Welcome Vicincali2! Congrats!
Thanks for the encouragement, Princessroja! One of the two found pounds left overnight, yay. Now just need to drop the other so I can get back to losing. So glad to hear you didn't get sick and that your hubby is feeling better! And way to go on saying "no" to the chocolate cake. Right now, my willpower is at an all time low. I feel like if I wasn't allergic to so many things, I'd have a major pig-out. I guess sometimes allergies are a blessing. |
Well, I dropped down to nearly where I should be this morning, so that's good. I wound up going wildly off-plan today due to some unforeseen circumstances so hopefully tomorrow won't be too scary. Blargh. Oh well, I still ate less than I burned so hey, that's life I guess. EagleRiverDee, hopefully that other found pound disappears asap! :)
|
Ugh, well I didn't even weigh myself this morning. My cat that had surgery last week is acting like he's in pain, I took him to the emergency vet at 3am but they couldn't see him (their one vet had just gone into surgery). I never did fall back asleep. He's got a vet appt at 2pm today, so fingers crossed. I'm pretty wasted today, though. I hope everyone else is having a better day than me for sure!
|
Oh, I'm so sorry. :( Keep us updated, if you can, and I hope your kitty feels better asap!!
|
Hi!
I had been living in NYC for four years, but I've actually just moved back to Canada! I'm in Vancouver, BC, now! I'm used to the huge city, so now it's taking some adjusting to a bit of a slower pace! This week was hard for me! I started it out great, but I have also found my willpower fairly low. My anxiety is still high and I found out some disheartening news about the assault case, but honestly other than that I'm doing really well! Feeling the pressure to lose more quickly, though, which I don't like! |

I'm sorry to hear you are still having anxiety, although that's more than understandable. I suffer from anxiety in general, so can't even imagine the condition I'd be in after an assault. :( I hope that the news gets better and that they are able to catch and prosecute your attacker. It sounds like you are doing a good job of taking care of yourself and I think your willpower will bounce back soon! My cat is doing better, and so that's good news here. My weight jump also came back down, so I'm happier there. I'm at that stage in my weight loss journey where sometimes I can see things I'm pleased about (I can see some ribs now, my muscle has more definition) and sometimes I only see things I'm not happy about (why is my belly still so big, and oh noes I'm getting that saggy look by my belly button lol). I am at 154 these days. My short term goal is to hit 145 which would officially put me in the "normal" weight category. It'd be nice to finally not be overweight. I have seen some NSV's- primarily my resting heart rate is now in the 50's and my blood pressure has dropped significantly. That's encouraging. |
I'll echo what EagleRiver Dee says, Kahaney! You sound like you're doing a fantastic job taking care of yourself.
Well... for my part this week has been a mixed bag. On the one hand, I'm hovering about a half a pound above where I was last Saturday, and I'm hoping it's water. I've eaten dinner out for the last four nights (our theater provides dinner for cast and crew) so there's just been a lot more sodium and sugar available. Thankfully they also serve a lot of fruits and vegetables so I appreciate that. I'll probably be eating similarly next week being on vacation, but hopefully I can manage okay. On the plus side, one nice NSV is that yesterday was the first day I didn't work out in three weeks. Normally when I'm stressed that goes by the wayside, but this time I kept it up. I just have to keep reminding myself that lifestyle changes happen slowly! |
Welp, I'm back from my week of vacation and after two weeks of some interesting eating habits, I'm happy to report that this morning's scale read 156.2. Not too shabby. I think by Monday my body should have calmed down enough for a more accurate reading--I ate a TON of salt and sugar this week (so. much. fried. food.) and it's TOM, so we'll see how things settle out. Either way, it's not a bad reading and I'm looking forward to life going back to normal!
|
Okay, I have to say it somewhere--I've got a ticker now! Yay!!
|
Where is everyone?? Anyways, back down to 155.6 this morning; very happy, since that's the same as my lowest reading two weeks ago and that means I haven't gained any weight over the last two crazy weeks. Yippee! Now to start going down again!

Sorry to be absent so long. Things are good here. I had a birthday this week, and the day after my birthday my husband and I and my step-son went out snowmobiling and just had a blast. It's our favorite thing to do in the winter. We went back to a glacier and explored an ice cave in the glacier, and played in deep snow and jumped and carved and pulled wheelies. Sometimes you just have to be a kid!
