I am having a really rotten week, daughter and son both giving me a really hard time. I haven't been overeating yet, but I can feel it coming. Stress binge in a big way. My weight isn't moving, surprise surprise. I think I'm going to clean my house and go to bed and maybe tomorrow will be a better day. but I doubt it. Glad to hear the rest of you are feeling motivated and doing well.

Hi all:

eating is still doing well--feeling more motivated and have more energy.

Card: dont do it! I so understand why but maybe you can find a really cool way to treat yourself that doed not include food--like get a massage or a pedicure or something that would be a great treat. And make sure you do have something great to eat that is on your plan--like have a wonderful high protein meal like shrimp or something that is still on your plan!

Dolly--I will think about it--I just read Where the Heart Is--by Letts. I liked it a lot. I will think of some others.

I hope everyone is doing well! DH and I have plans to go to Austin this weekend to visit some friends. I am so saving my cheat meal for Saturday night at the Melting Pot to get some chocolate fondue with fruit and marshmallows. My mouth is watering now.

card: Don't do it. Go for a walk or try some deep breathing. Inhale for 7 seconds, hold your breathe for 4 seconds, exhale for 8 seconds. Do this will your eyes closed. It will help you relax. Don't go for the food though, it will make you feel worse later.

Hello ladies. Hope you all are move'n and lose'n today. I made it to the gym and had a great workout. My arms are sore from this week's workouts. :strong: I get to take a break tomorrow. It is supposed to be my splurge day, but i might wait til saturday for splurge day, since i have to work tomorrow and there are no good places to eat around there. Hope i have a good weigh in tomorrow...i get SO nervous when it gets close to friday. I sure have worked hard at the gym, although, i feel like i could have done better on food, i didnt do too bad though.

Found my measuring tape in a drawer and thought, what the heck. Good news! I have lost 3.5 inches on my waist and 1.5 inches on my bicep since 9/26, about 3 weeks. Wish i had been measuring from the beginning. I was quite happy with that though. :carrot: I am going to try to measure every 2 weeks or so.

Dollypie- Melting Pot sounds like a yummy slurge. :T We have a new grocery store in my area that has a HUGE gourmet bakery...i will be hitting that up on my splurge day. The difference now...is that i will pick one slice of cake...not a box full of goodies...so that is a huge step for me.

Sno- Glad your doing well and on program this week. Doesnt it feel so good when you are on your game. My mind and body can tell when i am not doing what i should.

Card- That sucks about the week you are having. Just keep telling yourself, this too shall pass. Sending hugs and good wishes your way. :cheer2:  :cheer2: Stay strong honey. Giving in to a binge will make you feel even worse. How bout some healthy comfort food. Make yourself some chili with lean meat, or hearty veggie noodle soup, and for an indulgence, get a weight watchers desert...you will feel like you have a splurge without the guilt. Also when i get upset and stressed like that, i take it out on the elliptical. Burn cardio burn. The stress always feels less after a good cardio workout.

Ok ladies, hope we all have a great day.

card 10-19-2006 06:54 PM

Well I had a half a chocolate bar. That was it. I gave the other half to a friend of mine at work. I am very proud of myself for not giving in to a binge. My 16 year old daughter has decided she knows better than everyone and took all the beer out of my fridge and has decided she is moving out. My son was suspended from school. They haven't decided for how long yet. My ex and my dh's ex are both phoning like crazy, including at work, where I get in trouble for personal calls. I just want my kids to be 25. It has to be easier then. But today I am much calmer. I sent my son to his friend's house a few hours away for the weekend, just for the break. And my daughter is still at her friend's house and I will just leave her there for the weekend and deal with it all next week. Maybe after a few more days she'll figure out it's not all fun and games. Other than the half chocolate bar my diet is going well. I don't understand why I am not losing weight though. I am eating a quarter of what I used to eat and still the scale stays the same. Maybe stress just affects my body that way, I reallly don't know. But I am going to keep at it. Eventually my body will have to give.

I am really glad to hear the rest of you are keeping it up and I am happy you found your motivation again snow. Good luck on your weigh in get n healthy.

I will try to get on again tomorrow to check in on everyone.

