:D Good Morning Everyone:D
We had our first frost this morning and was it chilly! Not alot of people were at the gym this morning, most a probably headed out of town already. Oh well, I was there. Did 30 minutes on the treadmill and 15 minutes on the recumbent bike. I have been trying to incorporate the bike into my routing two days a week. I don't seem to get the aerobic workout, but the next day my thighs and butt sure do feel it. Today we have our Thanksgiving Luncheon at work and it is PotLuck, so I brought a fresh veggie tray. Hey someone needed to bring something healthy. Here is my plan. I am going to be one of the last people to go through the line so all the good fattening stuff is already gone. I am going to go for the lean turkey breast and veggies. Who know maybe all of the desserts will be gone too and I won't get any. It will also be good to socialize with alot of the people I never see, so talking will keep my mouth empty. markieposter: I aim to keep my calories below 1500 everyday w/ 30% proteing, 30% fat, and 60% carbs. Most of my carbs come from veggies and fruit too. I try to limit myself to no more than 3 servings of bread a day and then two of them have to be whole wheat. Have you tried whole wheat pasta? It has definetly increased in palatablity for me in the past few years. DH actually prefers whole wheat pasta to regular now, just cook it to al dente though. If cooked too long it will turn into mush. 40 before 40: I understand your troubles and I have been there...about sticking to a plan for more than 3 days. I once had a coach way way back in high school and she was a very motivating person. She always told us that to change towards good habits you have to do something for 14 day (2weeks) everyday and think about. At the end of two weeks then it will seem like an old habit. The key is to pick something small things and make slow changes. card & Get n healthy: I agree with markieposter, we all need " super-human determination" this time of year. Here's a sprinkle of :dust: |
Hi guys!!! I am still trying to make my scale budge. Hopefully it will be down by Thanksgiving day. I know I wont make my Thanksgiving goal, but I am trying to narrow the gap. I have been eating 1500 calories per day, rather than cycling. I don't know why, it just sort of happened, but apparently I can't lose at that amount, Even with an average of 60 minutes a day exercising. I am getting a little discouraged, because I have been more hungry lately than I have been in a while. TOM better not come early again!

Happy Tuesday!
Hi all:
well I had a little woosh on the scale since yesterday--am down two more lbs--and am very excited. :dancer: I want to list it so that I have as much motivation as possible to keep that weight off and lose more by Thanksgiving. Dolly: 30 by 2007. 26 down, 4 to go! Stacy: 32 by 2007. 21 down, 11 to go! Markie: 10 by 2007. 4 down, 6 to go! Jeni: 12 by 2007 Brenda: 15 by 2007 Nina: 16 by 2007 Sno: 25 by 2007, 14 down 11 to go! Sojourner: 18 by 2007, 12.5 down, 5.5 to go! It makes my goal toward New Years that much more viable. Eleven lbs in 6 weeks seems really doable. It must be all the :dust: :dust: :dust: :dust: :dust: Nina: keep it up--I know those cookies can be hard to resist! Dolly: wow--4lbs--:carrot: and good plan for the thanks giving buffet. Markie: I need your help with the xmas shopping--and congrats on you loss:carrot: Card: see all my posts at the beginning of this challenge--I went through just what you are going through. I know it is really hard to get the motivation to change eating habits--I think it is one of the hardest things ever to do. Dont be discouraged--you are not the only one. At least you are trying--and you didnt let your weight get as high as mine!! At least working on it at the weight you are is keeping you from really gaining. Keep posting and keep putting down the reasons you want to lose weight. I was just thinking this morning about how humiliating it was for me to go on a plane this last summer and the seatbelt was almost too tight for me to fasten. I didnt want my husband to see so I pulled it real tight and forced it in. It is stuff like that keeping me going! Jeni: keep going--you are doing everything you need to do to lose weight--the results will come--maybe not when we want them to but they will! Have a great day everyone! |
Okay so I did really well with the Thankgiving lunch, that is the main course. Turkey and lots of veggies. I did then have a small spoon of banana pudding and then a small slice of poppy seed cake (it was to die for). I shouldn't of had the dessert, but to make up for it I will walk the dogs when I get home form work and then have a salad for dinner.
Sno: Great job on losing 2 more lbs. jcatron: Be patient, if you are stressed that can keep the pounds from coming off. Are you drinking plenty of water? |
Snow, way to go, girl!!! :flow2: So happy your scale has dropped again. I believe you're going to make that New Year's goal!
