Hi ladies! I'm still here! My legs ARE KILLIJNG ME right now, and I'm exhausted. No, I haven't been working out... just been on my feet alot all weekend. Chasing babies, cleaning house, grocery shopping, cooking, swimming (well, that wouldn't have hurt my legs), etc.... I am beat!
I went to scrapbooking crops on both Friday and Saturday night until 11pm. I was so excited to get back into scrapping!! I got everything organized and got all of the Easter pics in albums (which was ALOT because we had a semi-professional photographer take pics, and we have about 150 shots of just those... not to mention the ones I took too). Anyhow, my plan is to get all of 2006 up to date, and then worry about all the older stuff (ie - baby books! and years 2004 and 2005!! which have been consumed with babies!). Well, ladies, since this is the first time I've sat down all day, I'm going to catch up with my emails, balance the checkbook, and such. I will try to get back later for personals. Oh, by the way... the scale moved back down! I was so worried since I had gone out to eat / drinking TWICE this week, but this a.m. when I got on it, the scale read 233!!! I got on again just to be sure.. yup! And then I ate some carrot sticks and it went up to 235... go figure! LOL I think overall, I've just changed my eating habits (TONS of fruit, no more cokes, and just overall watching what goes into my mouth), and I guess it's slowly working! Hurray!! I'm going to wait, though, before I change my ticker. I'll see what it says later tonight or tomorrow. OK, thanks for putting up with all my ramblings. It's good to have you ladies to come chat with and keep me going! :grouphug: |
Went ahead & changed ticker. Scale just showed 234.4, even after dinner. I'll take it! Yay!
|
I'm Baaaack.
Hello ladies. I had a great weekend. As you all can tell by my ticker I finally broke the 240 for good. Yeah 2 more pounds gone off to fat heaven. I didnt make the best food choices today and hopefully that won't hurt me but if it did I have all week to fix it. Welcom Success. This is a great bunch of girls. You will love it here. Ryanmi, sounds like you are getting some good exercise with all the walking you have been doing. Good job, keep it up. Cheryl, I wish you could send some of that rain and cool air my way it has been up 99 the past couple of days. HOT HOT HOT. Linda, I'm glad you are feeling better but hope you are feeling good soon. Shawn, when you finish with your scrapbooking I have 15 years of marriage you could put together for me. LOL I love to scrapbook but never can find the time to do it. When my brother got married last year I put together a scrapbook for him and his wife with pictures of them as kids and growing up then to when they met and some of their dating life then their engagement pic. I left pages for their wedding pics. I have to say it didnt turn out too bad. Well I will check in as soon as I can tomorrow but I have to report for jury duty at 9 am so I am not sure when it will be. Have a good evening. |
Well girls, i first have to share some good news, the ticker is down!! Although i have continued to weigh frequently, i decided to wait till mondays to actually post about it and yeah! I may make my goal of being in the 250's when i leave for family trip to PA. Unfortunatley, I am going to have to make an early short trip there due to my Grandfather passing away yesterday morning. He has suffered for a very long time from ailing health and had actually been on his "death bed" many times in the last year and a half. It is a blessing for him but still hard for all of us. Anyway, I am flying out to PA wednesday morning and will come back saturday. My parents have a computer and internet access but not sure how often i will be able to get on. Lots to do to get ready before i go too so not sure when i will get to chat with ya'll again. But I will be thinking of you all and praying for continued success!
Michelle - you're right walmart is not crowded with people at 5 am but they are full of stuff, i hit the middle of restocking and couldn't even get through some isles! But it was worth it just to be able to do it without kids asking for everything they see. Swimming is so good, the kids just love it and it helps me too. Not to mention i have the best tan i have had in probably 20 years! Boy is that pitiful! Tina - sounds like you are as full of energy as always, playing with two little ones and then mowing! You are a better woman than I! Cheryl - yes the 24hour walmart is wonderful. Just wish it was in a little better part of town so i could take advantage of the crowd free shopping a little more often! I do hope your weather straightens out for the car show. Haven't been paying much attention to the weather here but heard TS Alberto is in the Gulf and heading for FLA. if it keeps a straight course there shouldn't bother me but like i said before, a little soaking rain would be nice. Linda - Hope you get to feeling like yourself again soon! Shawn - busy is always good, but definitely exhausting! I am jealous of you getting the cleaning done. I need to be doing that but have managed to put it off quite well all weekend! Also glad to hear the scale is in the downward direction. That is wonderful! Robbin - WHOO HOO on the land of 230's!! You are an inspiration! I thought i heard a happy dance going on this weekend! That is just great! Hope jury duty is a good experience for you and not too much of hassle! Well gang gotta run, need to get paperwork done and get the day planned out. Also need to check on Alberto and see if he is going to mess with my travel plans. If i miss ya'll the rest of the week, have a good one! Erin |
Morning-
Erin- I'm so sorry to hear about your grandfather. Believe me, I understand what you're going through-I'll keep your family in my thoughts this week.
As far as why I take the steroids...well...I have vocal cord nodules. I have had little to no voice for almost a year-I used to always lose my voice once or twice a year, and it would always come back, but after my horrid bout with allergies and asthma last summer, my voice just never came back 100%. It was doing better for awhile, but then around Christmas I lost it almost totally. The best I got back was a real scratchy squeek! So, after visiting numerous ENT's, and having many pictures of my throat and vocal cords taken, I was diagnosaed with vocal cord nodules. Basically, I have huge growths all along my vocal cords. There should normally be space between the vocal cords, and the vibration of the cords is what produces the sound of your voice-I had no space-in fact, my cords wered actually growing together! I tried the voice rest (no talking at all) for a week-10 days or so, but that just wasn't an option for me, especially at work. :ziplip: :tape: So, the doctor prescribed steroids for me, to help reduce the swelling of the cords and nodules, and apparently that, along with voice therapy, is supposed to work! If it doesn't, I have to have reconstructive surgery on my vocal cords...I figure as long as I have a voice, I'll be happy. Truth be told, the steroids are helping, as I do have about 60% use of my voice-vast improvement from what I had! But the side effects are terrible...I have to take the medrol pack (it's a 6-1 pack 6pills the first day, then 5, then 4, etc...) because I can't take Prednizone, so I take a pack for 6 days, then am off 5, then repeat. The first two days are the worst, because I take so many pills, but then after that, it starts to level out...I don't get crabby or irritable, I just get the horrid migraine, can't sleep well, and I am constantly hungry! Like there is a huge Pac-Man in my stomach...I could eat through an entire buffet and after an hour, it's like I haven't eaten in a week! :hun: :hun: :hun: I actually have taken these same steroids for asthma and allergies as well-You're right-they do work great for that-one plus is that I have not had horrible flare-ups this summer like I did last summer, probably because of the steroids! Now that I have written a book... Have a Great Day Girls! |
Hey gang . . . I think I'm back to normal . . . or as close to normal as I ever get. The screen still looks a little too bright, but at least I'm not in pain. :carrot: I'm not going to push my luck by going back to look at everything I've missed though, so please forgive me if I seem a bit out of sync, I'll eventually get my act together. :^:
It is still relatively cold here . . . had the heat on again this morning, The sun finally came out late this afternoon so hopefully things are on the mend at least for most of this week. The long term forecast is threatening that Alberto (now a minor hurricane) will be in our part of the Atlantic by Friday. Hopefully they are wrong. :( Shawn . . . Wow, you have been busy. Afraid I'm not much on picture taking or scrapbooking but I'm always impressed by those who do it. Congratulations on keeping busy with the exercising and congratulations of sticking that ticker where it belongs . . . Go, girl, go. Robbin . . . Congratulations. The chanting worked for you, too. YAY!! Hope you'll get a chance to drop in to at least say Hi while you're on Jury duty. Hope you get an interesting case. Erin . . . Yay!! Another ticker move. Congratulations. Sorry to hear about your Grandfather, but at least his tough times are over. Hope Alberto leaves you alone. Sounds like