I'm calling it official too. Third day under 150. 😁

Nightowlrn 02-04-2017 12:19 PM

Goodbye. I am continuing on to the 140's group. I have been here with the 150s since November!!! and was beginning to think I was never going to break through. But, I am firmly 148-149 now and the journey continues. Good luck to all hoping to break through as well and I hope to see you in the 140s group soon.

fitgaltati 02-07-2017 06:51 AM

150s for six months now

Today I'm down to 151, but I've been between 151-154 since August. Hopefully, I can graduate to the 140s thread soon. Le sigh.

kahaney 02-13-2017 01:03 AM

Hi! Just checking to see if anyone is still active here? I am in the 150s...at 158lbs, so might be here for a bit!

EagleRiverDee 02-13-2017 02:52 PM

May I join you all? I just got into the 150's for the first time in many years. My next mini-goal is 145 because that would put me in the "not overweight" category for the first time in over 10 years. But it's getting harder to lose - I was losing 3 lbs a week easy, then it dropped to 1 lb a week, now I typically stay at one weight for a couple of weeks before I see any movement. It's frustrating- maybe this group can help encourage me and give me some advice to get things moving again?

Hi! It's looking like it's just us two here! I'm pretty new again to this weight loss thing, so I'm not sure about advice I can give, but I can be there working away at he 150s with you! :)

Hey, at least we're not alone! I'm excited to be in the 150's again and am looking forward to pushing through them.

I've been doing some walking outside (just resumed, because it warmed up enough that it wasn't bitter cold out) and doing some video exercise programs plus watching my diet. Diet is easier said than done- I have a real problem with portion control. What's working for me lately is I don't use our big plates, but only the little plates or the bowls. The big plates are huge and if I fill one of those up, it's no bueno.

kahaney 02-16-2017 04:05 AM

Yeah, I am super glad you're here! I have a problem with snacking since moving in with my partner. He's able to snack like crazy and look amazing, but when I snack it'a terrible! I gotta have more willpower! I am pretty good for the exercise, but the food is hard right now!

Thanks! I am glad you are here too! Maybe more will join us. :)

I hear you completely on the frustration - my husband is 6'3" and can eat anything and look great. I'm 5'5" and can't, haha. He makes the most delicious things and all I can do is eye them with envy because I know if I eat them I'll regain. Additionally, I work out about 6 days a week, and he plays men's volleyball a couple times a week and calls it good. Genetics and gender differences on fitness and weight loss can be so frustrating, haha!

kahaney 02-18-2017 03:29 AM

Totally!!! It's super annoying! But, I'm glad we can do this together! I'm 5'1" so every little pound shows up SOOOO much! I also hope more people join us! Sorry for the delays in responding! It's been an insane week!!

EagleRiverDee 02-20-2017 12:15 AM

Hope you had a great weekend, Kahaney! I got some walking in with my dogs, some shoveling (got about 9 inches of snow over the weekend), some errands, some volunteering and today did a T25 workout and some yoga. :)

kahaney 02-20-2017 01:06 PM

Hi!

That's great to hear! I did ok on the eating front, but I was stuck in a First Aid CPR-C course all weekend so that chewed up some exercise time! This means I didn't lose weight this weekend, but I stayed the same. So, could be better, could be worse! But, I can save lives now, so that's cool!

That is way cool! And maintaining is a skill, too. I only drop 1 lb about every 10 days, these days. The closer I get to goal, the longer it takes. I probably need to make another tweak in my diet to speed things up so I don't get discouraged.

kahaney 02-21-2017 10:08 PM

Yeah, diet tweaking can be annoying but so necessary, haha. I'm struggling with being pretty hungry this week, but the first week is always the worst...At least in my experience with this weight loss struggle, hahaha.

EagleRiverDee 02-22-2017 12:59 AM

Gah, so frustrated today. Got my latest blood results back and my A1C is 5.6. At 5.7 I will be pre-diabetic. I am at an utter loss- I exercise daily, I have lost nearly 50 lbs in 10 months, I don't eat sweets, drink soda, drink alcohol or drink juice. I eat 1 piece of fruit a day. I don't eat bread or pasta. How is it when I was heavier, didn't exercise and ate like crap I didn't have any issues and now I do? Sorry- I'm just venting. I just am upset about this, it feels like a slap in the face.

kahaney 02-23-2017 02:14 AM

Oh, I'm so sorry that is happening. I wish I could help you, or that I had a better understanding of medical stuff pertaining to blood sugar. I know diabetes isn't always associated with weight, or even diet. Maybe this is that kind of case? Are your doctors telling you any other info about why your sugar levels are raising despite these positive health steps? Sending you a hug!

