<<Getting to 170>>
Since I loved the "getting to 180" thread so much, and many of us have met that goal, I decided to start another. So anyone who wants to share in this mini journey, hop on!
|
I was up to 180 this morning, but I'm going to be good and get my water in today. Hopefully the 7 will come back tomorrow!
|
The lowest I have gotten this round is 180.0, so right this minute I'm still itching to get below 180, but I'm hoping that tomorrow, I'll be there (it's be actually over a month I've been popping up and down between 180 and 184, but I just have a feeling). This morning I was at 180.4 Gah!
Anyhow, I guess I've been here long enough that I've already set my sights on 170. A couple of years ago I lost a bunch and the lowest I got to was 173, which I only touched for about a minute before everything went to pot. I'm super excited to get there again, but I'm also a little scared since last time I crashed and burned. But I have figured out a few things this time, so hopefully I will wiz on past it. :carrot: |
We can do this, rubidoux! I'm having a hard time getting into the 170s (only one day so far), but I am determined to get this weight off for good this time!
|
Hi! Can I join in? I am currently stuck at 180, but I am hoping to change up a few things in my diet/exercise routine to try and get a bit further. I would love to join you all in getting to 170, and getting into the 170s at all would make me so happy!
|
Welcome, EskaDee! I'm sure you'll be in the 170s in no time!
I was back in the 170s today (179.2), and I'm really hoping to not bounce back up! I am going to walk at least 4-5 times a week all through April and do my kettle bells. If I'm super diligent, maybe I'll be at 170 before Mother's Day. |
I'm in too! I'm hoping to be under 170 by Mother's Day :)
I was 177 last Monday but I think I might have a gain tomorrow :( it's that TOM and I'm always quite a bit heavier that week. |
Argh, I was actually up 2 pounds today!! I'm really hoping its mostly the salt from all the ham I ate. I guess I'll have to see what tomorrow brings!
|
Thanks for starting this Jennifer!!! I def loved the 180s thread!
I was at 179 this morning but I'm sure I'm going to be 180 by tomorrow. I bought so much easter clearance food for my mom and I ate a good portion and now I feel sick, you think I would learn lol Anyway, let's do this!!! |
You are all so inspiring. I can't wait to get out of the 180s. Hitting 170 seems like so far away although I know it can happen in 2-5 weeks depending how fast the weight continues to come off. I clearly remember my heart sinking as the scale climbed over the past few years, I am excited to see the number going down now. I haven't worn my wedding ring in quite some time, so hopefully my fat little fingers will start to slim down too.
|
I went from 177.2 to 177 even yesterday. I'm not surprised since it's that TOM but it still sucks. I would love to see 175 next Monday!
|
I was at 179.8 this morning. Still not where I was Saturday, but at least down 1.2 from yesterday! I have to be more vigilant in what goes in my mouth. Evenings kill me!
|
178 today!!!!!
Btw any of you check your weight on multiple scales?? I have a scale but I almost feel like I need another one to back up my weight so I'm not overly excited for no reason. I think it's also bc i am not noticing the weight loss yet which is pretty frustrating for me. Does anyone else have this issue? Literally all my pants and shirts fit snug like they did when I was at 200. I mean I'm thankful the scale is going down but I'd love to actually see it! |
Yay, hhm6! I only have one scale, which is probably enough of an obsession for me! I do move it around and weigh 3-4 times a morning though :)
I'm at 179.6 this am. I cannot seem to get below 179, so I'm going to be super careful about my eating this week. I'm also (sad face) going to seriously limit my alcohol intake. It's not that I drink a ton, but 1-2 every other day or so adds up to a lot of empty calories. DH and I are also walking 3.5-4.5 miles about 5 times a week. I really want to be in the 160s by DD's graduation party on May 19! |
Hi - mind if I join in?
My weigh in today was 181.6, so I'm looking to get into the 170s in the next two weeks. I'm not rushing it at all, as I tried to before and it backfired on me - I lost motivated and gained like 20 pounds, lol. So, slow ans steady will work for me. I weigh myself once a week, usually Friday or over the weekend. I use the scale to measure the amount of work I did for myself over the week. This is my second week, and I've been losing 1-2 pounds each week. Hopefully, I can keep it up! |
Welcome, coffee shopgirl! Hopefully we can all make it down to 170 together!

We'll get there! |
I was at 179.2 this morning. Too much wine last night. Maybe if I can stay OP today I'll see a 178 tomorrow! Problem is today is my anniversary and we are grilling steaks!

I was at 178.4 this morning, a new low (this time around). :carrot: I'm looking forward to when I get below 173, so I can leave off the "this time around" and get into all together new territory. I didn't work out today bc I woke up w a terrible sore throat. Now I'm feeling quite a bit better, so I hope that holds and I can exercise tomorrow. And I hope it doesn't cause me to pop back up to 179 tomorrow. I'm so sick of 179! lol I wasn't there for all that long but I was at 180 for weeks. |

Happy Anniversary jennifer!! Ahh I hope you do too!! I think I'll be lucky if I'm 178 tomorrow!! I ate so much at my aunt's house yesterday and I still feel full blehh but OMG I fit into my size 12 express jeans again!!!! I never saw my weight loss (physically) until then but I'm so excited!! Although really weird bc my old navy size 16s fit just fine, but oh well. Hope everyone had a good weekend! :) |
I was at 178.8 this am! Hopefully the 8 will stick! I was 179._ for ever! I can't believe how close so many of our weights are. We can reach 170 together!
Hhm6: congrats on the size 12s!! Woohoo! I have yet to try mine on--maybe next week! Rubidoux: Way to go on the loss! It feels great to be out of the 179 range! Steaks on the grill at home are amazing! We only do that once every few months, but boy my strip was melt-in-your-mouth yummy! Have a great week, all! |
Ooooh, I'm happy you got out of 179! Woot! I was back up there today. lol 179.6! So irritating, but I know it happens that way a lot and I have to just hold on for a couple of days until it sticks.
Now I want a steak! |
I was at 178.2 this morning--the farther I get from 179 the better! Hopefully the scale will keep moving down!
|
Hey all! Cain join in too??? I was 179.6 last week and really hoping not to pop back up into the 180s but ended up 178.0 at my weigh in this morning :)
The last time I felt fairly healthy was after working a highly active job and that was 170. Also I'm excited to see 174 - it marks both my halfway point and when my BMI is no longer obese. I have a big conference to go to mid may and would really like to at least be 174 by then. |
Gah! 179.4 today. I think I'll be back down tomorrow. It has been forever since I've gone down several days in a row. Seems like lately I've been going down-up-down-up a lot before going down to a new lower weight.
|
Dehtripper: Welcome! I want to hit that 174 no longer obese BMI too!!
Rubidoux: My weight is doing the exact same thing. It's driving me crazy! Who knows what I'll weigh tomorrow! |
Random question (don't want to derail this thread or anything but haven't had any response on my last thread!)
Do you guys do weights? squats or anything? I am beginning to see a shape on me (a waist in particular lol) and was advised to do squats but i dont want my arms to stay the same while im toning down my lower half, any suggestions?? I dont want to go back to the apple shape I had when I was bigger if I can avoid that! Thanks guys! |
Hey guys, I'd like to join this group. I normally don't click on the 'weigh loss support' group, but there is some awesome stuff here!!
I hit 179.8 about 2 weeks ago, and I was super excited, as it was a decade I have never seen. After that my weight loss really slowed down, I hit 179.3 at one point it didn't stick. Then last weekend I went out of town with some friends. It meant we drank the whole weekend and ate at "Western" restaurants that we don't have in our tiny town. That all meant my Monday weigh in was 181.3. I was soooo disappointed, I was hoping to never see that decade again. I stayed away from message boards because I was embarrassed. As of today, I'm technically back in the 170s, my scale is metric so I was 81.8 kg which is 179.96 pounds!!! At this point, I'm just looking forward to getting below my low of 179.3, but 170 seems even better. |
Hhm6: I am not doing much but walking, but I bought kettle bells and pinned a squat workout! (Now I just have to start!). If you're worried about upper body, I'd use light hand weights while you squat!
Changegirl: Welcome! I'm glad you're back in the 170s! We will all get to 170. I love support of these boards. I was at 177.8 today, so I think I'm over the mini-plateau I hit at 179! (At least till TOM next week!) |
Woohoo Jennifer! You're doing great!
My weight loss has slowed down majorly these past few weeks, I can never lose more than a pound a week. I'm being really good this week so I hope I'll see a solid two pound loss on Monday. I was 176.4 last Monday. hhm6: I really want to strength train but I don't have access to a gym or home equipment. I started running (with the Couch 2 5k program) and a friend sent me a strength training program for runners which uses only your own body weight. I haven't started yet. I also downloaded an app called Sworkit and it can create a workout for you, using the equipment you have (none in my case) and focusing on the body part(s) you want. |
hhm6: No, I'm not doing any weights currently. I've been doing mostly cardio-ish stuff lately (running, skating etc). I'd kinda like to get into it though. I've not yet done the whole program but like 30 day shred for the "completeness" of how many areas you work on (and it really not all that hard).
|
Omg, you guys, 179.8 today. Gah! Well, I thank my lucky stars that I didn't hit 180. That woulda really pissed me off. lol I am much more easily going with the flow on this than I used to, though. I used to get really frustrated and face plant in the carbs when the scale wasn't going where I wanted it to, but now I'm feeling pretty willing to wait and see what happens. At least I know that running out and eating a bunch of cake didn't get me anywhere.
I think this is either bc I have just recently started exercising (like six weeks ago, but today my legs are feeling a little sore, so maybe retaining some water there) or bc I am kinda sick with a sore throat (which I do not think is being helped by the exercise). At any rate, it is not because I am getting fatter. Really! :o |
You guys are awesome :) Thanks for the tips! I'll def start looking into the suggestions! I only have 5lb dumb bells so it's not much to work with but I'll look into the "non-weight" strength training stuff!
Still 178 today!! Scale needs to move asap!!! I'm tired of seeing 178!! |
Hey all! Excited to see this thread, because I hit 177.5 today. Wooo! I've been bouncing between 181 and 179 for almost a week, so this drop was a relief. I am hoping to hit 169 by the second week of May... Please please please lol, so I can be in the 160s for my bridal shower :)
Hhm6: I do some lifting, including lunges and body squats. If you want to include your upper body, do a shoulder press while you squat (thank you Jillian Michaels), or a bicep curl while you lunge. Saves some serious time! And if you don't have access to a gym or weights, grab some cans from the pantry... Some resistance is better than none! |
Omg, you guys! Shoot me now! :o I was 179.4 this morning, which is beyond irritating. Gah! I just looked it up at fatsecret, and exactly a month ago I weighed 181.6 That's 2.2 pounds! And you would not believe what I am doing to lose weight at that glacial pace -- 1100-1200 calories a day, 20 hours of which is fasting, under 15 g carb, under 65 g protein, and exercising my butt off. This is so crazy!
Because I need to rationalize this somehow... I am going to assume that starting exercise is what's tripping me up. I was losing slowly, but not nearly this slowly before I started exercising about six weeks ago. I am assuming that as my body gets more acclimated to it, I will be able to lose again. I am not exercising for the sake of weight loss, as I know that it has always been counterproductive for me. I am keeping it up bc of the health benefits, as I am pretty sure I'll be better off fat and fit than thinner and out of breath. But still... Gah! |
teehee, just peaking in...183.1 still. I am on my way!!! You guys are so inspirational!!
|
Northern chick: you will be joining us soon!
Rubidoux: I totally understand your frustration. I was back to 178 this morning. Glacial speed describes it exactly, |
rubidoux- I definitely feel you. Sometimes looking back to see how much weight you've lost is awesome, but it sucks when you've started slowing down to glacial speed. The last 3 weeks, I've lost 1.1 pounds. Pretty crappy. However the 4 months prior were pretty good so it means overall I've still lost more than 30 pounds, it looks like you've lost over 35 which is amazing. Sometimes it helps to go back to the beginning for perspective.
As for me after 3 weeks of seeing 179 or more, I finally saw 178, 178.4! I'm just hoping it sticks around. |
Yay, Changergirl! I was up .2 this am to 178.2, but I have a full social weekend planned, so I'm not surprised! I am also dreading TOM weight, which is quickly approaching!
|

But apparently I had a little whoosh! 177.2! :carrot: Which is more than a pound below my recent low of 178.4. Go figure. Now I feel not fat again, lol. I need to not let what the scale says affect how I'm feeling. Often, I don't and am able to see it in context, but sometimes it does get to me. I'm happy you got down past 179 finally and I hope you keep going in the next few days. Often when I sit still for a while, I will then have a big sudden drop or lose between .5 and 1 pound a day for several days running. Quote:
