1 Yr / 100 Lbs -- June '06

Okay here's a new home for the month of June. I imagine Lois would have started a new one but since she has computer problems I guess she just hasn't been able to do it.

shyla2001 06-02-2006 09:57 AM

Hi guys! Just posted on here to get the subscription started, so I don't lose ya'll! Have a great day!

meowee 06-02-2006 10:33 AM

Nova Scotia had rain last night and once again you literally can watch the grass growing. :D It's going to be a humid day today, but at least it isn't too hot.

Shawn . . . After reading your post I decided to try a frozen peach slice . . . not too bad at all. In fact, considerably better than I would have expected. Thanks for putting me on to a new treat.

Liliann . . . good for you getting back on track and you are so right about how easy it is to lose sight of portion sizes.

Tina . . . oh how awful for you and, of course, for the poor cat. According to Paul (mechanic) the particular little spot where my mouselets were hanging out is both warm and safe and the baby critters can just ride around with you until they are old enough to leave the nest without coming to any harm. I honestly felt a little sorry about evicting them but they were doing damage . . . expensive damage.

Cheryl . . . have a great personal long weekend. See you when you get back.

Ryanmi . . . for some reason I always found that four-day weeks seemed long, too. BTW, I've never even tasted Dr. Pepper. I'm a Pepsi person when I drink soft drinks at all. My 'beverage of choice' really is water.

Erin . . . yep, that really does sound sick. Wow, do I ever wish I could catch that bug. In my family, I'm known as the repository of 1001 useless facts. :dizzy: I really love trivia. Over the years, I collected bunches of it on just about every topic you can think of.

Here's some FFF for today . . . about nuts . . .

. . . Clinical studies have shown that nuts help with weight loss, but nobody as yet has figured out why. But try to stay with about 1 serving (1 oz) a day because they are very high in calories . . . Macadamia nuts are the highest in calories . . . Almonds are the lowest . . . Roasted nuts (dry or oil roasted) are even higher in calories and usually contain a lot of extra salt . . . Peanuts are actually a legume not a nut at all although they are still very high in calories and fat.

Have a great day of moving and shaking and heading in the downward direction, chickies. See you soon (hopefully you all make it over here). :carrot:

Good Morning Girls. Not much to report on here just the same old stuff going on. I am at work and didnt want to get up this morning. Actually it seems here lately I am having a really hard time getting up in the mornings. I have even started taking vitamins thinking maybe that would help but it hasn't. Oh well what can you do?
Tina – it is nice to have that snuggle time. Don’t worry about missing a little exercise to spend time with the hubby. I would love to have snuggle time but with 4 kids there is never a chance.
Lillian – glad to have you back. Sounds like you have done some serious thinking and know which way you want to go now. I think you will find the anti-depressants will give you more motivation to stick to your plan. I don’t think I would be doing as well with out mine.
Linda – Mice can create some expensive problems cant they. Last year we had one get into our Central Heat and Air unit and chew up the wiring harness, thank goodness we were home when it shorted out if we hadn’t our house would probably have burned down.
Shawn – I haven’t had a chance to get a look at your babies yet(my computer at work has that site blocked) but I am hoping to get there soon. I love kids at the toddler age. I love to watch them learn. My youngest turns 5 in July and I just love to hear him say his ABC’s or tell a story.
Cheryl – hope you have fun on your long weekend. Sorry to hear you are having pet problems. Isn’t it weird how we get so attached to our animals? I don’t know what I would do without my little Chihuahua, his name is Taco and I just love him.
Ryanmi – We just had kindergarten graduation with my 5 year old and it was so fun. They sang songs and did sign language to one of them. Of course I cried like a baby to see my little boy so grown up.
Erin – I guess the threats worked for the scales cause they were back to normal today. I weighed the same as my Sunday weight so I wasn’t too upset with them. I would have liked to see a drop but I will be happy with a “no gain”. I am happy to hear you are still in a good mood, it makes life so much easier.
I have found a few "Did You Know's" I thought were interesting so here goes.
You're More Likely To Be Hungry If You're Cold!
When a source of Vitamin C (orange, lemon, grapefruit, strawberry, tomato, potato, etc.) is eaten with meat or cooked dry beans, the body makes better use of the iron in the protein food.
Lemons contain more sugar than strawberries
The average McDonald's Big Mac bun has 198 sesame seeds on it.
The average person eats around 1500 pounds of food per year.

Happy Friday!

Good moring girls. Not much new to report on my home front. At 9am this morning it was already 20C. I'm already complaining...lol! I was thinking of the swimming pool, thanks Shawn! But not sure if public swim is during the day aswell as evening. Gotta make a phone call I suppose.

Cheryl, oh your poor pup! How many will he have to get pulled? I love stir fry so fast and healthy. Enjoy your time with your hubby this weekend.

Ryan, graduation sounds really cute. Would love to hear the rendition of "First grade, First grade", I bet it was funny. Good job with the icecream! Fortunately last summer an icecream shop opened up that sold fat free frozen yogurt in chocolate, strawberry, french vanilla and cheesecake flavors. It's so good you'd think you're cheating.

Liliann, thanks for the bravo. I'm excited for you today! You're really taking control and putting this weight loss effort into your mindful hands!

Erin, I'm just loving the enthusiasm coming from your posts lately...I just wanna give you a big  !! You're welcome by the way for the rubbing off! hahaha! But seriously you are starting to sound like my thoughts...it's scarey! Lastnight on the treadmill I was saying to myself..."self! I think you were sweating more at this point yesterday...so I uped the inclined and added a few more beeps to the speed. When the sweat was running down my face, neck and back....I said now it's working! Yes, I really am that insane! hahaha! Do you like icecream? I have a major sweet tooth...no..no..no...that won't do...I have major sweet teeth! After dinner each evening I have a serving of Breyers Smart Scoop Icecream..Chocolate fudge brownie, to be exact. Only 1.5g fat and 110 calories. Thanks for the encouragement...it helps more than you know. :) Yeah, I heard on Oprah that a handful of walnuts a day can do wonders for you. Can't remember the specifics though...I could look it up I guess.

Linda, I am an animal fan. I couldn't kill anything unless it's a bug. So I know how you feel about feeling for the little critters. You're right they're cute as long as they don't cost harm or money! LOL! I remember one time (when I used to work) at my office there was a mouse sleeping in my bosses wifes slipper. My co-worker wanted me to slam the broom down on it...but I couldn't. I instead put a garbage can infront of it..woke it up and it ran into the can and I carried it outside to let it go. LOL!

Robbin, I would suggest a second honeymoon for you and hubby...but I would be scared of you having a fifth!! hahaha! Thanks though..I did enjoy some alone time with him.

Have a great day ladies. I know I will try to!

TTFN!
~Tina

Cheryl120 06-02-2006 11:14 PM

Evening Ladies...Busy day shopping with hubby in Fargo, but we had fun. Hubby bought me a new mower, so you know what I will be doing for exercise tomorrow. LOL We want to get our yard work done before we are gone on Sunday and Monday, so it will probably take most of the day. Really warm today. I'm enjoying the central air right now. The fairy fat mother paid me a visit, I'm down 2 pounds.:carrot: :carrot: My little Ozzy is doing much better. It's amazing how fast antibotics work. Don't know how many teeth they will have to pull, but I just want him to feel better and not be in pain.:(
Going to do a few personals and be back and do some more in the morning if I have time.

Shawn...Your girls are beautiful and I'm sure keep you very busy. I have to tell you that my hubby and his brother look so much a like, that when I was engaged to my husband, I hadn't met his brother. Well, his brother came for a visit, knocked on the door and I thought it was my intended. Boy, did he get the biggest lip lock!!! That's how I met my future brother-in-law.LOL:o Of course now I know the difference between the two of them.

Liliann...I'm so happy to hear you have not given up on yourself. You are so worth this Liliann. We are here for you. Give your meds a chance to do there stuff, I know you will be feeling much better soon.

Linda...I had a good laugh about your cats holding a house warming for the mice. Hope you got your car fixed.

Tina...Sorry to hear about your kitty.:( I love all creatures. I even scoop the spiders out of the tub and put them someplace safe. Your my hero, 27 shirts to iron. Once my hubby retired from the military, so did my iron. The only thing that see an iron here, is my fabric!

Robbin and Erin...Hang in there with the heat. I sure hate the heat and humidity. Wish I had a pool in my back yard.

Michelle 2....Graduation sounded real cute. You did great on the ice cream. Don't know if I would of had the will power. It was really hard not to go to Stone Cold creamery today, but I thought about the 2 pounds I just lost and I want to see 320's so bad. So I was good.:D

Michelle...Hope you are having pleasant weather. Not long till the Rose Parade starts. The ships should be arriving soon, or is it another week away?
Hope to be out for it next year since my granddaughter graduates from high school.

Here's the receipe for the dish I made last night.

Polynesian Pineapple Chicken
Serves: 4

1/3 cup ketchup
3 TB reduced sodium soy sauce
3 TB sugar
2 TB rice vinegar
1 TB cornstarch
3 tsp canola oil
1 pound skinless boneless chicken breast, cut into 1/2 cubes
2 carrots, thinly sliced
1 TB minced peeled fresh ginger
1/2 pound snow peas, trimmed
1/4 cup sliced almonds
1 (8oz) can water chestnuts, drained
1 (8oz) can pineapple chunks in juice, drained

Whisk together the ketchup, soy sauce, sugar, vinegar and cornstarch in a bowl until smooth; set aside.

Heat 2 tsp oil in a large nonstick saucepan over medium heat. Add chicken and cook, stirring occasionally, until cooked through, 5-6 minutes. Transfer the chicken to a plate.

Heat the remaining 1 tsp of oil in the skillet. Add the carrots and ginger; cook, stirring occasionally, until the carrots begin to soften, about 2 minutes. Stir in the snow peas, almonds, water chestnuts, pineapple, and the chicken. Cook, stirring frequently, until the snow peas are crisp tender, 3-4 minutes. Add ketchup mixture; bring to a boil and cook, stirring constantly, until thicken, about 1 minute.

Per serving (about 1 3/4 cup): 363 cal, 10 g fat, 6 g fiber WW Points: 7
If you add 1/2 cup brown rice, the points increase by 2.

This is really good. I had it for dinner last night and tonight.

Cheryl:hug:

Michelle 06-03-2006 01:30 AM

 CHERYL...Our weather has been very weird today! For one thing, it has been so muggy for about the past three days, which is very different for us; I felt like I was in the midwest! It was nice and sunny today, and then all the suddent with no warning, it started just downpouring and hailing and the parking lot started flooding; then within 15 minutes it stopped, cleared up and was sunny the rest of the day. It got up to about 70 degrees today. The Rose Parade is tomorrow, and I saw on the news that a couple of ships were coming in today. I remember years ago when I used to work downtown, it was so fun seeing all the ships. I've been fighting a horrible migraine now for two days and doing a lot of resting. My mom was taken by ambulance to the hospital again today, and they have run many tests, but still no answer as to what is wrong with her. I do know her heart rate was very low, and my grandma said that the ambulance had to pull over for a minute on the way to the ER and work on her for a minute. She was also very shaky, weak and disoriented. We're going to get up to see her tomorrow if my migraine is gone. I have been very upset and stressed lately and I think that's why I'm having these migraines. I hope you have a good evening.

ELEM-PGF 06-03-2006 08:32 AM

Good morning ladies! Well going to have to work some today and will be going to a 40th birthday party for a friend of mine. I am Looking forward to seeing a lot of folks i ahve not seen in a long time but I am dreading the food choices. I will probably take a cooler of stuff for me just in case, won't have to get it out unless necessary. Not feeling much like exercising this morning so i am contemplating going out for a bike ride. We'll see. I am feeling thinner and moving easier but scales are not really reflecting it. I am really contemplating an everyother day weigh but find myself on the scale before i realize I wanted to wait. We had a good rain here yesterday and things are supposed to be much cooler and sunnier today. Glad I have a good reason to be outside today to enjoy it!

Cheryl :carrot: :cb: Huge congrats on the 2 pound loss, that is great!! I'm doing the happy dance for you! So glad your dog is doing better, i hate to see animals suffer, especially dogs, i can read so much into their faces. Your recipe sounds awsome, can you substitute splenda for the sugar though?

Michelle So sorry to hear you are suffering from the migraine battle still. I'm praying for a quick recovery so you can move on with life! The parade you and Cheryl were talking about sounds neat. I grew up near Philly and the Tall Ships came to visit one year. Really neat stuff. I am jealous of you being close to the ocean it is a very soothing place for me and really wanted to live close to the ocean. Maybe after retirement! Not Gulf coast though too many hurricanes! How is your mom today? The spell she had sounds so scary. It is hard to be sympathetic to them sometimes though when you know she is not doing what is best to take care of herself. Her spell sounds very similar to my dad's which they have finally chalked up to a combination of atrial fibrilation and blood sugar being out of whack due to high insulin. Both relatively easily controlled but scary none the less. I will pray for her as well! Is that a new pic? thought you took the camera back? Did you decide on a new one?

Tina Okay you are really sick!!:dizzy: :dizzy: I am starting to like the fact that i can move in a reasonable way that causes me to sweat, but to make myself sweat even more than i already am just to feel like i am doing more, nope haven't gotten there yet!!! I will try to get on Oprah's website and see if I can find the walnut info thanks! DO i like ice cream? My usual answer to that is it runs in my blood!!! I have cut way back on the way i eat ice cream but yes it is definitley a food of choice! Just to give you and idea of the ice cream love i have my grandmother had to put a padlock on the freezer to keep my dad out of the ice cream and i love it more than him!

Robbin Glad to hear you are not being booked for scaleicide! Yes no gain may be frustrating but better than gaining!! Hang in there it will move! I am contemplating a new scale again even though my feet are fixed it is fluctuating way too much when i weigh. I always do it twice and then a third if the two are different. After the second foot surgery on the scale it was doing well but now back to its old tricks of 1-2# fluctuations between weighs. I think some of it is because it is narrow and i have to work to keep my feet on it and the swaying around that causes me to do makes it vary. So iguess i need a wider scale or i need to stop weighing until i have lost enough to get on it without having to work so hard and keeping my legs together!!!

Linda One of my husbands friends i the king of useless facts, we don't get the chance to hang out with him much anymore so I am glad to have you fill in the roll. THanks particularly for the nut info, i am definitely going to keep eating them! Just need to figure out some sugar free recipies i can use them in! I am going to try an apple dish my mom used to make and put my own little flare to it! I will try to send the exercise bug your way, He doesn't bite hard i promise but it's a slow growing whelp when he does! ............... and on that note..................

I am off to ride my bike! OUTSIDE, in public! fortunately there is not much stirring in our neighborhood this time of morning, so hopefully i do not frighten anyone!! Ya'll have a beautiful day!!! Enjoy life and i pray you all have wonderful weather and nothing but joy in whatever you do today!

ELEM-PGF 06-03-2006 08:56 AM

Okay girls i have a new goal..... to be able to ride my bike up the hill in front of my house without having to get off and walk!!! WHEW! I was only gone 15 min at the most and maybe rode a mile or a little over (I am going to try to clock it later) and i still haven't caught my breath and i am seeing stars!! The area around my house is nothing but small hills, big hills and a very few wonderfully flat regions! Down the hills are wonderful of course, but the down is usually followed by and immediate up!! Anyway, i am really glad i did it, it is absolutely a gorgeous morning out there and i wouldn't have experienced that if i hadn't gone for the ride! Plus i dont think anyone saw me with my bedhead, bike shorts, sports bra and tank top (please dont' think hard on that one, it may frighten you!!) Well gotta run, time to get busy with the work for everyone else now that i have spent a little time on me! Ya'll have a great one! :carrot: :carrot: Erin

Michelle 06-03-2006 09:34 AM

ERIN...I'm feeling a little better this morning, and I hope the migraine does not come back again today! It is so very frustrating with my mom, because she has been eating very bad lately and drinking SO MUCH regular pop, which is so bad for her because of being diabetic! She will not listen to anyone, because her saying is that no one is going to tell her what to do anymore, but she doesn't even comprehend what's good for her. It's a very frustrating and stressful situation that's out of my control, but I still worry about it and that's really been dragging me down lately! You did such a good job with your bike ride! After practicing, you'll soon be going up that hill so fast! I too love the beach so much! I can't wait until we get down there this summer. I find it so relaxing and a place to just get away from everything temporarily. This picture is just another one I had previously taken. I took a few of them. Well I hope you have a really fun time at the 40th birthday party today! It sounds like you're all prepared with your food so just enjoy yourself and have a great day!!!;)

RRVMMM 06-03-2006 11:07 AM

Hello girls, how is everyone's Saturday going so far? Michelle I am sorry to hear about your mom, maybe this latest episode will get her to thinking on the right path. Erin, before you know it you will be going up that hill plus going an extra mile. Keep up the good work. Cheryl, Your recipe sounds yummy I am gonna print it and when i go buy groceries this weekend I am gonna get everthing to try it.

Well, I had my "weekly cheat" last night. We went to Applebee's, did you girls know they have a Weight Watchers Menu? For appitizer we ordered chips and queso and I had maybe 10 or 12 chips with cheese as my "cheat". I ordered dinner off of the Weight Watchers Menu and had Cajun Grilled Talipia(sp) with steamed borccoli and rice. It was surprisingly yummy. I just knew the scales were going to be up again this morning since I have been fighting them all week even thought I was being very good. Well ya know I guess I threw my body totally off wack. I was down 2 pounds today, I even weighed 2 times with 30 minutes in between just to make sure. So I changed my Ticker again even though it is not Sunday.

I have a New Food Find (new for me anyway). Have any of you tried Flat Out Bread. It is flat like a tortilla. For breakfast I fried a couple of very thin slices of very lean low fat ham (1 fat gram each) then made a puddle of Egg Beaters put them both on the Flat Out Bread with a slice of fat free cheese and rolled it up. It was really good. The bread has only 1.5 grams of fat each and they are pretty big, you only need one. You can go to flatoutbread.com for recipe Ideas and use them to make pizza's and wraps and all sorts of stuff. There are different flavors but they vary in fat grams.

Well I am off, I think we might be starting on redoing our kitchen floor today.

Michelle 06-03-2006 11:20 AM

ROBBIN...Thank you for your kind words. I have never heard of flatout bread, but I'm going to check the grocery store for it, because it sounds really yummy! CONGRATS on the 2 pound weight loss! I see now you could add another happy dancer and I'm so happy for you!:cp: :hat:  :flow1: :cheer:

meowee 06-03-2006 04:38 PM

Okay . . . hope this lasts long enough for me to post. I've been having a terrible computer day . . . internet connection has been going up and down like the proverbial toilet seat . . . very, very frustrating. The weather has been dull, rainy, and cold all day, too.:( I know, I know, some of you would like a little of our coldness right about now. Sorry I mentioned it. :^:

Robbin . . . I think I'll keep my mice, I really don't like the sounds of what yours did. Very glad it wasn't any worse. Those are cute "did you knows". I didn't know the one about lemons having more sugar than strawberries, wow. Congratulations on your loss, girl. It's even better when it comes as a nice, unexpected surprise like that. :D

Tina . . . Sorry to hear that your Friday weather was so awful. Hope today has been better. I am really impressed that you can manage to stop with one little scoop of that marvellous sounding ice-cream. I wouldn't dare get any. :o

Cheryl . . . Great going with the loss, girl. Now 'fess up, how many lip-locks did it really take to figure out the twin brothers? :p Chicken recipe sounds great, as usual. Thanks, :) the car seems to be fine now . . . until the next critter invasion comes along. I had a heart-to-heart with the cats, but I don't think they were really listening. Time will tell. :dizzy:

Michelle . . . Love the new picture. What camera are you using now? Sorry to hear about your weather being rainy. That could have a lot to do with the migraine although the stress over your Mother's situation certainly isn't helping any. What you are describing almost sounds like a hypo rather than hyper reaction, but based on her nasty little food and cola habits that would seem unlikely unless she's taken too much insulin. Whatever, it is, I hope it soon settles down for both your sakes. Keep the faith, girl. :)

Erin . . . Somebody with good weather . . . how wonderful for you. Sounds like you are really doing well with the bike riding and those hills will no doubt get easier as times goes on. Glad I can fill the "useless fact" void for you. :D I just love it when, every once in a while, one of my "useless's' turns out to be useful for somebody. :)

Here's a really strange FFF for today . . . thought of it because Robbin mentioned redoing her kitchen floor . . .

Reasearchers have discovered that scattering tea bags throughout a newly renovated room can reduce the level of toxic chemicals by up to 90%. Apparently, the tea bags soak up the fumes from paint, polyurethane and glue. Just don't make tea with them later. :o

Well, wow, looks like I made it through. Have a great moving and shaking evening, chickies. See you tomorrow. :carrot:

LadyLai 06-03-2006 04:42 PM

Cheryl, yummy recipe. I'm with Robbin...I'll be making that this coming week. Thanks for sharing. Congrats on the loss! That's so good...maybe I should start a new quilt and see if it helps my scales..LOL! So on that note...give me back my fairy fat mother! :D

Michelle, glad to hear the migraines are subsiding a little. But the stress isn't. That's awful news about your mom. So sorry. It's gotta be so tough to worry over your mom all the time. It's no wonder you're having migraines! Try to take it easy and put yourself first!

