Good Morning!!! Today is my weigh in day so here goes> I am down to 159(again)I was there for 1 day a couple of weeks ago. but I'll take it anyway. That is a total of 2 pounds this week and an overall total of 47.5 pounds lost!! YEAH!!

I hope you all have a great day!

peekabooangel 03-01-2003 08:42 AM

Hey Angie, good job starting the new thread!!!
Warning: There seems to be some guy out there Henryguy something posting on every thread about some site to click onto, I did not and will not for fear of what it might cause or be. Just thought I would give the heads up. I went to the first page of forums and saw he was the last to post on tons of pages.

gargoyle2003 03-01-2003 11:01 AM

I'm over here, now.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Thought I'd throw in something from "Make the Connection" (the book Oprah and Bob Greene wrote).

Oprah said:
"I've also learned what Glenda, the good witch, told Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz."

I say everyone should tell themselves the good witch's words every day. They were:

"You always had it. You always had the power."

melekalikimaka 03-01-2003 11:37 AM

I'll get you my pretty, and your little dog too...

That's my 2nd favorite quote from The Wizard of Oz

Thanks for sharing that Gar, I really believe Glenda too.
Sorry to hear about your mailbox, glad to hear the people and the deer were ok. "Wench" makes me think of some medieval servant maid wearing a low-cut too small peasant blouse carrying a cup of grog to a big, hairy, burly man. You know the kind you'd find on a romance novel w/Fabio on the cover?

Angie, good job on the loss! "Look what you've done! I'm melting, melting, ooohhhhhh......." Sorry, Gar got me stuck on thinking about the Wiz of Oz and now all these lines from the movie are spinning around in my head. Yes, it's early and no I haven't had any coffee yet. :dizzy:

Well, I'm still sitting here fooling around while I should be doing the laundry and stuff...so everyone, hope you have an awesome weekend. Have fun and be safe.

MissWashu 03-01-2003 02:23 PM

Way to go Angie!!!!!! Doesn't it feel so good to look back and see how far you've come. :) And Yay for the loss this week. :bravo:

peekaboo - sounds like that was probably the 'porn bot' mentioned in the anouncement at the top of teh forums now.

Gar - how funny, your guy (9mm in hand) sounds just like my roommate. If we're not expecting someone.... he has a baseball bat to answer the door with. I feel bad for anyone that tries to break into our place, RM is paranoid and BF and I both collect knives.
Also the mailbox... not many people are that honest anymore. that's nice that they even cared to stop. And I agree, better the box than the deer. I've seen what a deer can do to car, not pretty.

... one of my neighbors, years ago, hit a cow on the highway and completely totaled her car. She was in the hospital for awhile but was ok. I think that she painted her new car like a spotted cow, we teased her so much. :)

So I got a pair of rollerblades @ the thrift store. I think that I might try them out today. I've only done it once before.... so wish me luck.
later

peekabooangel 03-01-2003 03:36 PM

Way to go Angie!!! Great loss!!! The hard work sure pays off.

"THE WIZARD OF OZ" one of my all time favorite movies in the whole entire world. Yes, I love the classics. I think I'm getting old? Hubby and I were watching MTV special about the top 20 singers that got boycoted and the songs they sang...OMG they were from when I was in High School "1980 something!!!!'LOL Okay, I graduated in 87.

angieME 03-01-2003 03:58 PM

Hi girls! I found out why we had no power all morning. The building downtown that we used to rent and have a bakery front in burned to the ground and knocked out the electricity for my side of town. What a mess. they still have the whole street blocked off. I am sure they will keep it that way until they get it leveled.Sandy, it should be on the news tonight because I saw a crew out there when I headed to Bangor this morning.

I am glad they didn't hit the deer too. My husband has hit a few and it has caused some damage to our cars. We tripped a moose once. Luckily he kept running right over the back of the car and into the woods. Scared me half to death!

