Where IS everyone? I feel like there's no one to update on every little mundane fitness detail of my weekend!!! :blah:
Well, no doubt, you are all out :exercise: or getting ready for the big snowstorm!!! A day without posting is like a day without :sunny:, so here we go! |
 Hello I'm here!
I did ok in my 10k despite starting off at a lick, then walking the 2nd lap then jogging the 3rd with walking intervals. I got my usual time! :D It was really badly organised though and I ended up tripping over dogs and children and other runners walking back through the finish  Eating was great on Saturday, even WITH a Chinese for dinner :D However yesterday ended up in a carb-fest :dunno: And my knee is grumbling from my run so I can't really work it off today. :( I suppose I could do the arm bike... |
Good Morning LWL :sunny:
I am going in this morning for some cardio and UBWO early. I have a lot to try to fit in today before the storm hits but the workout has to be done. With all the snow they are predicting for us tomorrow, it may be a while before I can get out again for another one. :dunno: I just hope that it's the kind of snow that packs really well. If its gotta come, let me get some snowmen out of this one! I need some kodak moments with DSs. :lol3: I better stop at the library too and pick up some DVDs and new books for the boys. (Pat, we really love our library here!) FRU: Congrats of finishing the 10k in good time even if you had to trample small innocent children to get there. :s:  Rest that knee well. I'm kind of where you are today with a complaining knee. We'll just do what we can and treat our knees with some R.I.C.E. :^: Get your shovels ready everyone. Here it comes. :p |
Good morning chickies! I'm here too!
This weekend was a writeoff for me. I worked so much on Saturday, that I spent the rest of the day just doing household catch-up after a very short arm workout. Saturday night was a bit of a carbfest as Fru puts is, :ink:, andI couldn't sleep. Does that happen to anyone else? Ugh. Sunday was spent in a daze., but back on plan food wise. Today I have a very full client schedule, and need to do cardio and legs. Woohoo! Then hassles with ds's school. Seems he's misses enough to trigger some automatic failures despite having A's and B's in the classes  These are are medical absences so I'm sure I'll get it sorted out eventually, but it sure is a PITA! Good Job on the 10K FRU! So tell us the dteails, Fran! Snow? what snow? Mel |
I tend to pass out after a carb-fest! However 86% cocoa chocolate keeps me awake :hyper:
WTH is that automatic failure thing with DS? That sucks big time! A kid can't be sick? Lydia - hope you get some Kodak moments :D |
Good morning everyone - I'm here too! Today's workout was not all that inspired, with it being Monday and all, but at least it got done!
Saturday I spent a bit of time online and found a lot of great videos of bodyweight exercises. Nothing I can do now, but I'm looking forward to adding them to my workout when I'm ready. Mel - one funny one had a "spiderman" push-up - have you ever heard of that? It was from a push-up video on YouTube by Turbulence Training. Yesterday was a good day - we made the 100-mile trek to the nearest Trader Joe's and found a new Whole Foods there as well! I really had to restrain myself from going crazy - I could have bought 4x as much as I did, as I never know how often I'll get there. I think DF and I need to plan to go every other month or so, especially now since we are both eating clean. I bought exciting things like organic condiments, ww cereals and breads, ww tortilla chips, hummus, good feta cheese, and oh, the best thing I found was preserved lemons! Now I can make Moroccan chicken! I am SO excited about that! The trip ended up killing the whole day, but that's ok - I enjoyed it immensely! I'm with Mel - snow, what snow? Guess I'd better check out the weather channel! Have a great day everyone! Cindy |
Hi all, I'm here, back from Ohio. I forgot some of who posted what but SOMEBODY got down on some push-ups and that is AWESOME!:carrot: My shoulders develop nicely but it's my biceps that I can't get gains on. Oh well, we each have our cursed body parts.