Erin, girl you're rockin'!! I don't have the nerve to bike ride yet, but I would love to. I heard lastnight on "Honey, We're killing the kids" that an hour of bike riding burns 600 calories!! I looked at my husband and said, do you know how long I'd have to die on the treadmill to do that?!! So we're looking into bikes now, I'm just nervous about my little girl trying to come along with us. I saw these attachments for the kids that you put on the back of yours. They have their own handle bars, seat and peddles. That would be ideal! Keep up the awesome effort, you're inspiring me! I had to laugh out loud at your grandma putting a padlock on the freezer...Girl, go find some Breyers Smart Scoop...it's practically guilt free!!

Robbin, awesome job on the 2lbs. loss! You're sure doing great! I would have changed the ticker too! Love looking at all those happy men dancing! Not sure it would beneficial for me to look for the flat bread...you know being canadian and all it's probably not here!! But it would be worth a try wouldn't it. Good goings at Applebees too! :)

Have a great day ladies! Keep up the awesome work!

TTFN!
~Tina

LadyLai 06-03-2006 04:49 PM

Linda, looks like you snuck in as I was making my post. HI! We're having awful wind today. Enough to make the power go out in the store I was at and they had to announce we had to leave. :( Hey, I look forward to my icecream every evening and I probably have a little more than a 1/2 cup serving...maybe 3/4cup. I figure I'm worth that much! But I eat incrediably slow in small bites. It lasts and lasts...and makes me feel great! LOL!

shyla2001 06-03-2006 11:24 PM

Hey ladies... I'm only here briefly, so not going to do personals. I am exhausted. We swam today at my moms again, and had such a great time. I'm going to make another grocery list tonight before bed.... I'm amazed at how FAST we go thru fruits around here... and the salad I bought a few days ago went bad already. But I've been doing great... making good choices, and I feel good about it! Thanks for all the support!

Cheryl120 06-03-2006 11:48 PM

Evening Chickies!

I've had a really good day eating and getting some exercise in. Broke the new mower in, so that was my exercise for the day. Mowed for about 1 1/2 hours and I'm still not done. Might get to it Monday evening if it's not too hot. I made a really yummy Strawberry Pie for dessert tonight. It was low fat/sugar. I'm going to make it next time with spenda, but it only had 2TB of sugar, so not too bad.

Erin...Yes you can splenda instead of sugar in the chicken dish. Great job on the bike ride. You will be going up and down those hills in no time.

Michelle...Glad to hear you are feeling better. Hope your Mother is doing better as well. I will keep her in my prayers. Love your picture of yourself.

Robbin...Great job at Applebee's. I love their WW menu. The steak and shrimp is really good! WHOO HOO on the 2 lbs loss. Looks like we both got dusted by the fairy fat mother.

Tina...AWWWww, I guess Robbin and I could share the fat fairy with you. I'll try to kick her your way. Quilting does keep my hands busy and my mouth closed. I only keep a 32 oz cup of water near me to sip on.

Shawn...Swimming is a great way to exercise and less stress on the joints, besides a good way to cool off. Bet you and your girls had fun. Be a year, before I would be caught dead in a swim suit. Look out Next summer, cause I plan on being in one.

Linda...Sorry to hear you are having puter problems. Hope it is up and running better tomorrow. You could send your cool weather my way. Hot and humid here, but we should cool off with the storms coming in tonight.

Off to a car show tomorrow morning, will try to check in later on tomorrow night. Have a nice evening and great day tomorrow.

Cheryl

Michelle 06-04-2006 01:00 AM

LINDA...My new camera is a Kodak Easyshare C643 6.1, and we're really having some fun with it. My cousin has this same camera and every picture she sends me all turn out so good! Thank you so much for the compliment on my new picture. My mom is home now and doing so much better. My daughter and I went over to visit with her and my grandma a little earlier; my grandma flies back home to Iowa tomorrow afternoon. The doctor found out that one of her heart medications was way too high of a dose and it therefore had slowed her heart rate down really really low, and also her potassium level was too high. Her dosage has been adjusted and she's already doing much better.

CHERYL...I am feeling lots better tonight. My husband, daughter and I went out to lunch at Red Lobster and then my daughter did some summer shopping at JCPenney today. Thank you for your compliment!

TINA...My sister has stepped up now and is handling my mom's banking and personal info. I have backed away because it is affecting my health and family way too much. I still find though I'm worrying too much about my mom, but she's my mom and I just have such a hard time.

ryanmi72 06-04-2006 06:32 AM

Hi Gals

Yikes...what a hectic past couple of days...just seems like I haven't sat down at the computer for more than 2 minutes all weekend. But, I have been reading about everyone, and it seems that you are all doing great-yahoooooo!!!

Cheryl, that recipe looks excellent...looks like I have a new dish to try! Thanks for sharing...it looks delicious!

Shawn, I was at the store and saw frozen peaches, and thought I'd pick some up to try...talk about a refreshing and AWESOME treat! I may be hooked! :)

Michelle, after taking care of my grandmother the past 9 years, I certainly understand what you are going through with your mother. It's so hard to actually put yourself first or make time for yourself without feeling "guilty", I know...but you have to take time for yourself and take care of yourself or you are no good to her! A lesson it took me far too long to learn, unfortunately...:( That said, it sounds like she is doing much better, which is great news!!

Erin, I have been looking into getting a bike-you may have convinced me! I may be out peddling in no time!!! That is, if I actually remember how and still have the coordination to ride!! :D

Robbin, that bread sounds awesome-I will have to check it out as well...I'm not a huge breakfast person, especially during the week, but that sounds like something I could handle...:)

Linda-I have a cable modem, and there are times that it is slower than heck, or when they are "working on the lines" and I have no internet/email/etc...it drives me nuts!! Thank God it isn't often-I know your frustration well! Hang in there...if it is any consolation, mine seems to happen in spurts all at once, then be fine for months...:crossed:

Tina, I'll be getting some of that Breyers Ice Cream...it sounds excellent! Bet it would be good with a little skim milk, blended as a mlkshake. Mmmm...even better on a warm summer night...:beach:

Not much else to report here...I finally got my new scale so I will be weighing in loater on this morning! I never had a scale before-never wanted to depress myself! But I have been doing well watching my calories and trying to get a little extra movement in, so I will be excited to see where my official "start point" ends up! I do have an idea where I was at as of a few weeks ago, so we'll see...maybe I will have some un-official good news? Hopefully...:)

RRVMMM 06-04-2006 10:59 AM

Morning girls, I just thought I would pop in for a minute or two. I wont do personals now but will try to be back tonight.

We took the two little ones to the movies last night to see Over The Hedge and that is the cutest movie. I did really well with only two small handfulls of popcorn and snuck in my bottle of water so no soda for me. YAY. I weighed this morning and the scales are still down to 240 so I guess I did ok moving my ticker yesterday. 1 more pound and I will be in the 30's I havent been there in so long.

