Snow, wanna come do my place now? With my new shifts the place is falling down around my ears and my dh wants me to help him put in a floor this weekend at a family member's place. so much for catch up. Oh well if I work late tonight and late tomorrow night after we get home I may get it done before Sunday. then I can rest Sunday night. I wonder how many calories installing laminate flooring burns?? Well good luck on the weekend ladies and I'll check in if I get a chance.

Hey ya all,
Bertine I was wondering why you would gain so fast. I had a real fast gain 2 years ago 45lbs and it was my thyroid. I also worked at a job that was very stressful and loaded with junkfood. They ended up having a big layoff. It was the happiest day when I left that job. I feel silly that I put up with it so long.

sno I'm impressed with how well you're keeping to the diet with pms. It always makes me feel like eating everything in sight. I read an organic recipe for spiders. You put vinegar diluted in a spray bottle with a little coconut oil. I sprayed around in the corners and window sills and also on spiders and it kills them outright. I'm allergic to pesticides and arachniphobic. In grade school I thought Charlottes Web was a horror story. :D

Amazing things have been happening in my life. The power of prayer I think???
I did downright awful yesterday, but back on track today. I had turnips today- my first time, they are so awesome!

golfsalot I was so impressed with how your dealing with your dad. I so admire grace under stress. Where do you get your strength?

Fri-day!

Card--Urgh--no more cleaning for me--thats all I have to do for about a year, right?

How did you prepare turnips, Nawchem? I have never had them.
Actually we also have other bugs too--we live in stark country and the place is not that well insulated so we have to bomb at least once a summer or we are covered with bites etc. Scorpions, wasps, spiders, beetles, etc etc.

I have kinda gone up and down actually on the diet with the PMS--sorta one day right on target, the next up about 400 cals. It has been kinda hard.

Nawchem--good to hear some wonderful things are happening=about time right!

trob 09-09-2006 09:38 AM

dolly- my goal is 10,000 steps a day, my job just has me doing a lot more. i am an art teacher at three different public schools and i never sit down from 7:15-3:45.

down another pound here!! i guess is was just water gain last weekend. gotta run will try to get caught up with everyone later this weekend.

:carrot: go trob!!! one pound closer to goal!

sno you can prepare turnips just like you would a potato, but their lower in calories and lowcarb. I think it was 17cal/half cup. Some people can taste a bitter taste to them, but I didn't. I sliced the turnip in thin slices like potato chips rolled them in olive oil and baked in the oven until crispy. It was divine.

I changed my thyroid medication a little tiny bit, on my own and I feel so chipper and in a good mood. This is the first time the scale has moved in 11 months. I got my thryoid tested last week so I'll see how it goes.

The first snow fell yesterday!!! I live in the Rockies, its at 10,000 feet, I'm only at 6000 feet, but it got me excited for Christmas!

Saturday

Hey trob--good job. And it is nice if you can get your exericse done at work.

Nancy--I will try the turnips. sounds good. I am imagining you savoring your turnip slices and watching the snow come down. Fun!

Oddly enough it is a little chilly here, which is unusual for CA in Sept--it can be our hottest month. I cant say I am sorry--it got too hot for me earlier! I am cooking moroccan style lentils and beans.

Hello ladies, hope you all are having a good weekend. I did okay yesterday. Today i have done really well though. I dont know what got into me but i scrubbed the house for an hour...like broke a sweat, cardio, cleaned the house. Then went to walmart and walked around for an hour (spent way too much money in the process), then did 20 minute core secrets video, then 30 minutes on the elliptical. I have NEVER done 30 minute after a 20 min video. So i am totally pumped and happy right now. It just feels so good to know you have a good step in the right direction today, each one of those days puts me one day closer to my new years goal. I had a REALLY good weigh in on friday, but i will wait til monday to chime in about it. But it was a good day because it put me at my previous mini goal of 20 pounds lost, so i was tickled. I will move my ticker to reflect my new years goal in a couple of days, that is my current mini goal, now that i met the 20 pounds goal. But i just want that ticker to stay on "congratulations" for a couple of days and savor it, before i start all over with this goal. ha ha

Dollypie-I know al about those workday slumps. Good greif, mine hit after lunch too. Sometimes some hot tea helps me but the only thing that really helps is 5'Oclock. ha ha. Dang it, i went to walmart today and forgot to get a pedometer. That was the main reason for going there too. duh. That filming at your local football stadium sounds exciting. Glad you had a good friday at the gym...dont good work out days just make such a huge difference?!

Card-For exercise idea, could you do videos on your laptop or computer? That is how i do mine. Hey how did that laminate flooring go? We are putting some in our bedroom in a couple of weeks and we are debating on paying someone versus do it ourselves.

Trob-Good job with moving that scale in the right direction.

