hi everyone.. I just realized I forgot to tell ya'll something really important to me.. well as you already know.. I'm on a mission to lose weight.. well I recruited my sister n law to do it with me (she lives like 8 houses away so its really great motivation and easy to get together) she wears a size 18-20 and I'm a 22-24 so we arent too far away from each other.. well heres the big news.. we got my husband and his brother to agree that if we both get to our goal of size 12 (we plan to get lower than that, buth thats our first mission) then we both get to have a day at the spa.. but the catcher is that we both have to do it.. if only one of us makes it then it doesnt count, so not only are we hard on ourselves.. we push each other.. I just thought it was an awesome idea.. and I thought I would share it with ya'll keep your fingers crossed for us..

momX3 05-02-2005 01:17 PM

Home sweet Home

Hello All!! Thank you to Deerod for pointing me in this direction. I shall park my 'weight loss wagon' and unload my introduction for all of you...

name: Looking2Lose
location: WI
age: 30
sex: female
marital status: LTR
highest weight: 308
current weight (last weigh in): 283 (I'm only 5' 2")
goal weight: 150
current clothing size: 24, 26, 28 (whichever is more comfortable)
goal clothing size: 16/18
kids: None yet, hopefully in the future.
pets: 4 kitties.
diet (currently on or planning to start): Currently working on The 'Entire half-pound bags of M-Ms :m: are not a meal' diet.

I work in a cubicle all day, and I believe there was something in the job description stating that you must binge of whatever is available for 8 straight hours... :moo: :comp:

I absolutely love coffee with tons and tons of sugars, but my rear-end has objected, and my favorite jeans are becoming my favorite drawer liners!!. So, it is now time for me to my myself on the front burner, and get some of the junk out of my trunk!! (with the help of hopefully some new friends. ;)

deerod 05-02-2005 03:25 PM

looking to loose.. omg.. you are too funny.. you are gonna fit right in.. I use to work in a cubicle.. I hated it.. but now I miss it.. what kinda of diet are you going to go on.. or what changes are you planning to make.??

kclay61 05-02-2005 03:37 PM

Hello everyone  Thought I would drop in and see what was going on.

I stepped on the scale this morning and found that I had lost 3.5lbs! WooHoo! :goodscales:

Needless to say I am happy :D

Now to find something to eat :)

looking2lose 05-02-2005 03:50 PM

I haven't really selected a 'diet' per se, but just modifying what I am eating. Mostly switching back to skim milk (which I used to drink), eating whole grain breakfast, like toast or oatmail and some fruit (which I have been skipping for eons), low-sugar or sugar-free items (like sugar-free candy drops with a glass of water when I think I'm 'starving', and trying to choose non-deep fried items. Small baby step changes. Like, the long lost art of water drinking!! I've started to exercise. I carpool to work in the morning, but then I walk home in the afternoons, It is almost an exact mile walk, which at first was overwhelming, because it does not seem that far in the car...but I keep a steady pace and do the best I can.

momX3 05-02-2005 04:14 PM

kclay - GONGRATS!!! on 3.5 lbs :goodscale. You go girl :cheer:. I'm so happy for you.

looking2lose - Welcome:high:. You crack me up . I am also trying to eat healthy and drink lots and lots of water.

Louie 05-02-2005 04:42 PM

Gday my fellow PICers !! This group is growing.. that is awesome !

I have the week off work and school (i work full time and go to school at night), so working on relaxing and taking some time for myself. I am also going to spend the week exploring WW online and getting ready to change my lifestyle. I know it will take alot so getting myself fully prepared and then jumping in with both feet on Sunday.

ASHAVISON ~ i was attending WW meetings before, but got so busy and so off track that I stopped going. I am glad that there are others here following WW as we can keep each other on track.

MINNIE ~ Welcome ! You have found a great group of people and we are all here to share and support one another. :)

DEEROD ~ great plan with the spa... you will love it ! I am treating myself to the spa on Friday (massage, facial and pedicure)... You will be treated like a queen and will love every minute of it :queen: What a great goal to work towards.

JENNIE ~ congratulations on your loss, sounds like you have had a hectic few days. I don't know how you moms can keep it together.. all the respect to you :cp:

LOOKING2LOSE ~ Welcome to the group... sounds like you will keep on laughing  Great medicine for us all !!

KCLAY ~ yahoo, you big loser (and i mean that in the best possible way) !!! We are all doing the happy dance for you. Keep up the good work !

