Jillnicole-I both had a "chicken" parmesan sandwich. All they did was microwave some type of frozen chicken cutlet thing, put some tomato sauce and some tasteless "cheese" sauce on it and put it on a bun. I got a side order of mac & cheese and it was just noodles with a blob of the same blah cheese sauce. It was just really bland, and if I'm paying those kind of prices, I really expect something that I can't easily make at home.

There are tons of vegan friendly restaurants up there, so I'm sure next time I'll have a great experience.

Hey girls

THat does stink..I hate when vegan food is bland. It should never be. I made chickpea cutlets...Delicious! and def. not bland... Got the recipe from Veganomicon. that is a great cookbook. Well hope you all have a great day!

Jill- I love that you posted about the Skinny BI*** book...I know how u feel you want the world to know how easy the transition is and how great u look and feel! I'm constantly gettin in trouble by my own family about telling them too much information. Oh well when I believe in something I tell it!

there is a website I use to find veg restaurants. its called happy cow.
it breaks it down by state and then city. you can write reviews as well. its a cute little website.

as far as the weigh in I am still the same....holding at 270 hopefully by friday i will be down something!
I also couldnt help but notice I am the heaviest in the contest....its seems odd to tell people I am a vegan sometimes given how big I am and they expect a vegan to be a little pale girl. haha surprise!

Oh Jasmine anyone can be overweight. Good lord I could eat pasta everyday and really pack it on!! However I do understand what you're saying. I've had nosy people ask me how much weight I've lost since becoming vegan. I always explain it's the calorie-counting and exercising that does it NOT just being vegan. Am I healthier being vegan - dur of course but again pasta, nuts, PB, all that stuff is really high calorie. People are so silly sometimes!

rdw1 - I like the webstite you posted, I've done several of her recipes and they've all turned out well.

I'm hanging in there this week. Food has been a bit high this week - I've been extra hungry for some reason. Maybe it's the cooler weather and my body thinking it needs to store up? I haven't run this week either and will tonight - think I need to in order to get a bit of a loss this week!

Jill - people are sometimes threatened by different (and better!) ways of thinking and living. Brush it off, you did nothing wrong.

There's a place 15 minutes from me that only sells vegetarian entrees. At least half of the menu is vegan. It's AMAZING!
I just got back from it! ^^

I loved the book too, not necessarily all the language(I guess I didn't really read it, I listened to it on cd)...
I too don't understand the weight lost since becoming vegetarian- I have actually gained a few lbs!!!! lol Guess they think you can only get bigger eating flesh- eew.
going to happy cow now- sounds interesting!!!

You chickies are doing great!

That's awesome, I wish I had some vegetarian or vegan places to eat around me! This part of South Carolina just has NO options, but when I'm back in California it should be better.

RDW... I've heard a lot that when you first go vegetarian you lose about 10 lbs and when you first go vegan you lose about 30 lbs... so maybe its only those beginning stages when your body is cleaning house?? That's my guess lol Don't know! Yeah I feel I have been losing weight pretty effortlessly with the switch to vegan food, but slowly.

Hey everyone!

I'm Dee and I just learning to become a vegetarian after reading skinny b*tch. So far everything is going well, but I hoped I could join in on your chatter. I don't know any other vegetarians/vegans here so your support will really help. I know it's almost halloween, but my goal is to not eat any cheese, milk, or dairy products.

I'm going on a road trip this weekend from Ireland (where I'm studying at a university) to Belfast in Northern Ireland from friday afternoon to monday night. I'm traveling with 3 guys (who eat a lot of chocolate) and my friend Liz (who eats a ton of candy), so hopefully I will be able to stick on plan. I went to a farmer's market and bought a lot of fruit and vegetables so that when we stop for meals I won't have to buy something if there isn't anything vegetarian. Hopefully they will understand my choice and it won't be strange if i don't buy lunch or dinner with them. Wish me luck! I'll let you know how it went when I get back.
