiddies sled down the hill in our back yard. Unfortunately, it was still sleeting so that was not comfortable. The snow is not good for sledding either. I thought the ice over snow would be good, but ya know what, you kind of punch thru the top layer and then get s-t-u-c-k. I even managed to twist my ankle to the point where it hurt and said that was enough, we're going in. Oh, and the dog/large boxer puppy that was running circles around us from a few houses down didn't help. DD2 has had several bad experiences with being "pounced" on by "he wouldn't hurt a thing, he's friendly" dogs in "safe" places (soccer field & bus stop) so now she is terrified. I call her the dog maget, bc wherever we go, there is always a loose dog running about to terrify her. Idiot neighbors.

Good morning and HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!! to all.
I did shovel cardio this AM. It wasn't too bad but I was the only person on my block with an actual shovel. Everyone else had snowblowers. I think I'm still too young for one of those so I'll just keep scooping and tossing. Speaking of scooping, DD scooped the litter box and dumped it all in the commode and stopped it up. I just shut the lid, and went to work. I'll deal with that when I get home. yeah Fru, please don't send anybody to the hospital, we don't know if they will take our US dollars to bail you out of jail! Tiki |
tiki- I held out on the snowblower until about 3 years ago when we had our last REAL winter. It seemed to snow 8" every 4 days and I was so sick of shoveling. DH still wanted to shovel (ha! he was usually traveling!) and also thought it was great exercise for ds. Mostly it was an exercise in yelling. At the end of that winter I informed him I was moving out if we didn't have a snowblower for the next winter. He must have believed me, because in September, as soon as they hit the stores, he went out a bought a humungous snow blower. It didn't significantly snow again for two years.
Fru- Depalma's right. Either just go do deads correctly near the guy or let it be. Even wearing my official trainer uniform and NOT selling anything, I learned the hard way not to try to help anyone with their form unless I either knew them well, they were an obvious, nervous newbie which usually meant female, or were previously a client of mine who had forgotten. In my early days I once tried to help a guy who looked like he was about to kill himself squatting far too much weight and leaning way forward. His response was to try to punch me, and I was rescued by the guys working at squat racks on either side. Apparently, he was a well known wacko, at least to everyone but me. FRU- Can you get Oxygen Magazine over there? This month's issue has some body weight circuits designed by Jen Henderschott (fitness competitor) which I've been using. They are fun, fast, and difficult. Not a replacement for heavy weights, but a great addition. Nelie- That's so funny about the basements! The first house I remember as a kid had a real cellar. The house was built with a huge tree in the center of the dirt cellar and the 10 foot stump was used as a support. I guess it was kind of creepy and I don't know what happened as that stump began to decay , but it was a great place for hide and seek! I had two clients brave the non-plowed roads this morning. Even in 4 wheel drive, it was hazardous. I'm still trying to find my 4:30 client to get her to cancel. I'm not sure I can make it back OUT of my driveway. I came home at noon and was compelled to make a big pot of chicken soup in the pressure cooker. Shoulders and cardio done! Oh, for those of you who saw the link I posted to Skwiggs blog, take her food advice with a grain of salt. She is a self-proclaimed "fidgeter ectomorph" and MAINTAINS on 3000 calories. Most of us here would'nt get away with that! She's very entertaining and has been blogging for years, originally started with BFL years ago. There is a lot of good information there, but personally I wouldn't consider oreos and tuna a good protein/carb choice. Mel |

It's kind of nice - in a perverse sort of way - to watch the rest of you dealing with snow while we have clear skies here! It is only 20F, but that's quite manageable. My DH has taken up ice skating for an hour or so every other day, and yesterday he got wiped out by a rugrat skater (of the age that has no concept he should watch out for/get out of the way of anyone else). Fortunately in falling he only hurt his pride! I told him he was safer at the gym. The skating, however, is great for core muscles and balance. |
Mel, there's a pic of her also eating a cookie while drinking a protein shake. So it must not be too far from her regular menu! lol

Happy V-Day Ladies! :val1:
I'm with you Tiki - I only have a shovel as well! I've been out there once today, and am trying to decide whether to get out there again now, while it's still daylight, or wait until after it stops - supposedly around 7pm. We've already gotten 12", and they are saying 12" more. Luckily it's easy shoveling, but my neighbors are all blowing it sky high! I'm making roasted chickpeas again for the first time in a while - I'll share the recipe if they turn out ok - I always tend to over or under bake them! Cindy |
Cindy- Are you in the snowbelt of Lake Ontario? Did you get hit last week by that 8 Foot storm that hit Oswego to Syracuse??? I'd have the world's largest snowblower if I lived in Buffalo or at the eastern end of the lake!
Even my own private John Deere with a plow blade :lol3: |

I appreciate you posting this circuit. Beth |
Mel, no, thank goodness, I'm not there. I'm in Albany - this is actually our first snow of the season, so I can't really complain. I got in shovel cardio twice today, including the end of the driveway 3 times - the :censored: plow came through right after I got it cleared the second time, and I had to do it all over again! :tantrum:
Off to bed early for me - I'm zonked! Cindy |
Happy Valentines Day LWL:val3:
It's been a busy couple of days as I knew it would be. I shoveled this driveway twice yesterday before the ice hit. I think I have another two to three inches in the driveway but it has been covered in ice so it's not going anywhere. Oh, and I DO have the granddaddy of snowblowers in the garage. DH purchased it the first week we moved into our home seven years ago. Boys and their toys right? Here's the thing, he never took it in for maintenance. Ever. It hasn't worked in three years. Guess what, the :censored: thing is going in next fall. :s: Needless to say, I'm also the one who makes sure the cars get the scheduled oil changes. Dad taught his daughters well. Ah well, DH has other attributes. DH's flight from NY has been cancelled twice yesterday. As of this evening his third flight is still scheduled. :crossed: He's in good humor though. He's enjoying a nice meal at an Italian restaurant near his hotel in Times Square. I reminded him that he needs to enjoy his time away to the fullest because this weekend, he is Dad on Duty. I have a slumber party with my girlfriends scheduled on Saturday night. Can't wait. After this week I'm entitled to a glass of whine. If the roads look good I'm also hoping I can get to the gym for my workout Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I'm in NEED here. I'm really looking forward to spring. These one workouts a week are driving me crazy. I haven't been out of the house since Monday. :tantrum: Okay, Breathe, just breathe....:dizzy: Night all:wave: |
Hang in there Lydia. Tomorrow should be sunny and maybe a chance to break out! I'm still waiting on the school report. Early release yesterday, none today, our neighborhood is under an inch or two of ice and still no news about tomorrow. All the districts around us have already canceled, but ours seems to take joy in making us get up at 5:30 to check status for the day. Geez, it's not like conditions are going to improve overnite with all this wind!!

I think Skwigg's eating has improved - she's using Precision Nutrition by John Berardi now. Which advocates veggies at every meal (even breakfast) and starchy carbs only after workouts. I tried, I couldn't stick it. Big fat failure over here  I even spent money and got the big old package, I did get a couple of recipes from it though. Well I'm feeling a bit down in the dumps. I don't know whether it's the scale that's affected my mood (the same same same but up from the weekend) or whether I'm a bit worried about my knee. Yesterday we walked to the cinema - about a mile and it was REALLY hurting last night even with a knee support on. :dizzy: However it's fine again this morning and it really is ONLY walking that hurts it - I can squat and things fine but I haven't tried the bike! Mel - I'll have a lookout for Oxygen over here, there are some places that sell overseas mags, so I might be able to grab a copy. Apart from the knee and the scales, everything's ok. Oh I did indulge a little in V-day choccie last night, shared a bar with DH and had a small bar to myself. :o Oh yeah and my toe has now got a huge stupid internal-bleedingy type bruise on it :( It reminds me a lot of the bruise I got when I broke my little toe. But I don't think I've broken my big toe :dunno: I think I wrenched it or did something to the joint perhaps :dunno: I'm just falling to bits - someone take me to the tip |

Aww sweet! Thank you! I'll look forward to my new life amongst discarded cardboard, broken TVs and hosepipe reels :)