Well ladies I am off to enjoy a nice warm cup of coffee :coffee: The weather here has been dark and dreary all day so will curl up on the couch with the puppy and see what's on TV.

Take care and TTYS

kclay61 05-02-2005 07:25 PM

Thanks everyone - I feel so proud of myself - I'm really sticking to my guns this time around - I guess the Dr. really put the scare into me ;)

petra65 05-02-2005 07:57 PM

Hi everyone. I have also been looking for a place to call home and this looks like it may be it. I don't have one of those cute weight loss meters at the bottom of my post but I need to lose about about 80 lbs. Here's my intro:

name: Mary
location: PA
gender: female
marital status: single
age: 39-really!
highest weight: 265
current weight: 235
goal weight: 150
kids: 0
pets: 2 dogs, Kobe and Buddy
diet: low carb- closest to Atkins although I didn't start out this way. I am having a hard time losing weight on this diet although I am having an easy time sticking to it. I have tried numerous other diets in the past and did weight watchers for a long time and was very successful (I lost 50 lbs) only to gain 30 of it back.

momX3 05-02-2005 08:51 PM

well ladies I made it through my first week. Stuck to healthy eating and worked out everyday but Sat. I was so tempted to weigh myself tonight at curves but I am so scared to be disappointed :( . If I wait until my first weigh and measure I won't know what's going on until the 20th . Oh well I will try to be good .

Petra - welcome

kclay - you are getting really close to having that grandbaby :bb: (well not you technically). You must be so excited :cb: .

kclay61 05-02-2005 09:39 PM

I just wish my g'baby would want to be here - he is hanging on for dear life - and he's making his mommy very miserable.

deerod 05-02-2005 11:05 PM

Hi and welcome.. make yourself at home..

I did really good on atkins the first time I tried it 60lbs lost.. but I'm not a big meat eater, and I love startches and fruits and vegetables.. I've never been able to get back on that wagon.. little things on that diet can stall your weight loss.. I wish you the best on your goal..

everyone on this thread are wonderful people.. feel free to vent and share anything you want..

looking2lose 05-03-2005 09:09 AM

Today is the day. I am actually going to start journaling what I put in my mouth today. Physically writing it down so I actually have to look at it. Instead of binging on it and spending the day in denial that it occurred. Filled up my 1st jug of water for the week, and am ready to roll.

Have a wonderful day everyone!! :hyper: :crossed:

http://www.3fatchicks.com/weight-tra...3/150/283/.png

deerod 05-03-2005 09:52 AM

I also keep a journal.. Its a little but fat notebook that I carry with me everywhere I go and right beside it I have the calorie kings calorie, fat, and carb counter.. I will not eat anything unless I know the nutritional content of it. It helps me to stay on track..

Louie 05-03-2005 11:35 AM

Good Morning PICs !!

Not sure why I am up so early on my holidays, although I find sleeping in near impossible. Oh well, I will have to have an afternoon nap :dz:

I am pretty happy this morning. I wrote 2 final exams a week and a half ago and my marks were finally posted this morning... and I passed both classes.. phew. :D I am on a pretty tight school timeline, so failing was not an option. So another week off and then back to the books.

PETRA ~ Welcome Aboard. You have found a great bunch of ladies to chat with and share good and bad times.

MOMX3 ~ congrats on making it through your first week. :cp: Keep up the good work and it will pay off on the scale.

LOOKING2LOSE ~ journaling is a very powerful tool, as long as you write everything down... if you bite it write it. :cbg: I find that when I start to get off track it is usually because I am not being honest with myself. Even if you gain, at least if you have your journal you will be able to look back and figure out where you went wrong. Good Luck.. you can do this !

DEEROD ~ how's it going girl ? You have such a great attitude and are very motivating... keep with it ! :flow1:

Well, I will check in later. Have a great day and keep on keeping on !!

deerod 05-03-2005 12:37 PM

Hello everyone.. how are you all doing today??

clipclop.. congrats on your exams... I am so proud of you and thanks for all the kind words.. I try to be motivational because I know how hard it is to lose weight when nobody believes in you.. and I believe in ALL of you...

I hope everyones day or night is going well and I cant wait to hear from all of you...

jennie934 05-03-2005 01:33 PM

Hi Ladies,
How are you all doing? Last night I was so hungry and for dinner we had meatloaf, with mac and cheese, and a spinach salad. I didn't each a whole lot of it but I got so crazy full feeling. I havn't had anything quite so heavy in a while so even with the smaller portion, it was to much. Crazy to think how fast your stomach can shrink or what ever.....

anyway, I got up earlly and went to the gym before work. I ussually have a hard time getting my son to school early and getting to the gym but I always want to. It was a good work out, I did 55 min on the treadmill, about 3.75 miles. I'll do pillates tonight at home to. I love pillates, it makes my big fat legs look longer and leaner.