Jeni, if you are eating 1500 calories and exercising an hour daily, as well, I am convinced your body is turning loose of fat and re-shaping, and you're gaining muscle. It just isn't showing on the scale yet. You HAVE to be losing ... don't get discouraged. One of these days, that scale will drop 2 or 3 pounds, and shock you. I know this from my own experience. As I said above, I can be really good for two weeks, scale doesn't move ... then BANG! Off it comes ... :) Dolly, you did GREAT at lunch! Way to go ... It's not like you ate half a dish of each dessert; you did it the right way! I'm sure your dogs love it when you think you've overeaten ... so many walks! :D Oh, yes, Dolly, I agree that the new wholewheat pastas are much improved. After I use up the white pasta in my pantry, I'm going to try eating WW again. I'm a pasta nut! :dust: for us all! |
water
Hi all:
I think Dolly brought up a really good point--one thing that I think is key in my weight loss is lotsa water--I try to at least have 100 ounces a day if not a full gallon. It really makes a difference. It takes a few days to get used to going to the ladies all the time but the body adjusts. Also drinking diet sodas can stall weight loss--when I really want to push for weight loss I avoid them like the plague--there is something that causes the body to treat them like sugar which can interfere with weight loss. Anyway--my two cents for stalls. thanks for the support, Makrie! I am happy. And Dolly congrats on a successful lunch. It sounds perfect--just enough treats so you dont feel deprived. Keep it up ladies! |
Back at 210 this morning, and didn't walk the dog last night. It is just so cold here. Only my daughter knows I am still trying to lose weight. My dh feels threatened and sabatoges. I reallly don't think it is on purpose but who knows. He says I'm not fat. I do love his blind moments. The younger two children really don't care one way or another, they just don't want it to interfere with their lives. My oldest daugher is my best supporter. I think I am going to buy workout videos. She has a dvd player in her room so I can work out in there. Or my son's room, he's usually upstairs anyway. His room is in the basement. I have been thinking about it and fall has always been when I put on 20 lbs. So to have only put on 7 this year is not too bad. I am just going to have to work extra hard to take off more than 20 in spring and see if I can't take off little bits during the winter. My body shuts down during winter, conserving energy I guess. I will not let my weight depress me into an eating binge. I will not let my weight depress me into an eating binge. If I stick with it I will eventually lose. My biggest motivater is the family reunion next summer. I will not be in plus clothing. I may not make it to my goal weight by then but I will not be in plus clothing.
Thanks to all of you for the support and you are all right, the weight will move when it is ready, not when I am ready for it to go. i just have to be strong and stick with my plan, I did lose weight, just very slowly. I had a so-so eating day yesterday. A little to much mid-afternoon, but recovered for supper and didn't overdo it. And I only had a bit of yogurt when dh was scarffing down 3, yes 3 chocolate bars. Have a good day everyone and good luck. |
Ditto what you said card about, "I will not let my weight depress me into an eating binge"...isnt that such a crazy irony that we eat to comfort us because we weigh too much. I just dont get it, but i do it often.
Well we are off to Grandmas for the holidays. See you guys next saturday. |
Well it is definitely been a challenge this week.... thank God its half over although I will be sad when my sister and family leave. But the garbage food is killing me! I have had to deal with tacos, lasagna, fried chicken, french fries, pizza, chocolate chip cookies, popcorn, and restaurants. :( And now tomorrow is Thanksgiving. I have been tracking my food all week and have done pretty well considering the circumstances. I went over about 500 - 600calories this last WW week total, so that isn't too bad. I restart today but I still have to face the holiday weekend. And then of course its ttom so that just makes me feel icky and bloated. I have been managing to do some exercise... mostly walking the dog... but can definitely tell I am not at the gym. No weight gain though so I guess I just need to stay the course.

Thanksgiving challenges--5.5 weeks to go--Newbies Welcome!
