174.2 this morning. I gained 0.2 lbs. :( I'm so tired of gaining and losing the same pound, I haven't had a good loss in weeks. I'm not happy.

Ugh same here Angelic!! I'm still at 175 and I'm so annoyed! I have been really increasing my workouts and eating better but nothing seems to work. Oh well I guess I should be thankful for not being higher but am I asking for too much here?! lol just one measly lb pleaaaase!! I really feel like I've hit a plateau! blehh ok rant over, hope you ladies are having a good Monday! |
So I've been doing Shaun T's Insanity workout program and trying to follow his suggested diet program. I have been using his calorie suggestion, but trying to eat the 5 meals has been tough. I'm almost 2 weeks in and while I love that I feel my shape is getting better, my weightloss has sloooowed. I'm considering dropping my calories back down. He suggest kinda high calorie allotment because he says you need to fuel the workouts. I want energy for the exercise, but I'd like to get to where I can lose 2 lbs a week instead 1/2 lb to 1.
Would you all stick the eating program out for the whole 90 days? Or would you get back to your own eating thing and just do the prescribed workouts? |
Hey AngelicFruitcake and Suds- sorry you are feeling frustrated! Just stay on plan and your body will catch up!
WananBeFitnessBuff- I'd say eat whatever is sustainable for you. I think workout dvds include a meal plan because so many of us were clueless as to nutrition before beginning our journeys, and we all know working out alone wont cause weight loss if the eating habits dont change! Ultimately, I try to ask "can I do this in real life for a long term?" and if the answer is no, I modify it so I can :) In regards to the calorie allotment, as long as you don't go below 1200 AFTER exercise, do what you want! I eat 1500 and burn 300 daily personally. Lastly, 174.9 today! That's a 35 lb loss! YES YES YES!!!! 5 more lbs till halfway and I get a reward today!!! |
I only officially weigh myself on Mondays but I unofficially weigh in almost every day, it just doesn't "count" unless it's Monday. Anyways, I was 173.2 this morning! That's a whole pound down from yesterday! I hope it stays that way (of goes lower) when I officially weigh in next week!
|
Back at 174 today!!! yayy! If I can see 172 this week that would be amazing! I was so tired yesterday I didn't get a chance to do 30ds but hopefully I will today!!
Yayy angelic! That's awesome and Northernchick you are doing amazing!! :carrot: |
I'm back up to 173 today. Really hoping to be back down tomorrow. I have to get my butt in gear:)
|
Hmmmmm I don't know what the cause for it but it appears I got a super whoosh week - 167.4 this morning. :?::dizzy: Since I only weigh once a week I'm sure if its a fluke catch so I don't want to leave this support group yet. Plus I'm away at a conference next week which could easily bump me back either way.
|
dehtripper: Woohoo on the super whoosh! A fluke or not, that is fantastic! Even if it goes back up a little, you know you'll get back there soon.
I was at 172.6 this morning, which is where I was 5 days ago. I am going to try to flush my system by drinking loads of water and see if I can get back to where I was 2 days ago! |
Woohooo whoosh is totally how I feel :) Its really encouraging to keep strength training.
Sorry you're back 5 days - hope upping the water helps flush er out and get that scale moving! |
Official weigh in day today. When I stepped on my scale the numbers read 173.8. I KNEW that couldn't be right. I placed the scale in a different spot and got 175.2 several times over. I figure the 173 came up due to uneven floors (the perks to old homes in the city!). Down a full 2 pounds this week!!! So excited! I am however very aware that my sister is coming to visit me for three days beginning Sunday. I know there will be some indulging. I need to keep focused and remember moderation.
Also, I've decided to join a local gym. I had been putting it off for a while, but I'm finally going to bite the bullet. It's only 20 a month and no cancellation fees. Bonus: I have to walk four blocks to get there...extra steps!! Hope everyone is doing well. dehtripper: SUPER WOOOOSH! those are the best! congrats! |
Sweet!!! 2lbs is great! And you're now officially closer to 160 that 180 :) Also - that sounds like a great deal for a gym. Hope you like it.
Today was also our lab's end of semester celebratory dinner. I ate some sweet potato fries, which were the first really fried food I've had since January and maaaaannnn oh man am I paying for it. My stomach does NOT approve of grease anymore. All the more reason not to get eat fried regularly. |
Haha I hear you dehtripper! This week has been "bacongate" for me! I bought some bacon wrapped steaks and I find I am taking it off!
I saw 175.1 this morning- still loving it! And Suds, amazing!!! We are all getting so close to the 160's! AHHHH!!!! |
I finally saw 173 today!!!! what a humbling experience haha I never thought I'd reach it at the slow pace I was at!!! Hoping this number sticks around or goes lower tomorrow so I can change my ticker!!
dehtripper: omg talk about a whoosh!!!! we're gonna have to have a new 160s thread soon! On the topic of whooshes (<--is that even a word?), when do you guys normally get them?? I feel like I never have a real "whoosh" but just lose the weight a lb at a time after weeks. I would love to just drop 3lbs in a week haha |

I was back to 171.8 this morning, which I believe was what I got down to after my puke-fest. But this time I did it without being sick. Yay! :carrot: I am desperate now to see 169. I feel like I'm so close, but ime, it can be a day or two to lose 2 pounds or three weeks. Gah! At any rate, I'm happy to be here for now. :D ETA: Oooooooh, I just changed my ticker and it looks like I have passed the half way point!!! |
173 again today!!! ticker is getting changed!! yayyy!!
|
Congrats on the ticker changes, guys! YES! I love the decimals! I didn't know it could do that! lol gonna go fiddle around now

I was down to 171.0 this morning! :carrot: .2 pounds below my lowest, but every bit counts and I'm thrilled. :D I did have a small, small, I swear it was small cheat today... so I'm hoping that won't screw me up bc I'd really, really like to see 169 soon, even 170.0 would feel like I had gotten over a hurdle, I think. Anyway, I had about 1.5 cups of that naked popcorn (I think it's got nothing but salt, popped in coconut oil). I don't think it's terrible, but I'm sure it doubled my normal daily carbs. But I am going to stay strong the rest of the night bc I am so done with the 170's! ETA: Woo hoo, you guys! I just looked at my weight log and I have lost 8 pounds between april 12 and may 10! That's great for me bc I have had 3 and 4 pound months. |
Fantastic rubidoux! I was up to 172.6 this am. I'm afraid I may be hp having a bad month! I'm exercising, but not eating as well as I should be. Too many parties.

Is it just me, or are 170s just a drag?! I feel like this weight has been super hard to get off! (compared to the 180s-190s at least!) Quote:
We are all pretty close to getting out of the 170s!! |
I was down a little today to 172.4. I am going to be super vigilant today and tomorrow so I can hopefully be down for my "official" Monday weigh in.
We are getting super close, and we can do this!! Let's see 16_._ on the scale soon. I am thoroughly sick of the 170s!! |
I was down too, guys! 172.7 this morning! WOO!! I did have a ridiculous amount of chocolate yesterday, but I was still in calorie range. This week I've been bad with eating crap and jsut watching calories, so I am going to watch my nutrition as well as calories this week. TOM is Tuesday though...lol it's gonna screw with my mind! But, I saw 172.7 so it exists!! WOO!!!! Many of us will move on together, it looks like! I love our momentum!
|
I'm on my 11th day weighing between 172-173. I am getting super frustrated. Any ideas on how to get off this dang plateau?
|
Hey Jennifer, maybe adjust your calories? Jillian says towards the end to only have a 500 a day deficit. I am still keeping mine low though, at 1200 a day, AFTER exercise calories. Calorie fiddling is what always helps me. Sorry you are frustrated!! You will blast through this!
Also, have measurements changed?? |

Yesterday I was 170.2! :carrot: Then I did a 40+ hour fast (not really broken yet except I had some heavy whipping cream in my iced coffee a couple of hours ago), but this morning I was at 167.2!!! Woo hoo! But I know that I am quite likely to be in the 169 or 170 range tomorrow. The weight I lose from fasting usually doesn't stick. But I think it's possible I will be very close or there tomorrow! Ack! |
NorthernChick: I will play with my calories this week! Thanks.
Rubidoux: congrats!! It's time for a new thread for you! I'm really hoping I get a whoosh like you do after a plateau, and I'll be right behind you!! |

171.6 today! I cannot wait to get out of the 170's!
|
You guys are doing so great!!!
Rubidoux-wow you saw the 160s!!! go you!! I didn't check my weight today bc I was scared! Went bar hopping for a friends bday last night and was very good with alcohol but bad with food :( Hoping I don't have to pay for it tomorrow! |
I ate food that I do not normally touch yesterday (mac 'n cheese, meatloaf and the like) and somehow I was at 171.6 this morning. I'm really hoping I do not go back to the 172._ I've been stuck on!
|
You all are awesome!! My sister is here so I'm trying not to be a debbie downer with the strict diet. I went a little over my WW points but never use my extra weekly points so I'm feeling like it wasn't total sabotage. We're walking 2+ miles to a museum downtown so we'll get a few calories burned there.
You all are such an inspiration...keep going!! |
Congrats everyone! You're all doing so great!
I've been on a plateau for the past month and it's been really difficult. I'm not giving up but it's hard to stay motivated when the scale doesn't move much. I was 173.6 this morning, so I lost 0.6 but I hope I can lose a solid 2lbs sometime soon or I'm going to go nuts. |
172 today!!!!
I hope it's not a fluke!!! I'm going to drink my weight in water today (I don't know why but I'm insanely thirsty!) It's getting so hot in so cal working out just feels like torture! I hope these last 2 lbs come off!! yAY Angelic and Jennifer!! any little bit counts! Suds-I totally know what you mean, when I have visitors I feel like I'm bound to eat a bit more, but good for you to get that exercise in! We can do it guys!!! |

The whole thing is so bizarre bc I was a major overeater before I started this and one of the things I like most about it is that it's just nice to feel so in control of what I'm eating. I would NEVER have thought I could successfully go for a couple of days without eating. I am a little surprised that my weightloss is sticking, though. :carrot: I really thought I'd see a big bounce up this morning, but I was, in fact, another half pound down. :carrot: I am still bracing myself for tomorrow's weigh in. But I cannot believe that I've seen 166.6!!! I haven't been here since my nine year old was a baby, and I think I only got to 165 or so and then started my trip back up. I am feeling kinda skinny. :D ETA: Part of the deal w the lowcarb part, and why I think it's important and makes the whole process easier, is that ketosis can really quash your appetite. I'm doing something called nutritional ketosis, which is a deeper ketosis than atkins, and I swear I never feel the kind of hunger that I did when I ate carbs. If I am hungry I can look at the situation almost as an outsider would, and logically make a decision -- do I need to be fed? what would be good for me to eat now? etc... can all be answered like I'm trying to feel my child a healthy meal without some tug of "I want, I want, I want" screaming at me. When I first made the jump to not eating until 2pm-ish, it was only bc I just was not hungry. |
Wow rubidoux! You've given me a lot of info to think about there! I am actually on a low card diet right now! I'm doing the Dukan diet(which is low carb) my only carbs come from oat bran and flaxseed which I have in the morning.
So what about when you workout? Do you ever feel really sleepy or tired without eating? I imagine I would feel that way but granted I have never tried! So you actually would consume wayy less then right for your daily intake? I actually don't calorie count at all on my diet but if I eat a little later than usual it really bugs me! even if it isn't carbs, just protein+veggies. I really want to try it though! esp since my weight has been MUCH slower in the 170s it just feels like a drag! Also, last question is this something you would do long term or just right now to lose the weight?? Thanks rubidoux!! sorry I know I'm bombarding you with questions!! |

I actually feel much more energetic during the day when I eat this way. I think IF'ing is part of it but being in ketosis is huge. Do you know if you're in ketosis? Or how many grams of carbs/protein/fat you're eating in a day? Generally speaking, the lower your carbs (probably want to be under 20) and higher your fat is, the more likely you are to be in ketosis. A lot of people can eat however much protein they like and be ketotic, but some people need to limit their protein. Also, it takes most people around six weeks to get into a real deep ketosis. If you do something like atkins, and probably dukan, you should go into ketosis in the first week or so, but then later you get another notch deeper. When that happens to me I get this huge surge of energy. So much so that it has been embarrassing at times. I talk to much. It's a great state for exercising, too! One thing that might work for you is to have an all fat or fat/protein breakfast. A lot of people do bullet proof coffee, which I don't find terribly appealing (coffee, butter, coconut oil). I like just coffee w HWC. But you could do a couple of pieces of cheese or several slices of bacon. (On another forum I read a post by a woman who said that bacon was her magic meat and that she had lost 70 pounds eating all the bacon she wanted. So, I went with it! Lost a ton of weight, but bacon is not even a little appealing to me anymore. lol) The thing about fat is that it will really satisfy you and you go hours without needing to eat again if you have a sufficient amount. When I used to have a 2 pm meal, it was between 4 and 6 slices of bacon, however much I felt like that day, but somehow after you've had 6 slices of bacon, you just don't need more. Anyway if you start with this fat meal in the morning, and I'd maybe push it later than your norm by as much as you can stand, maybe an hour, then you may not want to eat again until pretty late in the day. And if you really start seeing what fat is doing for you, you may want to add in more elsewhere and everything will be all different and change around and you will forget when you were supposed to have b'fast lunch and dinner. lol The appetite suppression is really intense. Like, there was a period for me of several weeks when just the thought of eating made me feel kinda nauseous. It sounds kind of awful, I know, but it's actually very liberating. And if you understand that you're feeling nauseous bc your body is burning a ton of fat, somehow that seems just fine. And, btw, I actually don't eat all that much fat these days. It's a large portion of my daily calories, but bc I tend to eat around 1100 cals or less, it's not actually all that much fat. Most days I'll eat about 3 T HWC, 1 whole avocado, 2 salmon patties, and 1 ounce of cheese or 1 ounce of almonds. Lately I've been adding a little wedge of dark chocolate to that, too. But when you're getting started, I think its good to eat a lot of fat bc it really pushes you further into ketosis. I actually think I'd like to be doing a lot of this long term. I may add in some veggies, salads here and there, if I can get away with it. And maybe a longer fast here and there will balance that out and keep my weight stable. I'm not sure how it'll work, but I am very committed to once a day eating and I can definitely imagine incorporating longer fasts into it even after I'm done losing. It's supposed to be really great for your health and longevity and it's definitely great for my blood sugar. ETA: It's been a long time since I read about this stuff online, so I'm not sure where to send you, but if you google "bullet proof coffee" and "intermittent fasting nutritional ketosis" I think you'll find a lot of good stuff. |
I'm thinking that i should change my official weigh-in day from Mondays to Tuesdays. For the second week in a row, I weigh a whole pound less on Tuesday than I did on Monday. I was 172.6 this morning, and that was after breakfast!
|
Thanks for shedding light on the IFing, Rubidoux! And Angelic Fruitcake, that;s awesome! Tuesdays it is!!
TOM for me now, so 174.5 this morning....but i am not listening! lalalala!!!! |
I am still at 171.6 today. So glad it did not go back up to 172._! Maybe it will go down more tomorrow if I have a good evening.
