  • what's the best? i'm looking to buy some to try and not sure which kind to get.
  • im not a vegitarian, but ive always really liked morning stars veggie burgers.. i actually prefer them to real burgers!. so good...
  • Morning Star Farms is really good. My favorite is their Black Bean burger, and my mom's is the Original Grillers.
My absolute favorite fake meat are the Gardenburger Riblets. They taste a surprisingly lot like the real thing, and it's vegan.
Bocca has some good stuff, too. (Just not their vegan burgers... It tastes like rubber). Bocca's got really good fake chicken.
  • I agree, my favorite fake chicken patties was MorningStarFarms Chicken Patties (until I went strict veg).

I like Boca, MSF, Gardenburger, Quorn, Health is Wealth, are some basic brands.
  • I like Tofurkey products. I make an incredible smoked turkey, curried mayo sandwich...
  • I really like Health is Wealth products as well as lighter life. I think as far as commercialized fake meats go, the 'chicken' like products are generally better. I also really like making my own seitan as its super easy and fairly quick.
  • Lightlife is my favorite brand - they're generally found in the produce section. Lightlife uses non-gmo ingredients which I prefer. As you can see everyone has their favorites- I recommend trying a few and seeing what your taste buds like.
I'd also caution about using only meat subs for your protein - I'm guessing you like lentils by your name ? Try new recipes with the wide variety of beans, tofu, tempeh, seitan, etc out there. I have been utterly amazed at just how much more varied my diet is since going vegan.
  • I was going to say that I rarely use commercial fake meat myself. Once a week, maybe less. My variety of food has definitely gone up since going vegan. I also have to say that I love food more now than ever.
  • Quote: I also have to say that I love food more now than ever.
    Ditto.
  • I'm not big on fake meat products, but I have been really enjoying Tofurkey Italian Sausage. It's meaty and a bit spicy. But it's definitely an indulgence. I'm trying to use it to accent dishes, not as a main filling ingredient.
  • I like yves ground round products, they are vegan and don't contain any artificial flavors, trans fats, etc and you can do a lot with them.
  • thanks for the input! that will definitely help when i'm at the store!
  • Actually, the best brand I think is Amy's organic frozen foods, they are usually a little pricier so I usually buy Boca Flame grilled burger patties.
  • In Canada I cant find any of your cool brands. We have Bocca burgers and yves products but thats about it. Im also in Alberta though which is the beef capital of Canada. They didnt even know what a vegan was at the health food store near my house when I was trying to buy vitamins.
  • Some of those products sound amazing! Here in the UK we're more or less limited to Quorn and Linda McCartney brands, but Quorn is so good that my boyfriend, who is a massive carnivore, has started buying some of their products for himself. You have to love food that is low fat, high protein, animal free and easy to prepare
