Okay so I got my bloodwork results back and I am really really depressed. The good news is that my triglycerides went down by 60 points and my good cholestrol increased to where it needed to be so way to go me:D . The bad news is that the bad cholestrol increased by 50 points. I was shocked too to hear this, how could this happen? My doctor was not happy about this. She said my diet seems to be good because my trigylcerides have gone down. Exercise is what will reduce it though she said. She said I need a minimum of 5 days a week....good thing I have started doing this. She did admit that heredity could play a part in this, but I need to be more active. To motivate me she made a copy of the results and told me to put in on the refrigerator. I don't know yet if this will encourage me or make me mad when I look at it every time I open the door of the fridge. So last night I took the dog to the dog park and we played fetch, this helped me chill out. Then I ate some M&Ms and Pringles, way to go Amanda. This made me feel even worse so I went to bed. This morning I did go work out and have decided that last night was a slip up and today is a new day, so I am getting back on track. I am still pretty bummed out my cholestrol though.
GetNHealthy: try to go on a light walk, that always helps my cramps whirleysgirl: WELCOME ;) lachona: way to stick it out and make it for a work out:carrot: |
so i am completely overwhelmed by looking for another job, which means i should find one pretty quick but i was trying to REDUCE stress.
Last night I had a board meeting and ended up eating a lot of cookies, i am not too upset though since i am in the middle TOM and haven't eating candy yet and i didn't get dinner. today is burrito day at work and i decided when i started this that i wouldn't stop that since it is my favorite day of the week. i weighted myself and i am at 186 pounds, i don't know if that is good or not, it is another pound off and i have felt a lot better but i feel like i am not loosing enough (even though i know that is about the correct amount to lose.) I don't really feel like i am too restrictive. mostly i have been trying to change the way i think about food. feh, i keep thinking about going to New Zealand over christmas and looking good in a swimsuit (and being in good enough shape to attempt to try and surf). that will keep me going. CH4Health: I have been thinking about following the Fat Smash Diet, mostly because I know I have to rework habits of eating and that diet seems to reinforce that. nawchem: well, today it is getting up to 80, so i am not sure it will be that great. October is the most beautiful month with all the leaves changing. I am really looking forward to that. I used to commute to work on my bike almost year round (feb is just a miserable month) and with the right tires you can ride in the snow. Minnneapolis plows the trails pretty quickly too. I love snow, so i understand running outside to be in it. :) Whirley: welcome! i am trying to loose about the same amount. :) |
My wt is down 3lbs to 154. Ya guys I stood on the scale for the longest time savoring the number. :smug: I'm going in the hospital for a sleep study tonight, hopefully I'll start sleeping soon. I barely sleep 2 hrs most nights. I started drinking the atkins shakes for breakfast, their fast and chocolaty and I think their helping me lose.
I was really upset yesterday. I paid $2000 to this lawyer last year to fix the title on my house because the laws changed and your not allowed to buy the house the way I did so the title reverted to the previous owner. Now I'm trying to sell it and the real estate co ran the title and its totally messed up. I can't afford to pay rent here and a mortgage, and another lawyer to fix it. I ts really been a trial. :( :( :( dolly at least 2 of the tests improved. I have a friend with your situation, he cut out sugar and his cholesterol went down a bit, then he added tons of fruits and veges and it came down to normal. |
BTW the m&ms pringles combo sounds good :)

swimmingly
Hi all:
went back to swim today--boy did it feel good--it puts me in a good mood as well as gives me a good work out--my shoulder was kinda hurting today before I swam so I took it easy. When I saw the doc about my knee he liked it that I was swimming--said that he doesnt see swimmers for knee injuries--but then he added that he saw them for shoulder injuries! My motto is no more injuries! I just reserved a bunch of books on improving flexibility and another called the "Pain free program". So I hope they will help. A lot of posts! It is so great to see everyone's thinking and progress. I know it is painful to post our slips but I learn so much from hearing how people are doing--thanks for that! Welcome Whirley--you have some great goals! Esmeralda--great job at hitting the gym when you didnt feel like it! It always pays off huh. Trob--just hang in there--as long as you are eating right the pounds will come off--sometimes the body just does its own thing! Card--I have dieted when my hubby was not and listening to him crunch on chips and cereal made me homicidal at times. Sometimes I would just have to leave the room! Getnhealthy--sorry about the cramps--sometimes it is just like that--mine is finally over:D dolly--you did good to go for a walk even tho you were disappointed. I know someone who got relief from taking garlic tablets for their high cholesterol. Bertine--I am so jealous about New Zealand! It sounds so wonderful. I would love to go there. I remember how beautiful it was in that movie the Piano. Nancy--too bad you are still struggling with problems with that house--sorry to hear that. At least the weight is down--I hope the sleep clinic helps. Nothing worse than not sleeping. |

Okay I have to get my act together, I've been mucking around.
I'm going to set myself some goals for the next week. 1. Only weigh 1x a week. 2. Drink my water 3.Continue with the good exercise I'm doing. 4.Track everything I eat. I know I can lose weight again but I'm having a real hard time getting back into step with anything. |