I'm still losing little by little. I'll have a couple weeks where I lose nothing, then I'll lose 2 lbs in one week. It's sort of weird. I've lost a little faster lately because it's Lent (I'm Catholic) and we do a little more fasting and abstaining from certain foods etc. during this time before Easter. Also my doctor suggested I switch up my breakfast from a more carb based breakfast to a more protein based breakfast. I'm not one to get up early enough to actually cook, so I bought a huge tub o' protein powder that hopefully I will be able to tolerate with my allergies and sensitivities that I have. I had some yesterday and so far so good. I had some more this morning. If I don't react by tomorrow, I'm probably good to go on this stuff. It is pretty satiating- 25g of protein at 120 calories. I've noticed that as part of the weight loss I've also been losing muscle and am hoping that the increased protein will help with that. |
That snowmobiling sounds like fun, EagleRiverDee! Ice caves sound amazing. And I hear you on not making breakfast in the morning... I do a nicely fortified cereal since I too am just not.a.morning.person. The protein powder sounds like a good compromise.
For my part, scale is down to 154.8 this morning, which is suuuuuuuper exciting, especially after the shenanigans of the last two weeks. I'm doing a 52 in 52 challenge this year and I just squeaked into my goal for this week (155). That's a quarter through the year, and I'm still on track. Hooray! When I think that I've only lost 12 pounds this year it's rather discouraging, but then I remind myself that slow and steady wins the race, and if I just keep on going, I'll be to goal weight by the end of the year. :) |
Slow and steady wins the race for sure. We do have to remember- and I constantly have to remind myself of this- that we didn't put the weight on nearly as fast as we are trying to lose it. :) As long as I'm losing or even maintaining, right now I'm happy. I just don't want to see the scale go up. I gave away my bigger clothes yesterday to charity, so now I'm committed. I'm still a little scared by that decision. The last time I lost weight, I gained most of it back. So I'm pretty worried the same thing will happen this time and that I'll end up having to buy all new clothes again and will be kicking myself for giving away my clothes. Especially since some of the items I gave away I really liked. And for some reason the clothes I really like seem to get discontinued and I can never find them again.
Congrats on the goal achievement! |
It's so true! It took me eight years to get to this point, and a year and a half is a comparatively small amount of time to take it off. Still feels like forever though!
And yes... I have a pile of bigger clothes in my closet that I'm too skittish to give away yet. I really should. I'm never going back--but when I say that, still, I wonder, "But what if I do?" |

I hope you will too! We can both do it. :)
However. Urgh. If it isn't one thing it's another. I was so happy when I got home and started losing again... and then I got sick. Again. I woke up on Tuesday with a cough and it's gotten a bit worse since then. The coughing tires me out, so not a lot of motivation to get moving, and for some reason, my body just stops losing weight when I get sick. So frustrating! I got some OTC meds tonight to clear up the chest congestion (don't want that getting established!) and help the cough, so hopefully I won't need to go to the doc, but still. I'm eating pretty well, but it's hard seeing the scale not move, especially when it's so out of my control like this. And while I'm already eating a low-ish calorie diet (1300-1500/day), I'm wary of cutting it back more just to see the scale move--gotta give my body what it needs right now I guess. :sigh: |
Well, I guess good news follows frustration... sharp drop today to 153.4. Now that's a number I'm happy to see! I don't necessarily think it'll stay, but still very good to see.
|
Princessroja- I hope you are feeling better, and congrats on the weight loss! I had a 2 pound bump UP this week, argh. But I'm pretty sure that it's inflammation. I was trying a protein powder to see if it would work with my food sensitivities and allergies. It looks like it was a bust because my stomach pain returned and the weight jump usually indicates inflammation for me because I didn't go crazy on my diet. I'm going to cut the protein powder and expect within a week those 2 lbs will disappear as the inflammation goes down.
