Wow, Cheryl, another 2 lbs. lost. Great!

Boy it's really quiet in here. Everybody is hiding somewhere, I guess. I finally took some pictures and tomorrow I'll tackle getting them on the computer and then the internet.

Have a great day, ladies. See you soon. :carrot:

Cheryl120 05-22-2006 10:50 AM

Linda...Finally got all of the kids parts cut out yesterday. I was getting so sick at looking at them, and my hand was getting sore cutting them out. Today I can finally play with them and arrange their clothes on each one.:D Glad you got some pictures taken with that new camera.

Brandy...Hope you had a great weekend.

I'll try to check back later.

Hi gals-

I'm giving this a try-This is not what I had the girls scouts make, just from my stuff I already had pics of, and fooling around without help to see if I can get it to post.

ArtsyGirl 05-22-2006 11:42 AM

OK, that was confusing-Not sure I'll be able to do it again. That is a beaded kaleidascope that I made shortly after returning from Hawaii about 5 years ago. This technique is not my brainchild. I used an article from one of the beading mags for the base, and then embellished. (Can't remember who the actual base technique came from to give them proper credit.) If I get the nerve to go thru that crop process, I'll try again with one of my designs.

Cheryl & Beth-Congrats on the loss!!!

I had a great weekend, but didn't behave as much as I planned. Thats ok, on to a brand new day today.

akrosey49 05-22-2006 01:57 PM

Morning everyone..Brandy that is an awsome piece of beading..u should be proud of your technique..its very well done..congrats to all the loosers.. wtg :carrot: ..its sunny but still cold here.. the leaves are just starting to bud on the trees..im attempting to sew again today.. maybe i can get that shirt to fit after i tear out some seams:?: im having trouble with my old pattern as my body size has changed.. the shirts to big and thats good thing right.. have agreat day everyone((((((hugs))))) rosey

meowee 05-22-2006 03:34 PM

Morning gals . . . Another rainy, cool day to finish off the Victoria Day weekend. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. :^:

Brandy . . . it's beautiful, whatever it is. :D Looks very intricate.

Cheryl . . . Now that's a lot of cutting, now you can have some fun sewing them on. :D

Rosey . . . Sorry your weather is cold. Do you do beadwork, too?

Here goes my first ever attempt to put a picture on the post. :o Well, that almost worked . . . I clicked on the little 'attachment paperclip', succeeded in finding the file I wanted to attach, waited a long, long time, and then it told me the size of my jpg file exceeded the limits allowable. So . . . back to the drawing board. :?:

Back later, I hope.

meowee 05-22-2006 04:15 PM

Just me again . . . another try at posting a picture . . . well this time I only exceeded the 50KB by 7 KB. . . maybe we'll get lucky next time.

Let's see if we made it this time . . . well . . . somehow the KB increased to 58 and change.

Let's try again . . . Hey . . . we actually got something . . . no I did not make this . . . I had to reset the camera to VGA images and the only thing handy to take a picture of was my middle cat . . . Goldi . . . looks pretty bored with it all . . . and I reduced the image quality by so much she is also kind of fuzzy . . . but whoopee . . . I posted a picture. :carrot:

Now I guess I have to retake all the others to get them to the allowable 50 KB or below.

Cheryl120 05-22-2006 05:14 PM

Brandy...Beautiful piece. I'm going to try and do some beading on the Summer Salsa wallhanging. That should really make it POP.

Rosey...Yes, that a very good thing when your pattern is too big for you. I hate to rip out, but look on the good side, small you for your effort.:D

Linda...I had the same problem with picture size. Good for you figuring it out on your own. I had to have hubby help me. Goldi is very cute and looks like she want some worship time. LOL

I had a great lunch with my gal pals and I did good. Had a bowl of Chicken tortilla soup and half of a Santa Fe Chicken salad without the sour cream and gaucamole. Be back later if I can.

Cheryl

meowee 05-23-2006 09:23 AM

Morning girls . . . another "iffy" day here in Nova Scotia. the weather can't seem to make up its mind.

Cheryl . . . 'Summer Salsa' would look great with some beading. Funny that you mentioned that . . . I just finished doing a crocheted purse and as I was putting the pieces together, I was thinking about making another one with beads incorporated right into the crochet,

See how contagious your beading passion is becoming, Brandy?