Hiya!
:carrot: :carrot: :carrot: Yay Trob--you have been wanting to see some movement--that is great!! Keep it up.
Chaarli--good to have you back and nice goals. I think keeping it simple like that is the best way to lose. Just learning some great easy to stick to habits and keeping to them is the best way. Let us know how you do! |
Good day here, stuck to the diet. Hopefully the scale will reflect it. I have decided to increase my protein, I just realized through fitday that I am not getting very much with my new 6 meal a day program. So I bought eggs and diet lunch meat, we'll see how it goes. I don't eat nuts or lentils so I am looking for other substitutes. All ideas welcome.
Snow my loss is on my ticker on my sig. Congrats on swimming again, I can't wait until next June so I can set up my pool again. dolly sorry to hear about the tests, keep on trying and as the song goes "two out of three ain't bad" bertine you are a better man than me, I'd have been reduced to tears, ice cream and cheezies by now. nawchem congratulation!!!!! You must be so proud!!!! Chaarli keep on trying, I know you can do it, you just have to get back into the mind set. It gets easier to get back on the wagon, everytime I fall off and it is longer in between slips. Just get back on and keep trying. trob congrats on the pound!! every pound counts, well maybe only the down ones, I still think the up pounds shouldn't count, but I just can't figure out how to get around basic science laws. |
murfesbor I'm going to map that. :D
I'm finally losing wt and the reason is that my thyroid is too high. I feel like I can't lose wt when my thyroid is normal. I'm going to cut back on my medication. :?: I hate to do it when I've been losing and I feel good but my bp and heartrate are a little high so I have to. |
Thanks everyone for the words of advice. I am just going to stick to a healthy diet and keep excercising. I will try to add more fruits and veggies though. I can't wait for today to be over with. Some friends of my DH and I are coming to town this weekend and we always have so much fun when they are in town. I think the plan tomorrow might be to go to Houston and furniture shop though. Hey, I can do any type of shopping, even if we do have to stop at Bass Pro Shops for the guys. We are also going to eat at our favorite seafood place, I hear the best blackened shrimp cesear salad calling my name. I am going to ask them to put the dressing on the side this time.
Bertine: I can totally relate that finding a less stressful job can be stressful. Just be patient and be picky, don't take the first offer that comes. Make sure it is right for you and you don't compromise. Nawchem: I can relate, DH and I had two house payments when moving. I have a question though. Even though the laws changed wouldn't your title still be valid because of grandfather laws? The M&Ms and pringles were good at the time, now I think yuck! Things I will do when I emotionally eat. Sno: I have heard of garlic tablets, and then someone at work told me to eat a teaspoon of cinnamon a day. Chaarli: at www.calorieking.com you can track your calories and they list the national brands and restaurants as well. trob: a pound is a pound, especially if is down a pound:carrot: card: try milk, yogurt, or cottage cheese |
Good afternoon ladies, Doing well today. Today is my weigh in day and i am very happy with the results. Cant wait til the group weigh in day. TOM did not get me down this week. HOORAY> :carrot: I really think the 30 minutes on the elliptical 6 days a week was the key this week. It seems i can not be as strict on the diet as long as i get some good cardio in. I can definately handle that.
LOTS of stress at work. I am in a war with my boss at this point, he took me from full time to 8-2, now today he is saying 9-1. All this while i am trying to refinance my house. Not to mention bimbo chomping at the bit for my office. It has had me on the verge of tears, which i am hoping is mostly just cause of TOM and that the tears will pass. But i just hate job stress, i really do, it is just so out of my control. :fr: So i am trying to have the mentality that eventhough my job is out of my control, i can at least control how i handle the stress...so i am not resorting to old habits of eating my way through this stressful time. I am instead opting for the ellipitical to be my way of working through it. I pray for strength. :yoga: Bertine- I know that stress of job hunting, i am about to do the same thing. One pound down is certainly good news. :cp: As long as that scale is going in the right direction it is always good news. You talked alot about your eating this week, are you able to get any exercise in? That seems to be the key with me. My one pound weeks are the ones where i have done little exercise. 25 pounds is a good goal for new years. I think that is about what i have left for my new years goal. We can do it. Naw- 3 pounds woohoo :bravo: Hope the sleep study goes well. :goodluck: SNO-Glad you got a good swim in. Sorry about your shoulder. I can relate, my heel spurs are giving me torment lately. And something is making my feet go numb after about 15 mins on the elliptical...wonder if it is related to the heel spurs? I like your idea of adding our victories along the way. Put me down for 10 pounds lost towards New Years goal. Chaarli- Sounds like a good, thought out plan. One day at a time. The hardest part is just getting started. Once i am out of the gait and running it is much easier...it is the getting my butt in gear that is hard for me. :coach: You'll get there...one day, one meal, one workout at a time. Dollypie-Sounds like a good plan. Hope you have a good weekend with your friends coming to town and enjoy that shrimp for me, sounds yummy. :hungry: Trob- Down one pound. WTG :cp: Ok ladies, i am back to the grindstone at work, while i still have a job. |
