Hoing back to gp on Monday, just hope that I've lost more this time or she will be taking me off the xenical, I've even cooked my meals seperately from the families so here's hoping that it's made a difference, i've not been on my scales yet as i try not to until several days before, my clothes feel that bit slacker so something's happening.
Just wanted to say keep going peeps, I know it's hard, but there is light at the end of that slim tunnel.

I go to my GP on Friday but its not a target weigh-in. Think I've done better than last month but I'm weighing in the afternoon which is a bit of a worry as I usually go early morning.

I think the 5% weightloss target in three months is quite a tough one after the first few months. I'm trying to do as well as I can this month and next as I'm on holiday for two weeks over Easter, on an all inclusive basis as well.

Hope it goes well for you on Monday.

How did your weigh-in go Lainey?

Mine was better than I thought and the GP put me at 3kg lost the last 4 weeks. Didn't think it was quite as much myself but hey, who's arguing. My target is therefore only 2kg in the 8 weeks, so I don't need to stress myself over this.

How's everyone else doing Kim? SarahJayne?

Just thought I'd update to say I lost 2.5lb this week to reach the 5 stone lost mark. This also means I'm out of the 100s in kilos and weighed in at 99.4kg this morning.

Not heard from the regulars much recently. Is there anyone with me on this?

Hi folks. I am giving Xen. one last try before WLS. I had a consultation about 2 weeks ago, and the dr recommended a gastric bypass over the lap-band. That scared me cos I only had the band in mind. He said he'd give me the band if I insisted but I would much prefer to lose the weight myself for a sense of pride, never mind the cost lol.

Kitty, your loss is absolutely fantastic. How did you lose the 23lbs before Xen?

:

I was doing very similar to what I was doing on the Xenical. I calorie count and have around 1400 calories a day. I was already eating low fat although at that point I didn't keep such a close eye on these. My weight loss in the 3 months prior to starting the Xenical went like this:

Month 1 - 16lb
Month 2 - 4lb
Month 3 - 3lb

By the time I got to losing 3lb a month and with well over 100 to go, I thought I had nothing to lose but the weight if I tried Xenical. 7 months on I am so pleased that I did. My weightloss is slowing down now but I'm still losing about 5lb a month.

Kitty

PS I have some insight into WLS as a close colleague has had several surgeries the most successful of which has without a doubt been the RYN bypass.

Hello Kitty, that's great going. My dr is recommending the RnY for me over the band but I'm very undecided. The idea of such major surgery scares me a lot and I'd really prefer to lose the weight myself but it's keeping it off is the trouble lol.

Sparkle, have you been able to get that WLS on the NHS or are you paying for it privately? Sorry to ask but I am desperate to have a gasteric bypass but cant afford to pay for it. I've told my doctor and she just laughed and said I wasnt fat enough! I weigh 23.1!!!!

What made you give up lighterlife? My freind is on it and has lost 6 stone, I have considered it but what happens when you start eating food again? I could imagine that I would just go crazy.

I have got Xenical but have been off it for 2 weeks because I nearly crapped myself at work! But my weight is at a standstill and I'm doing everything right (I think) so I may go on it again.

As I live in NI NHS funding is not available. In the UK I think it's very much a 'postcode lottery' which is prob why your gp said you weren't fat enough or else their budget/guidelines tell them to refuse anyone with a BMI of say under 50 or 60 for example, basically it's all about saving money!

At the end of the day though, I really hate the side effects of Xenical which is why I am going to be really careful about what I eat. Though I do not want to be eating more carbs instead of fat. Am a carb-fiend lol.

If you stay on it long enough to do 'foundation' which is your initial 100 days or 14 weeks, your stomach will have shrunk by that time. You then either choose to continue or go into 'management' which is usually for people who have lost their excess weight on foundation.

Cambridge, as I mentioned on your other post has more options. You can either 'sole source' where the shakes and soups are your only nutrition, or choose a plan with food suchas '790' where you have 3 shakes plus a small meal of protein and veg.

Hi, i tried xenical for a while and it didnt really help me, it gave me such a swollen stomach too, a bit gassy i think Had you thought about trying zylene, its a fairly new all natural appetite suppresant. Its been helping me no end, ive lost 10lbs now It makes a change to find something that works.

I'm only taking 2 a day as my breakfast doesn't have enough fat content to warrant taking it. So far I must be doing ok as no side effects. Trouble is I am unable to exercise at the moment as I am recovering from 2 strokes. My left side only works when it feels like it. My GP set me a target of losing 13lbs in 12wks with xenical. She didn't want to set me a higher target because of my inability to exercise. A walk from the front door to the car leaves me needing a nap! And due to going into hospital I didn't start the xenical until week 3.

well my first week on xenical hasn't been a success. No weightloss. Just a half pound gain. Although my clothes do feel that they are a bit looser. I guess I am going to struggle with not being able to exercise.

Haven't given an update for a while as I've been on holiday in Egypt (fabulous btw) but I lost a further lb since I last updated by stats. I've lost a total of 75lb so will post a couple of pics when I get round to it.