Have a really crafty kind of day, chickies. :s: Keep moving and shaking and doing the right stuff. :carrot: See you soon.

Cheryl120 05-23-2006 03:29 PM

Linda...Another beautiful day here. We are going to be in the 80's and it is already humid out. Probably have severe thunderstorms tonight. Oh joy!! Got the first row of kids on my quilt this morning. Had it all layed and it looked good so I started pressing them down. Got to the other end, and the little hand is right on the seam. I was off 1/2 at the start. Nothing I can do about it now, but my perfectionism really starts to creep in. I hope I don't mess up the other three sides. Can't believe I have my very first case of heartburn. Really hope it goes away soon.

Brandy...Hope you are having a great day!

Cheryl

ArtsyGirl 05-23-2006 07:37 PM

Hi gals-

I had a busy day so didn't get to post this morning. Had to go to the dr.s this morning, then class, and then a party, and then the bead store, and finally I am home. My 3rd day of running went well and my ankle seems to be holding up well. (a little swelling but no pain.) I'm getting to think that maybe I can get up to a 5K. Today was "short run" just 11 minutes. I'll go again on Friday for my long run of 17 minutes. My program has me increasing each run by 1 or 2 minutes each week.

Thanks for all the compliments on the kaleidascope. It is one of my favorite things because I incorporated all the charms I bought in Hawaii, and did it in colors that reminded me of the ocean.

Cheryl-glad you're getting some nice days. I think that is due here on Sunday. We have a forecasted high of 88 that day!!! Today was nice and sunny and low 70's just about perfect. I think beads will really make that wallhanging special. Sorry about your quilt problems. I hate it when a mismeasure occurs and you dont catch it until its to late.

Linda-I haven't tried bead crochet. I'm terrible at crocheting. My grandma has taught me many times, and it just doesnt click. I'm very tempted to try bead knitting since I have at least finished some knitting projects.

Rosey-Hope you figure out the pattern dillema. Congrats on getting a smaller size!!!

Have a wonderful evening.

ArtsyGirl 05-24-2006 07:42 AM

:welcome3: Melissa

I think you'll like it here. What are you working on right now? I got into some metal sheets and a crimper and played around making some earrings last night. They turned out pretty cool.

I've got a busy one today and it looks to be beautiful outside!!!!! I can't wait to play softball tonight in nice weather. I got my walk in already, and have an spin class later. I also want to meet a friend at the batting cages for a little hitting practice.

I need to play with beads too cuz I have to get new samples ready within the next 2 weeks. Oh, if I must. Its so fun to have a job doing what I enjoy!

Well, hope everyone is having a wonderful morning.

meowee 05-24-2006 10:06 AM

Greetings from Atlantic Canada . . . it is cold this morning (8C/46F) and overcast with no promise of any sunshine later. :(

Personally, I'm feeling fairly  . Got to move my ticker a whole two pounds down-east-ward this morning. :D The silly old scale- only decides to move often enough to keep me from going completely insane. I know it's the insulin and other meds that I take that keeps things slow and I try not to get discouraged. :^: Just remember it was the tortoise that won the race, Linda. ;)

:welcome2: to our group, Melissa. Glad to have you with us. Wow, what a coincidence . . . I just started another purse this morning. :dizzy: And I'm one of those that works on half a dozen things at once, too.

Yes you are very lucky, Brandy. Decided not to add beads to the new purse because I was afraid they'd get caught on stuff and rip off. When I finish this purse, I'm going to make a beaded, safety-pin bracelet, I think. Told you, your beading enthusiasm was contagious.

Wow, Cheryl, don't you just hate it when things go a little haywire. Don't worry, I'm sure you'll get the kids back into balance as you work your way around. Nobody will ever notice it but you. :o

Anyway, I hope to find time to set up those pictures again in the next couple of days. In the meantime, have a great day, ladies. Keep moving and shaking and heading in the great downward direction. See you soon. :carrot:

meowee 05-24-2006 05:10 PM

Hi again, Mel . . .

Sorry I've never done any pilates . . . I'm more into WATP and a little YOGA and just starting something called "bodyflex".