That is funny about the gun. I don't blame him nowadays. I found out that Rebel will protect me last night. Jay went out to get a flashlight since the power was out and when he came back into the bedroom with the flashlight on Rebel stood at the foot of the bed and growled at him until he said something. I am a proud mama!!! Imagine the sight of a 15 pound Jack Russell Terrier defending me while 2 40 pound Keeshond snore beside the bed.

peekabooangel 03-01-2003 04:14 PM

:cb: GO REBEL~~~GO REBEL:cb:

What a good doggie taking care of your momma like that!!!!
Hope everyone is having a nice day. It is beutiful here in Maine, but they say tonight and tomorrow will be a different story, then we are in for some cold cold weather again! Seems like we get 2 days of good then 10 days of bad!! Angie, I will check it out tonight on the News if we arnt watching movies already. I got 3 at the video store lastnight and we havnt watched them yet. I got "Sweet Home Alabama" "One hour Photo" & "Trapped" we havnt seen any of them so noone post the endings or anything yet....ty:)

angieME 03-01-2003 05:57 PM

I got Sweet Home Alabama too. I wanted One Hour Photo but it wasn't in. I got My Big Fat Greek Wedding instead. Have fun tonight.

gargoyle2003 03-02-2003 11:45 AM

Angie:
Guess your Keeshonds are the kind of watch dogs that watch and then snooze. <G>

Hubby and I had only been married a few years and had been gone for the day. When we got back, and he went into the house first, he came back out and said, "I think you better go in, Rusty didn't recognize me and he's in the dining room growling this low growl."
Rusty was our Ridgeback, and him growling in a room with tiled floors and stucco walls resonated like far away thunder. Ridgebacks have incredible volume capacity.
As soon as Rusty saw me, everything was back to normal.

While we were gone, he had jumped on the back porch door, and it had come open giving him run of the house. We had to find our cat later in the house who had hidden from Rusty. He wasn't a threat to her...he always wanted to play....but she despised him.
She's such a snob.
Our Classic Silver Tabby(who we didn't have yet when the above incident happened), Zeke, loved Rusty.....they got along great.

I can't remember what part of Maine Stephen King lives in, so I don't know if you're near there.
I always wondered if they did anything in particular to their house or lawn every Halloween.
Imagine ringing King's doorbell and saying "Trick or Treat".....

Do people from Maine really call themselves Mainiacs?
(too funny)
We were told this by someone who had moved down here from Maine, but we weren't sure if they were pulling our legs or not.

Hope your power is back on.

Am I the oldest one here?
May 20, 1953.
OMG...I'm a fossil !!

angieME 03-02-2003 05:29 PM

Stephen King lives in Bangor. I go there every Saturday. We have driven by his house and he has a black iron fence all around his property with iron bats on it. CREEPY. I have never went by on Halloween but I'll have to do that some Halloween.

I don't call myself a Maineiac. But I guess that is what Mainers are called.

We have so much snow today. I hate snow!

Noelle, How is Paradise?

peekabooangel 03-02-2003 06:07 PM

I'm with Angie, been by Stephen Kings house and looks creepy, but I do love his movies.

I don't call myself a Mainiac either, but I guess thats what others call us.

Angie, we went to Agusta today to go to a party at the roller rink, I skated!!! Havent done that in 15 years or so and what a blast I had. We had to leave early though cause like you said the snow was bad, it took us 2 hours to get home, usually its a 40 minute drive. The roads were pure ice till we go closer to the coast and home. Here at my house it snowed a little and has been raining the rest of the time.

How was the movie (Home sweet Alabama?) I loved it!!! Even my hubby liked it. I guess I was feeling emotional cause I even cried at the dog thing!! Won't say to much incase someone else is waiting to see it. "One Hour Photo" was not as good as I thought it was gonna be, but it was okay. Getting ready to watch the other one.

Hugs to all,
Sandy

SvelteChicky 03-02-2003 06:09 PM

Evening Ladies. Typed a whole message, clicked on something, erased the whole thing. Now to summarize.

Congrats to Angie, who is indeed melting..... Great job, so now let's get a new pic huh? I wanna see the new you.

