I eat very well 6 days of the week. Then one day a week I eat anything I want. My cousin lost a LOT of weight on this. I guess it all depends on the overall plan and not just whether or not you have a cheat day?

We've had many, many discussions on this. Cheat days mean different things to different people, so it's hard to determine what works about it and what doesn't.
You also say eat whatever you want one day a week - well what people "want" varies a LOT. IF one wants a real lot - sorry the only thing a cheat day is going to do is cheat you out of becoming a healthy weight.
But if one simply wants a roll of sushi or a slice of pizza or a serving of pasta, well that's another story entirely.
I'm happy to say that I was able to lose my weight even though I didn't employ a "cheat" day. And now I really do feel as if I'm "living". No, I didn't find not "cheating" as not "living". Just the opposite - I am finally LIVING life to it's fullest.
But please keep us updated on how the "cheat day" works for you.
Again, it's really hard to define "cheat day", which is why I don't care for the term. Makes it sound dirty, naughty. Not only does it vary on how people define it, also varies on what people CALL it. Even THAT will vary from person to person