EagleRiverDee 02-23-2017 12:27 PM

Thanks, Kahaney. I see my doc today and that is one thing I will discuss with her. I've had a series of health issues for the past year and a half. But the upside is that I've lost weight since my last appointment and I know she'll be pleased with that. It shows I'm trying, at least. And I'm starting to feel better when I exercise- tighter, not all jiggly. It makes exercise more fun. :)

I hope you have a great day!

kahaney 02-24-2017 01:32 PM

Oh, awesome! And I totally get that! I'm not quite feeling tighter yet as my journey is still relatively new again, but I am loving the rush of new weight loss! I'm excited to start seeing and feeling real progress!! Thank you! I hope your day is awesome, too!

EagleRiverDee 02-28-2017 05:56 PM

Kahaney- how is it going? My weekend was good- I went for a nice winter hike on Saturday, and got some video workouts in on Sunday. Yesterday was Piyo Upper Body and yoga- just 30 minutes total. Planning to work harder today. Mondays are always harder for me to get motivated! I hope you had a great weekend. :)

Princessroja 03-04-2017 09:50 AM

Exciting to get to post in the 150s thread. :) I waited for ages to get out of the 160s it seemed! Now suddenly I seem to have found the magic formula for my body somehow and the scale has been sliding down. 157.4 this morning and it's been going down slowly but steadily all week long. Hopefully this trend continues... I took my caloric intake down a little more and started doing yoga every day instead of my other exercise. We'll see how it works going into the next two weeks, which will be busy and stressful and I might not have as much time to devote to weight loss. :/

EagleRiverDee 03-04-2017 04:38 PM

Welcome Princessroja! Sometimes all you have to do is a tweak, way to go!

I'm at 156 right now and once again my body is just stubbornly hanging on. But whatever. It'll drop another pound eventually, haha.

kahaney 03-10-2017 04:50 PM

Hi,

Sorry I've been MIA. I was assaulted over the weekend and have been dealing with police and feeling very rattled and anxious, so I haven't been keeping up with anything very well. I'm only starting to feel OK again, so will try to prioritize this again.
Glad to see you both here, though!

Princessroja 03-10-2017 07:55 PM

:O Oh my goodness, how scary, Kahaney!! I hope you have the most restful weekend possible and that any loose ends get tied up asap. :hugs: if you want them!

Not like there's a easy way to segue into a less intense topic, but here goes anyway for my weekly update. :/

As promised, this week has in fact been incredibly stressful and I'm so glad it's almost over. It's been a hard week weight loss wise too--my body randomly decided to hold onto water and the scale has been bouncing up and down. The last normal reading was 156.4, so hopefully I'll be a bit below that when the water drops off. I can't blame my body for freaking out too much. I fought off a cold, I've been getting less sleep than normal, been running hither, thither, and yon, and just dealing with a lot. The water does seem to be coming off again, so that's encouraging. But in the midst of all that there's been some great victories in that I haven't turned to stress eating and have resisted a lot of siren calls for dessert. Even the ones I've answered have been very modest and I stayed within a respectable caloric intake each day. For me, that's a HUGE HUGE thing, so I guess I can't be too unhappy with the week. :) Here's to a less stressful week next week for everyone!

EagleRiverDee 03-10-2017 08:21 PM

Holy moly, Kahaney! I hope you are okay, and that you are able to quickly put it behind you psychologically. :(

Princessroja- that does indeed sound like a demanding week!

I am glad both of you are back. My week has been a mixed bag- I took a supplement that I am apparently allergic to and have had a major case of hives and itchiness. But the hardest part of my week is my little furball Oscar (cat) got a bowel blockage and had to have a bowel resection. So a pretty hefty vet bill and some home nursing involved. Both of these things have impacted my workouts as sweating made my hives worse, and the time spent at the vet and nursing has cut back on my free time.

Princessroja 03-10-2017 08:46 PM

Poor kitty! And I hope you feel better soon; those hives sound like no fun. :( I have two cats myself, so I definitely understand the vet bills and extra time thing!

kahaney 03-11-2017 04:23 AM

Awww, poor furbabies! I hope everything heals up smoothly! Thank you ladies, I'm hoping for a relaxing weekend and then getting my butt back in gear! I had lost weight last week, but am back to 158 after the weekend. Hoping for better progress here on in!

Princessroja 03-11-2017 10:07 AM

Yassssss. This morning the scale was at 155.6, which is exactly where it should be reading at my current loss rate. Yay! I feel like throwing a party!

EagleRiverDee 03-11-2017 01:02 PM

Nice, Princessroja!

Well done getting back into it, Kahaney!

What kind of diet/workouts are the both of you doing? I'm eating "Failsafe" which isn't for weight loss but rather because I've become allergic/sensitive to most foods and so I have to eat Failsafe which means I can't eat very many foods. It has a side effect of weight loss because I get bored with my food- less likely to eat when I'm bored with it, haha. For exercise I walk outside (when it's not too cold) and I've been doing a blend of yoga, Focus T25 and Piyo for my workouts. I alternate days on T25 and Piyo.