Weather today was georgeous,a nd I took a walk, after days of neglecting myself and the dog. Poor thing must've been holding it forever. Can't wait for nice weather, consistent nice weather. I love spring,a nd to walk outside, wihtout the many layers that make me feel like the mashmallow man.

Love the task of buying new summer clothes, and the idea that I'll have picture sof me at my goal weight... praying I look better in a bathing suit. Definitely holding out on that purchase. That's a big commitment.

So, this week was crazy, and I'm just getting used to being off work.. and then we're almost at Monday. Ugh. Glad we're all on track. .. Oh, we wrote our Dear Birthmother letter. Took forever, and a big stressful moment. But, to talk about how much we love each other, and how improtant a family is, really made me fall in love with husband again... okay okay, sappy.

angieME 03-02-2003 06:23 PM

Sandy, I have never been rollerskating. Sounds like fun. I have tried on the kids rollerblades but that was just to show my sister what a psycho Rebel is with rollerblades. He will try to bite and everything. He hates them.

It is snowing so bad up here still. I shouldn't complain because we haven't gotten half the snow we usually do but I really want spring. Boo Hoo for me. The roads are bad though.

Sweet Home Alabama was good but I didn't like My Big Fat Greek Wedding. I could have fallen asleep during it. That is too bad about One Hour Photo, I was hoping it would be good. Darn! 8 Mile comes out this month. I hope it is as good as the hype.

Speaking of Stephen King. The Langoliers still gives me the creeps. I loved that movie. I always remember it when we are by the airport when it was all empty. Spooky!

I know what you mean Chris about the nice weather. I can't wait until the riverwalk melts so I can walk the dogs again. Rebel is banned from town for taking a bite out of a kids rollerblades so I don't walk him in public.

Me and Jay were just talking about me buying some new clothes today but we are so broke and I am going to have to find about $3,000.00 by April 15. He wants me to go to Kmart. I like the Junior clothes they sell. I did grab a shirt out of my closet today that I had forgotten about and it fits so bonus for me.

angieME 03-02-2003 06:42 PM

KEMPY?

Kempy, How is your head? I hope you aren't too sick and you had fun this weekend.:tired: Talk to ya tomorrow.

melekalikimaka 03-02-2003 08:22 PM

Hey everyone. Just a lazy Sunday here and we're sitting around talking story and the guys are out back making a BBQ. Gosh, I really wish this wasn't every darn week! This IS my parents' house so I guess this is where everyone congregates. It's nice that we all get along and visit with each other, but sometimes I wish that I could just have an OP weekend...I know, it's my decision of what to put in my mouth but on Sundays, it's all kinds of evil tempting goodies all over the house! I just ate a large dill pickle so I'm set until dinner time.

Me and 2 of my sisters went to Ala Moana shopping center near Waikiki in her brand new VW convertible beetle. It was 82 degrees and our hair was flying around in the wind. Fun, fun, fun. I kind of went nuts at Sears since they've started carrying the Lands' End clothing line. My sister said that Sears bought Lands' End so that's why they sell the clothes there now. They've got mens, womens, kids, even shoes. So cool, now I don't have to order from the catalog and pay shipping. Yippee. I think I'm shopped out for now. I did need to buy a few things since a lot of my clothes were too big and it's been so long since I've been a smaller size that I couldn't really find anything smaller that I could wear now, except for jeans...to hot on weekends to wear jeans if venturing outside for a long period of time. Sorry to complain about heat :^: . Anyway, have a great night all.

Kempyd 03-03-2003 12:29 PM

I have been trying to post all morning. I have been busy here trying to clean up some odds and ends from the weekend.

Ok I don't want to hear it anymore about me being a chgatter box you guys are already onto the 2nd page of this thread.

Angie you are doing great I think I should have gone to your house instead of partying this weekend. I think I would have stuck with my program if I had.

Noelle don't you just love to buy new clothes. The only thing I hate is the mirrors in the dressing rooms. They make me look horrible!

Chris you guys are so romantic. I may need to take some lessons from you. Who knew that writing a letter would give you that feeling all over again.