Really enjoyed viewing your projects. Boy, I thought I'd made a lot of ponchos, shawls, shrugs this past year or so . . . 3 knitted, 9 crocheted, 1 fabric, 2 quilted . . . and a couple of crocheted afghans . . . but you definitely have me beat and some of yours are much more intricate than mine. Great work. I'm particularly taken with Shawl0004. BTW who are the various models?

See you soon.

Linda

Cheryl120 05-24-2006 10:30 PM

:welcome3: Melissa, always great to have another chick to the group.

Brandy...Glad you are having nice weather, we got your rain.:rain: How did your baseball game turn out?

Linda...Congrats and moving the scale downward.:goodscale No quilt is ever perfect, but it still bugs me about the mistake. I showed it to my friend today and she said it looked fine.

Had my weigh-in at WW today and their scale finally moved 3.4 lbs. Still doesn't agree with mine. Mine said I was down 1.4 pounds this morning, so I'm going to move my ticker a pound.:D Have a good evening and I'll see you tomorrow.

Cheryl

meowee 05-25-2006 09:29 AM

Good Morning all you crafty ladies . . . Nova Scotia has had a little sun this morning, but radio is calling for rain later on and for the weekend. We'll see what actually develops. :)

Not too much going on around here today. Crocheting my little heart out and then must get back to taking pictures to replace the ones I can't get posted.

Congratulations, Cheryl. And isn't it nice to have WW finally catching up with you . . . but I do think you are right to stick with what your own scale says anyway. Good luck with your fabric dollies. :)

See you soon, gang. Keep moving and shaking and heading down that long and winding road to health and fitness. :carrot:

meowee 05-25-2006 11:25 AM

Morning Ladies . . .

Cheryl . . . congratulations  Keep up the great stuff and don't worry about the WW scale, pretty soon you won't be going there anyway.

Thanks for the link, Melissa . . . I printed it (all 21 pages) so you can tell just how much I liked it. I do like your white one better than any of her finished ones. But her instructions are certainly clear. Wow. Thanks also for the input on bodyflex. I haven't actually done much with it because I'm still working on the weird breathing. Seems strange to me to do any exercises while holding your breath. :?: Yoga is always telling you to remember to breathe. :?: I was a very heavy smoker about 20 years ago and I remember thinking back to 'those days' the first time I tried to 'breathe along with Greer' ;)

Where is everybody else hiding out? Haven't seen some of our pals in quite a while and now Brandy has gone missing, too. Is everybody having too much 'fun in the sun' to be crafting, or what?

Anyway . . . those of you who are around . . . have a great day moving and shaking in the downward direction. See you soon.

Cheryl120 05-25-2006 02:15 PM

Morning Gals...Cool, dreary and damp here...Wish the sun would come out and warm things up a bit. Busy sewing my dollies down this morning on my new sewing machine. Love my machine so much!!! Soon as I get a few post done and finish my lunch, I'm back up to sew. Would love to make my deadline of June 1st.:D

Donna, Melissa, Linda and Brandy, hope you gals have a great day. Be back later.

Cheryl

ArtsyGirl 05-25-2006 02:16 PM

Hello ladies-I'm still here.

Been busy with my first week off! Our softball game was fabulous. We played well and mercied the other team. Good for us, not so good for them. I prefer to play closer games, but at least we got to exercise good sportsmanship toward the others. I've been playing with metal this week and have made some cute earrings. I've got ideas floating around finally after a dry spell so I have been trying to get them out and worked up.

Beautiful crocheting Mel. Some of the shawls are fantastic!!

Cheryl-Congrats on the loss!!! You're doing so well.

Linda-Can't wait for you photo post. I love eye candy!

Well, I'm off to shampoo a carpet. Have a great day!

meowee 05-25-2006 04:35 PM

Okay . . . I've been doing the picture thing again . . . or at least trying to . . . they are not what I would call "gallery calibre". :o Hopefully I will get better at this.

First we have the ponchos for my granddaughters. They are both the same (except for size) and I turned the little one inside out so you could see the reverse.

Next is the funny jacket/poncho thing I made for myself. Those little batwing sleeve nubs hate seat belts and purse straps. Other than that, very comfy.

Then we have the sleeveless jacket and tote-bag I made for my SIL. Luckily she knows nothing about it, because I think it will be too big. So I'm saving it. Hopefully, it will fit me by the Autumn.