Bertine 10-19-2006 08:11 PM

card: i think you did wonderfully with the chocolate bar. it is so much harder to not eat the other half when it is in your hands. i hope things calm down for you. ::hugs::

i got a migraine on monday, which means i have lost about 5 pounds since then, i am not sure how people that get them on a regular basis survive, no wonder my mom is only 110 pounds. anyways, i am doing better. i am not sure if i told you all this but my job got a lot better once i talked to my boss' boss. i hate doing things like that but i was sitting in an interview and i realized that there is very few thigns i would like working on as much as what we do here so i should actively try and make it work here. i have also been much better about bring snacks to work. i think i was turning to chips and candy because i didn't have anything else to eat at 3 pm.

i still love fitday. that is so awesome.

be well everyone!

Thursday Thursday

HI all:

sounds like some good success stories this week--I have had a good week so far except today I weighed myself and I was up 4 pounds--I think the yo-yo started, plus I am retaining water. It was hard not to completely give up. I just felt like I have completely changed my eating since last friday. Anyway, I had a lunch with some friends and did eat some off plan food-but I did not overeat. I felt good about that and so I am going to keep it very light for dinner tonight and pray that I did not screw things up completely.

I did feel more energetic--sloly but surely--it is coming back. I took a little walk with the dog--just 13 minutes but still--hope to build up.

Dolly; Hope you have a great time in austin--sounds like you have wonderful treat planned.

Stacy--you are doing so good on your workouts--and even if the scale is not good to you you know that you are doing great with all those inches lost.

Card--way to go--sometimes having a small something can really make all the difference. good job with keeping on plan. Sorry to hear about the hassles with the kids--I know it is hard and just keep you chin up!

Bertine--sorry about the migraine--that sounds awful! Not a good way to lose , huh! But at least you got something goood out of it!

Keep it it up and willl talk to you tomorrow !

So let me tell you about the guy at the gym's front desk who keeps me motivated to show up every morning at 5am. Do any of you know who Jack Lalane is the guy on the infomercials that sells the juicers and was a body builder back in his younger days. Well his twin is the morning person at our gym. He was on vacation all week, but back today. As I punched in my code. He said I see you didn't make it on Monday morning, but came Monday evening way to go and keep up the great work! He is always so friendly and know everyone by there name. He walks around on people's birthday and usually gets people that are close by to sing happy birthday. He is my motivation to show up every morning. If I can be like that when I am in my 70s life will be wondeful. Just thought I would share.

Sno: You are back on track, you didn't over eat that is good. New Year's is still 10 weeks away.

Bertine: I hope you are feeling much better. I had migraines for a while in college when I first got married. They were stress related and haven't had one in a long time. Now I just grind my teeth at night.

Card: Sorry to hear things aren't going too well at home. The weight probably won't come off because of all the stress, but it will. Great job on only eat half of the chocolate bar. I usually get the fun size ones, but then I have to hide the back out of site so I don't eat 10 of them.

GetnHealthy: I hope you have a great weigh in today! Way to go on losing those inches. The gym is really paying off.

Friday

Hello ladies. Started my day off with a great weigh in. Down 2.2...:goodscale so i am super pleased with that. I really didnt know if i was going to see any results today, just felt like i snacked a lot all week...the gym makes me hungry...gotta focus on getting that under control this week.

Dollypie- That front desk guy at your gym sounds great. :cheer: That is cool that he noticed you werent there one morning...very cool to be missed. I would LOVE to still be at the gym in my 70's...what an inspiration!

Sno- It is SO hard for me not to give up if i am having a bad week. I completely know what you mean. It is so hard to go on after you work so hard to get the scale down then you see it go up...it takes a lot of patience and persistence. I saw a quote the other day that was cool. It said, "motivation gets you started, desire keeps you going" ;) . I liked that a lot. Its probably just the sodium messing you up when you went a bit off plan with your friends the other day. I am sure it will be off in no time.

Bertine- Oooh a migraine. I had one once and it was so bad i threw up. My son gets them on and off. Just terrible. Glad your work is going better though.

Card- Good for you on a controlled splurge...only half a candy bar...that is terrific. :cp: That stress will wear you out and mess with your weight loss and metabolism. I usually get sick with the flu or a bad cold after that much stress. Stress just really messes up your whole body. Hopefully it will pass soon.

Hope you all had a good week, i am glad it is the weekend.

card 10-21-2006 10:16 AM

well I have decided to up my calories for a little bit to see if I can jump start my metabolism again. Maybe if I eat around 2500 for a week or two when I cut back again I can start losing weight again. Thank you all for your support last week when I had my mini breakdown. It has been a long time coming. So now that it is over I can get back to somewhat normal hopefully. Just 8 more years and all three kids will be over 20. If I can hang on that long.

