Just a quick checkin. Had a busy weekend and lots of catching up to do. Had to change my tracker. Down 2 pounds. By just a glance it looks like everyone has lost this passed week. That's great. We all are on track. Be back later to catch up. Gotta go get some stir fry ready.
Looks like everyone is losing weight this week. I am down 2lbs. Of course, I was sick, so we'll see if that creeps back up as the moisture gets back into my body, lol.
Emjay, no worries about the insurance comments. I just work in IT, I don't really know much about insurance. Yes, we still have to worry about that stuff here in Canada. We have universal health care (which we pay for), but not everything is covered. If you want stuff like physiotherapy, chiropractor, dental, etc...you have to pay for it yourself...unless your employer offers a benefits package, which mine does. Of course..the benefits package is not free, there are deductions off every cheque to pay for it..then of course, the benefits themselves don't offer 100% coverage. If I go to the dentist, about 90% is covered if the service is basic (fillings, checkups, yada yada), but if it's major it's only covered 50%. The rest I have to pay for. So, hope I didn't break the illusion, health care in Canada is not free, lol...but very heavily subsidized (which helps a heck of a lot). I could go on an on about other problems (major long wait times for specialists, surgeries, special treatments, bed shortages in hospitals...)..but it would get boring, lol.
Emjay, hope you enjoyed the Superbowl. If it's not hockey, I know nothing about it, who won? lol. Congrats on the 3lbs. too!
Miki, congrats on getting the losses moving again. I see you are also at 3 lbs, that's a pretty darn good loss. I wish I knew where your tracker went..weird.
Rivergal, congrats on the 2lbs. Dang, we are all doing a good job! Hope you enjoyed the stirfry.
Anyway, I have chicken cooking away & it's almost done. I'll talk to you all later!
Hey guys!! Sorry I haven't been on much...I've really really gone through a depression slump. I went 2 weeks eating and not exercising. I know I know...bad me. But who, more than you all, will really know what is going through my mind? It's a constant fight....every day. But guess what, I still lost 1 pound!! Anyway...I'm back on track - I hope!! Now I gotta go fix my ticker.
Congrats to everyone on their losses. I was pretty happy w/ mine. But this week might be a different story. I seem to be a little out of control and excercise has been hit or miss w/ the new job and all. But listening to all of you is definately motivating.
Miki, I'm so glad you are back on track. You are the one person that initially motivated me to get moving so I'm glad you are still around. Hey, about the tickers, only the first few posts on a page show the tickers. Something about that people w/ dial-up it was taking them to long to log on w/ the tickers being attached to every post. Did that make sense?
WW, That is how I thought health care in Canada was, except I did not think that employers offered it. I have heard about the long waits and shortages (which is never good). I have worked in the medical field for a long time so I actually do find it interesting although other probably do find it extremely boring. Thanks for the info.
RG, Three words for you, "Keep It Up". You are doing great.
Shawna, Welcome back. Sorry to hear about the depression, all the more reason to check in frequently. I know it always lifts my spirits. You have lost a lot of weight thus far you should be proud.
Welcome back Shawna!! Losing that lb should help your spirits huh? Girl, dont ever stay away just because you feel you've slacked off...thats the time you need us most! ( and we need you too) It takes all of you to keep me in line.lol
Rivergal, congrats on the 2 lbs. By the way, when I read you were having stir fry, it made me want some too so thats what I did. Thanks for guiding me to eat something healthy.
WW and Emjay, way to go! You two just keep going and going with the weightloss. It's motivating to me so keep it up! Thanks for the track info. I think we're on a new page so maybe it'll be back when I post this...we'll see. ( by the way, I'm a "dial upper" lol)
Well, I need to work on paying some bills so I better get off here. Just wanted to check in and see how ya'll were all doing this week.
Well, this week was not the most exciting. Just worked, not much else going on. The 2lbs. I lost last week have stayed off, so maybe I am getting somewhere again.
Welcome back Shawna. Sorry to hear about the slump. Sounds like you had a rough couple of weeks. Well, you still lost a lb. so good for you. Yeah, we all know what it's like...good to see you again.
Hello Emjay, sorry to hear your week is a bit out of control. We all have weeks like that, I'm sure next week will be better, especially after you have had more time to settle into the new job. I forgot to tell you how The Matador was...don't bother. It is an interesting story...but moved very slow and dragged quite a bit. Not worth the money shelled out in a theatre, lol.
Hi Miki! Yay, your tracker is back, lol. Hmmm...I have some bills to pay too. Yuck!
Today, I showed an amazing restraint with my credit card. I was at the Bay after work, decided to look at the furniture. There was a really nice couch being sold. It was a customer return, and it was in need of a shampoo (looks like the movers didn't wrap it in plastic before shipping it). All the staining was pretty light though, it would come out easily. To get rid of it, it was reduced from $1299 down to $399. OMG, that is a good sale. I really need a new couch too...but, I have a goal to get out of debt this year and it has been going good...so I resisted. Yay for me!
Anyway, glad to see everyone is still around. Will talk to you all again later in the weekend.
Well, today I have to go out & buy a new DVD player. We were using Jim's PlayStation to watch DVDs, but it skips them too much.
I'm kind of bummed because I don't want to lay out a lot of cash for one. Just a simple player would be good enough for me. dh unfortunately will want all the bells and whistles, lol. It will need a built in VCR, it will need to burn DVDs....arghhhhh....$$$$$$.
Men, they like to have all the toys. I guess I can't complain, he doesn't understand my shopping habits either (I can't make him understand why one needs to have so many different purses around, lol).
