I am new here and I have done Eat to Live in the past and lost quite a bit of weight (and cholesterol, too). I currently try to eat a more general low-fat, whole-foods, plant-based diet. It doesn't quite meet the goals of E2L (not enough vegetables). I really like the E2L approach, though, and I do think of the goals all the time in deciding what to eat -- otherwise I would probably eat all grains, lol. I'm glad others are finding it valuable, too.
I've had success in the past with ETL!!! I still eat a plant based diet but am following a different plan now, low carb vegan, so it's higher in fat than ETL.
I'm picking up E2L again, after much frustration, fatigue, and pain in my abdomen (PCOS, and inflamed ovaries) being on a low-carb diet. My period stopped yet again 3 months ago, when I started eating animal protein again. Coincidence? We'll see!
This morning I had 4 peices of fruit chopped up with cinnamon. 2 apples, 1 pear, and 1 orange, and I'm about ready to burst I'm so full. E2L never ceases to amaze me.
Hello~ I know this thread was started back in January but I'd love to bump it up since I'm new here and new to ETL. I just found out about it lastnight when I was looking for recipes for the fatsmash and ETL is really appealing to me.
I don't have the book yet but am going to see what I can do until I do get it and would love to make today my first day.
My goal is to lose my last 10lbs that do not want to go away no matter what I do.
OK, I'm trying to go back to E2L starting tomorrow because even though I've been eating pretty good vegan-wise, I've slipped into eating way too many grains and being a little too generous with the dark chocolate .
Nelie, I also eat small meals. I can't do 3 big meals anymore, it just doesn't work for me psychologically. I don't consider it snacking because every meal is a mini-meal, with protein and carbs and a bit of fat sometimes.
I was flipping through the book again today and found a part that talked about grains. Dr. F said something about how some people may be able to eat more than 1 cup of grains a day because they can metabolize it. So it's not a hard-and-fast rule that you can only have 1 cup. If you can tolerate more, then it seems like it's ok.
For those of you who have joined the website: I'm considering joining because I feel like it might make me more committed (since I'm dishing out money for it ). Have you found it worth it? Can you cancel any time?
I've never heard about this book, I don't know if it is sold in my country, but I'll look for it. I'm vegetarian, going on vegan, so I guess I'll give it a shot, just for fun =) But no way I'll do 3 meals a day, 6 is the number =)
I'm starting E2L again tomorrow, a bit modified (adding about 1 tbsp of oil for dressings - I just can't do the fat free thing!) I'm focusing on getting lots or protein and keeping fruit sugars a bit more under control. I'm still eating plenty of fruit but no longer doing the all-fruit smoothies .
I think I do want to join the website eventually. I did more research on it and I really like the fact that there's a weekly call-in support group where you can actually get phone support from other people on E2L. Honestly, if there was a very active message board here or elsewhere specifically geared towards E2L, I might not consider it, but there just aren't any that I've found and I definitely need support at this point.
I did the math and if you do a yearly subscription it turns out to less than 10 bucks a month. I can definitely afford to spend that on my health .
I'll start tomorrow and see if I can get through the next week or so without going off. If I feel that committed, then I'll join the website before the end of the year (since I'm afraid membership might go up in Jan...)
I just started E2L 2 days ago and I dont know if its just in my head, bu tmy energy level has dramatically increased. Im sull all of the time and have lost 2lbs. Im definately loving this program.
Tonight for diner I roasted asparagus, carrots, and brussel sprouts in the oven with veggie stock and put garlic powder all over them. It was absolutely delicious and I was full on veggies alone. It was great.
I hope I keep up the momentum on this.
Hey Folks. I'm doing E2L also. I've been making gradual changes, but most recently kicking it up a notch. I try to eat as much raw and fresh veggies as possible and I've been shifting from the wholefoods anything goes (potatoes, lots of grains, etc) to an E2L approach. I'm already E2Lin in many ways as I don't consume dairy or gluten (well...there are messes ups even with this...although it causes some painful consequences!!!).
Also on youtube there's lots of raw recipe videos. I llike Karen's Favorite Nori Rolls and Mediterranean Kale Salad. Be careful though, some call for a billion nuts. lol
Good to see some activity here at last . I held off on doing this mainly because I had a series of stresses and this week, three full days of migraines! On day 2, I thought eating a lot of protein (including cheese and eggs) would help but it only made it worse. Yesterday I did my E2L modified plan and that along with a few Excedrine Migraine pills made the three day migraine go away completely. I guess it was eating clean food that helped.
Today I'm back on day 2 and also feeling a lot of energy. One interesting thing is that I expected to feel tired after a berry and tofu smoothie that I drink in the afternoon since I thought the sugar rush would get to me (I've made fruit and tofu smoothies before and I've noticed that). But it didn't - I felt enough energy. So maybe I can stick with it this time.
I've picked up the book and really like it so far. I've planned out my meals based on the plan for the next few days on TDP. Does anyone else find it hard to hit their calorie goal b/c of how low calorie fruit, veg, and beans are? I'm ending up just doubling up on Broccoli portions, I guess thats the whole idea?