Bertine - I know what you mean about the snacks, I try to bring a yogurt for the pm, it usually helps me. I am glad that your job is going better. I get migraines but I don't lose weight with them. I wish I did, I would be 110 pounds. I get them quite frequently, although eating every 3 hours has reduced them a great deal.

Snow - I know what you mean about the yoyoing, I cannot lose weight right now, the scale just keeps bouncing around between 203 and 208, most days I just want to scream. I still think that if I keep it up long enough the weight has to go somewhere.

dolly - I'm glad you found something to motivate you to go to the gym. Every little bit helps.

Get n - glad to hear you are down again. You are doing so well, you will be at your goal weight in no time.

Sunday

Hi all:

a little relapse on the cold--I did too much this week and kinda collapsed yesterday. The good news is that I have maintained eating properly. I have PMS--I can tell cause my bra is tight, so I expect to maintain my loss according to the scale tomorrow. We will see.

Had fun at Lane bryant the other day--I bought two orange tops--normally a color I dont like. One was more of a persimmon color--like a light red. It is a tank top with a fleur de lys pattern on it. The other has a low neck that is designed to wear a tank top under. Super cute! The sales girl was kinda cranky--wouldnt give me an extra discount that she could have.

And on the same day I went to get my hair cut. I am growing out my grey and not coloring and I missed the shininess of dyed hair. So she suggested a clear coat. It added a little shine. But I didnt realize until I got home that it really lightened my hair. I have very dark brown hair and now with the treatment it is a medium brown. I am vacillating as to whether to complain or not. I specifically checked with the girl before she did it to make sure my hair would not be colored.

Dolly--that is a cute story about Jack La Lanes twin. I remember he had a show when I was a kid and when I stayed with my grandma she would watch the show and do the exercises. He always seemed so upbeat and nice.

Stacy--fab! good job with the weight loss--you deserve it!

Card--I know how frustrating it can be to yo-yo--especially if you dont make any progress for a while. Good luck with increasing your cals!

Get n healthy 10-22-2006 07:05 PM

Its been a slow weekend here. I am officially 1/3 of the way to my goal. :carrot: I wanted to lose 90 pounds to get back to my previous weight loss, so at 30 pounds i am 1/3 of the way there. That sounds like i have made progress even when i dont feel like i have made progress.

Hope you all are having a good weekend. I had a super good workout today. :wl: I had one of those workouts where you could have kept going forever....i just love those days...wish i could have them more often. I was quite high in calories though, but i always am on the weekends. I was just shy of 2000 today...i am hoping that 500 that i burnt at the gym helps.

So since i had a bit of an indulgent day, maybe i should go ahead and outline my goals for the week.
1. Make it to the gym for a 1 hour workout 3 days this week. Do pilates or something like that the other 2 days of the week.
2. Keep calories below 1400, preferably around 1350. :dust: Which will be challenging but that is what happens when you have such a splurge of a weekend. Gotta keep things in balance.
3. Drink 8 glasses of water a day and 1 cup of hot tea.

Sno- With the cold holding on for this long, have you thought about getting some blood work done? Just seems like something might be wrong with your immune system or maybe an anemia problem. Hope you feel better soon. I LOVE Layne Bryant when i can afford it. I always wear like 2 sizes smaller in their clothes too. ha ha.

Card- You dont know how happy it makes me that i am not the only one that is on a, albiet long, count down til the kids are out of the house. :beach: I love them dearly but good greif. They can break, lose, or otherwise destroy any possessions you have. I am so tired of my things getting broken and lost...things that they arent even supposed to touch. Just the other day, allow me to rant for just a second, i bought a BUNCH of fresh flowers for the whole house...just two days later, someone had gone through the house and bent the heads of about 8 of the flowers down. No one will own up to it. But flowers dont just snap at the head all of a sudden. :bomb: I just dont get it. Then my dd wanted to know if scissors would cut leather (my Natuzzi leather couch to be exact)....what do you know...they do!!!! i could have DIED. :tantrum: At least she admitted it i guess. But Card just know...you are not the only one feeling the pangs of children.