Well better get a move on I have a bunch of housework and yard work to do today.

ELEM-PGF 06-04-2006 01:26 PM

Good afternoon girls! Hope ya'll are having a beautiful sunshiny day like i am. Humidity is down still and nothing but sunshine! I am planning on working in the yard today, get a little sun and accomplish something too! (i'm really starting to sound like tina now! Didn't exercise this morning, got home too late and had too much to do before we had to leave for church. I am hoping the yard work will make up for it. I am going to wait to report on scale adventures until tomorrow. Going to try to keep the focus off the numbers for a little while. I did wear a dress to church today that was tight last year and i couldn't even get on about 3 months agop and now is bordering on too big to wear. Flashes some things a little too easily!

Michelle hope the migraine has 'left the building" and leaves you alone for a while! Glad to hear a medication change was all your mom had going on at the moment. We love our parents and want them to be well but we can't make them do it for themselves either! Very frustrating for those who love them!

Robbin I have been wanting to take my kids to see "Over the Hedge" but haven't made time to do it yet. Glad to hear a positive review. HUGE CONGRATS on the 2# loss and keeping it off this morning yet! :carrot: :cb: :bravo: :cp: I am probably going to have to move my ticker back up tomorrow but we will see what happens in the morning, maybe i can sweat a little off today!

Linda sending some sunshine and warmth your way! ::sunny: So sorry to hear about your computer problems, have you tried cussing at it a time or two, no just kidding! but a swift kick never hurts!

Tina my brother had a cart thing that hooks to the back of his bike to pull both of his kids at the same time, they would nap and he would ride. He's a sick man for sure has ridden as much as 75 miles in a day! I am going to try to get mine into the shop soon and give it a little TLC then we'll see what happens from there!

Shawn I am so jealous of the swimming! I am probably going to end up in the kids pool sometime today but would love to do some real laps. Congrats on the good choices!! It's so empowering! :cheer:

Cheryl sounds like you enjoyed your new lawn mower! Glad to hear it! Okay, where's the recipie for the strawberry pie? That sounds delicious even without any details! I thought you were going to gone this weekend, and not able to log in, did you not go away or was the plan different than i understood? Glad to be hearing from you though!!!:)

Ryanmi Lets just say about thirty pounds ago i tried the bike and like to have broken my neck!!! I have definitley improved in the coordination department since i have been exercising more. Best thing to do is start with something and have at it!! I want to learn to rollerskate too. Got them for the kids and myself at christmas, have had them on twice since then. Very scary!! Golf umbrellas make great skate poles!

Liliann haven't heard from you in a day or so, hope your motivation is still high and you are doing well! If not don't fret too much about it, highs and lows are expected just hang in there and don't be afraid to ask for help!

Robsia, Tracey, Cassie, and Liza hope ya'll are doing well and we will hear from ya'll again soon!

Well off to discover lunch change clothes and get busy! My husband is going to try to cut the grass and will move some stuff around in HIS building so i may end up cleaning and re-arranging my garage instead of the flower bed. Moving none the less and that is a good thing! Talk to ya'll soon, have a fabulous day!!! Erin

Michelle 06-04-2006 02:30 PM

ERIN...Thank you for your kind words! That's so great about your dress almost being too loose now! Doing yard work is hard and that is certainly considered to be good exercise!;)

meowee 06-04-2006 05:27 PM

Hi there, everybody. . . another cold and rainy day . . . not only did I have to close all the windows, the heat keeps coming on.:( Probably won't last much longer and then I'll be able to start complaining about how hot and humid it is, too. ;)

 Tina . . . I really envy you your strength in the face of ice cream. I've tried and I don't succeed so I just leave it at the store. Someday I hope to actually develop 'ice cream portion control'.

 Shawn . . . see you later. Have a great day.

 Cheryl . . . puter seems OK again today, thanks . . . looking forward to seeing your strawberry pie recipe. I've got one I'll dig out and post one of these days, too; now that you've got me thinking about it.

 Michelle . . . so glad you Mother's immediate crisis has been resolved . . . now, if she'd just take her diabetes a little more seriously, you might really be able to relax. The new camera seems really great; glad you're having fun with it.

 Ryanmi . . . I've got a cable modem too, and most of the time it's great, but it does have its wonky moments. Good luck with the new scale, but try not to get too addicted to it. Remember, it's only a number. It's the overall direction that counts.

 Robbin . . . Great job at the movies. I love cartoons (just a big kid at heart). Hope the 30's come your way by tomorrow, girl.

 Erin . . . congratulations on that great dress-related NSV. Moments like that make everything worthwhile. Much more meaningful than a number on the scale. Thanks for the effort, kiddo. I'd like to see some sun.

The day has been ticking along fine for me . . . eating right and I actually did a little bit of in-front-of-the-TV exercise. Also started working on a new cross-stitch I designed for a nephew (and about to be niece-in-law) who are getting married in September. Just a little something to go along with the cheque I know they will like (and be able to put to good use).

Here's a cute little FFF for today . . . luckily most of you are too young to remember how awful the first frozen dinners used to be . . . In the early 1950's the Swanson company discovered they had 520,000 lbs of excess turkey on their hands so they created the very first "TV Dinner" consisting of turkey with corn-bread dressing, buttered peas and sweet potatoes and packaged it in a three-compartment aluminum tray and put it in a box that looked like a TV set. They really were awful but proved extremely popular. The rest, as they say, is history.

Keep on moving and shaking, gang. Here's some :dust: to help us through. See you tomorrow. :carrot:

RRVMMM 06-04-2006 09:34 PM

I don't know about anyone else but I just love Linda's Food Facts.

Just popped in to say good night. I had a very long busy day and am going to get to bed early. The boss is back in town tomorrow, so I wont be here as much as this last week but will make sure to get my morning post's in.
Its a new week girls lets make the most of it.

ELEM-PGF 06-05-2006 07:24 AM

Good morning ladies! Hope ya'll had a fantastic weekend and your week is starting out great! I started out by having to move my ticker up to 266:( , too much salt yesterday and a little excess eating of triscuits and sugar free ice cream. On the good news side though, we are doing a "biggest loser" competition at church and when i weighed in there i had lost 5 pounds since last week for a total of 21 for their records. Felt good after the dress and all. Did my 2 mile on the eliptical in 14 min 45 sec this morning, 30 sec better than my last time. May not be a huge difference but made me feel good!

Linda sorry the weather will not cooperate with my instruction! We had a few showers yesterday afternoon, enough to cut my yard work shorter than i wanted but not enough to keep hubby and kids from going fishing! SO what exactly is "in front of the TV exercise"? You'll have to post a pic of the new cross stitch.

Robbin I agree on Linda's food facts, they are great! Exactly on the new week, new start! Always a little more stressful when the boss is around but I'm sure you will still have a great week.

Well thanks to hubby inviting friends over after the fishing yesterday, we didn't have supper until 9pm and didn't get to bed till 11:30, very late for me!! SO I am dragging this morning to say the least and really want to see if i can get a short nap before I have to shower and head out! Hope ya'll have a fantastic day and will see you this afternoon!

meowee 06-05-2006 11:22 AM

My goodness . . . where is everybody hiding this morning . . . it's usually not this quiet on a Monday morning.