Lydia, good luck with the snow pics. :coolsnow: And too bad about the knee. Do we to keep you in a helmet, knee and elbow pads 24 hours a day? Your workout today sounds great. I didn't do mine this AM but am shooting to get to the gym tonight to work out before we get our snow as well. Hey Fru your post had me laughing. You said "Eating was great on Saturday, even WITH a Chinese for dinner" Did you all bake, sautee or fry him up? Good job on completing the run. Organised or not, you got out there and did your thing and that's cool. When are you going to do another run? Pat, that rubber track sounds great. I love those things. The local high school has one but right now, we aren't able to go in and use it as they are remodeling some parts of the gym where it's located. Melly Mel, I totally understand that whole PITA issue with your DS's school. He's in high school right, so that's even crazier cause it could drag down his GPA and make getting into college trickier. Go give him HE**. Hey e'rebody else out there. Hope you are getting in clean food and awesome workouts. DD's cheer competiton was in Sandusky this weekend and I must say this is the most HORRIBLE trip I have ever taken. As our girls were heading onto the floor, another team that was leaving commented that they didn't like "black cheerleaders" and said we need some "beauty tips." After competing the girls went swimming. In the pool a metal support plate had fallen off some stairs and was lying under the water. My baby stepped on it and the rusty screw stuck so far into her foot, she couldn't get loose. She started screaming for help so her friend found a lifeguard. A doctor was there on vacation as well and saw what was happening. She was able to get DD's foot loose but she was stuck there for about 5 minutes with that screw and metal plate attached to her foot. Every time a kid ran by (a lot) the water would move which caused the screw and plate to shift, causing her more pain. I was chaperoning the 5-8 year olds and got there after she was out of the water. I took her to her room and then went downstairs and asked to see the plate and screw that was stuck in her foot. I was told that maintenance had immediately taken it outside and thrown it in the dumpsters. The hotel manager was a complete A**hole about it but I hung in there, demanding to see it. He said I was being unreasonable wanting to inconvenience his staff by having them look in the dumpster. I told him that my DD was more inconvienced by stepping on a screw and being stuck to the bottom of the pool so his staff getting the plate out was only fair. He finally complied, and also gave me the hotel insurance info so if her foot gets infected or she has any other complications, they will pay for her medical care. We also had other run-ins with cheerleaders and parents - one parent shoved one of our parents out of the stands as she was trying to take her seat. Two other cheerleaders ran into my DD, knocking her food and drink out of her hands and just kept going. I ran them down, told the coach and made the girls go back and apologize but there was no offer to replace my DD's food. And those were only MY bad encounters. It was like being in the twilight zone. I was never so happy to LEAVE a place like I was yesterday. Oh yeah, no workouts were done and food was bad. It wasn't carb heavy it was fat heavy but that was the weekend, today is a new day and I'm hitting the gym tonight and leaving DD in the child care center. She'll survive it!:smug: Tiki |
Hi all,
I think I found my new favorite treat! 1 cup of steel cut oats 1 15 oz can of pumpkin puree 1 tsp or so of pumpkin pie spice (or cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, etc) 4 servings of vanilla protein powder 3 1/2 to 4 cups of water dash of salt I put all that into my Rice Cooker yesterday morning and 40 minutes later, I had a pretty good "treat". So good in fact, its almost gone. I didn't have any walnuts or else I would've added a few to the mix. I kind of lost my way last week, so eating was bad and exercise wasn't too good either. I have higher hopes for this week. |
Tiki - that sounds like the weekend from He**!!! I wouldda come kicked some blonde-blue-eyed cheerleader booty for you ;) Big  for your DD and hope for her sake that the wound is fine and heals well.
Oh and we baked the Chinese guy for dinner - that's why it was a healthy day! I did spray him with a bit of Fry-Lite first though :o and you think I'm kidding.... ;) Nelie - that sounds yum, unfortunately my Waitrose has stopped stocking canned pumpkin! (Not something we have over here - it works out that we pay about $3 a can for it!!!!) Boo hiss! |
Frus - Maybe I'll bring you a suitcase of pumpkin puree if I ever make a trip there :) I think a combined England/Ireland trip will be our next trip after Costa Rica so it might be a while...
|
Gosh, Frus, if it weren't so heavy I'd ship you some pumpkin! Seriously, we have it all the time, and a large can is like $1.50.
Snow, nope, not here, but we have some COLD temperatures. It was 8 this morning. Brrrrr. I had so much stuff to bring to work that I went off without my gym bag. :( Need to go home, run in and get it - don't take off my coat, don't stop to look at the mail, etc. - and get back in the car and go to the gym. Well, it's taken me forever to type this much, so I'll close it and bbl. Have a great day! |
Hi LWL,
I'm here ! SusanB - did I really see that you posted at 2.15 am ????? Are you insomniac? no wonder that you needed a nap! Tiki - that surely sounds like a weekend in He**. BTW, did you eat girl?? I had a very quiet weekend, I was a bit down, worked too hard. it seems that I am not as stress resistant as I was before. But i did do 15 mins elliptical and my new yoga DVD yesterday, and 1 hour powerclass today, and my pants are getting looser in the waist (keep sagging down if i do not wear a belt) and, unfortunately? a bit tighter in the thighs. I have the impression that also, the scales are about 1 kg down from last month. So although i feel down, actually I am doing well. Rain here all day, and all during the weekend. Have a great day all, Rabbit |
I wouldda come kicked some blonde-blue-eyed cheerleader booty for you ;) Big  for your DD and hope for her sake that the wound is fine and heals well.
And I woulda been right beside you Fru kicking them even harder. :rollpin: OMG TIKI!: I absolutely shudder just thinking about the experience your poor DD has this weekend. In fact I was sitting here eating my lunch and just lost my appetite. :( My G-D I would have just FREAKED! What a nightmare! OMG. Yeah, it would not have been pretty had I been the parent there. A child whose foot is impailed to a nail at the bottom of a swimming pool in a hotel! No parent would have been reasonable under those circumstances. And to add insult quite literally to her injury the behavior of the staff as well as other parents and children at the competition. Where are all the decent people? These are just kids, young kids at that. This is the kind of thing that just gets my hackles up! :tantrum: I'm just so sorry everyone was so unbelievable rude. Certainly makes me think twice about how I should prepare myself for my sons' interests in organized sports. :?: CINDY: Have your checked your forecast yet? I'm tellin' ya. It's gonna SNOW!!!! Got my camera ready, snowman kit all together, lots of movies from the library and a house full of clean eats. BRING IT ON! Just make sure that it's all gone by Wednesday afternoon so that DH can fly back home from NY safely and find his way back home. :^: MEL: Maybe..., :chin: I'll slip the guy who drives the JOHN DEERE tractor with the snowblade an extra fifty so he will wait for DH at the airport. :lol3: |