his path is going to be well east of you. I've got my :crossed: . Ryanmi . . . The problems with your vocal cords sound just deadful. Do you have a lot of pain with the lack of voice? It's horrible when the cure is almost as bad as the original problem but I'm sure the surgery wouldn't be any fun either so hopefully it won't be needed. One bright note . . . bet your staff was happy during that 10 days of complete silence. :joker: Nothing too exciting for me, today. I've been keeping a fairly low profile for fear of scaring up another migraine (sometimes a change back to higher pressure can bring them on too). Unfortunately I have been spending a fair amount of time on the 'work-project', but nothing too taxing yet. Saw I cute little saying in a cross-stitch book today . . . LET'S TRY TO GET THE FUN BACK IN DIS-FUN-CTIONAL . . . sort of went well with my mood. :D Hopefully, I see you all tomorrow, gang. Keep moving and shaking and doing all the other good stuff, too. :carrot: |
Evening
Haa haa haa...Linda, you're so funny! :p :lol3: ;)
Actually, my staff was the reason I had so much trouble w/the non-talking! God forbid any of them actually take some initiative...the first day I was home on the "rest", I got 5 calls, and at least a dozen emails! The rest of the week...well, it didn't go much better. Plus, I was so antsy and bored that after about two days, I wanted someone to talk to anyway, so I didn't care anymore! In my position, it's damn near impossible to be gone for long stretches of time, and even more impossible not to talk! I deal with families, parents, and students and their various issues all day long...Since I can't seem to keep my mouth shut, that's why I'm on the steroids! :p To answer your question, my throat doesn't hurt one bit-it never has. I feel like a champ! So, feeling great makes it that much harder to shut up! :tape: I always got poor marks in behavior at school- "Failure to exhibit self-control"...K-6!!! Guess that's the nice way of saying I talked too much...:D |
Erin...So Sorry to hear your grandfather has passed. My thoughts and prayers will be with you. Hope you get some much needed rain from Alberto. We are suppose to be back to the mid 80's by Wednesday, so hopefully it will be nice for the car show.
Robbin...WHOHOO on your pounds lost. So you and Shawn are hogging the fairy fat mother. LOL! You can send her my way. Shawn...Congrats on your loss as well. I would of taken the 233, but that's just me. Michelle...Having nodules on your vocal cords, you would think it would hurt, like a sore throat or something. Glad it doesn't effect you in anyway. Don't think I could go one day let alone 10 days with out talking. Always been pretty chatty. Linda...Glad to hear you don't have a million little men pounding in your head. Hope you are on the mend. Haven't done much of anything today, except go to town to have some papers faxed and go to the bread store. I have to get back out and start mowing again tomorrow. I look at it as exercise. Talk to you ladies tomorrow. Cheryl |
Good morning girls. I am going to get a quickie in here and then have to head out but wanted ya'll to know how much i appreicate your condolences. I am fighting the urge to binge out on comfort foods so hard. It's how i always dealt with major life stresses like this so I am lost and your support means a lot!
Ryanmi, i went 6 mos with a "man voice" as i called it due to recurrent sinus infections/bronchitis and was just starting to develop the nodules when i got to an ent who said SHUT UP! Fortunately I lived alone and work was willing to work with me so it worked. I feel for you girl, mine never even got close to that bad and i know how frustrated I was! Linda - glad to hear the migraine is on the way out! Alberto seems to be staying east of us so may only have a few small rains but we got a good soaker yesterday afternoon Cheryl as i said to linda alberto may actually make us more dry not wet since he is staying fairly east of us. Ya'll have a good week and i will try to check in in the am before i fly out. |
Good Morning . . . Nova Scotia has sun this morning and pleasant (coolish) temperatures. I hope it lasts for a long, long time. :D
Ryanmi . . . Wow, I'm glad to hear there is no pain. I know what you mean, I always have a hard time shutting up, too. ;) Cheryl . . . You go girl. All that mowing is great exercise. :D Erin . . . Glad you are managing to stay away from the comfort food. I know how hard it is. Hang in there. Glad you got some rain, too. :) Kind of quiet around here with so many people missing . . . Robbin, Tina, Michelle, Lois . . . etcetera . . . you are missed, girls. Here are a few FFF about popcorn . . . one of my personal favourites . . . and a healthy snack as long as you stay away from the fat and the salt. The Aztecs were the first to pop corn, but they didn't eat it, they used it for decoration . . . North Americans eat approximately 47 quarts of popcorn per year, per person . . . Two quarts of plain air-popped popcorn = the calories in 15 potato chips . . . Use herbs to replace salt on popcorn (garlic powder, chili powder, basil, oregano are good) . . . Corn kernels need to contain enough moisture to pop; the stubborn kernels that refuse to pop are too dry. Have a great day moving and shaking and heading in the great downward direction. See you soon. :carrot: |
Oops . . . PS . . . I really do know how to spell dysfunctional . . . just can't type too well, I guess.
|
Morning Ladies, I don't have any time for personals except Erin I know we can not say anything to make you feel better but please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers and I am so sorry for you loss.
That being said I just wanted to drop in and let you all know I am still here. I had a very busy day yesterday with jury duty and then a ball game and today is going to be the same. I really cant say much about the jury duty except that they called me for a specific case and I haven't been questioned yet, so I do not know if I will be on the jury for this case. I gotta run I will check back as soon as possible |
Wow . . . where is everybody . . . MichelleRP . . . Tina . . . are you guys still out there? Please come out and play with us.
|
Yippee . . . the Fairy-Fat-Mother visited me last night and took another 1.8 pounds off to ugly-pound-heaven.
|
Yay Linda, that is a big drop you made. I am happy for you.
What has happened to our group? Everyone has dissapeared. It could be that everyone is enjoying the summer weather and are out and about but is very unlike Michelle and Tina to not check in. I hope everyone comes back soon. Check back later |
Good Morning Robbin and Linda-
Congrats Linda on your loss...:carrot: :carrot: :carrot: !!! That's awesome! Robbin, hope the jury duty is at least interesting, if nothing else! :judge: Have a good day gals! |
LINDA... CONGRATS on the 1.8 pounds down!!!:cp: :hat:  :dancer: :cheer: I haven't been on the computer much lately; just have been in a little downer mood, but I've been doing my WATP every day this week now and I do feel better with that!
ROBBIN... Hope jury duty is going okay for you. That is something I hope I NEVER have to do again! Hello to eEVERYONE else and hope all of you are having a good evening! Today was my daughter's last day if school now for summer so she's very happy. Tonight we're going to my niece's 6th grade graduation so I best be getting ready!:grouphug: |
Good Morning Ladies.
Michelle it is good to see you. Sorry you are feeling bummed out. Not much to report here other than the scales were down .4 this morning to 237.6 YAY. Maybe I will have another good drop this week when my Sunday Weigh In gets here. Well gonna get to work. |
ROBBIN... CONGRATS on the scale being down this morning! Every little bit is that much closer!!!:cheer: :cp: :bravo: :hat:  :flow1: :twirly: :cheer: I haven't been eating so good ALL the time this week, but I have been sticking with my WATP, which is a good step for me. Hope you have a great day!
|
Hi Michelle . . . Hi Robbin . . . It's great to see both of you . . . but where or where is everybody else. . . . it's beginning to look like a ghost town around here.
It's raining again (supposedly our little touch of Alberto) and I'm feeling sort of 'iffy' . . . no headache but my stomach is a bit upset. Have a good one gang. See you soon. :carrot: |
Hi everyone
Congrats to the losers - you're all doing great. Good news is, I'm down 6.2 from when I came back off my research trip/hols (10 days ago), so I lost the 4 I put on and 2.2 more besides! I have been a busy bee (so what else is new). I'm working on the rewrites for my book, which is what I was off researching, before I submit it to agents. Also I reserved a doman for the #book, which will be called Time Watchers. The domain is www.timewatchers.co.uk but as of yet I'm still waiting for it to be transferred to my hosting company. SO - I have started to set up the website on a subdomain of my other website, so I can transfer it. I only have two pages so far, a home page, that I'm doing a kind of blog on and also I've set up a forum. So why don't you come and check it out. Home page: http://timewatchers.cheapsheetmusic.co.uk Forum: http://timewatchers.cheapsheetmusic.co.uk/forum The link is in my sig also. |
Linda...Congrats on the fairy fat mother paying you a visit. 1.8 lbs is great!! Hope you are feeling better.