Another cool and rainy morning for Nova Scotia. :( The forecast does say we will see a little sun later this afternoon. Hope they really mean it. :) I am getting tired of watching the grass grow. :p Been working on the cross-stitch this morning . . . doing clouds . . . so that the rainbow has someplace to spring from. I'll post a picture when it's done.

Robbin . . . Thanks a lot. Hope your day isn't too busy at work. We would miss your posts. See you when you get a chance to pop in.

Erin . . . Thank you, too and don't you worry, the www will be gone again soon. In-front-of-the-TV = any little exercise video you happen to have handy, like WATP, Yoga, Richard Simmons, etcetera.

A little 'yuckie' for today's FFF . . .
. . . Entomophagy is the scientific name for insect eating and there are over 1,400 edible insect species in the world. Most of them are lower in fat and higher in protein than chicken. Suddenly, Tofu is starting to sound a lot better to me.

Have a good day, gang. Keep moving and shaking and heading in that great downward direction. See you soon. :carrot:

Robsia 06-05-2006 12:02 PM

Well, back off my research trip-cum-holiday. The moment of truth came this morning when I stepped on the scales and, as I predicted, I had put on 4 lbs!! How come it takes weeks of effort to lose it and it goes on in a few days!!

I am hoping some of it is water as I did some drinking, and that it will come off fairly quickly. But I did do some eating of pizzas also - whoops!!

Ah well - the trip was great and I did lots of work. And it was fun too. But back to work this morning and back to the old diet also!!

LadyLai 06-05-2006 02:54 PM

Happy Monday!

Afternoon girlies!!

Shawn, swimming is so much fun and great exercise. Thanks to you I took my daughter to the public pool on friday. They had family swim between 12-1pm, so the place was practically empty. It was great. I put my daughter on one of those floating foam thingys and I swam around pushing her to get some exercise. Great job with making excellent food choices!

Cheryl, holy canoli! That's a lot of mowing! But like you said a great excercise. MMMmmm...pie sounds great! Please put you're best college football foot forward...I need that fairy fat mother ASAP! LOL!

Michelle, of course you worry about your mom...SHE'S YOUR MOM! We love them and want them to live a healthy long life. Sometimes it would be easier if they just cared about themselves as much as we do. My mom takes care of all my grandmothers affairs. My grandfathter married her when she was young..I think 16. Back then you know kids had to help out large families, so she was pulled out of school at gr. 3 to help raise kids and keep house when her mom got sick w/ TB. She doesn't have knowledge nor confidence to even try to do things on her own, so since my grandfather died my mom has stepped in. She won't have any of the other 5 kids at all. I watch how stressful this is on my mom and I wish I could take some of the load because I worry about her...she isn't taking care of herself very well. When I try to talk her into getting grandmother a little more independant she breaks down and says my grandfather asked her to take care of her on his dying bed. And that's all she hears. And it isn't a easy task because he spoiled her! LOL! He used to get up in the mornings and bring her her breakfast, her pills needed and a warm facecloth to her while in bed. Try keeping up with that! LOL! She is very specific, very picky and very clingy. She has to drive 45mins. so she can visit her own doctor (grandmother moved and will not try a new doc). All I can say is thank God she moved in with my moms sister that happens to be in the same city as me. I hope things start looking up for you soon, as I know how stressful things can get when you're worried about someone elses well-being, especially your moms. Hang in there!

Ryanmi, you won't be sorry. That icecream is well worth it! In my opinion anyways! Just remember that beginning weight is only a beginning weight...you'll be decreasing it very shortly! ;) Looking forward to hearing some unofficial good news girlie!

Robbin, I enjoyed Over the Hedge on saturday night too. Unfortunately I wasn't smart enough to smuggle in some water. I paid $3.50 for a bottle of theirs! Sheesh!

Erin, the thing I'm talking about is called a tag-along. It's so cute. I had my husband looking at bicycles yesterday but he made no purchase. :( I will have to pull out the big guilt trip and say..don't you want us to be active as a family?? hahaha! Sorry about the scale this morning, but I'm telling you from experience, you've probably started gaining muscle weight. You're doing so well with exercising. Great experience at church though! You must of felt so proud of yourself.

Linda, believe me it's hard to limit myself to the icecream too. Seeing it is my sweet allowance for the whole day. But I guess I just want to see some #'s drop more than I want seconds. LOL! If only it were like that everyday huh?! I love cross-stitch. I haven't picked it up in ages. I have so many started projects but yet to finish. Would love to see a pic of yours.

Robsia, sounds like you had a great time. How did all your research go. Will you have much editing to do to your book now that you gathered some info.? Don't worry, you'll be working off that little weight blurp in no time! Knowing you, I give it a few days. Glad you had fun!

Well girls, I have no scale victories to report. I was getting a little frustrated with it all this weekend. I decided to have a cheat...KFC! Need I say more. I've put too much pressure on myself giving myself a "time limit". I've decided to look at it in a different perspective (I was so looking at my vacation goal as written in stone), so I've decided to take it with a grain of salt. Whatever I lose between now and then is fine with me. As long as I still maintain a healthy lifestyle, that's all that matters. And this little tidbit of info made me feel a heck of a lot better, so I decided to share...this maybe good news for you too Erin.

Flex your muscles on a regular basis, and you can forget about losing weight! Sound crazy? Actually, it's not. When you start building muscle, it's quite possible you'll get skinnier without losing any weight at all. That's because a pound of muscle takes up a lot less space than a pound of fat. So, every time you "trade" a pound of fat for a pound of muscle, you lose size withough losing a lot of weight.

Considering I've been working out every evening for the past two weeks with 3-5lbs. weights, alternating between high and low intensity. I am putting a lot faith into this theory.

Well I guess that's it. Have a great day ladies! I'll see you later!

TTFN!
~Tina

Afternoon

Good Day All...

I will try and do personals later, but wanted to just stick my head in...I am working my rear off today at work! :comp: :write: I don't think I've gotten this much done in quite awhile-PLUS, I took a walk around campus as well...so I did get a bit of movement in! The hot, humid weather makes it difficult for me to be outside exercising for long, b/c of allergies and asthma, but I did a few flights of stairs and a brisk walk around the main campus green...:running: Now, I am HOTTT!

I did the whole "break the scale in" thing...turns out, I am down 11lbs from where I thought I was-so that was exciting! :goodscale I am weighing once a week-I put the scale in the cabinet so I wouldn't look at it and obsess...which is good, because I slept horribly last night, and had a slice of pizza for lunch :o -one of those days when I need something greasy to make it through the day! :jeno: Oh well...shredded wheat for dinner and an early bedtime...

Hope everyone is having a superb Monday!!! :balloons:

ELEM-PGF 06-05-2006 04:52 PM

Afternoon ladies, kids are playing and i am sitting here in my bathing suit contemplating yard work or float...no teach my kids how to float, yeah that's it, teach the kids to float! Anyway, thought i'd jump in quick while i had the chance. Going to bed early to make up for last night and the fact i gotta get up early in the morning.

