EagleRiverDee 04-27-2017 01:18 PM

Hi everyone. I lost what I had regained and am back to 152 as of today. Not sure why, since my diet hasn't exactly been stellar lately, unless my body just needed a break. I don't think I was undereating before, though.

I've been fighting a bug and have been extremely fatigued this week. I think it's viral as my lymph nodes got swollen, my joints began to hurt, and I had popping ears and a bit of a cough. I went to bed very early last night and didn't work out and I do feel better today. Not 100% but not as fatigued.

Princess- I hope you had a great vacation!

Britt- we all do it! The key is just to do what you did and get back on the program. :)

Syckgirlsfv- I hear ya. I've been in the 150's longer than any other spot and I'm ready to move on to the 140's. My mini-goal is 145, where I will officially no longer be overweight. My finish goal- right now, anyway- is 135. That's tweakable and will depend on how much muscle I am carrying at the time on whether I stop there or try to go a little lower.

Syckgirlsfv 04-30-2017 11:26 AM

so here is the weird thing! I was 160.6 Friday, and then yesterday somehow dropped to 156.8. I haven't seen 156 in a couple years. Now this morning the scale said 155.6 if you can believe that. I'll take it, but I don't know if it will stick. Strange!

Princessroja 04-30-2017 05:48 PM

Britt, EagleRiverDee, thanks for asking! I just got back this afternoon and... well, we'll see what the scale says. The last few days were a lot better than the first. Ironically my grandma served much healthier food than my aunts and uncles! The last time they saw me was five years ago when I ate basically nothing but sugar and almost no meat, so having dessert planned out for every meal was a challenge. And so.much.sodium. from eating out. It'll probably take a few days for my body to get back to normal and then we'll see how things shake out with the scale. I'm pretty sure I gained at least a pound, so I will need to make up for some lost time in May. :( Hope the 150s stick around for good this time, Britt, and that you're down into the 140s soon, EagleRiverDee!

Syckgirlsfv, welcome! Glad to have another person here in the 150s thread!

EagleRiverDee 05-05-2017 12:32 PM

Hi everyone! Sorry I've been MIA. I have been staying busy. I went biking twice this week with friends. I have a hike scheduled for tomorrow in the mountains. I've been doing cardio and yoga at home plus walking outside with my dogs and also with one of my friends. I finally (FINALLY) dropped another pound. I have been weeks at 152, weighed 151 this morning. I need to get back into the losing weight mindset, I've been eating larger portions and more fats which are high in calories. So need to make a shift because I really want to get down to 145 to start with (it's psychological- 145 would make me "officially" not overweight anymore) and then ultimately down to 135.

Syckgirlsfv- hope that weight loss stuck for you! Congrats!

Princessroja- It sounds like you did great on your vacation!

Britt- how are you doing?

Syckgirlsfv 05-05-2017 08:33 PM

157 this morning...not too shabby. I just took what has to be the mother****er of all mother****ers of tests! OHMY it was the WORST, to say the least! LOLOLOLOL I will pass it next time! I know what I need to focus on and plus I have to start studying for the next one tomorrow!

 this has been me for the last few months...not subject to change any time soon!

Princessroja 05-06-2017 09:17 AM

Syckgirlsfv yikes! Glad you're done with that test! And CONGRATS on that pound, EagleRiverDee!! That has got to be SO encouraging.

For my part, I weighed in at 152 this morning and I think it may go down a little over the course of the morning. That means either I've lost weight this week or I didn't gain even a full pound on vacation, both of which are great options. I should be at 149 on Monday to be on track. I'm obviously not going to be there, but I'd settle for 151. Maybe I can catch up over the next week or two! Gotta stay on track. :D

EagleRiverDee 05-07-2017 01:47 AM

Princessroja- congrats! Not gaining weight on a vacation is a great NSV!

Syckgirlsfv- Hope you did good on your test!

I walked my butt off today. Friends and I hiked up a local mountain, traversed up and down across the ridgeline a few miles, and dropped down another mountain and out. 4-1/2 hours of hiking. I'm going to feel that tomorrow!

Syckgirlsfv 05-07-2017 11:35 AM

thanks ladies! I won't find out until August because they changed the exam right before I took it and they have to determine how they are going to score it. I start studying for the next one tonight!

I am up a little today - 159. I had wine last night and drank a lot of fluids along with it so I figured that would happen. I will probably go on a bike ride with hubby after church so hopefully that will take care of that water weight!

Princessroja 05-08-2017 09:14 AM

You guys are killing those workouts! I'm impressed. With the week from heck now behind me hopefully I can be more active. I did work out 5 out of the last 8 days though, which hey, that's not too bad. Thankfully the cold that threatened over the weekend seems to have lightened up considerably, for which I am *very* grateful.