Michelle...WTG on doing your WATP! Hope you are feeling better and not so down. Nice that school is finally out for you. Robbin...Congrats on the .4 lbs gone. I know it will be more on Sunday.:carrot: Robsia...WOW! 6.2 lbs, boy has the fairy fat mother been good to YOU!! Of course we all know that you worked very hard for those 6 lbs!! Well gal's, it's been a pretty stressful week for me, but I don't have any goodies in the house to graze on, so I have done good in that area. I have had a horrible headache for the last couple of days, but nothing like what Linda and Michelle had to deal with. I've been going for walks and trying to find some alone time to releeve my stress. At WW on Wednesday, their scale said I had lost 1.8 lbs, but my scale showed no change. So, I'm leaving my ticker where it is at. Either way, I'm happy and heading in the right direction. Got a busy weekend ahead of me. Our car club had it's big car show starting tomorrow night. I work both days, just hope I don't bake like I did last year. I'll try to check in tomorrow sometime. Hope you all have a great weekend. Cheryl |
Howdy Gals- Happy Friday!!!!!!!!
I went to the voice doctor yesterday...it was quite an experience. The bad part first...I was sitting in the chair and he put the stuff down my throat to numb it, so he could take a look, and I started panicking a bit and ended up having an asthma attack right there in the chair! :yikes: What an idiot I am!!! I have been a bit congested as of late, but it's that time of year...when he numbs the throat, it almost feels like it's closing-you can't feel yourself breathing, swallowing, nothing...so yeah...I just got panicky and worked myself into an attack right there! Thank God I was there, I suppose, but still...how embarassing! :( But...the good news is this-I have to take one more round of steroids (mostly for the asthma) and then I can quit! My throat is continuing to heal, and my nodules have reduced by more than half since I started this whole thing! He gave me some vocal exercises to continue doing, and I have to follow up in August! I am excited!!!:woo: Weds. night I had to talk at a thing here at work, and it was my first "public speaking" thing in a long time...I figured I might as well try it-about 1/2 way thru, my voice started giving out, and I struggled to finish my talk...but my normal voice is doing well! I just need to work on building the volume and intensity back up!!! Anyway, that's my good news! I have loaded up on the Excedrin Migraine meds, hopefully I will be ok with this last round of pills...and then I am done!!! Yahoooooooooo.....:D :D Anyway- not much else to report...it is quiet around here...hope everyone is doing well! |
Hey girls, I had a post all typed up hit submit and guess what........it didnt post and I got booted ughhhhhhhhhhhh.
I don't have much to report. I am excited to see everyone here. I have been wonderin about Tina though. Anyone heard from her? I am gonna be pretty busy over the weekend again and if I don't make a post I will definitely be back on monday. I will try to check back soon |
Hi Girlies!! I am at my parent's house so am probably going to make this quick. The funeral for my grandfather was yesterday and we are going to the cemetery today to bury his ashes. It is stressful to say the least but i am glad i came. So far i have been able to avoid the bad food choices but would really like some ice cream right now. THE REAL STUFF!!! Anyway, i will be flying back home tomorrow and will be glad when i get there. I hate to fly and have been dealing with sick kids from a thousand miles away!! BOy do they know how to make mommy feel bad! Some really quick personals and then i gotta go. Linda and Robsia congrats on the losses, YEAH!, michelle hang in there girl we have all struggled at one time or another and it is great that you are keepign up with the exercise, you have reason to be proud of that! Robbin, did you get picked for a case or are you done jury duty already? Cheryl have fun at the car show and yes do not get baked!!
Well girls gotta run it's my turn in the shower and since there are 7 of us staying here right now I gotta jump on the chance when i have it. Talk to yall soon! Erin PS if i missed anyone i am so sorry!!! |
 mind if I join in on your fun ?!?!?
I have been reading your posts for the past few weeks and you are all so supportive of one another. Plus you all have the same goal as I do... give these extra 100 lbs. a new home... good ridance !! I use to post frequently on another group, but it seems to be dwindling away, plus I have not been posting for the past few months and I have been busy with work and then most recently studying for a big exam that I have coming up next week. :dizzy: Weight loss has definately been on the back burner for the past few months, but after next week I will have more ME time and I can get serious again and send these extra lbs. to the curb :kickbutt: Look forward to getting to know you all :D |
Erin - I hope you have a safe trip home.
Hey girls I have been thinking and I believe we need a challange. What do you all think. I am not sure what type of challange but something to keep us on our toes and for us to report on everyday. Any ideas? Something we can all do and will help us stay motivated. Well it is just an idea of you all do not like it just let me know. |
Robbin- I agree...some little fun challenge would be cool. What one would be though, I have NO IDEA! Unfortunately, it's 4p on Friday, and I am spent... :faint: Plus, I am fighting the steroid induced headache (last pack thank GOD!) and the sweltering heat in my office (where we keep it hot in the summer and cold in the winter???) :hot:
Louie- :welcome: Looking forward to getting to know you! Maybe you can come up with some fun challenge?? Call it an initiation...LOL!! :) ;) |
Hi Everybody . . .
We have had an absolutely gorgeous day. . . Alberto passed through overnight and left sunshine, warm temperatures, and absolutely no humidity behind him . . . although, since the light fixture in my computer room started to leak around bedtime last night, I think he might have taken a couple of my shingles with him, too. Wonder what will happen the next time it rains. :( Well, I don't know about the rest of you, but I am very concerned about Tina. It just is not like her to get so busy that she wouldn't just drop in to say at least "HI" in the past 6 days. She has always been so avid a poster. Also concerned about Lois. It has been weeks since we heard from her. I know she had computer problems but I would have thought they would be fixed by now, but no sign of her this month. Hi Robsia . . . You have been busy. Your new site will be terrific. Hope the book is published soon. Now, is that your real name, or have you decided to make the Cavanagh Twins (Jill and Jacque) into triplets? Congratulations on getting rid of the extra holiday weight and then some. Not surprising, if course, since we all know how dedicated you are. Hi Cheryl . . . So sorry about the stress this week. Hope things calm down soon. Congratulations for avoiding junk food, however you do it. My problem is that I can overdo it on the good food, too. Have a great car rally, but do try to stay cool. Hi Ryanmi. . . Great news about your throat girl, even if you did have an asthma attack on the way by. At least you picked a good place for it. Whooppee . . . you'll be finished with the nasty steroids in no time. Hi Robbin . . . How did things go with the Jury Duty? Are you back to normal again, or do you just have the weekend off? I don't know about everybody else, but I do terribly whenever I try to set myself a challenge. Guess my mind figures it has enough challenges just trying to keep heading in the right direction. I am good at cheering from the sidelines, though. Hi Louie . . . Welcome aboard. Yep, everybody in here is definitely very caring and supportive and we'd love to have you along on the journey with us. Got a kick out of your comment about the activity on one of your former 'favourites', because it's been pretty quiet in here for a few weeks, too. Maybe it's the time of year. Hope we'll be seeing less of you, more often, kiddo. ;) Anyway, I'd better get about my business. Been pretty busy with the 'work-project' today and will have to spend a few more hours on it over the weekend . . . but after that, the majority of next week should be quiet. Have a great day moving and shaking, gang. See you soon . . . :carrot: |
Well, I have never heard of the Cavanagh Twins - but, yes, that is my real name :)
|
Can I join in?
I stumbled upon this just kind of searching around.
