Default Food dreams?

Does anyone else have dreams about eating forbidden food?

A few times since I began my journey, I've had a dream that I am put in a situation where I must eat something that I know is not very good for me.

Last night it was a cupcake. I saw pictures a few days ago of some beautiful cupcakes on a blog and lo-and-behold last night I was pressured into eating one of those delicious cupcakes in my dream. And as I was eating it I knew in my gut that I shouldn't be doing it! It was such an awful feeling.

A week or two ago I had a dream I was out with my SO and we had no choice but to eat out at a fast food place. Well I guess we settled on Subway and I ordered my fave sub. I remember vividly the guiltly feeling as I was scarfing it down in my dream!

Anyways, it was so weird and I wish my subconcious would just butt out and let me have a food-free sleep!

I've had dreams about eating but in mine I am just eating and eating and eating... As for your dream, at least it was Subway and not McDonalds or something.

I have terrible food dreams. I wake up so disappointed and irritated with myself until I realize that I really didn't eat anything I'm not suppose to have. I usually don't feel any guilt in my dreams, just "ooh, this looks good, I'll eat it." Fortunately for me, they usually go away after a week or two.

I have had a couple of dreams about binging on pizza. I figure it's a healthy way to get over the craving, since I don't actually binge on pizza in my every day life!

Thank goodness others are writing about this.

Yes, I've had these dreams. On some level, they are hilarious. I'm usually at some kind of buffet. But no buffet I've ever been to has been like the ones in my dreams. It's like a series of staged "Gourmet" magazine covers or every gorgeous spread you've ever seen in women's magazine holiday section. I mean, the kind where there are silver centerpieces & a roasted suckling pig with an apple in its mouth & every kind of platter in a Red Lobster commercial & vats of melted chocolate & etc. That's what's so funny about them. It's the Horn of Plenty, realized, like those old Dutch paintings of prosperity.

And I eat & eat & eat, though I know I'm not supposed to.

With that slap-my-forehead, "What Did I Just do?" feeling afterward.

What's most memorable is my feeling when I start emerging from the dream & realize that it was a dream. I feel such profound relief.

I don't have these very often, but yes, they're very memorable the next day.

I figure they're a near cousin to transgressive sex dreams, in which you find yourself doing very naughty things indeed with someone whom you absolutely shouldn't even think about in that way.

LOL! When I quit smoking, I belonged to a forum like this only for quitters instead of losers ;-) They all had dreams about smoking, and they all felt bad when they woke up until they realized it was just a dream. Personally, I say enjoy those dreams of excess and just don't wake up and try to replicate 'em! The funny things our brain does to us.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one! I had a dream a couple of weeks ago that somebody made me eat a cheeseburger and french fries (and no ordinary french fries...they were smothered with cheese and ranch dressing and came in a neverending supply) and the whole time I felt so awful. In the dream I immediately felt as though I was drunk--like the worst drunk experience of my life. I was dizzy and nauseous and stumbling all over the place. It was terrible.

I think it's either (a) our brain's way of letting us cheat a little bit or (b) we're subconsiously brainwashing ourselves. Haha.

I'm on Phase 1 of South Beach. This weekend my family from Little Caesar's, and there was a piece left over the next morning. I had a dream last night that I woke up and ate the pizza for breakfast. Not only that, I shredded two kinds of cheese to stack on top of it so it had even more calories. I didn't feel guilty until I woke up, and then I was so disappointed in myself. Just a few more days and I'd be off of Phase 1 anyway! Now I'd have to add a few days to make sure I wasn't craving that kind of carb. It took me a while to realize I didn't actually eat the pizza. I'm glad my resolve is better during my waking hours.

It's a welcome break from dreaming about public bathrooms that have no doors.