And... :drumroll: Scale was at 150.8 this morning. Yay!! I feel like running around and squealing after how hard the last few weeks have been. It's even a half pound below my prevacation weight!! Of course, I'll still have to lose two pounds a week for the next two weeks to get back on track, which is pretty ambitious for me, but I'm going to do my darndest!!

EagleRiverDee 05-08-2017 01:20 PM

Princessroja- Congrats! I'm close- I was at 151.0 this morning. I get a little looser with my diet on the weekends, so I was very pleased to see that I actually lost a bit of weight anyway. That hike on Saturday did indeed make me quite sore, but I did take the dogs for a walk yesterday and did a little yoga.

Syckgirlsfv- Yes, probably just water/glycogen weight. It'll drop off quick. :)

I hope everyone is having a good Monday. My hubby told me this morning- after he kissed me goodbye- that he's dizzy and thinks he has an ear infection. I was like- "Thanks for telling me AFTER you kissed me!" LOL

Princessroja 05-08-2017 03:31 PM

EagleRiverDee, we are almost twins! Soon enough we'll be in the 140s thread together I hope. Can't wait for the next decade... soooo close now. And ha! at your story--luckily ear infections themselves aren't contagious though so hopefully no consequences for you! In our household, I got a very small cold on Friday, my husband came down with it Saturday, and my mom came down with it really bad on Sunday. It seems to move through very fast but it really nailed our house. And my mom hasn't gotten sick for 3.5 years (!) so pity this weekend broke her record. I felt pretty bad though that I was the one who got us all sick this time, oops. :(

Princessroja 05-09-2017 10:52 AM

Well, I guess I am closer to the 140s than I thought. 150.0 today. :O That puts me at only a pound behind; I can definitely catch that up this month! Wow... still a bit in shock. But very happy!!

EagleRiverDee 05-09-2017 01:37 PM

Woot! Keep up the good work!

Princessroja 05-10-2017 10:38 AM

Welp, 149.8 today... I'm going to give it a day or two and see if it sticks, but I guess that means I'm soon to be in the next decade! On the one hand, yay! On the other hand, hmph! The 140s thread is very quiet.

Edit: I should also say I've had several people ask if I've lost weight out of the blue in the last week. It's very encouraging, since I just passed the 25 pound mark. It's nice to feel the joy of weight loss again instead of feeling plumper than when I started.

medaisies 05-10-2017 02:04 PM

I just joined because I need a little support - I tend to have the best success when I'm doing things with someone. I weighed myself for the first time in months today, and I clocked in at 159, my heaviest in a while. I have three months to lose it for my August wedding. Any recommendations? I'm freaking out a little. I work out 4-5 times a week (or rather I'm starting up again :/) but I think I need some help with food.

EagleRiverDee 05-11-2017 06:22 PM

150.4 for me today. First time I've seen 150 for many years. :)

Princessroja- Congratulations! I hope you're solidly in the 140's and hope I'm not far behind you!

Medaisies- Oh goodness, food is so individual. I can only tell you what worked for me. Two things have been super effective- one was reducing carbs, specifically alcohol and wheat products. I cannot lose weight if I drink alcohol at all, and wheat is pretty close. I am very carb sensitive, and not all people are so take that for what it's worth. The other thing I did is started eating my dinners out of a bowl at home instead of a plate. The reason this worked is it enforced portion control. If it could fit in the bowl, I could eat it. I had discovered I was greatly overeating, and had become very accustomed to seeing much larger portions of food on my plate than I should have been...and then going back for seconds. The bowl thing worked for me. It's not unique- there are diet programs out there (like the 21 Day Fix) that use portion containers, I just did mine using something I already had and it worked.

Princessroja 05-12-2017 12:23 PM

EagleRiverDee, YAY! That's fantastic, I know it's been a hard slog down to this point recently. After a brief water bump yesterday to 150.2, I'm back at 149.8. Hopefully I can bring it down to 149 by Monday.

I've been eating great meals the last two days, but fell off the wagon in the evening, one night with animal crackers (I was hungry! lol) and then last night a friend brought over ice cream as a surprise for our movie night. It was kind of her, and I had very little, but I didn't really want it. I don't mind eating ice cream, but I do like to enjoy it, and I didn't particularly enjoy this brand, so it feels like such a waste, you know? It hasn't helped that the last two days have been really stressful and workouts didn't happen. Anyways, hopefully no more sugary falling off the wagon today and the scale will continue to go down. I've already worked out so that's at least a big win.

EagleRiverDee 05-12-2017 01:56 PM

150.0 for me today (the scale briefly teased me with 149.8 but it was not to be, haha), but as we're going into the weekend (where I tend to get a little more flexible about how and what I eat) Monday will be the day of truth!