Tina You are so right about the muscle fat issue. Maybe we need to find an outfit that is a little snug to be seen in public now and keep trying it on about every 2-3 weeks and see how it fits, may be a lot more telling than the scales! How old is your daughter? Somehow i seemed to have missed that, i thought she was older than a child who would like to be pushed around a pool! Sounds like great exercise though! My husband finally is getting the bug and went to the Y with our kids today and played in the pool. He was supposed to work out first and then play in the pool, but had a hard time finding the childcare folks so gave up and went swimming! Anyway, at least he wasn't sitting on the couch all day! Plus he tuckered out the kids a little, we need an early night!

Linda I know the lack of sunshine can really get to a girl after a while! Hopefully it makes its way there later today! Can't wait to see the cross stitch! Oh and the thought of eating bugs may be enough to kill my cravings i am fighting at the moment!!! YUCK!

Robsia Glad you had fun on your trip, what kind of research were you doing? I am sure the 4 pounds will come off quickly with a lot of water and a little dedication you can accomplish a lot, hopefully as fast as it came on!

Ryanmi Whoohoo for the walking at work, that is something i said i would do many times but never seemed to do it. I sweat so bad i was always afraid i would offend anyone i saw after getting it done! Also a big WOWEE on the 11 pounds less than what you thought! that is huge! good idea putting the scale out of sight, from a scale obsessed person, try to stay out of that trap!

Well ladies, i hear screaming so better check on the kiddos, sounds like playing though not pain! Have good one! Erin

LadyLai 06-05-2006 04:52 PM

Just thought I'd share...

Hey girls. I bought a new cook book written by a couple fellow canadians, it's called "Eat, Shrink and be Merry" by Janet and Greta Podleski. The recipes are really simple, doesn't send you to 3-4 different grocery stores for ingredients. The best part is, is that it's healthy cooking. It's filled with funny facts, tidbits of useful info and trivia. I haven't been able to put it down due to that. I just read this and thought I'd share:

~Want to burn fat like there's no tomorrow? Then tomorrow, wake up and smell your running shoes! Studies show that exercising first thing in the morning before breakfast for a mere 20 minutes is more effective in melting fat than a full hour of aerobic exercise performed later in the day after you've eaten. When you first wake up, your blood sugar and carbohydrates reserves are at thier lowest levels. So, if you exercise before eating your Wheaties, you force your body to look elsewhere for energy to fuel your rude awakening. That "elsewhere" is stored fat. Need another incentive to rise and shine your sneakers? Exercising in the moring kick-starts your metabolism when it's naturally the slowest. Normally, your metabolism doesn't peak until the afternoon, but now you've iginited a fat-burning fire that'll blaze all day long. Simply put, the early bird gets the burn!~

I think I'll try working on the treadmill before breakfast from now on! From now on when you see these tidbits of info, you know where I've found them.

Here's a little "Pop Quizine"

In the late 1800's, Chicago-native Nancy Green was better known as...

a) Betty Crocker
b) Aunt Jemima
c) Susie Homemaker
d) Mrs. Butterworth

I'll let you ponder over that one for a while. Catch ya later gators!

~Tina

meowee 06-05-2006 08:49 PM

Tina . . . I know the answer, but will wait to see if anybody else does. . . . BTW, I have all three of Janet's and Greta's books. They are fun in person, too. Their books have always been one of my favourite sources for Fascinating Food Facts. Just in case you care, Greta is the cook; Janet does most of the tips and trivia and dreams up those silly names for the recipes. Actually, the trivia in their first book was what really caught my eye (I think I mentioned that I'm a trivia freak) and was the reason I was anxious to meet them when I got the chance. Enjoy the book; it's good reading and the recipes are good eating, too. ;)

Erin . . . enjoy the floating  . . . no matter what excuse you use for doing it.;)

Ryanmi . . . absolutely great going on that walking, kiddo. You'll be down another 11 lbs in no time. :)

Robsia . . . never fear, that four pounds will be gone again in no time. You are a lean, mean, slimming machine.

Have a great evening, gang. See you tomorrow. :carrot:

shyla2001 06-05-2006 11:05 PM

Hey ladies! Sorry I haven't done personals lately... we had my stepkids for the weekend, and my stepson brought a friend, so we had 5 kids running around here all weekend... talk about busy!!

Okay. SERIOUSLY. I've only been back on plan for NINE DAYS. Why do I expect such huge results so quickly? LOL ... I DID, however, notice that my "biggest" blue jeans were looser this weekend. I was loving it!

I went and worked out tonight... was dreading it, but had a great workout. 20 mins on elliptical (240 cals or so), cooldown on treadmill, then did some arm weights, crunches, and squats. So feel productive :)

Ladies, I'm kinda freaking about Wednesday. I'm going to a "girls night" with a bunch of my friends at a Mexican restaurant. I will be drinking margaritas, and my first inclination is to say "to heck with it" and just "eat whatever" (which would mean fattening stuff!!!). Please help me figure out what my best choices will be, to minimize the damage. I want to plan ahead! But the margaritas are a non-negotiable! LOL Well, unless like a mojito would be better?

Tina ~ I think I've seen a man using that tag-along... it looked pretty cool! I hope you can find one for inexpensive, and that it works good for you! Regarding your trivia, there is NO WAY I'll get up in the a.m. early to exercise... maybe on the weekends when I'm in no rush, but I'll not be rolling out of bed earlier than usual during the week LOL. I DO, however, hope your trivia fact is right about muscle. I've heard that before, and it's so frustrating when the scale doesn't move. But that's why I'm glad I have you girls, to help keep me motivated, even during my times of frustration!

Ryanmi - very cool you got a new scale, and EVEN COOLER that you are down 11 pounds! Wow! I think it's good you put it up... my weight varies depending on the time of day, so I really need to weigh less often... it would save alot of frustration on my part!

Erin - that's awesome about your dress! Doesn't it feel wonderful when we can get back into the smaller sizes!?? Hope you & the kids had fun in the pool!

Linda - I know your nephew will LOVE the check & cross-stich! I have got so many graduations & weddings this month & next that we're going to be in the poor-house! On the bright side, I hope to be a size or two smaller for my brother's wedding in July!

Robsia - glad you are back on track ~ that 4 pounds will come right off! Just keep up your hard work, and you'll see the results!

Well, ladies... it's 10pm here, so I'm going to wrap it up... have a great day tomorrow!! *grouphug*

Cheryl120 06-05-2006 11:27 PM

Hi Ladies,

Got back late this afternoon and always glad to be home. Had a great time at the car show, lots of beauitful cars, the weather was great, and the lake was beautiful. After doing great all week on my eating, bad choices yesterday and today. KFC and pizza:devil: Going to have to get up early and start mowing before it gets HOT. Hopefully I'll sweat/walk off a couple of pounds. I can wish can't I. LOL
Ozzy is back home and resting tonight. My poor baby had 8 teeth pulled today! 4 front bottom teeth, 3 top front teeth and a molar. At least he will not be in pain once his mouth heals in a couple of days.

Michelle...Congrats on your new camera and new picture of you. Love it!!!