Gar I don't think Echo would ever growl at anyone she would just pee on the floor. She gets so excited when people come over no matter who they are.

Sandy you should come down here we are going to be in the 70s all week.

Washu how is the new job going?

I had a rather fun weekend. We are going to have to save money for next year though. I didn't realize who much we were going to spend. Yikes! JOe and I had a great time but our friends ended up getting into a fight Saturday evening. We stilll don't know why the girl that was with us was mad. SHe just flipped out when we waled out of a bar. She was having a good time and then BAM it was on.

MissWashu 03-03-2003 01:14 PM

i'm still getting used to the job. i'm 1 for 7 on sales, but at least getting appointments has gotten easier.:)

MissWashu 03-03-2003 01:25 PM

ok, it's morning, and the site has managed to out smart me...

good going Sandy!!!! I used to skate all the time... just got a pair of rollerblades the other day. I hope that they are similar to 4-wheelers, I've only been on blades once... and that shouldn't count 'cause they were 2 sizes too big and really hard to control. Anyhow, I digress. I'm going to try them out in about 1/2 an hour... :crossed:

Oh poor Mel... sunny weather and weekly BBQs. :s: I know what you mean about family get-togethers and tempting food though. good going on the pickle. LF / LC salty snack. I love 'em! And hey, at least grilled food is better than fried, right. ;)

Ok, need to shower and wake up.
hugs,
-W-

angieME 03-03-2003 01:32 PM

Kempy, that is too bad about your friends fight. I think that is pretty much why me and Jay turned into homebodies. Every couple we have ever hung out with would get into a HUGE fight for no reason. I hate it when people do that. I am glad you 2 had fun in spite of the other couple. Got any pics?

Noelle, You should get some chicken every week for your BBq's and marinate it for the night. It will feel like your cheating but you won't. I honestly couldn't handle the BBQ's. I would always end up overeating. It is a good thing me and Jay have a boring life! It makes it so much easier to diet.

essey 03-03-2003 01:53 PM

Wow

You have done a great job Angie and I am jealous. You inspire me.

I see a couple of fellow mainers here. HI!! Downeast gal here

Kempyd 03-03-2003 02:07 PM

Don't worry guys we took pics. I have to get the developed first. We didn't take the digital camera b/c it would be to much of a loss if it was stolen. I brought the regular camera and Joe was able to put it in his pocket. I told him that I needed to take some shots for you guys so I am hoping that they have come out good.

Noelle if you stay away from the mayo stuff you should be ok at the BBQ. We usually only have crawfish boils and those things are loaded with salt. Needless to say over the summer I am one water retaining chic.

angieME 03-03-2003 03:09 PM

Hi essey! Welcome to our thread. This is a great group of girls. How much are you trying to lose if you don't mind me asking? I think all of the support I have gotten here has helped me stick to it. DownEast huh. Are you right on the ocean? I am right in central Maine myself.

Kempy, I can't wait to see the pics. I would love to go to Mardi Gras sometime.

Kempyd 03-03-2003 03:15 PM

I guess we don't have to many southerners b/c we are to lazy  That isn't true I have seem a few poeple from right here in good ole' LA.

Angie let me tell you it is an experience. If you are easily embarrassed I don't suggest that you go. It is a time that all sorts of people let themselves go adn wear some crazy stuff. We saw a group of guys walking around wearing combat boots and adult diapers. It was funny but at the same time a little gross. I wonder if they were wearing them b/c they didn't want to wait in line or b/c they wanted a weird costume.

angieME 03-03-2003 03:54 PM

Yuck! Guys walking around in pissy diapers. haha I can see it now.

Noelle, where are ya girl? Jay got a giggle last night when I told him about you riding around in a convertible with the top down this after he just got done shoveling 6 inches of wet snow. I think he wants to move in with you too.