Princessroja- I know what you mean about not wanting the ice cream. My diet since October has been nearly void of added sugars, and I don't drink juice or use honey either. Even fruit has a limited presence in my diet. As a consequence, I've pretty much lost my taste for sweets. I do have a small piece of dark chocolate now and then, that's it.

I hope everyone is doing well on their goals and that you have a great weekend! I took today off work and we're shaping up to have the nicest day of the year so far, so I'm excited. Time to take my dogs for a walk, I think!

Princessroja 05-12-2017 09:42 PM

Whoop! Well, it looks like we should move down into the 140s together then! Then 140s thread won't be so quiet. ;) Hope that walk was fun! I did some weight lifting and yoga today so am eating a pancake. With real maple syrup, thankyouverymuch. I do love sugar but I am learning to enjoy it in smaller quantities now. ;)

EagleRiverDee 05-13-2017 01:15 PM

149.6 today. Kind of weird how I hovered at 152/153 for like 7 weeks and then all of a sudden swoosh. I don't get what causes the swoosh. Since I have a tendency to bounce up and down, I'll stay in this thread until I'm for sure that I'm in the 140's as for all I know tomorrow I'll be 152!

I had a fantastic day yesterday- it was almost 70 here which is nice for early May in Alaska. I took both dogs for walks separately - 3 miles each dog. So 6 miles total. I took the top off my Jeep, turned up the music, and took a drive. And then I had a thing at church. It was a perfect day. :) Weather is shaping up similarly for today, although I'm not nearly so free today. Looks like a Costco run this morning, and then I have a volunteer thing this afternoon. But it sure is pretty out!

I hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend! How is everybody's progress? Medaisies? Britt? Syckgirlsfv? Miracle2617?

Princessroja- sounds like you had a very active day yesterday, way to go! I miss maple syrup! I love a good waffle with butter and maple syrup. :) If I manage to stay in the 140's until Monday I'll move on to the 140's forum with ya. :)

Princessroja 05-13-2017 01:58 PM

EagleRiverDee, deal! I keep bouncing back and forth over the 150 line just a bit either direction but I'll move down with you Monday. Hopefully I'll lose a bit over the weekend. I whooshed a lot early in the week and seem stable now. :(

Princessroja 05-15-2017 09:15 AM

Well, I don't think I'll see any loss today. Hrmph. Anyways, it's always the sweets that get me. Like, last time when I posted I didn't want any more surprises, my husband came home and !surprise! started making chocolate chip pancakes... which are my favorite. Hrmph. So I still forged ahead and made--and ate--my salmon salad, but I can't pretend the two pancakes I ate with it did my daily caloric intake any good.

So I'm proposing a shift. I've told myself I can eat whatever I want for the next week as long as it's only the highest quality food, and I'm trying to do a French meal plan for this week. Like, the three course dinner meal plan. It's way less complex than it sounds; it'll probably wind up being the same amount of time I usually spend prepping meals (which isn't much, I like simple recipes) but it has even more vegetables and fruits than normal (one night, for example, is butternut squash soup, baked salmon w/ potatoes, and then yogurt/cheese/fruit; another is shredded carrot salad and pork roast with veggies, and fruit/yogurt/cheese).

What I really want to try though is ending meals with a bit of yogurt or cheese and fruit. Maybe a bit of dark chocolate if really necessary. I want to see if that calms the sweet tooth. I gave it a brief trial run yesterday eating a bit of fruit/cheese after a small lunch, and it definitely worked. I nibbled on the cheese and only made it halfway through both the cheese and the (small) apple. So... we shall see. My calorie intake is pretty steady around 1350 once you take away the sugar, and 1350 works for me to lose weight, so if I can be satisfied with less I should start making progress again.

Edit: Tried my first meal and it totally worked. I had mini baguette open-face turkey/cheese sandwiches, baby carrots, guacamole, and then a half cup of vanilla Greek yogurt for dessert. It calculates out to about 400 calories and I'm totally satisfied--in fact, I feel too full! And best of all, I don't want sugar right now.

Princessroja 05-16-2017 10:18 AM

Well, 149.2 this morning, so I think I'm going to head into the 140s thread. My first full day of the experiment went splendidly. Despite another friend bringing me a surprise smoothie (what is it with the surprise food this week? at least it was delicious and not too high in calories), I came in well under calorie budget with no dessert (well, minus the smoothie). So I'm counting it a success. I do feel much more satisfied having yogurt or cheese or fruit for dessert, so day two, here we go!

Congrats! I had the predictable weekend bump to 151 so I'll follow along when I'm solidly in the 140's. :)

Ah no! It will be too quiet in there without you. I hope you drop asap! :D

I'll get there! I'm annoyed with myself for the bump but it's temporary. :) For sure!