I'm 34 years old (will be 35 next month) and need to lose 120 lbs. I'd love to have it happen quickly but I know it didn't get on my quickly so I might as well take my time losing it. My goal date is June 1, 2008...2 years...but I'm hoping it won't be that long! haha Since I'm just starting out I'm sure I'll have tons of questions and you guys seem really sweet and supportive of one another. Just thought I'd like to be a part of the fun! Tricia |
Robsia . . . No reason why you should know them. The name just caught my attention. Sorry, if I'm confusing. Sometimes, I just tend to think out loud. :dizzy:
Tricia . . . Welcome to the group, chickie. Think you will love it in here. You are definitely starting with the right attitude. Give yourself 2 years and anything shorter will be a pleasant surprise. The bottom line is that we all have to take the time to learn a new way of life. A 'diet' might work for those who need to get rid of 10 or so pounds, but it takes 'lifestyle' change to get rid of 10 times that amount. Go, girl, go. Here's hoping we'll be seeing less of you, more often. ;) Here's some :dust: to help us make it through the night, gang. See you tomorrow |
:welcome3: LOUIE & TRICIA -- This is a wonderful group of girlies here!;)
I'm a little concerned with Tina, because it's very unlike her to go more than one day without posting atleast something!:?: :( ROBBIN -- What kind of challenge were you wanting to do? I have never joined in challenges before, because they always make me feel pressured and a little bit in a hurry, if that makes any sense.:?: :dizzy: I'm going to head for bed, because it has been a very long past two days. Hope everyone has a wonderful evening!:grouphug: |
LINDA -- How is your migraines? So far, I haven't had any sign of a headache for a few days now.;)
CHERYL -- I am feeling much better doing my WATP again, but I wasn't able to do them the past two days, because my joints in my thighs were SO sore, but they are feeling better tonight and I will be back at them again tomorrow morning. ERIN -- I'm sorry you have had to be away when your kids are sick. That would be very hard on a mommy! I'm so sorry for your loss, and pray that you have a very safe trip back home tomorrow. TINA & LOIS -- PLEASE COME BACK...WE MISS YOU BOTH VERY MUCH!!!  |
hi y'all
well i see no-one missed me!!! been a bit awol, been having a heatwave over here..its just way too hot to work outand theres been too much icecream eating and barbques on the beach to lose any weight oops:o |
Good Morning and thank you for the warm welcoming
A few things about me.. I am 36, married, no kids, unless the furry kind count, in which case I have one dog. I live on the West Coast of Canada, work for the government and I am currently studying to become an accountant (I actually take my big national exam next week). About 6 years ago I lost a significant amount of weight, but then I reverted back to my "old ways" and here I am ready to take these lbs off for good. Like Tricia I am giving myself 2 years to do this right. I am hoping that it will happen quicker, but not going to set myself up to fail. Michelle ~ glad to hear that your migraines have been leaving you alone. Enjoy doing your WATP, it really sounds like you love them. Tricia ~ :goodluck: sounds like you and I will be travelling the same road together for the next few years :D Meowee ~ hope the weather is still good out your way, we are having a light rain this morning and overcast skies.. which is just fine with me since I am stuck inside studying. Ryanmi ~ an initiation challenge.. hmmmm... gotta put my thinking cap on for that one :?: Robbin ~ I think a challenge would be great. There seems to be lots of challenges going on on other boards, maybe we could "borrow" one of their ideas. Erin ~ sorry to hear about the passing of your grandfather, but glad that you could be with your family  Well I am sure that I probably missed someone, but I will quickly get to know everyone. Hope you all have a fantastic day :hat: |
LIZA... Sorry it is so hot there; I also hate the heat! ;)
RYANMI... Love your pic! You're very pretty!;) LOUIE... I was trying to set a goal for myself to lose weight and it was 'stressing' me out, so like yourself, I'm doing it 'One Day At A Time' and not holding any time limit over my head.:dizzy: ;) |
Hi everyone. Thanks for such a warm welcome.
Louie - Glad I'm not the only one just getting started on this! How did you get so quick at learning names?! You've already got everyone down. I'm going to have to start studying! haha Everyone else - I'll learn...just give me a bit longer... Question about Splenda...I am working really hard to give up processed foods and sweets in particular. I completely gave up all carbonated beverages about 1.5 months ago and am totally over any cravings for them. However, I find that I'm using Splenda occasionally in order to have something sweet. I always put it on my cereal in the mornings (if that's what I'm having for breakfast) and the sugar free peanut butter I bought is sweetened with it. Is this a good alternative to sugar or should I also be eliminating it? Have a great Saturday!!! Tricia |
Good Morning all...
