Cor well done YP1 - great news. Bet you are super chuffed!
I am a happy bunny cos my order came from Amazon. 2 cd's for my friends birthday - driving Rock (a compilation- one I already have and she has played it, but this is a new one for her), Heart Attack and Vine by Tom Waits - I love his stuff! Now she can! I also got myself a 70's compilation - New wave, rock etc but there are a few grotty ones on there like Racey (remember them? (Some Girls, Lay your love on me). I can cope with that (just) but why do they put a novelty record on these things - The wurzles - Combine Harvester. Even if you thaought it was great at the time (NO I did not!) are you really going to listen again and again? Grrr! Still there is some good stuff on it - Public Image, Stranglers, Buzzcocks, Ruts, XTC, Tom Robinson Band, Ike & Tina, Roxy Music, KC & Sunshine Band, Dr Hook, Steve Harley, George McCrae, Gerry Rafferty, Dr Feelgood, Canned Heat, Al Stewart oh! and anyone remember Kenny? Do the bump (yes I know I am sad!)
I quite liked Combined Harvester - its one of those songs I force DH to sing when we are stuck in a traffic jam in a country lane ... ... usually caused by someone driving a combined harvester going at 5mph. I like compliation CDs but, like you say, there are some tracks I don't want to listen to over and over so I tend to copy the tracks I do like to a 'favourites' CD or my MP3 player.
I won't be wearing a strappy top while allotmenting again.... I've never had so many people stop and chat (for 'people' read 'old boys') - thing is our allotment is as far away from the main track through the site as you can get so they couldn't possibly have been 'just passing'. Anyway, I managed to finish digging the bed for my beautiful little celeriac seedlings.
Sarah Ann- you are evil - fancy forcing hubby to do that!! You are also the siren of the allotments - luring dirty old men with your strappy top! Couldn't you do the 'weak little woman' thing and get them to do the heavy digging for you??? Oh yeah but then you would not be bending over showing your 'girls' - oh I see!
Sarah those old boys never lose it do they. In fact men on the whole are like that till the day they die I reckon.
I'm absolutely knackered fortunately its my day off tomorrow but the big fella is off to Belgium in the morning and we have to get him to school by 6.30am arghh. Plus I have to do his ironing for the trip and he can't decide what he is taking he is worse than any girl. He has gone to the shops yet again this evening with his father to buy yet another new top or something. He had his haircut too and I could hardly see the difference I said I could have done that you big eejit.
The little fella has gone swimming and is trying to persuade me to go to the London Dungeon on Monday I can't think of anything worse. He is an absolute horror for making plans.
My eating is still going ok the scales aren't shifting but I feel lighter. I think I will head to the gym shortly.
My father says he wants to get a mobile for when he goes home to Kerry for his holiday so he can ring for a taxi to get home from the pub!! I cannot imagine my father with a mobile he is worse with technology than I am. When he changes the channel of the tv he really leans forward and aims it right to the screen it always makes me laugh as he always says oh feck this ting.
My mother is doing well too I must remember to weigh her this week. Mind you she has been eating lots of choccy since it was her birthday last week and she got lots of it. So I don't expect her to have a loss but I just like to monitor it really. She thinks she's nine stone anyway so thats great.
Sarah Ann - and everyone else who has an MP3 /ipod/whaever they are- What do you think i s the best one. I had a nosey at the Alternachick postings on these but they are probably American makes that I can't get here. I don't even know if MP3's and ipod are one and same (even worse than Miche's Dad when it comes to technology!). I don't want one that makes the tea for me or provides dancing girls - I just want to be able to put some music on it from my CD's.
One of the guys at work regularly explains things to me but it goes over my ageing head. Help please!
I don't know where the days are going, or where my time seems to be disappearing to?
It's a beautiful sunny day out today, we're supposed to hit the 80's and 90's this week... HOORAH!
I am starting the curves six weeks to a new you programme on the 4th June. Our club is doing it for our members and they need someone who will do it along side the members and teach them what to do, I figured I was as good as anyone to have a go. I've been looking through the daily planned menu's and they seem pretty easy to do and tasty sounding, so it's not like I can't make the meals or eat them... that's always a good thing, cos being not a great cook in life, I like easy and tasty. I've just been doing the work book for it on DVD and it seems pretty self explainatory so I reckon I will be able to give the members a bit of help... fingers crossed please.
Sarah, your allotment sounds like it's coming along great guns, and how about your old chaps hey? Bless, you're probably the best thing that's ever happened to them in that little village
Well done on the half helen, stay off the bike... I'm not sure what you're all talking about with 'tapering' but I'll just keep with the other girls and tell you to stay off the bike.
Peacock.. because you've mentioned "combine harvester', aren't I bloody well humming it now? Thank you lovely...
Frus, sounds like you're a quick mover with looking at flats, packing and sorting, well done you
Michelle, hope your eldest has fun on his school trip, I'm getting Hannah's paperwork ready for her's to DC in June and it's a bloody nightmare, good to hear that your parents are doing well
CG... did ANYONE bring any fish home from the trip?
Ok, washing is ready to hang out, so I'd better stop whittering on here... have a good day all...
There are hundreds of different makes/brands of MP3 players which play MP3music files. Apple Mac has also introduced its own a range of devices called iPod to the market place. An ipod is more versatile than an MP3 player (and I hate to say it perhaps more cool and to be seen with) as it can play a wider range of music formats one of which is MP3. MP3 files downloadable from places like "napster" or "iTunes" You can download converters to change your cd's to MP3 format (with caution) I think iTunes itself can convert to MP3 but you need to check. iTunes is a free computer music library and player application. The latest iPod can play video's as well, my niece has one but its quite bulk. I explained very carefully to my darling husband that I NEEDED an 8g black iPod for my birthday...... so I could start running of course .... the thing is the iPod hasnt actually left the house yet!!
I hope most of this makes sense... again my darling husband has dictated it to me as most of it just goes woosh straight over my head!!
peacock- I got my MP3 from ARgos, it was about £20. I haven't downloaded any tracks off the internet but have burned CDs onto the computer and copied them onto my MP3. its basic but much cheaper than an ipod!!
(also witnessed someone getting mugged for their ipod once )
Peacock I love my Ipod I would recommend them to anyone. My boys sort it for me though I give them a list of what I want and they do the rest. Last nigth I borrowed the big fella's ipod and he has music that I really like but the little fella has terrible taste all that rap stuff which I cannot stand.
Conor got off to Belgium this morning we dropped him off at school about 6.30am. The little fella is enjoying being the only child for a couple days.
Piglet I was hugely impressed to read your info about IPods and MP3's I was thinking blimey that girl knows her stuff it tickled me when you said your hubby had dictated it to you. A girl after mine and Peacock's heart.
Chris there is a big promotion for Curves at the moment where I live. Is a treadmill included in the session I'm not really sure what it is. How is Hannah these days.
It was my day off today. I did some washing but mainly sat in the garden and read my book with my Kerry stretched out at my feet. Did a bit of shopping bought a vest for £3.00 from New Look to go under a brown smocky top I bought the other week the one that makes my bosoms look big I think. Then I went to see my parents who are in great form.
I just had a ciabatta roll with I heated in the oven and had a quorn steak which my hubby bought me I don't usually do the quorn thing. With this I added mushrooms, red onions peppers a layer of hummous and topped with watercress it was delicious. Had a small choccy bar afterwards a wafery thing. I'm not gymming this evening.
I'm hoping my Conor will telephone this evening but its the final of the Champions League so no doubt he will be watching that in their hotel room!! Oh what a life youngsters have these days.
Thanks all for the info - yes I vaguely remember the greek god and a german girl at work explaining about ipod being an apple thingy - but alcohol was partaken and although I was not drunk - you really need all your faculties when having that explained to you! I will bother them again when I think of buying one!
Blimey Miche - that Conor is never home! Wasn't he away a little while ago???