Sno-For TOM overeating have you ever tried hot tea? I drink it all the time. I think that warm feeling in the belly helps make me feel full and it usually gets rid of any cravings. That getting rid of spiders sounds like quite a day. I did something similar last weekend just sort of fall cleaning in the kitchen and pantry...i was moving ALL day. it felt good to be up and about that much though.

Ok, time to go check the children...to quiet. ha ha

Ok haven't been here for half a wek got to caught up with family stuff but I'm getting my act back into gear tomorrow.

Bertine 09-10-2006 12:37 AM

nawchem: i think it might be a bunch of things but i am pretty sure it isn't medical. it has been 20 months at this job and while the first couple months i kept up with my excersizing routine (nothing much but i always tried to get to the gym 8 times a month for the insurance benefit) i ended up not doing much of anything active at all. i remember one day last winter i went to go snowboarding with my brothers and i couldn't keep up at all. i don't think i have even ridden my bike since i got this job. (i am a programmer, so it isn't remotely active.) maybe i don't need weight loss support as much as i need intervention for a job that seemed to have taken over my life.

anyways, i am finding i have a huge routine of eating snacky foods when i get home from work, today i just wanted to make brownies and eat them. i didn't but that habit is going to be hard to break.

thanks everyone for the support, have a great rest of the weekend. :)

trob 09-10-2006 08:30 AM

nawchem- love you avitar...starry night is one of my favorites! the first snow, i am so jealous. both for you having snow and for living in the rockies. i went to colorado for the first time during the summer of 2005 and loved it. we spent almost a week in ouray and i would move there tomorrow if given the chance. here in arkansas our highest mountian is at 2500 ft. i decided that we don't really have moutains at all, just hills.
sno- i know i am bad, but when pms hits me hard i usually just give in. i have never seen it make that much difference on the scales. i wish that i could have more control but i don't. my days of dealing with it are number though and then i will probably have even more trouble with my weight. as soon as i give my doctor the go ahead i will be having a hystaectomy. (family history of problems that usually doesn't start until mid-40's. i am 39 and i guess i am just the over-achiever in the bunch.

started ww last thursday afternoon and full dressed at i was at 206, not too bad. i do like my home weight much better though. we (a fellow teacher and i) asked if we could weigh nude next week and the weigh-in person didn't think it was as funny as we did. we also thought that it might be fun to work it like suvivor and vote someone out each week but i think that we should vote people on. we work with some very overweight people who didn't even come to the free info. meeting. i know that it is just my mean streak, but i wanted to put little notes in their mail boxes reminding them.

trob 09-10-2006 08:31 AM

sno- when you bug bomb your house do you take everything out before or just clean everything after? i know that i would want to take all of the open food out of the cabs. but didn't know about everything else.

card 09-10-2006 09:26 AM

Been doing great this weekend, snuck in a weigh in and i'm pretty sure i'll finally be getting below the 209 mark this week. yaaaa me!!!! We are about half way done the floor, thank goodness, so we will be finished it today.
Nawchem glad things are going well
Trob I will mail you snow, in a month or so I will have enough of it to bury half my house.
Getnhealthy it's easy to do the floor yourself, provided you have the right tools and you do things the right way, REMOVE ALL FLOOR AND DOOR BOARDS! The guy we are working with refuses to remove half of the boards and it is making a lot of extra work. If the boards are removed it is just make your cuts and lock it in. It is really nice to work with and I am thinking of putting it in my bedrooms when I finally get around to finishing them.

Weekend chat!

Wow--

it is great to hear from everyone this weekend--great how everyone is checking in. Also--sounds like people are doing pretty good--I am keeping my fingers crossed, I know weekends can be tough.

I have been using this progesterone cream and perhaps that is why PMS has not been as severe as usual. I feel a little puffiness around the eyes today but not too bad--especially considering I am one day late!

Yesterday I accidentally went 100 cals below my goal--I forgot to eat something on my list--that was a boost! I had already brushed my teeth when I noticed that and decided not to go for it--and that lentil soup was very filling so I was okay.

STacy--you rock--you are doing so good with exercise. I got the core secrets dvd but havent tried it yet.

Bertine: believe me stress can do anything--I just got out of a job due to stress and it is amazing how much an effect it can have on you. Please take care!

Trob--I have considered a hysterectomy because my cramps get so bad--my doc basically said there was nothing else she could do for them. I usually see a big diff in my scale if I give into PMS--particularly since it sometimes lasts for 2 weeks! And yes, I took all the food and dishes out of my kitchen and pantry, all the paper goods medicines anything that I didnt want pesticides on That is why it was such a big chore--we taped up the fridgerator so we didnt have to take that outside.

Card--I admire your hard work--I cant imagine doin that.

I laughed when I read that. Is it all the way down to 65 there?