I graduated from T25 Alpha to T25 Beta (exercise program). Seriously so much fun. I'm surprised how fun I'm finding it because I am NOT a cardio person by nature, but the footwork in the Beta round is so fast it's ridiculously fun. I'm hoping it'll warm up soon so I can get more outdoor walking in. I want to add resistance training but have been having a seriously weird side effect that every time I do resistance training I'll wake up in the middle of the night having serious anxiety attacks. I have no idea why, neither does my doctor. It's a new thing that started in December, I never used to have this issue. Getting older sucks sometimes, haha. Hormones get whacked. How is everyone else? Anyone else still following? Miracle2617? Kahaney? Vicincali2? |
Hi.Thanks for asking about me EagleRiver.I am at 151.6 today. The first 6 pounds in this decade fell off. Now, I have lost 2 in 2 weeks. Both my kiddos had birthday celebrations in those weeks though and we had a cookout at the house with friends one night so I know I have been over calories a few days.Still trying. It is beautiful outside where I am.Hoping to get out some today.Going to make myself start exercising someway. So grateful I have lost as much as I have and it is easier to be active.Don't know why I don't try to do more fitness activities. My goal for spring is to find something active I like.I need it for health and to help keep the metobilism up.Hope you all are doing great! I really enjoy reading all the posts.

Hi Miracle! Wow, you're almost in the 140's club! Way to go!
I think it's always easier to exercise when it's nicer out. We're having a pretty nice day here, actually, and I think I'm going to go take the dogs for a walk. It's sunny and around 50, I'd guess, which for Alaska in early April is pretty nice. :) I hope everyone is having a great Sunday. I got my workout in just a few minutes ago and have done good on my diet this weekend. |
Wow, Miracle, you're almost out of the 150s! That's awesome!
EagleRiverDee, that exercise sounds like fun. Hope you guys get some warm weather soon; I'm sure after an Alaskan winter everyone is ready for some sun. :) For myself, I'm getting over a nasty cold that ground all my exercise plans to a halt. Finally feel human again today. Scale says 154.0, which I'm thrilled about, since that means I'm 13 pounds down in 13 weeks, right on track. Plus, my jeans fit okay--still 2 or 3 pounds until they're wonderful, but definitely fine to wear out and about--so I'm loving wearing them on errands and stuff. Amazing how much more stylish I can be when I have more options than workout pants! |
152.8 today! Nice to be eating right and exercising again, and having some of that water I held onto while I was sick come off. Just realized it won't be more than another two or three weeks before I'm out of the 150s... eep!
|
Princessroja- nice on the loss! Great job! I'm still fighting that 2 lb gain. Not sure what happened there, so I'm just doubling down on proper portions right now and cutting my carbs a bit.
It is pretty great when clothes start fitting better. I'm really enjoying that. But you know what my favorite NSV has been lately? I can put a standard towel around me when I get out of the shower. I didn't used to be able to do that except with a beach towel. LOL |
How fun! That's a NSV I haven't thought about before (because I rarely wrap towels around me :D), but yeah, that would be really nice. The NSV I've been enjoying the most recently is being able to take my wedding ring on and off at will. It fits perfectly now. The last several years it has been SO tight and I couldn't get it off, ever.

I have been soooo tired lately. I have no idea why. I know I'm not sleeping particularly well (I wake a lot at night) but it doesn't seem abnormal. But I'm so tired! It's making working out a chore. And it's not like I work out crazy, I do 1/2 hour workout most days, maybe an hour tops. The only time I do more, really, is if I go hiking or take my dogs for a walk. Hoping the fatigue goes away soon. Hope everyone is having lovely spring weather! It's funny up here in Alaska- we nearly hit 50 degrees yesterday and people are running around in shorts and flip-flops. Seriously. |
:( I hope the fatigue goes away soon too! Maybe if it doesn't, a visit to the doc is in order? Being that tired makes everything so much harder.
It's snowing here today, actually! But it's supposed to get warmer over the weekend, which will be nice... 152 even this morning. A nice number to see! |
Hi Princessroja and everyone-
I am feeling better, not as fatigued. My sleep quality has been better the past few nights, which has been SO welcome. I stayed active this weekend doing T25, Piyo and walking outside in the nice weather we're having. The dogs are loving their walks! I'm back down to 152, which is nice. But tonight's dinner is roast beef with potatoes- we'll see what my body thinks of the carbs from the potatoes. But I'll be back on track tomorrow! Has anyone ever experienced feeling like exercise is making you weaker? I swear my strength is going down, instead of up. I was up to 20 real pushups about 2 months ago, now I'm back to having to do pushups on my knees. Not sure what that is all about- ideas? Hope weather is good where you all are. It's been 50-ish here and the snow is melting fast. Saw the first ice cream truck of the season today, which I think is pretty early. I remember as a kid just running for the ice cream truck when we heard the music! Have a great Palm Sunday everyone! |
Hi, everyone!
