I thought of more to say....

I think its like this woman that had gastric surgery and got thin said, she was just at the beginning of the real struggle to learn to manage her wt because the stomach slowly stretches back out.

CH4Health, how funny is it. I stopped taking BC pill just last week. My DH and I want to start trying to have our first soon. We are both sort of giddy and scared but I guess no one is prepared. I did speak to my doctor, when I received my horrible cholesterol news, and she said the best option is to continue the exercise and healthy diet. She said continuing to shed pounds before pregnancy is a good idea. Once it does happen then to try and maintain my weight or only gain 15 pounds. I am new to all of this so I am a little naive.

Sno: I had a friend who had gastric bypass and lost over 100lbs. It did strain our relationship at first because she was very scared because she was a different person. She felt very uncomfortable because she thought people were always looking at her differently. She actually went to counseling and is doing much better. Also she has been going to a nutritionist so she will not gain the weight back by stretching her stomach. She can only eat like 1 cup of food at a time. I don't think I would ever choose this option, too drastic.

"i am going to win out over my primal body fighting me. "

Ms Healthy--I feel exactly the same way--I was kinda freaked out when I first read this like I can never do it, but now I just feel like I am better prepared that I know why this happens and that it is really hard to overcome but I can do it--other people have and so can I.

"is the defense mechanism mental or physical or both? Like a survival instinct? I must have a strong desire to survive if that's the case."

Nancy--as I understand it is a survival instinct that is entirely physical but can affect us mentally too--like the body says--"Red alert, our total weight has now gone below 7% so that means that we have to get busy and get more food and gain it back pronto cause we are starving, and put our metabolism on low!" Like that.

Yeah--my friend had the lap band and she has completely shrunk, it kinda hurts in a way that I still have to shop in plus and she can wear a size twelve, but I am happy for her too. But she says the same thing that she has to deal with her feelings without food and it is really hard.

Wow dolly I didn't know it was safe to not gain wt during pregnancy.

I've had to diet this week. I feel like I haven't had my usual comforts, just to get back to the wt I was last Monday.

Well I'm not losing much wt but I've lost some inches. Since 7/15 I'm down 7lbs.

Hello

I am doing great - excited about my weigh-in Tuesday.

dollypie - Congrats on getting ready to try for a baby. I will see my doctor on 10/3. I'm not anticipating any health problems, since I've not had any yet. I am about 30lbs overweight though, so it will be tough not being able to lose anymore. I imagine my dr. will also say not to gain much. My plan is to continue eating very healthy, which is great for the baby anyway, and continue exercise for as long as I can. Good luck and keep us posted!

nawchem - Thanks! I will stick around! ALso, WTG on the inches lost!!! I haven't measured myself in a while, but I think I will next week.

The Fat Smash is going well. I finally posted my veggie chilli on the Fat Smash Recipe forum. If anyone wants, I can post it here as well.

I ran 45m last night and am takign today off. I will try for a run early Saturday morning before DD's soccer game. I know if I don't do it early before her game I may not get it done.

Friday

Whew! am I tired--did a big housecleaning thing today and am now exhausted. Eating was okay--not that great yesterday. I am going away this weekend and am a little concerned about that--it always tends to be more towards feasting when I travel. I wil do the best I can--tired now!

Good morning! What a wonderful Sunday morning! I was able to turn off the A/C this morning and open the windows. That just makes me feel so good, I love the fresh air. The A/C will probably come back on late this afternoon, but I am going to enjoy it as much as I can. I made lowfat pumkin muffins this morning and they were so good, did I mention that fall is my favorite season. Even my DH ate them, boy was that a surprise. I will have one left for breakfast all next week. Yesterday was a good day even though DH wanted to go to Johnny Carino's for dinner, I ended up having the Chicken Gorgonzola salad with a sundried tomato vinagrette. It was really good, I even asked them to put half of the amount of vinagrette as usual. I don't like all that dressing on my salad.

Sno: I can totally relate on going out of town and not sticking to my food plan. Make sure you take some fruit and nut though to snack on through out the day. That away you won't be famished at lunch or dinner and over eat.

nawchem: That is great! You have made some milestone in inches lost. Keep up the great work!

trob: Goodbye 200s! Just think you never have to see them again! Congrats!

CN4Health: I am going to try your veggie chili later this week.

Bertine 09-25-2006 01:03 AM

trob, that is great!!!

i am behind on reading, however, i have been trying to drink more water, i am not sure how you do it sno.

this weekend i didn't eat that well, today was the worst i have eaten since i started this. oh well, i'll be back on track tomorrow and my sister has decided that she is going to try fat smash with me starting tomorrow. i am happy for this because it is easier to do things with her.

Good morning ladies. Hope you all had a good weekend. Mine was busy, busy. We started remodeling my master bedroom. All that is left is the floor. It looks lovely, like an english bed and breakfast...very cool. I wanted it to be my hideway. Unfortunately, with my bedroom being my priority, my eating was not. So, i had my usual splurge on friday, but then saturday was healthy food but poor portion control, although lots of exercise and lots of water. Then sunday was about the same as saturday. I am just going to say, i may not have made any progress with losing weight over the weekend but i dont think i did anything to gain either...no sweets or anything like that. Just poor portions. That is okay, back on my game today. :drill:

Naw-Wow, good job on the inches lost. :bravo: That is super impressive. I need to get a good measuring system in place. I always wonder, am i measuring in the same place, am i pulling the tape measure just a bit tighter this time, etc. I think i will measure right at my navel (got that idea from you) and then i can be sure i am measuring the same place every time.

Sno-How was your weekend out of town? Did you go anywhere exciting? I LOVE to travel. Unfortunately, like you mentioned, mine tends to be geared toward feasting as well. I dont know how to fix that...i keep putting off vacations and stuff because everytime i go out of town i get WAY off track. Hope you had more strength that i usually do.

Trob-Way to go, :cp: wow, what an accomplishment.

Dollypie-MMMM pumpkin muffins. Good job on going out to eat and opting for something healthy.

Bertine-Glad you have support with your fat smash program.

Ok, i am down 0.6 for my weekly weigh in, hoping this week will be better, but i am still happy with the 0.6, at least it is in the right direction, no matter how slow.

Bertine 09-25-2006 10:41 AM

this morning my weigh-in was at 183.3, so i lost another pound. i am happy since i really blew it this weekend.

have a great day everyone. :)

Snowbrocade 09-25-2006 11:55 AM

whooops!

Hi all:

well my little trip is going to cost me I know. I basically had a feasting weekend, I didnt drink water and I didnt exercise! I havent had courage to get on the scale yet because I feel really bloated.

The positive from the experience is that I ate less than I have in the past--I am getting more sensitive to being too full--I shared food with the hubby and I took food home with me. Still, it was way too much and very rich food.

I need to figure out how to go out of town without doing this! Or maybeit is okay to do this because it keeps the metabolism going?

In addition I have a cold. I think I will stay in bed and drink broth all day.

Sno

PS--I just went to San Luis Obispo which is about 1.5 hours away

Weighin Day

Well it's Monday and time for another weigh in. I am happy to announce that I have lost another 2lbs. I am so excited:carrot: My goal this past week was to stick with it and not fall of the bandwagon and it worked. I was extra careful on what I ate and how much I exercised. So onto another week, I can make it. I found that if I make these small goals and accomplishments that I feel more motivated to continue.

:D Goal for this week: Portion control, use the food scale.

The food scale has become one of my new best friends. It has really taught me portion control. I can pretty much tell by sight now what 4oz. of chicken looks like. Before I started what I thought was 4oz was really about 6oz, alot of extra calories were added and I didn't even know I was getting.

Sno: I hope you feel better. Take a nap for me:yawn: ! That's good that your stomach is getting more sensitive. Mine has as well, but then it is a mental thing for me. I know I am full, but my brain keeps telling me to eat more, I have to be really conscious of what my body is telling me. It is really hard to get out of that "clean your plate" mentality. Why can't restaurants just give you half as much food and charge you half the price?

Bertine: Way to go on the 1lb lose:carrot: Just get back on track and do some extra cardio this week.

Get n healty: It sounds like you did alot of work this weekend. Don't beat yourself up, at least it was all healthy stuff that you ate. That is a step in the right direction!

trob 09-25-2006 06:49 PM