Last picture is a couple of crocheted purses I just finished. The carrotty orange one is for me and the cornmeal yellow for the smallest GD. Still have to make a bit larger one for the other GD.

Anyway, that's it for my junk for the time being . . . See you all soon gang. :carrot:

ArtsyGirl 05-26-2006 07:47 AM

Linda-those are beautiful!!!! I adore the purses. The little one is just darling. It is so neat to be able to share our projects.

Well, my long run was this morning. Today was 17 minutes of straight running. I made it, and I feel terrific now, but I really wasn't sure I'd get there. About half way thru the run I kept thinking I was to pooped to finish. I've promised to go to a gym workout of upper body strength and abs. SO, in a few short hours ALL my body will hurt instead of just my legs!:o

What are the big plans for the weekend? I'm going to a Ren. festival on Saturday (its one we've never been to-hope its nice) and then on Sun. we're having a picnic at the State Park, and taking the kayaks out. Monday we have a tentative picnic scheduled, but not positive on that yet. Hope you all have good weather, and get to enjoy!

Have a great one.

meowee 05-26-2006 08:24 AM

Good Morning Brandy  Thank you very much. Congratulations on the run and good luck on the upper body workout . . . balance is sooooo important. :D Hope you have a great weekend and that the weather is wonderful.

See you soon. :carrot:

meowee 05-26-2006 12:36 PM

Thanks Mel  . . . believe me I go in fits and starts . . . sometimes I feel like knitting; sometimes, quilting; sometimes, cross-stitch, sometimes, crochet; sometimes . . . well you get the picture, I'm sure.

Cheryl120 05-26-2006 08:30 PM

Brandy...Way to go on your run...I'm happy just being able to go out and walk for at least 30 minutes.:D Sounds like you have a great weekend planed. Hubby has to work for the next 7 days, so I have plenty to keep me occupided.

Meslissa...Congrats on the 1 pound, that is great!

Linda...So nice to have a face to put with a name:D ..Guess It's about time I post a picture of me. Will do that after I get my hair cut, perm and colored again. I promise!!! Love all of your projects. Love the ponchos and quilted jacket.

I was up early and sewing my kids down on the quilt. Have to go to town tomorrow and buy threads to match some of the clothes and skin tones. I'm also going to go to the movies and see "X-Men 3". We are suppose to be in the mid 90's for the next three days. Have a good evening and I'll check back with you all tomorrow.

C heryl

Afternoon Ladies...Here's a picture of the quilt in progress. I'll be back later to post personals.

meowee 05-27-2006 01:56 PM

Cheryl . . . beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. I certainly don't see the problems you've been talking about.

Later, gator. :carrot:

Cheryl120 05-27-2006 07:14 PM

Thanks Linda, I think it's beautiful also. Went and bought $30.00 worth of thread today. That should get the job done on this quilt. Have problems with my new sewing machine. The automatic presser foot won't come up, and doing it manually, it wont stay up. Looks like a trip to the big city on Friday to get it fixed. At least I'm still able to sew and I have a backup machine.:D

Later gators,

Cheryl

meowee 05-29-2006 06:35 PM

Happy Memorial Day wherever you are. Hope the weather has been good to you. Atlantic Canada is having a mixed bag of weather again. It has made it into the low 70's (23C) but the sun is playing hide and seek behind the clouds. :dizzy:

Cheryl . . . So sorry to hear that your brand new machine is giving you problems. Hope it soon gets fixed again. Yes you are very lucky you kept the old one for back-up.

Mel . . . Good for you on the healthy eating on the weekend. Maybe you could try again with the afghan hook in a larger size, or try working on a smaller item. My hands and forearms sometimes bother me if my knitting or crocheting gets to tight or too heavy. BTW, I enjoyed that link and can hardly wait to see your project.

Have a great evening, ladies. Keep moving and shaking and heading in the downward direction. Here's some :dust: to help us make it though the night. See you soon. :carrot:

Cheryl120 05-29-2006 07:22 PM

Linda...Glad to hear you got at least a day of decent weather. We were extremely hot yesterday, but today we are in the 70's with a cool breeze. My kind of weather.