Princessroja 03-11-2017 02:15 PM

No diet for me, since I want to make sure it's sustainable for years to come. For me, that means including full fat dairy and sweets in appropriate portions. :) I usually wind up between 1350 and 1550 calories a day; a typical day is cereal and milk for breakfast, a quesadilla with veggies or perhaps spanakopita (Greek phyllo triangles with spinach and feta, YUM) and/or a smoothie, and then dinner an assortment of meat or pasta and always a veggie if I can help it. Nuts, milk, or chips and hummus for snacks, and definitely a cookie or similar most days. I use the USDA supertracker site that keeps track of all my micronutrients and fruit/vegetable servings... trying to get all of those basically ensures I eat well.

For workouts it's a variety depending on what time of year. Usually I take ballet class every week, teach ballet every week on average, in the winter I ice skate every week, and then yoga (my current thing--every day for two weeks now!)/conditioning/weightlifting at home/stretching/cardio dance youtube routines. I'm pretty active (usually about 300 minutes/week), which is probably why I'm losing this fast at that calorie intake when the calculators say I shouldn't be. ;) The upside of spending so many years in dance is that I can't stand not feeling strong and flexible, and that means maintaining a high activity level.

What's Focus T25 and Piyo? Are they fun? I might check them out if they are; I HATE most forms of cardio so finding something else fun would be great.

EagleRiverDee 03-11-2017 02:22 PM

Oh, I like the variety of your workouts, Princessroja!

Focus T25 and Piyo are both Beachbody programs. Focus T25 is circuit training with body weight only and heavy on the cardio but it's only 25 minutes long. Piyo is a blend of Pilates and Yoga, workouts vary between 20 minutes and 30 minutes long. Really, really good for developing core strength! I think both of them are fun. :)

Miracle2617 03-11-2017 04:01 PM

Hi, I posted several times in "getting out of the 160s", but kind of stopped when I got under 160.It took me a long time to get out of the 170s and 160s especially the 170s.The 150s are flying.Down to 153.6 in about 3 weeks. I haven't lost this quickly since I started out.Strange how our bodies work.I am starting to believe that set point weight idea.I spent a long time in the 170s after my second baby and a long time in the 160s after my first baby.Haven't seen the 150s in 20 years. It is nice to have a place to post even though I haven't too much.I"ve been reading the posts on this site for months. Weight loss is hard and any encouragement helps. My hubby mostly eats right but isn't really on a plan and the two kiddos are blessed to be naturally thin and fit. (So thankful for that.) None of them really understand the struggle though they try to help me. My family and my friends are proud of me but it is nice to talk to others that really understand. Anyway, all this is a long way of saying it is nice to read about the journeys of others. I hit my top weight ever about a year ago and was starting to have health issues. So I got serious about my weight loss journey. Counting calories and walking and I gave up a 5 to 6 coca cola a day habit.Still love that beverage but haven't had one since last summer.I lost very fast at first just decreasing soda. The doctor estimated I might have been drinking 1300 calories a day before I started trying to break the coca cola habit.I started out eating 1500 calories a day.Now I do 1200 - never less.Trying to keep the metabolism up.I try to focus on 5 pounds at a time and journaling.I wish I was better at the exercise part.My plan has worked so far and I am so grateful.I plan to go to 145.The doctor's BMI chart would say not enough and I might think it over when I get there but that has been my goal the whole time.I think it will be healthy for me.So excited to be almost there. Keep up the good work!! May we all win this battle.140s here we come.

EagleRiverDee 03-12-2017 04:56 AM

Miracle2617- it's good to have another person chiming in! I'm glad you are seeing success! And yes- 140's here we come!

kahaney 03-12-2017 07:18 PM

Hi all!

Yeah, I don't really diet anymore. I just try and cut out sugars and processed foods as much as possible and cutting down snacking! Dieting has led to failure and to relapses of my eating disorder, so I try to avoid it as much as possible. As for exercise, I walk everywhere I can, do plyo stuff at home, my job keeps me active (I work with children, so have at least an hour a day playing outside each day), box, run, etc! I used to be a competitive gymnast for 20 years (went to world's, national champion, etc), so my body is conditioned to work hard, so I don't usually lose weight as fast as others at my activity level, which can be very frustrating, actually. A big struggle of mine is dealing with being an ex-anorexic as well. I sometimes feel afraid of relapse when I start losing weight (as I've relapsed several times iny life), and that often holds me back from even starting. But, then it's a vicious cycle as I feel worthless when I'm heavier because of my disordered thinking. Very frustrating! But, being on this forum helps and helps me stay accountable and inspired!