It is an oppressive 90+ degrees in Chicago-but a cool and comfy 68 degrees inside my house...Thank God for AC!!! I am actually being very lazy today and just catching up on some much needed rest...errands and chores can wait until early tomorrow morning! Besides, all of the new sales start on Sundays anyway...:) Michelle-thank you so much for the compliment on my pic, and your very kind words. Guess I had never thought of posting a pic for an avatar until you commented on yours shrinking...sometimes I'm slow on the technical uptake...;) Tricia...:welcome3: You and Louie aren't the only ones just getting started. I haven't been here that long myself, and gained back the weight I lost b/c I had to be on long-term steroids for a voice issue. Four days until I am off of those bad boys for good!!! WOO HOO!!!!! :woo: Anyway...in answer to your question about splenda...personally, I subscribe to the simple but effective method of counting calories and exercise, and take everything in moderation. I find that depriving myself of something I want/love never works-especially when I consider that I am making changes that I plan to stick with! So...I think Splenda and/or Nutrasweet are fine...****, I've even used sugar itself (16 cals per tsp) on occasion.:sssh: I think the important thing is to make positive changes you can live with long term...As far as sweets go, I was never a huge fan, but I do enjoy the sugar-free Jello Pudding cups (60 cals) for a sweet treat, sugar free popcicles and fudge pops (15/40 cal ea)! Tina (wherever she is...:?: ) got me on the low fat ice cream as well...I enjoy the Edys Double Churned Cookies and Cream (160 cal serving)!!! maybe some of the others can share their sweet fix ideas as well...I know everyone has their own! Ok, I'm going to eat some cereal (with honey!) and maybe go back to bed for awhile! I'll check in later... |
It's Saturday and it's sunny. Wow, the temperature is just about to my personal maximum but at least there's no humidity and there is a very pleasant breeze so I really don't mind a bit. :)
Hi Michelle  . . . I've been pretty headache free for a few days too and it is wonderful. :D Another new avatar picture and it's lovely, girl. Hi Liza  . . . Of course we missed you, but you have to admit you've been doing a lot of popping off to ???? places of late so we don't really know how to predict your pattern anymore. Sorry to hear it's so hot. I can understand how you've been feeling, I hate it too. Hope we see you more regularly. Hi Louie  . . . Of course the furry ones count. My 3 cats remind me of just how much they count at least 10 times a day. You and Tricia may be the newest of the group, but at my magnificent rate of losing, I'll be here with you for the duration, never fear. Hi Tricia  . . . Never fear, you'll figure us all out in due time. As the resident diabetic, I'm a devotee of Splenda. For me, it's one of the greatest inventions ever, since you can actually bake and cook with it. I say, go for it so long as your body can tolerate it. Now, the peanut butter is another one of the things I can't keep in the house. Regular, or low fat, or sugar free . . . doesn't matter to me, I can still eat it by the jarful . . . and of course, I need lots of toast to put under it . . . you can see where this leads, eh? So . . . no peanut butter for me, I'm afraid . . . at least not for a long, long time.    My very favourite little 'sweet treat' is lemon FF/SF jello, made the usual way but then mix in a cup of FF/SF yogurt after the jello has cooled, but not thickened yet, and then put it back in the fridge to set. Top with a blob of cool whip . . . reminds me of lemon meringue pie . . . yum . . . for about 50 calories per serving. Hi Ryanmi  I agree with Michelle . . . that's a great picture. so sorry you've got such a hot spell, but it's definitely a good day to relax inside with the A/C and dream of all the good times to come when this last round of steroids are finished. Yep . . . those fudgcicles and popsicles are great . . . I like the dreamcicles too at only 27 calories. YAY for artificial sweeteners . . . sure there's some controversy . . . but sometimes your mental health just has to rule. Have a great evening, girls. Keep on moving and shaking and heading in the great downward direction. See you soon. :carrot: |