Melissa...Good for you choosing to eat heathy. I have had a great weekend as well. Eating mostly protein with a salad. Hope the scales reward me for being so good on Wednesday.:D

Linda...I fixed my machine. Yeah!!!...My new machine, all of the feet are screwed on and the screw got loose and the pressure foot dropped. My old machine, the feet all snapped on. Anyway, I hope I have it on tight enough now, but not too tight that I can't get it off when I need too. Spent most of the day sewing the kids on. Got the first row almost done, but I won't make my June 1st deadline. Oh well, it will get done when I get it done. Have a good night and I'll check in with you all tomorrow.

Cheryl

ArtsyGirl 05-30-2006 08:57 AM

Morning ladies-

It sounds like you all had a very productive weekend. I just played. Lots of fun kayaking, and picnicing. The ren. festival was fun too! I didn't do anything food wise that is making me feel guilty. Snacked, but within reason so all is good. I'm low on exercise minutes for the past 2 days because of the heat and humidity. BUT, I moved the window AC in from the garage, and hooked it up all by myself this morning. (Put those new muscles to use!!!) I FINALLY am comfortable in the house after 3 days of irrepressable heat. I asked hubby to put ac in, but he didn't seem to find the need for it as he was off to an ac office:mad: -Sometimes its good to have to do things for yourself. I didn't think I'd be able to move the darn thing, and I DID IT!!!

Well, off to class so have a great day!

Cheryl-Your quilt is fab!!!!

meowee 05-30-2006 11:09 AM

Good Morning, Crafty Ladies . . .

Cheryl . . . Congratulations, girl, sounds like you saved yourself a trip to the City.

Brandy . . . Congratulations to you too. Feels good to do-it-yourself sometimes.

Nothing too exciting for me. Sun is shining but temperature has dropped back to the teens again (mid 60's). Not that I mind, of course. :D Finished another crocheted bag (well almost, think I'm going to do a flower for the front of it) and almost finished another quilted one. Pictures will follow when they are both completely, completed. ;)

See you soon, chickies. Keep doing the good stuff. :carrot:

Cheryl120 05-30-2006 10:25 PM

Hi Ladies...Just a quick check-in before I call it a night. Have to get up early again tomorrow and I'm pretty tired right now. Never got my sewing room cleaned, instead I sewed. I should of cleaned the room through, since it has not been a good sewing day. I ripped my quilt today. Got it caught in the feed dogs and tried to get it undone and in the process, I tore it!!! I have spent most of the afternoon trying to fix it. Got it done, but I'm going to have to embroider a flower or something to cover the slight tear in the dollie's face.
Brandy...Congrats on moving the AC and hooking it up. Know what you mean about the heat. It was nice here today, but suppose to be very warm again tomorrow.

Cheryl

meowee 05-31-2006 09:11 AM

Boy, Cheryl, that is really the pits . . . bet you wanted to pitch the machine off the nearest mountain top. I'm sure you'll find a way to disquise it that will make it look like it was planned that way all along. Good luck. :)

It's another gorgeous day in Atlantic Canada . . . sunny and cool . . . just the way I like it. But I know it won't last . . . the nasty old jet-stream will be bringing some of your hot stuff to us soon. :(

The tortoise is proud of me today . . . I managed to move another .6 of a pound off to ugly-pound-heaven. Not exactly what I call 'rapid weight-loss', but at least it is moving in the right direction.

Have a great day, gang. Keep doing the right stuff and the rewards will follow. see you soon. :carrot:

ArtsyGirl 05-31-2006 01:22 PM

Howdy gals-better alte than never!

Got a walk in this morning in the high humidity and then went thru a spin class where the gym seemed just as sticky! I'm supposed to play ball tonight, but we have storms in the forecast so we'll see what happens.

I'm proud to say I exceeded both my May goals in minutes and miles! I'm very happy with that. I need to sit down and figure out what to do for June later today.

CONGRATS TO ALL OF YOU!!! Its awesome that your all going down on the scale. I'm experiencing a gain on the scale and not sure how to deal with it. The problem is my clothes all fit the same, but the weight keeps going up. Not sure if its muscle or if I should be concerned. Got any ideas??

Cheryl- sorry about the trouble with the quilt. It sounds like you're handling it better than I would. I hope today is better for you.

