Jawsmom - I got some jeans at Express the other day - most of theirs are on sale for $29.50 (usually $59.50 ). They have a new thing where they categorize their jeans by curvy or slim and they have a "short" which meant I could get some jeans without them puddling up on the floor or having them hemmed. Yippee
I had the day off.. and went looking in the thrift store! I got 5 pairs of jeans a red wool blazer and 4 tops for 11.00$ woo hoo.. I didnt want to spend a lot of money on sizes I am passing thru!! but that was a really good deal!
Hey girlies! Sorry for the absence yesterday. I had to go with the boys to an appointment and what should have taken an hour at best took 4 hours. I was pooped after that and didn't get much else done all day.
I've been doing pretty well on my eating but my exercise has been lacking since friday. I have let errands and house stuff come before some me time to move my butt and I need to make the exercise a priority instead. I know it makes me fee so much better. Anyhow... I will be doing an exercise tape this morning before doing errands with the boys. It's a 30 minute deal that I think Beren will get a kick out of too. We shall see...
Way to go Melissa!!! congrats on those pounds lost!!!!!
Sorry about the UTI and infection though -- every time I have a uti my DH wonders why I am so grumpy with him. It's so unfair . Hope you are feeling better though!!
Hi Every one, Haven't been around for awhile and missed everyone. Nothing great going on, just work and very, very busy. I have been so busy and tired I haven't even thought about my self or my diet and it shows! I've gained and I'm so mad! At myself! We all have times like that and it's just one more challenge to overcome. but I've been reading everyones entries and it's good to be back.
Jeans.....I'm 5'1" and jeans are always a problem. My favorites are the gap and Levi's!
And answering the questions:
1. Food, Fat free jello and FF whipped cream.
2. FAv. TV show, Too many! Lost, CSI, ER. I love to watch ER and Critique. I drive my husband crazy. I set there and go on and on "A dr. would never do that, and Please, I really would have time for that!"
3. What I do for myself. I read. Give me a good book and i'm lost to the world.
4. Color ink. Black. I can only use black ink at work, it's the only color that's legal.
Good to be back, I missed hearing about everyone! Freda
Afternoon gals! I finally found time to get back to you guys! Hope you enjoyed the webpage.
Answers to mini poll:
I like pretzels with ff cream cheese and a icy glass of Mr and Mrs T's spicy Bloody Mary mix sans the booze.
My favorite tv: Las Vegas, CSI Las Vegas, (definitely a pattern here) all the Law and Order shows (too bad they don't move to Las Vegas... ) I Love Lucy (I collect her and have almost all her tv series including Here's Lucy, I liked Biggest Loser last year and the Home Makeover show.
What do I do???? I read, read, read, knit, knit, knit, and do puzzle books. Plus I clean house EVERY day like an idiot. I mean, there are only two of us and our kitty and doggy. Unlike you ladies, I neither have a job nor children at home so I can get really bored on top of the fact I have no friends here in Memphis. Because I don't work we cut back to one car and with gas the way it is, I don't feel I can afford to spend a bazillion $$ volunteering. It is 50 miles one round trip to my dh's work then go to wherever I volunteer and then go back and pick him up besides having my dgs's soccer practices to go to twice a week and 2 games of his a week and of course, they are across town so I stay home. Bad for eating though!
Right now I am in the midst of almost being finished with a baby blanket for my niece who's baby boy is due in January, a Harry Potter scarf for my grandson for Christmas, which has come out pretty cool, scarves for my two kids and their spouses for Christmas plus a couple books and 3 more on their way from my book club. I occasionally get bored, but my darling hubby takes me out of town on little jaunts all the time (once a month or so to like Nashville or down to the casinos in Tunica) and I love staying home and cuddling up with him, Butterscotch and Fortune. We came home just last night from Thomas's soccer game and cuddled up on the couch and watched Sahara. I am also working on our trip for next year to Vegas.
I haven't been in a pair of jeans for years and years. Right now, I am revamping my whole program and trying to get jump started back on that along with my dh. I need to pull lbs off him before he goes back to his cardiologist and the dr has a coronary from him gaining weight eating all those buffets in Vegas!
Do any of you ladies have Bellsouth DSL for internet service and do you like it? We are changing from AOL and I hope we like it. Time Warner is our cable here and it is like $65 for the stupid cable modem internet and they can forget that. I don't even have cable right now because I am mad at them and have knuckled under to have it put back in. I hate cable companies being allowed to have monopolies so they can charge you up the wazoo for something that costs them pennies.
Blab, blab, blab, I better go. have a great afternoon girls!
Faye, my parents have the BellSouth DSL and have a lot of trouble with it. We have Adelphia cable internet and Dish Network for the tv, we love our Adelphia cable so far, but have only had it a month. Anything is better then dial up though!
What are you currently reading? I love to read, I'm just now making it around to the VC Andrews books my mom read when I was younger. Which reminds me, I gotta return this book and get the next one!
Faye, we have our internet service through Time Warner cable now but we used to use Bellsouth DSL and didn't have any trouble with it. I worked back then, though, so I wasn't surfing the web nearly as often. It could very well be that I would have noticed more trouble (like Melissa's parents) if I had been online as much as I am now.
As for Time Warner, well, I know how you feel. I hesitate to even post this but here goes...We've been getting free cable from them for about a year now. We cut our service back to the very basics that we had to have to keep our internet connection but they never acutally turned the channels off. I called them and the customer service rep told me that it could be a couple of weeks because they have to physically come to the location. So I waited. A month passed and we still had the channels so I called again and got told the same thing. Soon after that we got a bill for the full service so I called. She told me that it was because we'd cancelled after our cycle but that it would be adjusted the next month. I took the opportunity to tell her we STILL had the channels. Same story. FINALLY, the guy came out but he messed up and only turned off two of the stations. So, I called again and they've never done anything about it. At that point I decided that I wasn't going to keep trying to do their jobs for them and we've enjoyed free cable without guilt ever since. If they ever figure it out that is fine by me since we really don't watch a lot of TV anyway. But, in the meantime I'm not going nag them every month. I nag enough at home already!
Okay, I went to the gym this morning and got on their scale. DH suggested that he thought ours was off by a few pounds and I wanted to check. Just as I'm stepping off the tiniest little thing you ever did see hopped on - WITH HER TENNIS SHOES ON! Now, who VOLUNTARILY weighs with shoes on. Heck, I would have stripped down to nothing for the sake of an ounce or two if I could. Anyway, I had to sneak a peak at her weight. Honestly, I wasn't being nosey but I have no concept of what different weights look like. And I kind of wanted a visual of what range her size was. 115 - with the shoes. I think, "good for her" and head on out to the treadmill. Not long after she gets on the treadmill right next to me. I know how silly it is but I find exercising right next to someone like that rather intimidating. Well, I had just increased to a jog and she was jogging too. Which brings me to the point of this long drawn out story. I ran faster than her and longer than her. For a second there I thought she just might pass out. I've got to say that I am not usually very competative at all but, darn, that felt GOOD! And, best of all it was a great reminder that the outside of a package doesn't necessarily reflect what is on the inside. I'd still like to be 115 lbs with my shoes on though!

I'm soooo glad I'm not the only one that competes with the person on the next machine at the gym The other day I got on the eliptical and the person next to me had already been on for about 10 minutes. I just about killed myself trying to catch up to her "total calories burned." And there was ABSOLUTELY NO REASON to. Made me work harder and gave me a sense of accomplishment anyway though.
Good morning all. I guess most of us are competative to a point. I know I just want to be able to do as much as the next person and not look like a whimp, I think a little competition is a good thing if it keeps us going that extra few minutes. And being thin does not automatically mean fit. I know lots of thin people who are not fit at all. My SIL is very thin and her BP is high and so it her cholesterol. We are building muscle and endurance with the exercise. BIG incentive to keep it up. With eating right and exercising we're becomming healthier every day.
READING: I am a big fan of Janet Evanovitch. Her new book just cam out, Eleven on Top. She is so funny. I've gotten everyone at work hooked on her books and my family too, who are not especially fond of reading. I also like mysteries. A few favorite authors are Michael Connelly, J.A. JANCE, iRIS jOHANSEN, FAYE KELLERMAN. just to name a few. I read a lot. I get my books mostly at the library. I can't afford my addiction because I read several books a week. In addition to listening to books on tape in the car! I always have a couple going.
Hope every one is doing well and getting fact to focus on dieting and exercise!! Freda
I guess I'm pretty competative too, I do the whole "see if I can go farther/harder" thing at the gym. I signed up for 48 personal trainer sessions yesterday, I'm ready to see the real me laying dormant under all this fluff.
Hi ! You people are about the most enthusiastic group I have read in a while. Sooo nice!
I wish I was the same. I am old, over weight, out of shape and don't have the desire to change a thing. I believe that's called stressed out. My marriage of 35 years is failing. At least I guess that's what most people would say...when I daily find myself wanting to twist my loco husband's head off and bag it with the garbage ! We are building an addition to our home and having a
real time of it trying to find workers that want to pick up more than a pay check. Our son began the project and left with it fifty per cent complete...$40,000.00 after! He and his father are not speaking...and I am in the middle because I love both of them. My daughter is having family problems of her own..which makes me even sadder. And on top of it all I'm going through midlife crisis! It just doesn't get any worse...you think? Sure it does. My
husband is trying to buy more land...without a thought in his head that he can't possibly get any more credit right now and he continually brings home more "pets", chickens, ducks, cats, fish, ferrets, hampsters, gerbels, pigeons, goats, and yesterday a full grown not too friendly pit bulldog ! Hello insurance increase!
I'm just a little depressed...but I do still believe the old adage that..."In fifty years I won't know the difference!
Anybody got any helpful advice? Please write.
HI Ivy, WHOW, you make my head spin with all you're going through! I've been married for 40 years in August and there have been many times I've wanted to kill him and bury him in the back yard! But you do get through those times, Thank GOD! Just so much happening with you at once. And w've went through the times we've been distant with our son too. He married a girl we couldn't stand and pretty much thought she was perfect for about 11 months. They got divorced then but of course he couldn't come to us right away. Had a hard time dealing with it, but we all got through. And you know you will too! Just hang in there and take it day by day. Like you said "in fifty years it won't be remembered. You will actually be able to look back and laugh at some of this! Hard to believe right now, I know. Hang in there girl, and know that this too shall pass! Freda