Hi all:
Great to hear from you all--I know it is really a challenging time for us all--as Card points out winter time is the time that most of us gain--I want to curl up in front of the fire and drink hot chocolate and eat toast! But no way--most of my pants are baggy now though I am not quite down to the next size--I want to find some of those mini-suspender clippy things that I could cinch inthe waist of my clothes temporarily. Anyway I am off low carb--I cant stay on it too long or I get very low energy. will count calories today and tomorrow will be my free day. I was up 1 lb today to 241--and I had a great day yesterday. So a little yo-yo ing. My goal is to be 240 by next monday. I think if I have a free day tomorrow and go back on low carb fri, sat, sun I can do it I think. Also just really drink lots of water and Red Zinger, and keep up the exercise. I have now been exercising every day since Nov 12 and have a goal to keep it up until the end of the year--at which time I hope it will be habit! :running: Today I have some pies to bake and some things to list for sale on E-bay. I also have to wash the dog and take my walk. Tomorrow I am just driving two hours away to see my in-laws for dinner and am planning on stopping at Kmart on the way and checking out the sale. Anyway--lets keep it going as much as we can--and if we go wild just come back and start over! :dust: :dust: :dust: Card: good to hear from you--sounds like not wanting to be plus size anymore is a big motivator--I hear you. I was at a store yesterday and the pants I really wanted were on sale but the largest size is 16. I wanted them so bad but it just seemed to small yet. Yep--I just looked up a size chart--size 16 is 34 waist and 45.5 hips--I am 38 waist and 52 hips--so 4 inches on waist and 6.5 inches on hips to be a 16. That could take a while! Still a good goal. Take care and dont be too hard on yourself--as you so rightly pointed out you could be gaining a lot right now! Sojo: hang in there buddy--I know it is hard--that sounded like some awesome food! You can do it! |
Well DH should be home shortly and off to the in-laws. Tonight we are having pizza so I have watched my calories for the day and will be able to fit it in. Thin and crispy pepperoni. I am taking some fresh chopped veggies left over from the work luncheon so that will help fill me up. I wish every a Happy Thanksgiving!
Sno: I would go ahead and try on those size 16s, they just might fit. I could wear a 14 with those measurements. When I don't eat enough carbs I tend to get very tired as well and my body tells me. Sojourner: That's great that you haven't gained. You are really doing great watching what you are eating and walking the dog. Hey it might not be your normal routing but every little bit helps right. Getnhealthy: I have you have a great trip and a safe drive! card: The cold definetly gets me down too. Although today it is a great 70 degrees outside. Early in the morning it is so bad to get out of bed and head to the gym. With your determination you will NOT be wearing plus size clothes to your family reunion. |
I was playing with my son's weights today. that is definitely doable. I could use the weights twice a week and find an aerobics tape for 3 days. My goal for this weekend is to find and aerobics tape. or 5. I am feeling a lot more positive today. I can do this. Slowly but surely wins the race, every size down counts and every pound down counts.
Get n - good luck at grandma's. It can be a tough place to be on a diet. Sojo - congratulations on the will power. You are doing great!!!! Snow - it is great to hear about your clothes. I love that getting loose feeling too. My hips will fit into the 16s but my waist is no where near. The two are almost the same. But when I do lose weight I lose it from my waist. Dolly - Good work saving calories. You are doing fantastic. Keep it up. I just want to wish you all luck at Thanksgiving and I hope you all have a wonderful, low calorie time. |
Happy Thanksgiving
Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends:thanks2: Hope you all have a relaxing holiday. I have house guest arriving today for the weekend so will be pretty busy until Saturday evening. I'm going to focus on calorie counting
because I know there is no way I'll be able to avoid some of the temptations I'm going to be cooking. Card you sound very motivated. Good for you. I'm going to sponge up some of that positive attitude. If your looking for exercise videos there's a web site called beachbody.com that has many different series. I have tried a couple of them and they're all pretty good. Turbo jam is really intense. But theres one thats called slim in 6 that is pretty good and it has exercises that are muscle building as well as aerobic. Have a great weekend everyone. I'll check in saturday. Nina |
Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving!:thanks1:
Enjoy the day everyone--it is 7am here and I am going to walk before I leave for the inlaws. Yesterday I ended up just eating what I wanted but was surprised at how much my stomach was shrunk--I really couldnt eat all that much without being stuffed!:thanks2: Any way--I will be back on the plan :dust: tomorrow after todays feast!:turkey: I think I will try to have an extra walk today after the dinner if I can. :turkey: Take care and have fun! Snow :happ3: |
Weight loss is just so strange! I have been eating more than usual and exercising less since Friday when my sister and her family arrived... also ttom. I usually weigh in at home on Monday mornings but I stepped on the scale to see if there was any damage. I couldn't believe it... down a pound since Monday! Well its not an official weight but I was certainly happy to see that my body responded positively to a little extra calories and rest. Now granted I definitely haven't been pigging out all week... only about 600 calories high for the whole week so far. Just goes to show it pays to mix things up a little bit.
So unfortunately I face TWO Thanksgiving meals today  :tantrum: which really sucks. Then I just have to make it through the weekend and life will be back to normal Monday. Happy Thanksgiving to all our American friends... enjoy family, friends, AND food! |