I'm new here. I weighed in today at 159.6! I usually weigh in on Sundays only but I really wanted to see the drop out of the 160s as soon as it happened. I haven't seen the 150s since 2015, so I am so excited to be here. |
:welcome: Brd88! So glad you can join us!
Things are still going good with me. I've been sticking to daily workouts. The scale is stubbornly refusing to budge but I'm not going to let that get me down. I have a hike with my ladies hiking group tonight up a mountain, so that should torch some serious calories. :) How is everyone? Princessroja? Miracle2617? Kahaney? Vincicali2? |
Welcome Britt!! Good to have you here. :) Always exciting to move down a decade!
EagleRiverDee, that hike sounds fun! It's getting warm enough to comfortably hike here too, so maybe soon. There's some really nice hikes in my area. Hopefully that will get the scale moving again! Nothing so frustrating as watching it stay steady when you know you're doing all the right things. >_< For my part, I hit a new low this morning, barely. 151.8. So that's good, but it's been a super frustrating few days of the scale bouncing around madly and climbing from water weight. Hopefully I can use this next week to my best advantage, since I need to decide Friday or Saturday if I'm going to buy a pair of jeans for the trip or not. I really don't want to wear my too big stretch pants to visit family I haven't seen in five years. :( |
Thank you for the welcomes!
It looks like you two will probably be gone soon! I'm hoping the scale will work in both of your favors soon! I know how annoying that is. |
I'm not supposed to be weighing this frequently, but I am down to 158.4! Super excited. Only a little over a pound after a week, but I am starting to think 1 lb/week should be my goal. It seems to happen naturally without having to be super strict 100% of the time, and it works for me!
|
Quote:
Congratulations! That's great news. :) I think 1 lb a week is a good goal, also. Sorry I've been MIA- the Easter holiday was a busy one for me. And frankly I went off the rails on my diet, also, and I'm up 3 lbs. :( I've got a big hike scheduled for tonight, hope to burn a bunch of calories and I'm back on the wagon with my diet. No more sweets! Hope everyone else is doing well! |
Hi, Eagle: You'll be back down in no time! How was your hike?
I am down another pound at 157.4! Not sure how that happened, but I will take it. I think I am going to stop weighing until Sunday now. I feel like I am now firmly in the 150s, and I don't want to see all the fluctuations! |
The hike was great, thanks! Fitbit says I got in 16K steps, and 160 flights of stairs (equivalent). :) Took about 1-1/2 hours going up, half hour down.
It does sound like you are firmly in the 150's! Yay! I hope you have a great day! |
Britt that's awesome!! That's got to be such a good feeling. EagleRiverDee, that hike sounds like fun. I can't wait to get hiking in our area this summer, once mid-May comes and things slow down for me.
Well, I leave on vacation tomorrow and today's reading is 151.2, so pretty happy there. I'm super wary though after this plateau of it jumping up again, but it does really seem to be on a consistent down trend for the last few days. Whew! I'm debating whether to take the scale with me on vacation... it seems like overkill, but we're going to be gone for a week and a half and I can do a lot of damage with all those grandma-cooked meals in 10 days if I'm not keeping track! And I wouldn't weigh every day, but two or three times. If I hit 150 even the day after we get back, I'll be officially on track for 1/3 of the year, and I'd really like that. That weekly goal is keeping me motivated, so I don't want to lose it. |
I ended up binging for a few days and found myself back at 162 yesterday morning! Got back on track and am back down to 159.8 today. Just made it back in by the skin of my teeth. I think I finally have my eating plan figured out, so I hope to be back to dropping the lbs from now on. I absolutely REFUSE to see the 160s ever again (unless I get pregnant at some point... but who knows?)!
|
How is vacay going, Princess?
Happy Thursday, everyone! |
hi all - I'm back under 160 - hanging out between 158 and 159 which I don't find acceptable! It's so hard to lose weight now...argh! I was 157 on Sunday but that was after a 23 mile bike ride in 80 degree weather :D I really need to get back down around 150 so I can continue on to the 140s...