Michelle 2...11 pounds less than you thought is AWESOME!!! BTW, great job on the exercising.

Robbin...Hey girl, glad I'm not the only one to smuggle water and snacks into a movie. 1 pound till the 230's, how excited you must be.:carrot:

Erin...Yes, I was gone this weekend. Left early yesterday morning and had a great time with hubby. Strawberry Pie is posted below. Congrats on the dress being too big. Always a good feeling.:D

Linda...Love you food facts. After todays bug one, tofu is beginning to sound very appetizing.

Robsia...Glad you had a good trip. I'm sending the fairy fat mother:wizard: your way. Here's hoping she sprinkles a little fat reducing dust on you.

Tina...We live on a 10 acre farmstead and have 7 acres of lawn to mow. It's never ending during the summer months and with hubby only getting a couple days off every other week, it's hard to keep it up. He mows with the big tractor, daughter is on the riding lawnmower and I have the push mower. It takes us most of the day if the weather is decent.

Strawberry Pie

2 pints fresh strawberries, hulled
2 TB cornstarch
1 1/2 cups water
1 PKG (.3 oz) sugar-free strawberry jello
3TB sugar
1 reduced-fat graham cracker crust
2 cups reduced-fat whipped topping

Slice strawberries and set aside. In a saucepan, combine cornstarch and water until smooth. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Remove from heat; stir in jello and sugar until dissolved. Stir in sliced strawberries. Pour into crust. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours or until firm. Serve with whipped topping.

Serves: 8 (1 piece with 1/4 cups topping) equals 197 cal, 5g fat, 2g fiber, WW points:4

* You can use 4TB splenda for the sugar and adjust the total calories.

This is really YUMMY girls!! I'm pretty tired, so will check in tomorrow.

Cheryl

RRVMMM 06-06-2006 09:36 AM

Holy Cow! I just realized I never posted yesterday. Now I have a whole day to catch up on.

Linda – Total YUCK on the FFF yesterday. I didn’t make it here yesterday cause I was so busy at work, then when I got home we had baseball practice to go to then you know the drill – dinner, dishes, laundry and baths before bed. Of course you know the answer to Tina’s question you are a bundle of info yourself.

Robsia – Nice to see your face again. You have done so good with your losses I am sure that 4 pounds you picked up on holiday/research will be gone in no time.

Tina – Wasn’t that movie just adorable. I loved the squirrel. You have really good on loosing and I think that you really do need to ease up on yourself a little. It will happen but maybe just not in a certain time frame. And to answer the quiz question I think it is A) Betty Crocker. But I really have no clue.

Ryanmi – Congrats on the 11 pounds – isn’t it exciting. You did great with the walking, keep it up.

Shawn – We went to eat Mexican a couple of weeks ago and I ordered a Chicken Burrito with out the Sour Cream Sauce and instead rice and beans I had a double order of rice. Before my meal came I made sure the bowl of chips sat far enough away that when I wanted one I had to ask my daughter to hand it to me. I then broke off small pieces and dipped into the salsa. By doing that I only ate 6 chips. Your best bet would be to order something with chicken, make sure it is not deep fried, and leave off either the sauce or cheese (not both cause then it would be no good).

Cheryl – Sounds like you had a fun mini vacation. Don’t worry about the bad food choices, you know they don’t happen very often and you have been doing very good. I think that if we don’t have our days with bad choices every now and then, we won’t stick with this. I am sure that pushing that mower will definitely burn some extra pounds. Strawberry pie sounds yummy cant wait to try it.

Liza – Of course it is ok to just pop back in. We are all here for each other and would never turn one of our own away. Everyone welcomed me with open arms when I started and I am here with a big hug for you now that you are back.

Well girls I really ought to get to work, before the boss gets in. Oh by the way, whoever it was that mentioned frozen peaches, thanks for the great idea. I am hooked, guess what I am eating right now?

Morning Ladies,

In for a mini break from mowing and eating my breakfast. Thought I'd try Tina's tip about exercise.:D Already have done 35 minutes of sweating and mowing.

Shawn...Your best bet for eating out Wednesday is Chicken Fajitas without the flour tortillas for 7 points. Salads are also good choices, but who wants a salad when your having mexican. Burritos can run you from 12pts up to 24pts depending on what kind of yummy goodies they have inside. Robbin had a good idea about only taking 6 chips and breaking them up and dipping in the salsa. Watch the beans and rice as well. Go out and enjoy yourself and don't fret!!

Liza...Good to see you back and glad to hear you are back to your old self.

Time to get back to the mowing. Later ladies:carrot:

Good Morning all you wonderful little chickies . . . The sun came out this morning, yippee . . . supposed to get dull and rainy again tomorrow but I'll rejoice in the sun while I've got it. To make the day almost perfect, it is only 18C (65F) and since the breeze is out of the north, it probably won't get too much warmer. :D Could it get any better? Yes, maybe I'll invent a miracle potion and get up tomorrow morning 100 pounds lighter.

 Shawn . . . patience girl. You've done wonderfully well in nine days. Wowee, wowee, wow, wow. I know, we all want faster. If I get my miracle tomorrow morning, I'll bottle it and give some to everybody.

 Cheryl . . . and here's an extra one for Ozzy  That pie recipe sounds great . . . I've posted mine below . . . very similar, but extremely different, too. BTW, just heard on the radio that we've got an antique car show in the county this coming weekend. T'is the season, I guess.

 Liza . . . wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. Hope your great feeling continues . . . forever. Good for you for getting back on track and my theory is that the weight that adds on quickly subtracts off again quickly. Go, girl, go.

 Robbin . . . we missed you, but glad to see you back. Try not to work so hard today; tell the boss it really cuts into your personal time . . .he'll understand. ;)

Strawberry Mousse Pie

20 reduced-fat graham crackers, crushed
1/4 cup reduced fat margarine

. . . combine margarine and crumbs, reserving 2 tbsp, press remaining crumb mixture over bottom of 9" spring form pan and bake at 350F for 7 to 8 minutes, set aside to cool.

2 pkgs FF/SF strawberry jello
1.5 cups boiling water
1 300 gram package frozen, unsweetened strawberries (approx.1.5 cups)
1.5 cups FF/SF vanilla yogurt

. . . dissolve jello in boiling water, stir in slightly crushed strawberries and refrigerate about 10 minutes, stir in yogurt and turn into prepared pan, refrigerate at least 4 hours (until set), sprinkle with reserved crumb mixture

Makes 8 servings with 135 calories (sorry I don't know the rest of the nutritional breakdown). If you want a really low-cal treat, make it without the graham cracker/margarine crust. Only 40 calories per serving. Sort of a pie shaped pudding. :dizzy:

Well gang, got to get going . . . I've got an optometrist appointment to get to. See you all later. Keep moving and shaking and heading in that great downward direction (because I really don't expect to be able to bottle up that miracle weight-loss potion anytime soon. :p )

Shawn...I forgot to mention that a 4oz maragarita is 5pts. Boy was that a shock. I usually have a couple margarita grande's with a taquila chaser, probably my total points for a couple of days.:fr: But, boy are they good!!!
Enjoy your night out, you deserve it!!
