Hello ies!!! This is a fly-by notify. I got back last week, but plunged into work immediately and have some kind of flu-like thing. I think my next vacation has to be a "lying on a beach" kind of deal instead of a go-go-go one. No time for a real post just yet, but love to all!

I need to build some space into my life!

Kaylets, I think that the chart is a bare-bones outline because elsewhere in the book she mentions bananas as part of the plan and as Amarantha pointed out they make an appearance in her menu list on the website. That's my one complaint about the book-I wish there was more nutritional information.

Have been having weird pains in both breasts for the last month or so, kinda crampy feeling. I talked to an herbalist today with a lot of experience and she said that she experienced that when she went into perimenopause and that it's very common. The pains remind me of growing pains---remember those?
Don't worry girls---I just had a clean mammagram less than 2 months ago and will continue to pay attention.
Perimenopause, heck of a note for a young chick like me!

Dear Royals - my royal heart is breaking - dh is in hospital in very serious straights. He's been pulled through before and I'm praying will be again but the last two days have been very difficult.

So I've relaxed a bit reading your posts but have no time or energy to respond and huzzah! But ask that you keep us in mind. Having cereal, strawberries and skim milk as my "dinner", no exercise unless you count back and forths to the nurses desk (he's at the end of the hall).

Aria, huzzah 'n hurrah on thy countDOWN Day 13!! You're doin' great.

RESULTS OF DAY THREE O' MY 12-DAY COUNTDOWN TO SOLISTICE GOAL CHALLENGE: 1970 CALS; EXERCISE WAS 30 MINUTES O' THE PENANCE YARDWORK (DOESN'T COUNT TOWARDS MY CHALLENGE BUT THOUGHT I'D MENTION I DID IT ... REALLY SHAPES UP THE FOREARMS) and 40 MINUTE WALK!!!! (Day 143, I think, of the no sugar thing)!!!

I am attending a very important wedding June 25, so this solstice goal is very relevant to me because it would be fun to have a new dress (well, I hate dresses but will wear one so it might as well be fun)!!!

E, you are doing great with your BFL ... I just posted there re sweet potatoes but am not trying to hijack thy thread, it's just that sweet potatoes ARE on the BFL good list ... which actually IS somewhat similar to foods allowed on South Beach, Sugar Busters and the GI diet ... BUT may not be what the BFL for WOMEN books specifically calls for ... corn, btw, is a whole other matter as are white potatoes!

I haven't seen the book but the BFL website seems to say that the BFL for Women book basically follows BFL eating ... which is also confusing as Bill Phillips, who invented BFL (although he didn't invent healthy low glycemic eating), wrote Eating for Life after leaving the EAS company he founded and Eating for Life is a bit different than pure BFL, a branding that is still owned by EAS ... so no wonder us poor mortals are confused!

Not that you are confused, E, and I hope I don't offend thee with the above ramblin' ... hmmm.

Anyhow, K, I've lived in more places than I can count! Wish I were livin' in the south of France but that'll have to wait till I'm old which will be a LOOOOOONNNNNNG time, despite the thoughts of some folks I know on the subject.

Ramblin ... not a good sign.

Good morning, All!

Anagram, you and DH are always in my thoughts and prayers! When we were hiking in the Adirondacks, there were so many beautiful areas in the woods with huge patches of violets. Each time I passed one, I got such a strong feeling of peace, positive energy and renewal and I always thought of you. Hoping that violet feeling envelopes both you and your darling, and sending positive energy to you!

Eydie, perimenopause? Well, I guess it can go on a long time with symptoms coming and going. I experienced it for years without realizing what it was. Hot flash city! Now I'm post-M, but still flashing. I really think it's mostly stress, though, and am getting ready to launch into a full mind/body/spirit renewal plan. The mind/body challenge was working wonders -- just 10 mins. meditation and some form of mind/body exercise every day -- so how/why did I let myself get off track?

wsw, so sorry about your bout with those darn technical issues! Have you been able to keep up with the meditation and/or tai chi? Hope you're soon feeling well!

Kaylets, I've moved way too many times. Only 5 different towns, but I bet 15-20 different apartments or houses. And I don't think that's the end of it... Makes me think of another question: Is anyone living in their "dream house?"

Amarantha, the south of France sounds awfully good! The other night, a woman in my writing group was writing about living in Spain, and that sounded like a place to spend some time too. Plus I've always been drawn to Italy... I think I'd like to live 6 months in each one, though, and come back to PEI. It's home!

Wildfire, this is going back a bit, but I recall seeing at some point that you'd reached some kind of understanding with your body and were realizing what a fabulous, gorgeous woman you are, just as is (OK -- that's not the way you put it, but TRUE). Huzzah!

Punkin, what day is it, please? Passed a Kabota (sp?) dealership on my travels and had a lovely vision of you on said vehicle, royal draperies trailing majestically behind.

K-- off to the salt mines. Love, love, love to all, mentioned or un-. Let's take this day we've been given and do our level best with it!

Well, actually, now that ya mention it, Arabella, I'd love more than anything to live on Prince Edward Island ... although I've never been there! I grew up on the Anne books and hear tell the place is still that beautiful!

Aria, you're doin' great. I just posted in your journal ... hope I don't offend you by offering an exercise tip there ... just for fun! You are awesome!

Running late ... gotta go eat something.

s, this doesn't apply to anyone here, but does it bother anyone else when people seem to hate their bodies and their natural need for FOOD!!! We "dieters" seem to get mixed up sometimes and mistake the need (indeed the MANDATE) to EAT with a weakness. We confuse our desire to have a healthy body and mind with a kind of panic to be THIN and to achieve that means by any means, even if it means starvin' the bod into submission, followed ususally by bingeing our minds into oblivion and then doing the whole thing over again.

FOOD is not BAD. EATING is not a SIN!

We just need to eat healthy food in normal amounts and we'll all be fine.

Well, we ARE all fine in that regard on this thread, but I worry about some others.

Thanks for listening.

This rant was apropos of nothing said here or any living or just dreamin' their existence (well, as far as I know, all are actually living).

Ok, bye!

Amarantha, YES! It really bugs me when people get into that frame of mind! My DH is maybe 5-10 pounds over the optimum, but 6'4 and very muscular. And he totally obsesses about food intake and his body. Can never enjoy eating anything, always guilt-ridden, will moan about how he shouldn't be eating something as he shovels it in. No help for it, I don't think. But -- yup, drives me nuts! I just don't feel like that's the way...