Well, it appears another lb. is gone. That's pretty darn cool. I hope this keeps up! I'm thinking of picking up a bathing suit and start swimming again. The thing is...I'm really self concious of how my legs look. It's odd, because I never used to care. I always figured there would be a lot of other people there in the same situation (and there are). Now I have some terrible fear I will see someone I know there and must keep myself covered! Maybe instead I should just get some new jogging pants so I can go back to my step classes. That might be safer, lol.
Well, going to pull myself together to go shopping. Talk to you all later, and hope everyone had a great weekend!
Well I weighed in yesterday and I was up 1 pound. I kind of expected it w/ losing 3 last week and eating at a chinese buffet two days in a row this weekend (only 1 trip to the buffet each time though). I have only managing to get in 1-mile watp when I work though. I have today and tomorrow off and plan on doing nothing less then 3-miles.
Congrats WW on another pound gone. Good for you on the couch, it would have been hard for me to pass it up too.
Hello everyone Well, went to the specialist Monday and since my shoulder has already improved over the last week or two, I get to try Physical Therapy. He started to give me a steroid shot but decided maybe just the PT would be enough. I have to go to 3 sessions then I'll know how to do the rest of the sessions myself at home. That's good. As they say tho, when it rains it pours. Phil (dh) bent over yesterday to get his shoes out of the closet before work and all of a sudden he YELLS. His back went out and I mean BAD. He could not stand up straight at all...has to walk all bent over and cannot walk at all without a cane to lean on. He went today and had to have a steroid shot, muscle relaxers, pain pills and they also gave him high blood pressure pills. He's never had a prob with his bp before. I think maybe it's from the pain he's been in. Anyway, he's starting to feel some better tonight.
As for weightloss, that didnt happen for me this week either. I'm going to TRY not to weigh for a couple of weeks. My weight this last week has fluctuated like crazy. In one week, the scale has shown 114, 109, 111. When I get excited over a loss then it goes up in a day like that, I get very discouraged. I think maybe I'll do better without letting the scale determine how I feel for awhile.
Well, need to go baby and pamper dh for awhile I guess. lol
Hey All, I know it's been about a week since I've been here. Looks like everyone is hanging in there. I'm still doing my 2 mile WATP every morning. Didn't have a loss this past week but my eating hasn't been what it should have been. But I didn't gain and I always am glad of that when the eating is off. Hope everyone had a great Valentine Day. No chocolates here but DH got me jelly beans and a stuffed puppy. He said he started to buy chocolates but knew I was being faithful to WATP and didn't want to do that to me. He's a sweetie. But you know it seems like every Valentine's Day I'm trying to lose weight. My plan next year is not to be doing that. Hopefully I'll be where I should be.
Exciting news: I am booked for a 7 day cruise in Sept. to Eastern Caribbean. I have never been on a cruise before or done anything that exciting. My most exciting trip was Disney World so I can't wait. I may have already told you but I'm so happy I can't stop talking about it. I'm gonna work hard to get the pounds gone by then. Cause that means new clothes and new swimsuit. I can't think of a better reward than a cruise. Me, my brother, my son and his girlfriend are going. DH is saving his vacation days for fishing. Cruising isn't his thing and even tho I'll miss him for 7 days I'll have a great time.
Well, sorry to have been gone so long, it's good to be back this week.
Everyone is doing great, keep up the good work.
Talk to ya all later,
Rivergal
Well, it finally happened. We finally got our winter! Brrrrrr. Tonight it is expected to go to -28 C (18.4 F) Yikes! I guess there will be no walking for me tomorrow, lol. I was just out for coffee and the wind is blowing!
Sorry to hear about the 1 lb. Emjay. No worries, you will have it gone next week I'm sure. Good luck on your watp goal this week.
Miki, glad to hear you will get away with some physio. Sorry to hear about dh back. My hubby put his back out last fall just by getting out of the car. He had to do physio for a couple of months, and it is still going out now and again. I hear you on the scale being discouraging. I don't know how it can jump 2-3 lbs. on a day by day basis. I weigh myself all week too (I know I shouldn't) and it's the same story. I only take the Saturday reading as fact though...keeps me sane.
Hello Rivergal! Wow, you must be really excited about booking your cruise. I've also never been on a cruise, it sounds like a lot of fun (much more fun than fishing I think, lol). I'll bet by September you will look great in a new bathing suit!
Well, not much else to update on. Just trying to get through this really cold week. Hope everyone is doing okay, and will talk to you all later.
Miki-Wow that sucks about hubby. Hope he is feeling better soon. Glad that you will probably be able to get by w/ therapy for your shoulder, just make sure you do everything they tell you to do.
RG-Congratulations on sticking to your excercise regimen. I have been trying hard to also, not easy w/ the new job. I have been on a cruise before, you will love it. I also left my hubby behind, he is not a cruiser either. Oh well.
WW-We finally have winter as well. But I leave for Florida in 10 days so I'm not too concerned w/ it. It should be spring when I return, or almost spring anyways.
Looks like it's finally getting a little wintery around here also. They are predicting some ice over the weekend but so far so good. Went to the grocery store after work and stocked up so if it does get bad, we're just going to pile up on the couch to watch movies all weekend. Have to admit, I wouldnt mind that happening. In fact, it sounds really good for a change.
Phil's back is a little better. He went back to work anyway. Probably shouldnt have so soon, but he just almost will not miss work for anything. He can walk but has to use a cane still.
My physical therapy starts Tuesday. I'm ready to get that going and get my shoulder in shape so I can get back to my Airwalker.
Glad to hear Phil is on the mend. Sounds like he could benefit from some PT also. I saw on the news this AM that TX got the ice storm, did you guys get it too? It is bitter cold here (8 degrees) and snowing a little. Again, I will be out of here in about 9 or 10 days. Well got to go so I can fit in some excercise before work today.