Princessroja 03-12-2017 11:33 PM

Miracle 2617, good to have you join us. :)

Kahaney, that sounds frustrating indeed. :/ I haven't struggled with anorexia specifically but with disordered thinking definitely and it just makes everything so more complicated!

Well, after a discouraging party last night in which I ate too many cookies, I'm back on track today. Haven't been as hungry as normal, understandably, so I'm sitting around 1150 calories for the day, which should help balance yesterday out a little. Hopefully I can see the scale going in the right direction again tomorrow. The fun part was I got to wear my jeans last night for the first time in a couple of years and it was soooo nice. Granted they aren't quite comfortable yet--probably another 5 pounds--but it was wonderful to wear something other than black workout pants somewhere!! The hardest part is staying patient and encouraged, but knowing I've lost just shy of 20 pounds so far and being able to see the difference helps a lot.

EagleRiverDee 03-13-2017 01:08 PM

Good morning, everyone! I, too, don't have a formal diet. I have to eat a certain way due to severe food allergies and sensitivities, but I don't worry too much about counting calories generally.

The weekend was good- got my workouts in both days and also went ATV riding yesterday. We had a lot of fun playing out on the ice spinning donuts and such. It was pretty cold (9 degrees F) so we only stayed out about 3 hours and then went home. Even with good winter gear it's hard to keep hands and feet warm at those temps.

Hope everyone is recovering from the time change. I slept really well but still feel like I got up too early!

Princessroja 03-13-2017 10:16 PM

EagleRiverDee, that sounds like fun! We're supposed to be getting a big snowstorm tomorrow so we'll see how things go here. It's about 20, so not too cold, but everything is cancelled in anticipation of the foot of snow.

We'll see too how well I can manage to eat this week. The good news is the stress has gone down in a big way--I'm lighting designer and lighting board operator for a theater production, we had our first tech rehearsal tonight, and I'm very pleased with how it went. So that lightens my load a lot. On the other hand, my husband has come down with the flu, poor guy. I'm starting to feel the effects of all the other stress and now this gets added in. :sigh: Luckily we caught it in time for him to take Tamiflu so he should feel better soon, and we're both hoping I don't get it (because then who would run the lights?). My goal for this week is to continue to make wise choices despite being so exhausted and time-pressed. Even if I don't lose any weight this week I'll count that a pretty big victory. I can already feel the pull towards comfort carbs...

kahaney 03-14-2017 04:50 AM

The hour change was pretty smooth this year, for once! I'm settling into my new job and new city, finally, ate well today, and am feeling optimistic again about everything! I'm hungry quite a bit, but that's normal as I transition into a new lifestyle,I think! I'm happy we're doing this together!!!

EagleRiverDee 03-14-2017 02:15 PM

Princessroja- so sorry to hear about your husband being sick- here's best wishes that he gets better fast and you don't get it at all! I'm glad your stress at work is down. :)

Kahaney- so NYC is new to you? Do you love it? It sounds like a really neat place. I've never been. I really have very little experience in cities, period. Anchorage, Alaska (nearest city to me) is only a small city of about 300K people with another 100K living nearby (including me). Our whole state doesn't even have a million people. I think my head would explode in a place that has literally millions, lol. But it looks like a cool place to visit, for sure, and I think it'd be neat to live somewhere you don't even have to own a car. You HAVE to have a car where I live. We have the worst public transit. No subway or rail, only bus or tax, and bus service is seriously limited. Anyway, you sound very happy so I'm glad for you!

Yesterday I stepped it up a bit and took both my dogs for a walk separately (it's easier to control them separately and I get more steps in) and then did T25 Total Body Circuit. I was hoping to sleep well but I didn't. Here's hoping tonight goes better! I saw a 2 lb bounce in my weight over the weekend- too many potatoes, I think- so trying to get it back down. Argh.

Vicincali2 03-14-2017 08:25 PM

So I am excited about being in the 150s. I am at 158 pounds this morning. And hopefully will reach 157 tomorrow. I have been eating right and exercising. I started at 163 pounds so I lost 5 pounds. I hope I lose another 5 pounds these next 2 weeks.

Princessroja 03-14-2017 10:03 PM

Congrats, Vicincali2! It must be so exciting to move down a thread. I can't wait until I get down into the 140s thread!

EagleRiverDee, I feel ya on the random weight bounce. Mine did a big bounce up Sunday too and it's held suspiciously steady the last few days despite me eating and exercising well, so methinks it's water. It started to jump down again this morning and I hope it'll be back to normal tomorrow. I have not gotten sick, I'm happy to report, and my husband is feeling better, so I'm hopeful I'll make it out of this week unscathed. I ate fantastically today, so that's good. Oh, and a nice NSV yesterday--someone offered me a piece of chocolate cake and I didn't WANT it. Like, at all. I excused myself on the basis of keeping up my immune system so I wouldn't get sick, but the biggest reason was I truly didn't want it. YAY!