Mel-You can have the heat/humidity back!! I HATE it. One of the advantages of living in Michigan is the limited amount of time it is like this. I cant wait for the storm to come through and break this pattern.

Chat later-have a great one!

meowee 05-31-2006 04:25 PM

No thanks, Mel . . . I really do not want your heat (about 33C, BTW) and I definitely do not want the humidity. YAY on that loss, girl . . . feels great doesn't it. :D

YAY for your May exercise goals, Brandy . . .I don't want your heat either. Afraid I have no useful suggestions for you . . . I only maintain by accident. :o Post the question on the Maintenance Forum, someone over there is sure to have an idea.

Have a great evening, all you crafty little things. See you soon. :carrot:

Cheryl120 05-31-2006 09:43 PM

Linda...Congrats on the .6lb loss. Always nice to see the scale move downward.

Melissa...Congrats on your loss as well. I can't remember the last time I was in a 14, but I can hardly wait till I am!

Brandy...Congrats on making your exercise goal for May. That's awesome:carrot: :carrot:

Weigh-in day and I'm up .5lbs, but that's OK. I'll be down next week. Got the quilt repaired and my stress level is just about back to normal. Going to start the Salsa wallhanging next week and take a break from the quilt.:dizzy:
Have a great night.

Cheryl

meowee 06-01-2006 05:35 PM

Hi chickies . . . wow am I ever behind today. Took the car in for a little checkup and four hours later I was still there. Ugh. Then I was ravenous when I got home, of course. My normal lunch didn't seem to be enough so I went and had a nap rather than overeat, so I'm even further behind. But at least I kept the eating under control and that's a little success. Tomorrow will be better.

Cheryl . . . I think starting on your wall hanging is a great idea. The quilt will feel like a fresh new project when you go back to it.

Mel . . . good for you. It's so hard to just eat salad when you smell all that pizza. The regular dressing was a great success when you consider the alternatives.

Have a good evening, everybody. See you tomorrow. Keep on doing the good stuff. :carrot:

meowee 06-02-2006 10:47 AM

Hey gang . . . where are you? It's another beautiful day in Nova Scotia. Cool and sunny  but a little humid :( . I know our hot times are coming and then I'll be able to whine along with everybody else. See you soon (I hope) :^: .

Cheryl120 06-02-2006 10:17 PM

Hi gals...It's another hot day here in North Dakota, thank goodness for central air. Went to Fargo to do some shopping and I couldn't wait to get back to my nice cool house. Stocked up on boneless, skinless chicken breast, mushrooms and fresh fruit for the week. Went to my favorite quilt shop and bought more bobbins for my machine. Got home this afternoon, and they called to say they gave me the wrong bobbins. So they are sending me the correct ones and I'll mail these back to them.
Bought a new quilt book that has a few projects I want to do for christmas. Well the fairy fat mother paid me a visit, I'm down 2 lbs.:carrot: :carrot: Hope to be down a couple of more pounds by Wednesday. Bought a new mower today, so you know what my exercise will be tomorrow.
Have a good one gals, and I'll see you tomorrow.

Cheryl:hug:

meowee 06-03-2006 04:55 PM

My internet connection has been very erratic today . . . and the weather is damp and rainy as well. Hopefully I'll get a chance to do this post before it drops again. Just finished up on another thread and then it went down again but only for a few minutes.

Congratulations on the Fairy Fat Mother visit, Cheryl. Have a great time planning projects from the new quilt book. Of course, that won't be as much fun as using the new lawn-mower, but do the best you can to enjoy the book :D .

So sorry you had such a bad experience at Walmart, Mel. I think you are well within your rights to expect better service. Just try not to let it get to you. You are suffering a lot more anxiety over it than the perpetrator ever could. My tummy had the exact same experience as yours when I had fish and chips for lunch a few weeks ago. I only ate half the order (a little NSV) and then I tasted them for the rest of the day. Our bodies get used to being treated better, obviously.

Just heard that one of my nephews is getting married early this Autumn, so I've been planning a new cross-stich announcement to do for them. It won't be the normal wedding-type thing. It's going to have a rainbow to signify a new beginning.

Anyway, crafty ones, have a great moving and shaking kind of evening and I'll hope to see you tomorrow. :carrot:
