[QUOTE=nawchem;1386997]That ice cream photo shoot sounds so funny to me. Man how do you work there?
QUOTE]

It is very hard especially because I love ice cream. The one thing that I think will help me now is that I've realized that I have some type of allergy to most dairy. I'm not lactose intolerant according to a Dr., but I do have severe digestive reactions including bloating and water retention. I also just don't feel good when I'm downing a whole pint of Haagen-Dazs in a day :?: Since I've been reading "You the owners manual" I've become more aware of the effects food have on my body. I am also more motivated to do something about it - I want to be around for my DD as long as possible.

So far the photo shoot is going really well. I have not indulged in ice cream or any of the other 'goodies' (aka chocolate cake, pot stickers or bagels). I brought some veggies, yogurt and almonds. I ordered a veggie & chicken Thai dish plus a house salad with light dressing. I got very full and I am certain that it was 90% healthy. :)

I did indulge last night though. DH and I went out to eat and I had a drink which was more like a milkshake than an alcoholic beverage - I was paying for it this morning (I felt like a water ballon). I did have a chicken salad for dinner though and skipped the appetizers and soda. I think my day yesterday balanced out.

I did not fit my exercise in this weekend or my daily walk on Sunday. I need to make time for that first thing in the morning from now on - so I have no excuses later in the day. Today I have Open House at DD's school, so I will have to figure out a way to fit in a run tonight.

Talk to you later!!!

Snowbrocade, thanks for making a list!

I see that I am not the one who has set out the highest goal for myself (a pitfall I have often fallen into in the past) but I will certainly be happy if I lose more than the 30 I have set out for myself.

Sending Sending!

Okay I am sending all of our goals out into the universe and we are on our way!

Good point, Yogini--I tend to set higher goals than I can attain but at the same time why not aim higher? Any weight lost will feel good to my body. And for me I feel hope at the idea of losing this amount. The crux is not to get down when things dont go smoothly--I am a big yo-yo loser--I will lose a bunch one week, then gain back a few, then lose a few, then plateau, then back to the beginning.

Great goals trob--100 crunches--wow!

Great 1st day to our New Years Challenge

Hello everyone:

Hey there Bopis, I missed you earlier. Welcome to the group! Good to see ya! :)

Nawchem, I was looking at your goals? Your goals say walking & yoga everyday. Do you mean 7 days per week? I was just wondering. So glad to have you here. :carrot:

Before, I hear ya on having problems with slow losses and attaining fast loss. Sometimes it seems like your body just wants to hold on to the weight. Definitely post as regular as you can. You don't have to wait to post 1x per week. We would love to hear from you as often as you can. :)

CH, I couldn't imagine an ice cream photo shoot. :) Wow, you are awesome to bring in your own treats and veggies. That is wonderful and attests to the fact that you really want to reach your goal. That's great and very encouraging. Great job! :)

Getnhealthy, those are some very good goals. You are off to a healthier you and that is wonderful! So glad to have you on board. :cb:

Dollypie, that is so cute. "Learn to like vegetables". :) I know that for me it is definitely an acquired taste. Since I have been trying to eat healthier, I have incorporated a few more veggies into my eating plan. Still, I can only do green beans, broccoli, lettuce and corn. :) Anyways, great goals and I am glad that you are joining us.

So I am one of the high losers. :D Well, that is okay. I am determined to lose this weight and will not stop until I reach my goal. There have been several times that I have gotten on the scale and been so discouraged because I have been working my tail off and the scale didn't want to budge, but I just can't stop. I HAVE to lose this weight. It's not an option for me to keep this excess weight on me. You know, I visualize myself thinner and everytime I do, it makes me smile. That tells me something.

Sno, I have heard and read about chewing slower and how that helps so that you won't eat as much. That's great! You have some very good goals there and you sound so positive. You have a great attitude about your weight and your goals. I am very excited about this group and I feel that we will succeed. If we don't necessarily reach our weight goals, we will be much healthier in the end and isn't that really what this is all about? :) I keep record of what I eat on fitday everyday as well. It is a tremendous help! It is accountability in and of itself because you don't want to log a whole bunch of fattening foods. Sticking to Fitday has been a huge help for me.

Trob, so good to see you. Isn't it something how our children can be such a motivation? My daughters really help me to be motivated. We just want what is best for them and to be the best example. That's great! Look forward to hearing more from you. :)

Well, I got my workout in this morning. I did Calorie Killer by the Firm. Toughie! Anyways, I did all of it with modifications of course. I am aiming for 5 days per week working out. I have decided to focus on weight lifitng and cardio, because I feel that will do the best for me and will help me to look my best as I shrink. :)

Well, you ladies have a wonderful, wonderful evening. I will see you in the morning. Everyone be strong and keep your determination and remember this:

You are not alone in your battle to get more healthy. It's not about being a size 6 or being able to run a marathon. It's about feeling good about yourself no matter what size you are.
I got that from a book I am reading and I thought it was so nice, I wanted to share with you guys.

Hang in there!

Snowbrocade 08-28-2006 11:13 PM

just squeaked by on exercise!

Okay--

I did it--attained all my goals today--calories were 1722, I was feeling sluggish--it was a hot one today--and decided I would walk anyway--waited until it was cooler and went outside and walked around the house and around the property--took a timer in my pocket to make sure I did 30 minutes--it was almost dark when I finished but I did it!

Oh, one more thing--I will need to measure. will do that now.

It was a great first day losing with all of you! And attaining health--keep it up ladies--i want to hear how it went.

Hello everyone!

Good morning everyone:

Wishing everyone a Terrific Tuesday! I just got my workout done. I did Express Cardio. Phew! That was tough, but I am glad I got it in. If I don't get it in early in the morning, I can almost forget it.

Sno, so nice to see you did so well yesterday. Good job!

I will check in a little later with everyone to let you know how Day 2 went. Day 1 was quite successful. I ate a little fewer calories than I really wanted to, but that is okay, I plan to do better today. The problem is I do Fitday kinda backwards. I put the food in after I eat it and then when it is time to prepare dinner, I find that I have like 600 or 700 calories left. I don't want to eat that many calories at the end of the day. So, I end up eating 1200 for the day or something. I need to plan my meals out a day in advance because preferably, I want 1500 calories per day.

Everyone, PLEASE POST as often as you can. It helps you to feel bonded with the group and gives you some accountability and also it helps everyone else to hear your ups and downs, tips etc. for encouragement. It's the best way for us to be truly successful and reach our New Year's Goals!

Well, everyone, have a wonderful day and I will see ya later.

Okay, I got my run in last night - yay for me!!! I wasn't sure it was going to happen. I decided to try to make Shephards Pie for my DH - something he's been asking me to do for a while. He said it came out okay - just needs some more seasoning and different veggies. I'm glad I finally did it.

I need to add this to my goals:

(?)# Determine tasks that you've been procrastinating and finally do them!!!

It felt really good to check that off my list.

I have been struggling to find a way to fit in a 30 minute walk everyday at work, but I think I have the solution. I will take my 2 - 15 minute breaks and walk then. This way I can break it up and get away from my desk twice a day for sure, also I can still walk during my lunch if there's time.

I have to go - boss will be here soon. I'll check in this afternoon. Bye!

Isagenix_VA 08-29-2006 12:00 PM

I'm new :) But I want to join! I have 30 pounds to go before the new year!

Snowbrocade 08-29-2006 01:41 PM

planning food

HI Everyone!

I had a bad night sleeping last night so didnt go swimming at 730 this morning. Will go for a walk at the beach later, I think for exercise.

Oops--I just remembered, need to measure.

Last night I decided, kinda like you Elycia, that I need to plan my meals in advance because sometimes it does get kinda top heavy towards evening. So I sat down with fitday and figured out exactly what I would want to eat today both from enjoying my food perspective and eating healthy--I came up with five meals--or three meals and two snacks--and my total is 1625. I am on a tight budget so I have peanut butter for lunch--but that is okay.

I just read a log from a woman who lost 100lbs in one year by counting calories--keeping them around 1400 and walking 30 minutes a day. I am going to keep mine as high as possible and still lose because I dont want to lower my metabolism. So I will keep to 1700 until I stop losing and then slowly lower.

Now off to my late breakfast!

Everyone have a magical day--we are doing wonderful things for ourselves that will greatly benefit our health and well being.