Well, I am off to exercise for a bit. fun fun.

essey 03-04-2003 05:33 AM

to darned cold

I sure would be glad for the thermometer to get to 30 it sure would feel like a heat wave.
I would like to lose 30 to 40 pounds it has been a battle for the last 30 years. I have always been a cubby person and as a kid I was fed way to good. Looking back I almost think I was treated like the family dog, thrown a treat for being good.
Angie you must live near Bangor, my husband is in the national guard in Bangor and we go there every first of the month. We live near the coast and I love it. I have only lived here 3 1/2 years. I am originally from the southern part of Maine.
Made it through Monday ok with my diet and my husband did well to. He does not seem impressed by it but he knows he has to do something to. :df:

peekabooangel 03-04-2003 07:24 AM

essey, I'm from the Mid-Coast, near Damariscotta/Newcastle. Ever heard of them? Anyway, I hear ya about the temps....it is sooooooooo cold!!! We got a lot of rain the other day on the coast instead of snow and my driveway is like a skating rink!!! But the snowbanks are still high enough if you start to go off the driveway they would just bounce ya back on....LOL...

Wishing everyone a nice on plan day.
Sandy

essey 03-04-2003 08:05 AM

I have heard of those towns, I am in Machias. Beautiful coastal town, not much for stores here. It is so small I have to travel an hour just to buy underwear. We do have a shop and save but I think they price gouge because of no competition. Come here in August to the blueberry festival.
As for the temps there seems no relief until the middle of next week. I think my long johns are wearing out! Oh well I guess we have to deal with it but I can not remember having such a cold winter.

essey 03-04-2003 08:17 AM

peekabooangel: are you closer to wiscasset or lewiston?

peekabooangel 03-04-2003 08:21 AM

essey,
I can have my butt in Wiscasset in about 15 to 20 minutes.
I actually live in a town called Bremen, then if you head south you hit Damariscotta, then Newcaslte, then Wiscasset, sounds like a lot but its not, all small towns, if you blink you'll miss em.

angieME 03-04-2003 09:30 AM

My sister went to college in Machias for a few years. I went there once when she was moving into her dorm room. It is really pretty there. Long ride but pretty.

I am in Guilford. It is by Dover and Greenville(Moosehead Lake). Very boring to say the least.

It was so cold yesterday. I really am ready for spring.

Kempyd 03-04-2003 10:01 AM

Whew I didn't understand a thing in those last posts.

Well, today is Fat Tuesday. Thank god I am not in New Orleans. It is pretty nasty outside. It isn't raining but the humidity is high so it is very misty. I am sure the streets and the medians were people stand is a mess.

I took the wrap off of Echo's foot last night and she is much better. She didn't want me to cut that thing off. She kept pulling her paw away. I swear it took me a good 2 hours to get the whole thing off. Spoiled dog that she is as soon as I cut it off she ran into the bedroom and jumped on the bed. I didn't sleep at all last night. I had one cat onthe pillow, one next to my side and Echo was stretched out at the bottom so there was no room for my feet. I can say that tonight she will be in her bed. (right, who am I kidding)

angieME 03-04-2003 11:01 AM

I know Kempy. When I am watching tv in my bedroom all 3 of the dogs have to be in bed with us and they like to wrestle. Last night we had Cappie laying on top of Jay and Candi and Rebel were beating the crap out of each other. It is funny to watch.

I don't know how you can handle the humidity. That is the worst part about summer for me. Especially being in a hot bakery baking and have the extra heat and humidity on top of that.

How are ya feeling today? Did ya get over all the partying, Headaches and stuff?

My scales this morning said 156. Last week I was at 158 but on Saturday morning it said 159 so I just went with that. This weeks weigh in should be a good one.

Kempyd 03-04-2003 11:21 AM

I am sure that you will be a happy camper on weigh in day. You have been working so hard.

I think I am fine now. Yesterday my stomach was still a little upset when i would eat something. I really didn't have a headache. I drank bloody mary's to keep that from happeneing. We found a place that made them from scratch not a mix and they were awesome so we kept getting them all day.

I really don't go outside to much when the humidity is high. It isn't bad when the temps are down but in the summer it is miserable. We will have a temp of 96 and 100% humdity. :fr:

melekalikimaka 03-04-2003 01:30 PM

Hello ladies. Hack, hack, cough, cough. I've been a little under the weather since yesterday with a sore throat and stuffy sinuses so I've been really lazy. I've been lurking but not posting. Welcome aboard essey--glad to have you here.

I didn't even take my walk yesterday, but I did eat some Blue Bunny full :ink: fat Bunny Tracks ice cream. My sister bought it for dessert on Sunday--didn't even touch it then but I finished it off on Monday. My bad. *sigh* I feel like I'm in a slump...not motivated at all right now to lose weight. :( It's weird how my attitude can do a 360 turn in a day. I can go from being all pumped and raring to go then lose all steam and wonder what the point is of trying at all. Blah! I need to snap out of this. All I want to do is leave work and go shopping. I bought 2 more pairs of shoes yesterday during my lunch hour--this after I already bought 2 pairs the day before + all the other clothes I picked up. It gives me a high when I'm doing it but once I get the bags home and look through the purchases it starts to fade. I just want to go out and do it again the next day. I guess shopping is better than eating huh? I need a pep talk girls, I'm losing the drive.

MissWashu 03-04-2003 02:04 PM

Hey Mel, don't give up! It's a beautiful day. You've got a beautiful son and a sweet sweet man! :D :D :D

I know how it feels to need something (emotionally?) and just compulsively try to fill that need w/ other stuff. Yeah, shopping is better than eating... but is there something on your mind. Can you sneak away w/ hubby for awhile. Or maybe take the family to the beach or something. The most important thing is not to give up on yourself. RE: the ice-cream, don't stress it. Jump back on, the wagon's waiting.

:grouphug:
-W-

Oh, BTW if I buy another pair of shoes I think BF will have to forfeit his side of the closet. Did ya get some cute ones?

melekalikimaka 03-04-2003 02:46 PM

Hey Washu, yes it is a beautiful day. We're supposed to get thunderstorms and showers this afternoon but for now it's clear blue and sunny. I am grateful for my family that's for sure. It's work that's bugging me. I want out. I hate tax time. The lady at the accountant's office just bugs me--she reminds me of a schoolteacher I once had. Kind of motherly and annoying  . I need to step back from this diet thing a little, just not get so obsessed about 'good and bad foods'. It's then that I want to binge.

"A woman can never have too many bags or too many shoes." ...Imelda Marcos. Just joking! I did get some cute pairs from Nine West and even from Payless...the buy one, get one half off sale which ended yesterday. I like disposable footwear  . I bought a shoe cubby the other day, holds 25 pairs so I've almost filled it up with my shoes alone. That's not including the ones that I leave outside for everyday use. Of course, hubby's shoes are so huge that I can only put one shoe in each slot instead of the pair. I'm thinking I want to buy another rack and stack 'em up on top of each other. If only could get my closet organized.

angieME 03-04-2003 03:30 PM

Noelle, Are we related? I have been worrying so bad lately about our taxes too. I know I have to pay at least $3,000.00 but I have none. I am so nervous about it it is all I can think of. This winter has been a hard one and our accounts didn't do half as well as usual so that means I can barely pay my monthly bills let alone try to save for taxes.

Remember how bad you felt before you started to diet? Notice how much weight you have lost? Notice how good you feel now? You need to get on track before you do like I did and gain it back and have to start all over again. That isn't fun. I know you can do this. You have accomplished so much already. That is about all the advice I can give because I am not so good at it myself.

angieME 03-04-2003 03:33 PM

Oh Yeah, Remember how when I adopted Cappie the other people dumped him because he was a fence jumper? Guess what the butthead did today? He jumped the fence to go meet the kids after school. Scared the crap out of me. The neighbors kids are *******s and tease the dogs so you can imagine my fear that he may bite one and I get sued. He went to sniff them and the little puke sat there and kept barking in his face and screaming at him. I should have bit the little puke myself! I hate kids like that and they are all over my street. I want to move!!! Noelle, Can I come live with you? I'll be your personal trainer.
