well since we're a good week in September I'd say my mini goal will be 6 pounds. Just a little under half way

I think that sounds good. Especially since I've started playing basketball again.

Wheat doesn't bloat me...it's soy. I have a hard time with soy. I can have it in moderation i.e: a couple of times a month. But unfortunately I can't make it a part of my everyday rituals.

Oh your kidding? Ive been living on yoghurts n soy milk I need to look into that.
Have you tried almond milk? i hear its nice but almonds are sposed to be high in fat but good for you right? I love rice milk but its high gi and sposed to make you gain weight even tho its low fat, the only thing i havnt tried is oat milk, anyone? anyone?
I find pasta EEEEEEEEVIL. i get a spare tire just from eating the tiniest bowl.
Is soy sposed to be good for medical conditions? or a no go?
yes i will continue to ask many a question

Ehh I use rice milk in my multi grain pancakes. YUM!

As far as the food I eat..I GENERALLY eat whole foods. I don't even buy processed foods...with exception of my pastas and what not.

I just find the whole "vegan" thing easier when I eat nothing but whole foods

JADE... I think the longer the better, so I'd go for a long power walk. I just tried Lentils a couple days ago, boiled them in water, onion, garlic and basil. Delicious! Yours sounds good too!!

HEATHER... do you cook alot? I try my best buy can be difficult

As much as I can. I love to cook! It allows me to be creative and put all of my favorite flavors together....so I never get bored. Good thing is, I can take my left overs to work, so I can always ensure that I'm getting a well balanced vegan meal while I'm not at home

Im debating going back to rice milk now, I had an argument with my bf about soy having more fat in than normal milk, the war never ends i tell ya!
Im addicted to bananas with soya spread on oatcakes, need to cut down on those aswell.
Anyone know where to get some good vegan soup recipe's?

We're so gonna kick butt on this, go vege's go vege's

Do you have any cook books like Veginomicon or Vegan Planet?? That's where I get my soups. Or I like to make my own with whatever veggies I have...and whatever sounds good. I always have veggie stock on hand...or I make an asian style dish with soy sauce or teryaki.

I do like to get creative...so maybe I'm the wrong person to ask lol

Best Lentil Soup Ever
Submitted by Vicki

Ingredients:

3-4 cups dried lentils (red lentils cook up to a pretty bright yellow!)
4-5 cups water or vegetable broth
dried onion
dried celery
dried zucchini
minced garlic
crushed red pepper
3" piece dried Kombu (a type of seaweed)
handful of Arame (another seaweed)
Directions: Place all ingredients into crockpot. Cook all day on 'Low' setting.

Variation: To leftover soup, I have added leftover grilled vegetables: red onion, summer squash, Portobello mushrooms, and eggplant, cut in thick slices, rubbed with olive oil and drizzled with fat-free Italian dressing, then grilled. Buzz the leftover soup and grilled veggies through the food processor, and stir everything together.

Comments:
Feel free to add whatever you have on hand. Carrots, either in the initial cooking or as one of the grilled veggies would be great.

There's no salt in the original recipe. I don't normally salt as I cook, but rather allow people to salt to taste their own individual servings.

Freezes well. Freeze meal-size portions in quart-size freezer bags.

Hey everyone
HEre's some great "milk" information....

this is for 1cup serving each/ and I didn't include calories for "skim or light" (this is of course depending brand-so these are basic results)

RICE MILK- 120calories/2g fat
SOY MILK- 130calories/4g fat
ALMOND MILK- 60calories/2.5g fat
REGULAR MILK- 150calories/7.9g fat

I havn't tried rice or almond milk yet... but I can't wait to try almond milk... hope it's as good as it sounds!

I'm already off the milk . I've tried almond and soy milk, but haven't settled yet on what to use in my coffee. I'm not too much into the fake meats. I grew up on a lot of veggie meats that I wasn't too fond of and I'm avoiding processed foods. But I will be eating some I'm sure . I plan to try to do some tofu next week and hopefully try some tempeh too.

Thanks!

I tried that and it was OK. I guess it will just take getting used to something new. I haven't tried rice milk yet. Plus I'll probably have to try different brands of things too. I like the idea of using soy milk in my coffee because of the protein, but I'm not sure the flavor is going to work.
