Congratulations those of you who lost or stayed the same.
I didn't do my weigh in again this monday, will do it tomorrow. These 7-3 shifts are just too tough in the morning especially when one of the kids has volleyball practice. There were three of us leaving the house at 6:30 this morning. Dolly - I lost about 30 lbs with my second pregnancy. It only showed as a 10 lb loss on the scale going in but my son was 10 lbs and when I left the hospital I was 30 lbs lighter than I was when I got pregnant. Of course I craved raw vegetable with salt and the smell of bbq made me lose my lunch. I also couldn't look at raw meat, so I couldn't cook it. But I was perfectly healthy through the pregnancy even though a 10 lb baby put me at a high risk for gestational diabeties, I never develped it. Good luck everyone and I'll check in tomorrow after my weigh in. |
cold
Hi all:
I have a bad cold--sorry for not posting more--will get back to you soon! |
Really really bad news
My husband just called me about an hour ago and told me that he is being laid off at the end of December. I was shocked, mad, and sad all at the same time. I just don't know what we are going to do, we have just bought a house and the bill are really tight right now. I want to be supportive for him but I am emotionally a wreck now. There is so much going through my head. Any advice?
|
Dollypie- I am so sorry to hear that about your dh job. That can really put the stress on your shoulders. Are you currently working? I guess just be thankful they at least gave him notice. Maybe he can find something between now and then. Dont let it get you down too much. Something will come up. I will say a prayer for you. Oh, and congrats on the two pound weight loss. I have got to get a scale for food. I keep forgetting but i always wonder about the 4 oz versus 6 oz. of meat.
Sno- I thought you might still be under the weather. Get some rest and let us hear from you when you are feeling better. Card-Sounds like a busy morning, that gets busy WAY too early in the morning. :dizzy: Let us know how your weigh in goes. Bertine-Good for you on another pound:cp: . Sounds like very steady progress. I have done well this week after a not so great weekend. My heel spurs are killing me today and my hip joints but i am really going to try to get on that ellipitical. I am just going to pad up my heels and have the "no pain, no gain" mentality. Not doing so great on water. Left my water bottle at home this morning, so i have to keep filling my coffee cup with water, which is not that often. I am just really hoping to move that ticker this friday. Two weeks ago i was at 260.6, then i lost 0.6, so i still didnt get to move my ticker. Since this weeks loss wasn't so much, i will just add it in to this next coming weigh in, which will hopefully show quite a bit more of a loss. I am keeping my fingers crossed for the 250's, i am sick to death of the 260's...and that 0.6 just really griped my butt....just barely not enough to move the dang ticker. But oh well...just makes me work all the harder to move that ticker this week. |
Where has everyone gone?????
Sno: I hope you are feeling a little bit better and not worse. I took your advice and my Mom and I planted a lot of spinach in her garden for the fall on top of the usuals. GetNHealthy: Thanks for the words of encourage meant, I am trying to be the cheerleader for my husband. Things always tend to workout for the best, it was just a blow yesterday. How did the elliptical go? Not much going on today. I had to take the dog to the vet today during work because she had knee surgery about six weeks ago. She is making a good recovery and has lost 2lbs, way to go Dixie. The good news was my boss let me bring her to work afterwards, so the rest of the day was great. I wonder if he would let me do that every day...yeah right, our hypocrondriac in the office says are allergies are acting up, but that is every Friday at around 3 o'clock too. Oh well...tonight a long walk and watering the flowerbeds. |
What a week
Well I've had a loss this week but not through anything that I did.
My sister in law had a breakdown and ended up in Mental Health Services. My nieces have been split between my MIL and us, we ended up with the nearly fifteen year old. We have no idea how long it's going to be for, needless to say I'm a wee bit stressed. I have no idea what to do with this girl. Luckily she is still having contact with both her Mum and Dad so it's not just down to us what happens to her. But it's still scary. Luckily it's school holidays here so it means she can settle in without having to worry about school. I never understood people who said they lost weight when stressed cause I always put it on but I guess I've never had real stress before. I'm only just starting to eat properly again now, I hope I don't blow the good start that I've had. I'd like to take this opportunity and build on the weight loss. |
gosh dolly I went thru 3 layoffs in 6 years. I want to encourage you, each time I ended making more money at the new job. Same thing with almost all my friends. A great thing to do is to start an on the job networking support group. Get everyones emails and keep in touch, so if one gets a job they recommend coworkers at the new place. You can also post job openings you hear about. I think for most people its a scary time but at the same it can be invigorating getting out of your rut.
chaarli thank goodness you're able to step in and help this girl. Do you have kids of your own? I've had a hellish week. I'm such a mess. I'm doing the best I can with food, my period is here too. So I'm up 2lbs. |
Stacy you're almost to the 250s!! I bet you cross the line by next Monday.
|
Well, the scale shows i am down .02 for tomorrows weigh in so i am drinking like a fish today, hoping my fairy fat mother can come and get another couple of pounds tonight while i am asleep. She has been slacking lately, ha ha. I have done really well and been on my game this week. Didn't get to do my elliptical yesterday, laid laminate flooring for 3 hours instead. But honestly, i missed the stress release of my cardio workout. :bike: So i am going to make a point to do the ellipitical today and then finish up the remodeling of my bedroom AFTER the ellipitical.
Watched Biggest Loser last night and i was kind of surprised at who they kicked off. I would have booted the one who lost the least but maybe % wise the one they booted lost the least. I dont know, i am no math whiz and i was tired. But anyway. NAW-Oh my gosh, i know i am SO close to the 250's, believe me, i am sick to death of the 260's. It nearly killed me last week to go from 260.8 to 260 even...i was just thinking, "you have got to be kidding me?!?!?"...i couldnt even move my ticker or anything. So this week, i have been working my butt off to get that ticker to move. Stay strong, TOM week is always the devil. Chaarli- It is so wonderful that your family is banding together through this difficult time. That has to be hard on all involved. Try not to let your calories get too low. At least you are losing through this stress. Like you said, i usually eat my way through stress too, but i have found there are different kinds of stress that trigger different things. I will keep you all in my prayers. Dollypie-I was wondering where everyone had went off to aswell. My dog had knee surgery a couple of years ago, her ACL was torn and they had to repair it, she had a great recovery. That is SO cool your boss let you bring her to work with you. I would LOVE to do that. You are so funny about your hypocondriac coworker...Fridays at 3 huh? That is too funny. Ok gals, off to work. Hope you all have a great on program day! |
Getting better
Hi all:
wow this cold really kicked my butt. I am still pretty sick but figured I need to post again because i have been using my cold as an excuse to eat whatever I want. Could be partly PMS too. I have a reasonable eating plan set out in fitday and I am just going to get back on it--will postpone weighing for a while--that is too scary. Dolly--sorry to hear about your problems--my hubby was laid off in feb and he was then disabled so he hasnt worked for six months! somehow things are working out but it is hard. Nancy--say more about your hellish week--I know I must be up more than 2! that is easily taken care of. Stacy--keep it up--you are doing great. I know with all that exercise and eating well you will be where you want to be--you will probably have a woosh! Chaarli: that is so hard--and it is great for you niece that she has you to count on. Hang in there--I know these kind of things are really hard for the family. I hope you have some good people to talk to about what is going on for you. It is great your sister is getting help. |
Just a quick hello to everyone today! I hope everyone is sticking to there plan. I have been having some terrible urges to eat everything in the house...emotional and stress cravings. I have been holding them at bay for the past two days, hopefully I can make it through today. Last night I wanted something real salty, like potato chips. I made a tomato and avocado salad with lime juice. I did add extra salt to kill my craving though, at least it had a healthy fat. I even saved some for today at lunch, but it looked so good for breakfast so I ate it. Tonight Mom and I are going to plant some cabbage and broccoli plants...I can't wait until March. I just think homegrown veggies are so much better. It is probably because you put the investment in them so you will eat them. We might try brussel sprouts this year, but I don't think it stays cool enough, we'll see.