I can't wait (and I'm sure you can't either, lol)!

Also, the second day of my French eating experiment is done and it again worked brilliantly. I had a square of dark chocolate but came in well within my calorie budget. :D

EagleRiverDee 05-17-2017 01:21 PM

Princessroja- I do a little piece of chocolate just about every day. It's my one real indulgence besides real cream in my coffee occasionally. :)

Down to 150 today. By tomorrow I think I'll be back at 149. Here's hoping!

Miracle2617 05-19-2017 02:22 PM

Congrats to all you losers.😄 Good to see some of you heading to the 140s thread.I am 149.6 today. My goal is 145 though I might make it 135.I could even go lower with my height.145 is a 100 pounds for me so that is why I picked it.I'm like Eagle River, I bump up and down.I was (before Mother's Day) a little lower. However, I had a birthday not long after and between two big celebrations I bumped up.Thankfully, I" m under 150 today and hoping for a swoosh soon.So thankful for losing this weight.Feel so much better.I have a some real stressors in my life right now so I am trying to breath deep, have faith and not think food will help.I can do this last 5 to 10 pounds.I have to keep believing it.I still love reading the board even when not posting.Congrats again to all of you heading down the scales!

EagleRiverDee 05-22-2017 02:07 PM

Thanks everyone for all the support- I'm moving on the "Getting out of the 140's" today. :)

happynottsgirl 05-23-2017 07:00 AM

^^Congratulations!

I am finally making some progress (with calorie counting with myfitnesspal), at 152.8 today, wow, can't believe it. So close to the 140s.

I am on staycation now so focusing heavily on the eating and tracking. Hope to see the 140s in 3 weeks just for my return to work!

Keika 05-23-2017 04:23 PM

Good morning, peeps! :D

Guess what? After two weeks at 160, I FINALLY dropped into the 150s! Now, hopefully I'm here for real, and I don't just bounce up in the next couple days. ;)

This is the last leg of the road for me. I'm 5'10", so 150 will put me solidly in the middle range of BMI. When I weighed 200, 150 was unimaginably small, and now it feels attainable! :D I'm not sure if I'll actually stop there, but I figure the lowest I might try to stretch for would probably be 145. I'm looking and feeling awesome already, I'd just like to look a little... awesome-er. ;)

Still, I'm kind of struggling with the question of "How do I know when to quit?". I'm positive I haven't reached the stopping point yet, but will I know it when I see it, or will I continually unfairly judge my body and constantly push to get to a lower weight? Sorry to poke my head in here and immediately ask probing questions, but do you guys have any thoughts on that?

In any case, HOORAY, I'm so happy to be here in the 150s thread!! Nice to meet you all!! :carrot:

iScreamSandwich 05-26-2017 11:32 AM

Been here forever

I've been on 152-154 forever I think. So much so that I've started ignoring those 1-2 lb fluctuations (plus or minus). It's so frustrating. It's like my fat loves me too much to let go of me! :?:

I was stuck on 153 for like 6 weeks. It sucked. Not sure what causes plateaus, but just stay consistent on your efforts and you'll get past it.

Keika 05-28-2017 04:11 PM

TOM's finally over, and I'm starting to see that glorious post-TOM whoosh! 158 this morning! :D

happynottsgirl 05-29-2017 11:06 AM

153.4 this morning

hoping for 152.x this weekend!!! good luck everyone :carrot:

happynottsgirl 06-01-2017 03:43 AM

152.8 :carrot:

now going for the 151! Weather is nice I think I will go for a walk today :)

Keika 06-01-2017 11:49 PM

Congrats, happynottsgirl! You've got some great progress going on there! :D

That "glorious post-TOM whoosh" I was excited about didn't actually happen. I got one day when I dropped a full pound, but since then I've been stalled in the 158.7-159.0 range. Frankly, though, this could be completely my fault. I've been eating extra carbs and calories for breakfast in the form of leftover pancakes all week. :) They were super good, though, and I don't regret a thing. Besides tasting good, they've had the effect of me not being starving again by 10:00, and they've killed a lot of my cravings for chocolate and other sweet foods (both of these have been annoying problems for several weeks). Now I'm out of the pancakes, so it's back to normal breakfast, but it was a good week, even without the whoosh I was hoping for. ^^

happynottsgirl 06-02-2017 02:44 AM

Hi there Keika!

Same here for me, I started with calorie counting about a month ago. Was doing more 'healthy' eating at first, but the last days have spiraled into cookies/french toast for breakfast, ice cream snacks etc, it all fits into my calories but leaves me hungrier at night!

So I decided today I will go back to healthier, higher protein foods.

152.0 this morning!:carrot:
