I am down almost two pounds from yesterday. lol But that is bc I had a big pukefest, which sucked. I can't lie, when I realized I was going to be sick my first thought was that it might be good for the waistline. But I won't be surprised to see a bump up tomorrow. I was 171.8. I'm gonna wait and see what happens tomorrow before I change my ticker. I am not keen on moving it back up. lol

OMG 171.8!!! what a great number to see on the scale! Btw are you guys using digital scales? I need to get one! I don't see the skinny yet!! I can feel it, but I would LOVE to see it lol, I'm being very vain about this!

Hahaha I lol'ed when I read the waistline comment, my thoughts exactly! I hope you're feeling better! Regardless though, you're going to be in the 160s before you know it, you're so close!!

faunaflora 04-26-2013 07:38 AM

been stuck at 174 for a week and a half, though it is likely due to ToM approaching. still, ugh... and i want to eat everything and not exercise!

NorthernChick13 04-26-2013 10:11 AM

179.9 this morning....ugh still waaaay to close for comfort!

PaintedPonies 04-26-2013 10:15 AM

177.7 as of this morning.

I cannot wait to get down to 170.

I need to think of a reward for myself. A new dress? a tattoo? a special dinner? hmmm

Jennifer1966 04-26-2013 12:25 PM

Great job! rubidoux and hhm6!

Everyone is doing great on this challenge!! i was back up to 174 this am after hitting 173.4 yesterday, but that is my stupid pattern! I lose a pound and the next day or two, go straight back up. I'm really hoping to see 173 (or lower) over the weekend. I must stay away from large quantities of alcohol:)

rubidoux 04-26-2013 12:31 PM

I'm back up, too. 173.6! Gah! Frustrating bc I had a very clean day yesterday, but I kinda knew it was gonna happen that way bc the 171.8 was probably partly about dehydration and just being pretty empty. Sigh... Anyhow, I feel like now that I saw 171 for a minute I have renewed motivation. I'm planning on a great workout and some more clean eating today. :carrot:

Fight the good fight, ladies! :D

^this is totally me! The days I cheat you would think I would exercise to make up but no I *also* refuse to exercise lol

I'm still at 174.5 today, hoping the weekend doesn't bring me up to 175! The weekends absolutely ruin me!

Jennifer, if you dont mind me asking, do you drink wine or beer?? I have a couple weekend events planned and although I'm not much of a drinker I do plan on having some here and there, what would say is good to stay away from? like those fruity drinks?? I haven't developed the taste for alcohol (weird saying this is my 20s!) but I want to be able to enjoy a wine now and then!

Ahhh I really hope I'm close to 170 come May!! Good luck ladies!! Even with these minor setbacks here and there we're doing great!! :)

I can't wait to see 171 on the scale!! Btw if you guys are thinking of rewarding yourselves but don't want to spend a fortune, if you have a smartphone there is a app called shopkick where you get pts for checking into stores and you can redeem them for giftcards!

I'm almost at $10 for sephora so when I'm 170 I'm totally going to see if I buy something with it! (I know $10 at sephora is not so much, but it's something!)

Jennifer1966 04-26-2013 05:30 PM

Hhm: Thanks for the app tip. I'll definitely check it out! I actually drink wine and beer depending on my mood, location, etc. there are some pretty decent light beers. I like Yuengling Light for 99 calories. I also will drink vodka occasionally mixed with diet soda. I try to avoid fruity drinks-- too many calories!

Sweet! Thanks for the tips! That 99 calorie one sounds awesome!! I was thinking the same about the fruity drinks, but they do look so pretty! I would love one just to take a pic with it, they're so fancy! hahaha and I'm so lame...

You should def check it out! My cousin collected points for a year without redeeming and at the end of the year had $200 in macys gcs! I think it's perfect for those losing weight when we have to buy new clothes! I love the app!

Psychic 04-27-2013 08:28 AM

Still at 178.2 for me. I'm going to buckle down and work hard this week. I may do a weekend liquid fast soon as well.

rubidoux 04-27-2013 04:26 PM

I was at 173.6 again. I'm kinda okay with that, but I woke up with my blood sugar at 35, which is pretty freaking low, like out-of-control-feeling-low, and I ate 3 large bowls of gorilla munch (I'm guessing they were 2-3 servings each :( ). Needless to say, I feel gross now. And I'm worried about what this is going to do for my next few weigh-ins. Usually a big carb-fest like that takes about three days to recover from. :( It happened mostly bc I did a big workout for me (4.25 miles at my fastest walking pace ever! lol) yesterday, and working out has been my single biggest obstacle to losing weight. It's so frustrating bc I know it is very healthy for me, but I also know I'd be at least ten or fifteen pounds lower now if I weren't exercising. Sigh... Anyway, I'm just hoping that I don't bounce up to like 177 tomorrow. Usually it's like four pounds when this happens. :(

NorthernChick13 04-27-2013 06:47 PM

YES! 177.5 today everyone! I finally pushed through!!

Tuscany 04-27-2013 08:26 PM

I've been bouncing between 179 and 181 for over a week now, but today I made it down to 178. I hope it sticks and I can say goodbye to the 180's!

StepanieGilmore 04-28-2013 12:29 AM

went down 2.4 pounds

Jennifer1966 04-28-2013 02:59 PM

Great job, NorthernChick and Tuscany!

I was at 172.8 this morning, but I know that it won't stick. I was dehydrated from drinking too much last night. DH's band played out, and You would think I'd be old enough not to do stuff like that, but we were having such a great time that I didn't pay attention to how much I was drinking.

hhm6 04-28-2013 09:52 PM

Yayy NorthernChick, Tuscany, and Stephanie!!!

Rubidoux- Hope you're feeling better! What did you mean 10-15 lbs lower when you don't exercise? Do you not eat as much when you dont work out? It's been getting really hot lately in Socal and I almost feel like cutting my cals so i dont have to run or go outside in the heat! it makes me overly exhausted!

Jennifer-I think weekends are hard!! I ate so much ice cream this week I just know I'm going to be paying for it this week! UGH! I was also 175 this morning.....and I thought the 180s weren't forgiving!

Anyway, hope you guys enjoy the rest of the weekend! :)

rubidoux 04-29-2013 01:36 AM

Thanks, hhm!

I started exercising about six weeks ago and when I exercise it is much much harder to avoid insulin reactions. When I have an insulin reaction, I *need* to eat something sweet and sweets are really my downfall. I have been trying to always have skittles bc they aren't as likely to set me off as real food. But yesterday when I woke up w that 35, I had the cereal as I mentioned, but then I just could not stop. :( I don't think I ate a TON of food. Like, it wasn't a classic binge situation. But I just kinda grazed on crap food all day, which I never would have done with out that low. And the low would not have happened if I hadn't been exercising.

So, I guess my feeling about exercise and weight loss are not really applicable to anyone here but me... BUT there is a serious and reasonable school of thought that exercise has a negative effect on weight loss, and I think it's right. On average, people do tend to eat more when they're exercising. One way I see this is that on those days that I have a low and get pushed off the wagon, if I've been exercising hard, it's much harder for me to get back on track. I just don't have the energy. Sometimes I can tell it is my energy and enthusiasm that keeps me on track (or gets me back on), but I don't have that if I'm exhausted from exercising.

I gotta say I have been love, love, loving this warmer weather for walking! I am worried, though, that it's gonna be too warm soon.

So... I was at 176.4 this morning. Three pounds up. That's actually not as bad as usual, but I think sometimes I don't see a rise on the next morning but on the second morning, so I'm a little scared. lol I'd really like to see these extra pounds gone, but I'm feeling solidly on plan, so I know I'll get there...

Ohhh ok that makes sense!! Can you eat something like fruit? I know it's just as sugary but maybe if it's something you won't crave you'll eat less?

Btw you're doing awesome with all that walking! I just did some walking today and I was out of breath within 5 min (seriously I probably walked 40 ft-ridiculous!) of walking uphill. I think my body got used to the elliptical since I dont feel as tired or "worked" when I'm on it anymore.

Oh yes, I remember days in high school when I would run I would eat a TON when I got home but still wouldn't gain the weight I do if I did the same thing.

I hope I lose 1 lb this week, just one!!!! I'm expecting to be up a little bit tomorrow though..keeping my fingers crossed.

Oh and one other thing I wanted to ask you all, I've noticed if I allow myself 1500 cals for a day but eat clean I can usually see a small drop in the next few days but when I cheat and eat a donut or something (still within my range of 1500) I'm up on the scale again!! I mean is there that much sodium in a donut??? I can only contribute it to water but is there something else I'm missing??

Yikes sorry for that loaded question! been meaning to ask this for a few days and kept forgetting.

Thanks guys!

Angelic Fruitcake 04-29-2013 08:33 AM

I've been feeling so down all last week because of the weight gain but I tried to eat really really well all week. This morning I was 174, so down one pound. I'll take it! I've now lost 10% of my body weight, good riddance! Now I need to keep working hard so I can get to the 160s in May!

dehtripper 04-29-2013 09:06 AM

Congrats Angelic!!! 10% is a big deal!

I over did some celebrating this weekend. A little more red wine and dip than I meant to have but it was totally worth it. I haven't really indulged in almost 4 months so I really enjoyed it and 100% do not feel bad. Just one night I've gotten right back on track. I may not loose this week but I'm alright with it :)

Angelic Fruitcake 04-29-2013 09:28 AM

dehtripper: Red wine is always worth it ;) Seriously, I have a couple of glasses a week and I still lose. It's a good thing too because I'd be sad if I had to give it up.

Jennifer1966 04-29-2013 09:39 AM

Everyone seems to be doing great! I am so excited to get out of the 170s--maybe in about 3 weeks?

Angelic; Congrats on 10%!

Dehtripper: I totally understand over-indulging! I did the same Saturday night when DH's band played our, but it was totally worth it! I'm going to try to drink a ton of water this week and flush out my system!

Rubidoux: I kinda agree about the exercise. I just try to walk although I know I need to add just a little strength training. I do not like to do strenuous exercise though because I overeat!

Hhm: i hear you about the donut! The carbs make me hold onto weight, but it does come off. I try to eat clean-ish, but I like to be able to eat whatever I want as long as it's not a ton of calories.

I was at 173.4 today, which I knew would happen since Sunday's loss was mostly dehydration from the beer. I also carb loaded pretty heavy yesterday and I drank a huge Gatorade! I am right back on the wagon today! DD's high school grad party is May 19, and I will have more than 150 people at my house! I really want to be in the 160s by then!

NorthernChick13 04-29-2013 09:41 AM

176.9, baby! WOOO!!!! Two days left of the 30 Day Shred! I am waaaaiting for an inevitable stall but cheers to it not happening yet! I want to see 170 by the first week of June. Have a great day, everyone!!!

I'm hoping for three weeks too, though I'll need to have some great weeks for it to happen! But I really want to see the 160s! Funny it wasn't that long ago that I was in the 180s wanting to see the 170s but now I can't wait to get out of them!

You're my hero! I never was able to do more than two days of 30 Day shred! I really want to try again someday!

Underwater 04-29-2013 01:17 PM

Made my May 3rd goal early! I'm 174.8 this morning!

allieballiebee 04-29-2013 01:45 PM

Hello, ladies (and gentlemen, of course)!

I weighed in at 179.4 this morning -- just barely in the 170s, but I'll take it. Glad to be joining you guys and I'm looking forward to a week full of healthy choices. :)

NorthernChick13 04-29-2013 07:16 PM

hhm6, sorry for not seeing your question! I wanted to acknowledge you but sorry for not having an answer! My weight fluctuates like crazy. To keep myself sane, I tell myself that once I see a low number, it's still there so long as my calories are in check! Sometimes it's just cloudy!

Man, guys, I've developed a bad habit this week! lol I am within my calorie range but eating CRAP! I just had a lunchable for dinner! lol mmm so good but why?! At least the calories are on track...but I've gotta reign it in!!

Keep 'er going, girls!

No worries girly! :) haha I'm glad I'm not the only one! I wish the crap food would actually start tasting bad lol, I feel like I haven't gotten to that point yet! or if I ever will since there are some things I just refuse to give up!

Btw just jumped on the 30 day shred bandwagon today! and OMG I'm exhausted!! Those 20 mins were intense and much harder than my hr on the treadmill! Seriously my arms hurt as I'm typing this post, but finally took some before pics and hopefully I keep you guys updated on how it goes!

For those of you doing it, is that your only exercise or do you do something else on the side?? I wanted to do some jogging afterwards but I didn't have the energy!

hhm, what is SDN? I am thinking of all the forums I post on and I can't figure it out :P

As far as tips go, my biggest tip is to ask yourself early and often if you are really doing the best you can- before you're slicing into the coffee cake, or going for the chocolate chip cookies at a potluck, or ordering at a restaurant. We'll never be perfect but if you try your best every moment, every meal, every day, you'll do that much better than if you weren't :)

Omg wow, I meant to type 3FC! SDN is medical school forum I'm always reading stuff on, so I must have been in that mode when I typed the message oops! But def meant 3fc!

Awesome advice! I really do need to do that. I sometimes snack on things just to get rid of the urge, and I know that's my biggest downfall with weightloss, but thanks for the tips! I can't wait until I can say I'm 10lbs from goal!

dehtripper 04-30-2013 07:27 AM

Congrats Underwater!

Oh emm gee, I hurt today. My c25k plan yesterday got derailed in a good way yesterday when I got to join a couple friends in their workout. I've never done free weights before by we did some back squats which were fun. Also some agility but I think what I'm feeling most today is the gazillion pushups, straight leg sit-ups and squats we did. Yeeeeouch, but it hurts so good.

I'm currently doing C25K every other day but I'm thinking of doing 30 day shred on the days I'm not running. I could never do 30 day shred in 30 days, I need a break from the evil that is Jillian Michaels (I do love her, really I do).

NorthernChick13 04-30-2013 02:21 PM

Hey guys! I am pumped! I weighed in at 177.9 this morning- a pound up from Sunday, but that's FINE! I am now consistently weighing in under 180 and I love it! I am finishing the 30 Day Shred today and omg...I might have a long-awaited rest day in my future!

Have a wonderful day, everyone!

wannaBfitnessbuff 04-30-2013 02:50 PM

So I was wondering if I can join you peeps a bit early? I am still in the 180's. Weighed 185.0 this morning. But I have been lurking and dreaming about when I am working on getting out of the 170's. That and I cant find any recent 180's threads in this section of the forum. I have to say you are all very motivating to me!

Hahahaha this made me laugh! The whole time I was working out when she says "you can't get a rest in a 20 min workout" all I was thinking was ohh sure just talk and expect everyone to work out!! She's great though!

NorthernChick13 04-30-2013 05:18 PM

Hey hhm6, I have! i lost almost 15 lbs in April and I have lots of definition! I want to post a pic of my abs but I am afraid I'll be deemed the inappropriate teacher! lol still thinking about it!!

I'm kinda slacking on the level one like those sways she does (I literally feel like I'm going to die lol) Omg you should post a pic without your head! I finally took my measurements today so hopefully I see them go down. How about your arms?? Thats the one place I want to see go down!
