Ugh, I finally succombed to the stomach crud that has swept through the schools and gym. I managed to train and do a shaky leg workout, but I don't feel very well :p Hopefully, this will be over quickly...nothing usually bothers my stomach. I'm thinking that's why I couldn't sleep Saturday night and was so groggy yesterday.

Tiki, that sounds like the worst experience ever. Pardon my lily white naivete. but do you run into comments like that often? I find it horrifying that ANYONE would say that to your, your girls, or think it. I hope your girls did really well  And  to your daughter! If it weren't so time consuming, I'd make a HUGE stink about the whole situation to the hotel, the manager, the owner, the chain owner if it's a chain and at least get some free nights somewhere. A rusty screw in a pool is a hazard, obviously.

Nelie- my favorite morning meal is a pumpkin-oatmeal-eggwhite-flaxseed pancake. I luv my pumpkin

Fru- How do you eat Indian or Thai?

Lydia- I think the snow is supposed to hit us simultaneously for a change. The groceries are a panic here as people stock up for endless French Toast. Enjoy your Kodak moments with the boys- I'll be floundering around in my 4 wheel drive trying to get to the gym so clients can cancel after I've gotten there :dizzy:

I think I straightened out ds's school mess for the moment. He's missed a lot because he was so sick before we figured out the Celiac's disease problem, then once or twice when he accidently "got glutened". I talked to the assistant principal today and explained it all. A certain number of absences triggers automatic notices, and if a parent doesn't respond in a panic (like I did) they assume truancy. Still a PITA, because now I have to get a doctor's note and have it on file with the school.

I'm soooo ready for spring. I don't WANT SNOW! (Mel throwing small tantrum.)

Mel

Just have to delurk from Virusville to say: Tiki, that sounds BAD BAD BAD. I am very angry. How can people behave so badly? Give your DD a hug from us over here. And have one yourself:

Dear, dear, dear. :(

Oh, and good to see you, BTW. [can't find that waving thing]

I'll be back later. It's been about a month now and I think I'm finally getting better. L-glutamine didn't protect me, I'm afraid. And exercise has gone out of the window. And the food has been, well, poor. I'll just have to start again. Stuff happens.

Hullo to everyone else. I've been reading your posts - good going!

tikanique 02-12-2007 03:26 PM

Lydia, considering how little snow we've had this year, the snow plow guys are hurting for money. You could probably slip him just a $20.

Mel, I can't believe you are throwing a tantrum! :tantrum: For shame, young lady, for shame. Save the tantrum for when the clients don't show. I make all of Ayja's gym appointments, snow or not cause I've paid for them and I don't want to tick off her coach. Sad that others aren't as considerate or worried that the trainer might get even  . And no, we've never had an experience like that before. Cheerleaders are supposed to be HAPPY. As for the resort, I've already penned my 3 page letter complaining about the screw and plate in the pool, the sorry manager and the sorry waterpark director.

Hey backatcha Silver. Glad you came out of lurkdom and hope you stick around to post some more.

DD's foot is doing fine. Once the skin dries up a little I'll have to cut the loose parts so it doesn't catch and pull on her sock, but she should be fine. The ugly comments worked against our girls in that after the first round when they saw their scores, the newer girls believed that they did poorly due to racism, not because they forgot to hit their stunts and spots properly. No amount of talking to them or even showing them the tape would change their mind so they went out and made the same mistakes. Now the veteran girls want the new girls off the team. Oh the drama, the drama! :queen:

I know you just can't wait for team sports, huh Lydia?
Tiki

Nah Tiki, remember, he's the only show in town according to Mel. He's looking for the $50.

 Nah, last summer I was there during the Ohio State Fair and I know there's more that one John Deere in town. We went to the tractor pull and laughed our sophisticated eastern asses off. DD's bf from Worthington was not amused. Remind me to tell you the story of the Thanksgiving turkeys some time. Gotta go now....

Did I post at 2:15? I do sleep rotten PMSly ... which apparently has been my problem this weekend :( didn't see that coming ... again. Aw maybe it won't take much longer.

No inclination to nap today. I feel good! I'm hunting for something to watch on TV and I'll do arms.

tikanique 02-12-2007 04:18 PM

They still HAVE Tractor pulls?????

sportmom 02-12-2007 04:33 PM

Lydia, fear not the organized sports - well, except for the dads who tackle each other and throw punches at the football games...

OK, maybe it depends on the sports..... but remember, the Texas Cheerleader Mom, murder fiasco? I think cheerleading can sometimes attract um, moms, who are still in h.s. mentally and cause all the problems. Not Tiki, of course, I'm referring to the moms who probably throw the racial slurs making their daugthers think it is ok to do the same things. You do see parents in all the sports I think who think this is a reflection on them and ride the kids too hard to excel, which of course we know what that does to the kids. Me, I just try to take a chill pill and remember who I'm there for and that it's not ALL ABOUT ME! But it never fails, each weekend I am convinced that I may be in the minority. All the talk about pushing for scholarships swirls around you, and I keep thinking the bills for mental therapy will offset any free tuition!!!

What do you mean still??? We have them at the state fair (which is held in the town where I live), and we also have lumberjack shows, and pig races, and other such rural stuff! You've been in the big city too long Tiki! :)

Glad your DD is doing okay, and good for you writing to all and sundry to complain about the nail and the treatment you got.

Gads, I happened on an episode of Trading Spouses the other day (remind me never to stop there again!) where the dad was on his girls all the time about their soccer, and not positively either. The visiting mom called him on it, and when he tried not criticizing and instead giving positive feedback, it worked. Duh! So glad I do not have kids in sports.

Silver - nice to see you. How's things in Wales?

Mel - sorry about your stomach. DH has been having some of the same, but it's about over I think.

I've been having some senior moments here. The vet's office called to say I'd paid their bill twice, and I wrote down my dentist appt on the right day - but wrong month. Fortunately, they called the day before.

sportmom 02-12-2007 10:55 PM

I can't watch that show either Pat, or Nanny 911. Just too upsetting to insert myself into that mix that is so opposite the way I like to run things at home -- low stress and no drama allowed here! It makes me actually anxious and on edge to watch it.

2frustrated 02-13-2007 04:21 AM

I had to google tractor pull. I'm dissapointed - I thought it would be strong men pulling a tractor but no, just tractors pulling, STUFF! Now I would PAY to see men pulling a tractor, or to have a go at pulling a tractor myself - Frus's alternate tractor pull!

Mel - I don't like Indian or Thai really, but DH loves them and BBQ's them regularly ;) Hope you're feeling better soon

I'm planning a gym visit today - my knee is feeling slightly better so I think I will just do ubw. I'm surprised I managed to hurt it at all, and I'm surprised it's taking so long to go away, usually it just grumbles for a day or so. I think I actually hurt it while avoiding a :censored: DOG on the RACE PATH :tantrum: But anyway, must keep it happy since I have an external kickboxing tournament next weekend :D :hyper: :crossed: It's my first biggie and my first non-club tournament and I want a BELT dammit! I don't think it's that kind of tournament, but I can hope!

srmb60 02-13-2007 06:51 AM

Morning! I saw a glimpse of someone making curry on TV yesterday. I might try that. We do like spicy.

4rabbit 02-13-2007 09:04 AM

Hi LWL,

Wow,thereis alot to respond to!

Tiki, Frus - what is this about not the tractor-pull? This is a regular event in THIS neighbourhood! AND we have lots of games from the young farmers assocoation, and the old farmers association on the themes of who plows the straightest farrow with modern or antique equipment...farming community here! And next sunday, the carnival parade will again assemble in the street on my front door, and one half of the village will go and look at the other half...(we are 1500 souls in my village). AND this will be repeated in all the other villages in the region!

Pat, Hrbabe - I actually love nanny911. makes me think at least some things I do OK.

Mel - I hear you on ill. DS is down again. very ill, 39.5 C, next year I'll let him have a flu-shot as well. DD and I got one, but I thought a boy of 14 would not need it...wrong.

Still "loose pants" today. I got all of us a treat for valentines day tomorrow, just to celebrate that we are doing OK here.

Have a great day all,
Rabbit

tikanique 02-13-2007 09:43 AM

Fru you are bananas! :cb: People pulling tractors? Hilarious. What's next, people pulling Army tanks? Take good care of that knee. It's too bad that you hurt it trying to avoid nailing Man's Best Friend. Did you ice it?

HRbabe, I've never seen Nanny 911. I have too many 911 moments of my own going on around the house to be entertained by someone elses. :fr:

So SuB, did you sleep last night? :faint: I hope your curry recipe turns out great. I can't stand curry myself. I TRIED to force myself to like it but nope, it didn't take.

Rabbit, good job on the loose pants. Too bad about your son. My DD attends a school that has 2500 students so flu shots are very necessary, but unfortunately, he didn't get his this year and BAM :p he was down for the count.

My DD had to leave school early yesterday due to tummy trouble so I didn't get to the gym. However, she got to feeling better around 8Pmish so we tried out our new Dance Factory PS2 game and mats and we danced around til almost midnight! It was so COOL!!! We have only a little difficulty on EASY, the NORMAL setting was really challenging and then when we tried PRO, well I laughed so hard at the both of us I almost wet my mat! :dizzy: This game lets you use your own CDs so I have to mix a CD of music that is all upbeat that we like so we can dance straight thru instead of having to stop after each song and change discs.

Roll call chicks, Lydia, Mel, Nelie, Silver, Pat, Meg, BFLChick (please let me not have forgotten anyone) where ya at? What are you doing to stay warm and keep them muscles growing?

Tiki

2frustrated 02-13-2007 09:45 AM

No I didn't ice it, it kinda came on gradually which is bizzare, but I think that's what did it. I shouldda just kicked the dog  Anyways we managed some very light squats in the gym, it's walking that's a PITA! :( :dizzy: I will take it easy tonight and will see how it goes. I think I might have to confine myself to complete BED REST and not come to work for the rest of the week
