Bellydancing means you have to have something that jiggles, it looks better that way hence "belly" dancin....then again all you have to do is poke mine and it moves on its own!

Ive decided today is my day off and eat loadsa beans on toast day, cos im worth it!
I just found out one of my local shops has started labelling vegan food, whoop whoop!
I heard the US doesnt have that system, is that true? Poor you if you dont!

Congrats on your weight loss so far
I dunno if im looking foward to or dreading mine :/
xxx
True about the belly dancing...but there's a difference between having some and ALOT and I promise...it's not really pretty

That's why I'm waiting until I'm thinner...like..I'll take up lessons after my first 100 lbs.

I personally haven't seen anything labeled vegan unless I go to..Whole Foods, where there are some products that ARE labeled vegan. That's another reason I generally stick with the whole foods...because honestly it's a bit hard to sift through twenty or thirty ingredients just to find there's milk in it >.>

Have faith in yourself!!

+++: (I'm glad you're house trained )

Hey there!

I'm doing alright(ish) food-wise. I made rice/veggies/sweet&sour sauce last night. That was delicious. Next time I'll make some tofu to go with it.

I was planning on going for a walk today (I found my pedometer!), but it's pouring outside and it's supposed to rain all day. I guess I'll get on the treadmill instead.

THE Heather-if you have a Kohl's where you live, they usually have good quality athletic shoes for pretty cheap. I wear New Balance and I can usually find them for about $35, which is about $50 less than at a sporting goods store.

I went vegan for ethical reasons, but quickly discovered the health benefits. I'm allergic to dairy and never knew it. My skin was terrible before I went vegan and once I quit dairy it cleared right up. Now I always know if dairy was in my food, because I'll break out within hours. I used to have daily headaches and was always kind phlegmy (such a gross word-but so descriptive!) and all that went away.

Oh-I checked out Vegan Dad. Holy moly!! Those wings look delicious. I definitely need to stay away!

Thanks for the advice on shoes! There's actually a Kohl's not too far from where I live. I might have to check it out when I get paid..

Jade - Fat Free Vegan is pretty awesome! I made a quinoa/veggie recipie off of her site and took it to a family cookout. Most enjoyed - only ones that didn't are the ones that are afraid of vegan food . You know because we put weird stuff in stuff . Some food is labeled at least where I live with the vegan symbol. I noticed the other day that Harris Teeter (southern grocery store) has started putting the vegan label on shelves along with gluten free and other allergy type warnings on some of their store brand items. I'd love love love if this was required though!

Darby - thanks for the tip on NB shoes. I've been eyeballing a pair on their website but they're $90 . I'll check out Kohl's instead first.

Oh and in the spirit of bellydancing here's a Moroccan Tagine recipe that I will certainly be trying soon: http://urbanvegan.blogspot.com/.

I'm so bummed right now. I have no time whatsoever to work out because I'm stuck doing massive amounts of homework. I do try to move when I can, but there's only so much I can do from behind a book with a pen and paper!!

Maybe tomorrow will bring me some relief if not, I"ll have to make up for it on Sunday and Monday

Good luck on everyone else's weigh ins!!

I havnt been able to weigh myself yet, il have to check in tommorow.
I decided not to go out earlier, was sooooo shattered from the walking yesterday plus im working tommorow, loooong day.
I have eaten like mad today, mostly out of boredom. It was all healthy vegan stuff, just alot of it!
I also noticed the portion sizes that i have are huge, my stomach was a bit flatter during the week wheras now im bloated again
I was buzzing (happy) all week i was so positive. I think im more restless than anything. Still being positive tho <--
Congrats on everyones weightloss so far, keep it up chickadees!

JILLNICOLE...YOU GO GIRL! Im trying to lose the weight but being vegan makes me focus on just being happy in general

FAT CHICK B GONE...i know what you mean about the weird looks, they think we're trying to poision them! How do they not realise we are HEALTHIER! lol my bf is annoying as **** in that sense, hes a vegetarian but whenever i ask him to try somethin "i wont like it" GRRRR you havnt even tried it yet *calms down* Im on a vegan cooking rampage right now and im desperate to cook for people! Am i weird?lol

When my student loan comes through im going to look into buying some vegan shoes/toiletries etc

THE HEATHER...Dont do what i did a couple of years ago and take loadsa chocolate/chips and whatever else i could get, to your room whilst you do the work, i found that was when i ate loadsa crap! Like the neck tattoo aswell btw, i got my first up my right lower leg a couple of months ago, my next will be a treat to ME when i get some of the weight off.

Has anyone else got a tattoo?(random q)

Stay Positive this weekend

I have two others! Yayyyyy tats. And I have 15 piercings (going up to 17 next week!)

I'm not really a snacker when I study because I don't like getting things in my books...an OCD of mine although I admit that my weight gain DID come from snacking and studying as a child.

Boo.

Today at the gym I was 217 on the nose. I'll take that! I'm waiting for the healthy feeling to kick in. Right now I am soooo tired! But then again, I did try to go to bed early last night and wound up laying there for hours unable to sleep. My sleeping schedule is so borked.

159 again today. I saw 158 on 9/1, and have been above ever since. I believe it's water, but I'm starting to worry. Except, there's no way I have a positive calorie balance. Trudging on.

Jill, I do thank you for starting the thread! I've made choices to skip the meat that I might not otherwise have made . I take forever to do things on my own .

I'm so PROUD of all of you!!
Just remember no matter if you didn't lose this week, that's okay... our mini goal is about 3 weeks away so we have time to really kick ourselves into gear.

So week 1's 'happy goal' was to dance for 15 minutes a day to great music....
does anyone have any ideas we can do next week? Let me know!! Don't hold back!

You all are the best group ever!

Morning ladies!!

This hurricane business is frustrating. I live in the Dallas area, so we're just getting what's left over, but everyone is freaking out! I went to Walmart last night to pick up a few veggies (and my mom needed her chocolate fix o_0). I'm standing in line...which was LONNNGGGGG. I'm standing there with onions, asparagus, red wine vinegar, and HERSHEYS and everyone around me has shopping carts full of water, bulk toilet paper, bulk foods...etc.

It's just going to be a really bad storm here. Not quite a hurricane. We've seen worse people!!! (I'm takling about here in Dallas. I know the coast cities are hit head on and they're all in my prayers)

I just think that people are overreacting HERE. Tornadoes that we get in the spring are more destructive than what we're expecting here. I guess the difference is...the warnings.

On an actual weight loss/dietary note:
Because of all of this rain, it looks like I'm going to be doing dance dvds because I can't go outside.

We shall see how this goes!

Back to more homework

Hope everyone has a great day!