Ok, time to go take a shower, put on a pot of tea, and get my flannel gown on.

dollypie 10-23-2006 10:50 AM

So I weighed in today and lost 3lbs, and I didn't even think I would lose anything. Had a good weekend and had a my cheat meal. Didn't make it to The Melting Pot b/c DH forgot to make reservations, but that's okay. We went to Macaroni Grill instead. I love all things cheesy and had the twice baked lasagna and the lemon passion dessert. When I went to looked up the calories just the lasagna was over 1400 calories and then add the bread I dipped in olive oil and the dessert. That is amazing that before I would have eaten that without any knowledge of the calorie content, know I am just amazed, in one meal I ate enough calories to feed me for two days. I am not going to worry about it though we all need to live on the edge even if that means splurging on cheesy lasagna! Workout was good this morning, but after five minutes on the treadmill I got a really bad stitch in my right side. I slowed down a bit and just a level 5 incline at a lower speed. That is weird it has never happened before. I think my biggest problem is that I am trying to start jogging a little on the treadmill and I don't know how to breathe properly. I feel like I am gasping for a breathe, but not out of breathe if that makes any since.

GetnHealthy: You are really working it at the gym and the results are showing. Way to go on being a 1/3 of the way to your goal. You are losing a the right pace to keep it off for good. I was finally able to put on winter PJs last night, we had our first true cool front. It felt good to sleep under all those blankets. Not too good this morning b/c we didn't turn on the heater....lol

Sno: Glad to hear you are still on track and haven't gained, you should be proud of yourself. Also glad to hear that you found clothes this weekend that you liked. I on the other hand shopped for three hours looking for pants and did not find any that I liked. Being 5'3" you are neither a petite or an average, but that inbetween height that no pants look good on you. It is such a downer that an average size 12 fits great, but I walk on the legs and the petite size 16 is still tight in the butt and legs and I look like I am wearing highwaters. I guess I am going to get the averages and just have them altered like before.

card: Good idea to try and up your calories to jump start your metabolism. Maybe that is what the lasagna did for me.

dollypie 10-23-2006 10:52 AM

Okay here are my goals this week:

1. Make it too the gym every morning and walk the dogs at least 3 times this week, they actually like the exercise...haha

2. Keep eating more veggies. At least two at every meal, if not more.

3. Eat whole grain carbs.

4. Clean the house!!!!!!!!!!!

Snowbrocade 10-23-2006 04:42 PM

Monday! 10 weeks to go!

Hi everyone!

It is amazing that time has flown so fast and we are nearing the end of the year! 10 weeks to go until new years.

I am learning a lot even if I am not losing as fast as I wanted. I guess it always goes that way. I have neither lost nor gained in the last week. I thought I would lose because I was way hungry this weekend--but I think I ate too many olives on Saturday and that may be making me retain more than usual. I have a feeling I may lose some by tomorrow. Anyway maintaining is part of the battle too.

My dream  for the upcoming week is to lose while on vacation. I know it is possible because in my twenties I would always lose on vacation--I usually did not eat except when I had an opportunity for an excellent meal. Maybe I can do the same thing here--stay low carb except when I have a really great meal ahead.

so my goal is to stay as low carb as possible all around and stay intuitive--eating only when hungry. I am thinking about taking a thermos of tea and a cooler with sodas and snacks on the train. A little overkill I know but the train is very tempting to chow down!

Yes--I appreciate all the concern about my health. My doctor has confirmed that my immune system is compromised by stress but has offered me no treatment or solutions other than psychotherapy, rest and exercise which I am doing. I just want to get well enought to get my flu shot. I do have an appointment coming up in a few weeks with a new doctor for a full physical and will explore with her futher options for my health.

Getn healhty: I am going to ask for some of that will power dust for my trip! I am really working on visualizing me eating less and exercising more on my trip and getting on the scale and it says 245! That would be a nice boost--particularly since next week is tom. It is so awesome that you have accomplished 30 % of your goal! You must be wearing like two sizes smaller! Super congrats on that and all your exercise--you are my role model!

Dolly: you are doing so great! Three lbs and you went out of town. you are my role model for the week! I will allow a cheat meal like you but make sure it is worth it. I love the bread with dipping sauce--I can eat only that all day.
I always have to alter my pants because I have a small waist in proportion to the rest of me. Lane byrant pants in particular seem to be made for people who are apples not pears like me. I have a great tailor who is expensive (25 bucks for waist take-in) but does it perfectly and you cant tell he did it even in my jeans.

Okay so here are my goals:

1. eat mindfully and watch the carbs
2. eat lotsa veggies
3. drink lotsa water
4. walk a little
5. have my cheat meal and then go back to plan