Sno: You must have a killer of a cold, hope you feel better! chaarli: sorry to hear about your sister in law. congrats on the one pound loss, even if it is stress related. My DH who was laid off, has practically eaten nothing for two days and has lost his appetite and this is way out of the norm. He is usually on two hour feedings is seems like. nawchem: Thanks for the pick me up. Don't you hate TOM, the bloating is the worst. GetNHealthy: My dog had the same surgery. She is recovering well, just tired of being in her kennel all the time when we are not home. She usually has free roam of the backyard and misses it. I watched the Biggest Loser last night too. I so wish the Blue Team would have won the reward. They just seem so much more of a team. I was upset the girl from Texas got voted off, being from Texas and all. It is remarkable to see the people at home doing so well though. I sure they are set up with personal trainers and nutrionists to help. I'd take that help in a heart beat. Oh yeah, the hypocondriac has doctors appointment and won't be into work tomorrow |
Morning chickie, well the scale and i are friends again. 2 pounds lost this week. :goodscale So i am happy with that. Puts me at 12 pounds lost towards are challenge. So not only was i able to move that ticker, but also able to add a new dragonfly, at 26 pounds total (one for every 5 lbs). I am happy this morning. Had a nsv earlier in the week i can now wear my jeans that i was not able to wear for the past 2 years. :carrot:
Dollypie- I think home grown veggies are so good because they are picked when they are ripe, they can soak up all the suns nutrients and flavor. You know those supermarket veggies and fruit are picked WAY too early. Tomatos are picked when they are still green and then usually subjected to chemicals to make them turn red...no wonder they are tasteless. I have a garden too. I LOVE planting and growing stuff. It is a really good way to get your kids to eat their fruits and veggies too. That is too funny about the friday doctors apt. We have a girl like that at my work as well. She called in sick on monday, now she is supposed to be on call all this weekend and she called in sick today and said she would be too sick to be on call all weekend. To top it off the idiot boss said, it was okay, she is the most loyal employee we have...idiot bosses amaze me. :dizzy: Sno-When i have a week like you have i postpone weighing for a while too...i am just too afraid it will depress me to the point of a binge. Better to wait about 4 days. Hope you are feeling better. Naw-You were right. Finally, i made it to the 250's. Where is everybody?:gossip: ...come on now. |
Yah Stacy!!! Congratulations on the 250s and now you've got more clothes to wear.
         What is nsv? My wt is up. I am now back to hypothyroid, increased my medicine today hopefully this tired feeling will go away soon. For Mondays weighin my goals are: 1. track cal and carbs 2. walk, yoga and abs 3. bake something healthy to knosh on sno are you ever coming back? My house is in foreclosure with 2 prospective buyers but the title thing is still a mess, not sure I can get that fixed and the house sold before the foreclosure. |
Ready for the weekend...
Howdy everyone!
Thank goodness it's friday. DH and I are going to visit his parents this weekend. They live on a farmette (that's what i call it), just a few goats, sheep, chickens, pigs, and ducks. They recreational farm for fun, not actually producing anything. They actually got turkeys a few weeks ago, but they are to look at and not eat. DH and his Dad are going to shoot skeet, this will give them time just to be boys. DH really needs this after the week he has had. I am really blessed to get along great with my MIL, we will probably work in her garden or head to town and go grocery shopping for her. I lover her to death, but she is a reason why people should not be overweight...two knee replacements, bad back, and tired all the time. It is all a weight issue and she doesn't believe it. I can guarantee that Sunday morning she will be up to fry bacon and eggs, then cook pancakes in the bacon grease. I am taking my own fruit, because there will none in the house and going to eat a bowl of cereal. I think all that grease would make my stomach go into shock. I hope everyone else has a great weekend! GetnHealthy: I bet it was great to zip up those jeans. I have mine hanging in the closest wear I can see them. Sno: Glad to see you are back Nawchem: If you Yahoo lowfat pumkin muffins, a recipe from 24hr fitness comes up. I made them this week for breakfast and they were great! You don't have to add the cranberries if you don't like them. I wanted something different and gave them a try. |
Dolly glad you and DH are getting a break to relax. I bet it will do your mind a world of good. I know what you mean about mil, it really hurts to see what obesity does to a body over time. thanks for the recipe idea, I love things with pumpkin. When I was at my heaviest my knees, ankles and lower back hurt all the time. One day I took notice that the pain had disappeared.
I am here to brag I have walked 10 miles in 24 hours. I had so much stress energy it was going to be eating or walking. |