Sno

Oh Sno, I can TOTALY relate to TOM throwing you off. I am so glad it is not just me who feels like they really only get an accurate scale reading one week out of the month. The week before i am bloating, the week during i am lazy, the week after i am just slow to lose for some reason. So that leaves one good week, ha ha. Ok, maybe i am exaggerating but that is sure what it feels like. BTW, you have my goal at 42, that is a wonderful goal but i think mine is supposed to be 32. That would be 1.7 per week.
Does anyone have a weigh in day, then the day after it you are 2 or 3 pounds heavier for DAYS in a row? I do this every week. It always makes me a nervous wreck until weigh in day. I know everybody fluctuates but mine always seems to fluctuate UP. I am up 3 pounds since weigh in. Now grant it, i weigh in on friday, and i eat some resturant food over the weekend but i was just wondering if everybody went up after the weekend? Or a weigh in?

Snowbrocade 08-29-2006 04:18 PM

re; tom

Yes--I can relate--like I am already PMS two weeks before and bloated, so that is two weeks that I will be yo-yo and then the week itself. So yes--for me the week after my period I can say I have a good weigh in--but I may be partly at fault for all the salt I eat--I love it!

I think I fixed it--is that right?

CH--------will lose 30
Eycia------will lose 42
Stacy-----will lose 32
beforeim---will lose 21.5
bopi------will lose 30
golfsalot--will lose 20
yogini----will lose 30
card-----will lose 20
trob------will lose 30
Sno------will lose 36
Nawchem-will change behaviors
********---will lose 30

Welcome ********--you must have posted at the same time as me--tell us what your goals are for eating and behavior? And if you can your weight loss story!:smug:

Get n healthy 08-29-2006 08:48 PM

Did good today. Small little NSV was that i was REALLY not into exercising today. No motivation what so ever. So i did a pilates tape and put about half effort into it. I decided that was not going to cut it, i was not going to let myself off that easy...so i took the kids and the dog on a nice long walk. They rode bikes while i walked the dog. That did it, now i feel better.

Water was good. Food was a little higher than i would have liked at almost 1500 but not above my max for the day. I just like to save the 1500's for the weekend. i strive for 1300-1400 during the week. but today was definately not a bust. Plus i am not even really sure about my lunch calories. I had some thai meal, i dont know how to even guess. I know it was a small portion but i just tried to find some stuff that was similar and average it out, i am thinking 560 for chicken and rice noodles that i had for lunch but who knows. I am happy with today.

u2girl 08-29-2006 10:15 PM

Hello ladies:

So nice to see you checking in and letting us know how your day was. Nice NSV Getnhealthy. Great job on the long walk. I know sometimes you may not feel like it at first, but you feel so much better when you get it in. Great job!

Sno, hope you are having a great day! I am getting ready to log in to Fitday and take care of everything there. I think overall today was a good day.

CH, glad to see ya and doing so well. Getting a run in ~~ Yay! It is so good that you are scheduling your day to get activity in. The books say that you should do that in order to make sure that you get some in everyday.

Welcome Isa. :welcome2: So happy to have you join our group!

Well, I gtg. I will check-in in the morning to say hello to everyone.

Ciao!

Elycia

Healthy is the goal

I'm not sure why, but I've had the worst headache today. I think it might be my body getting used to eating healthy and gettin rid of toxins. I cut out diet sodas last week kind of unofficially and I guess it could be that.

Today has gone so well. I cooked a turkey roast (giant turkey breast) and it wasn't going to be done until late so I decided to make this shrimp stir fry from TJ's. The seasoning that came with it was full of salt, so I just put in some onion and garlic powder and a tiny bit of salt and pepper. It was awesome!! It was barely 200 calories, 1.5g fat and 25g protein. The best part was that it only took 10 - 15 minutes. I will definately keep those in the freezer for emergencies.

I'm so happy with how i am doing. The challenge for me is to continue on this path when obstacles come - they always do. I think one of the keys is to keep easy, healthy things in the freezer. I plan on cooking atleast one extra meal a week besides keeping the TJ's stir fry. My other obstacle is giving in to peer pressure and eating unhealthy food to 'fit in'. The biggest time when this happens is family gatherings. We always spend holidays with DHs family and they are eaters. My past answer to this was bringing my own meals pre-packaged which caused a great deal of attention (and then made me stressed and pressured). My new fix is to make 1 or 2 healthy and yummy dishes but to also (sparingly) eat some of the other food. These are some additional goals, but I think that these changes will help make this a life change and not just a diet.

Hi Issa!! I can't wait to hear about your goals and motivation!

Sno - It must be in the air because I also didn't sleep. I couldn't get my pilates done