I'm still journaling strong. I think its a really good thing to do its just one of the hardest things to get started.

Hope everyone has a great day and keep up the good work.
Jennie

looking2lose 05-03-2005 02:22 PM

Jennie: I have always wanted to try Pillates at home, but there are so many videos, and its on tv, etc., I am not sure where to start. Any suggestions on a video to try out? (also, I never met anyone that does it either). :spin:

(had to change my meter...that big number down to that little number was sort of stressing me out) :(

kclay61 05-03-2005 03:32 PM

Momx3 - why do you wait so long to weigh in? My dr. told me to weigh once a week bcs that is your true weight - she also told me to weigh, during the middle of the week to see if I need to "tweek" my eating habit(s) - Just wondering, don't mean to be nosey

momX3 05-03-2005 04:37 PM

kclay - you can ask whatever you want. I am an open book . Actually the reason I am trying to weigh once a month is because I am doing curves which also focuses on inches. I'm scared that if I weigh I may not have lost weight but I may have lost inches and I don't want to discourage myself if I don't see a loss on the scale. Does that make sense ?

kclay61 05-03-2005 05:17 PM

OK yeah that makes sense - You're stronger than I am - I can't stand to not weigh once a week ;)

momX3 05-03-2005 06:07 PM

kclay - Curves only weighs and measures once a month so I 1) have to wait  2) can weigh myself at home which I don't want to do because it is a different scale and I won't get true results or 3) weigh myself at curves which may happen because I am weak and driving myself crazy .

petra65 05-03-2005 08:27 PM

My goodness ladies, I weigh myself every day whether I should or not. You just have to learn not to let it determine how you are going to feel for the whole day. Looking2lose, the journaling thing is a great idea. You will be amazed at what you have been eating. I started journalling today too but for a different reason. I started this low carb thing almost exactly 2 months ago today and have lost only 7 lbs so far. I have been an absolute angel on this diet--not one cookie, or piece of chocolate, or donut (and you can't imagine how many of those things are floating around my office) in the past 2 months and I have only lost 7 lbs. I actually had my thyroid checked last week because I thought something must be wrong. So now I am writing everything down because if I don't start losing soon, I'm making an appointment to see the doctor to find out what is going on here. My little ketostix are turning purple so those pounds should be coming off.

MoonRay 05-03-2005 09:15 PM

New here

Can I call this my home too? ;) I think I may be the heviest here, but I'm willing to commit to loosing some of this weight!! The doctor hasn't put me on any plan yet he wants to get the Thyroid thing undercontrol first but I don't want to wait untill he puts me on a diet I need to get my self healthy

name: MoonRay
location: California
age:26
sex: female
marital status: single
highest weight: 350
current weight (last weigh in): 350
goal weight: 200
current clothing size: 30-32
goal clothing size: I have no idea
kids: 0
pets: 0
diet(currently on or planning to start): South Beach maybe but mainly just eating right

ashavison 05-03-2005 09:38 PM

Good evening everyone! So tomorrow is my weigh in day and I'm bummed, because I haven't started an exercise plan yet and I really need to.
What is everyone else doing. How often, how long?

Would anyone want to be a workout buddy?!
I have been journalling for the last two weeks, and I can really tell that my portion sizes have changed since I had to write it down.

Welcome Moonray, congrats on your exams ClipClop!

momX3 05-03-2005 09:40 PM

Hey Moonray - Of course you are welcome . We would love to have you with us. You will meet alot of wonderful ladies willing to help here :D.

Where do you live in California? I'm in Sacramento.

momX3 05-03-2005 09:48 PM

Ashavision - Good luck on the weigh-in :goodscale.

I am doing curves 3 days a week and the treadmill 3 days a week. I don't really care what I do as long as I do something. When I have been at it awhile I will probably add tae-bo. I used to do it all the time. Also I am a black belt although I have not practiced in about 5 years  so it's fun to stretch the old muscles.

You can do whatever you are comfortable with and if you want we can be accountable to each other. I never want to feel like I let someone else down so this will make sure I get busy.

momX3 05-03-2005 09:51 PM

Clipclop - Congrats on passing your classes :bravo:. That must be a huge weight off your shoulders :cp:. Keep up the good work girl!!!!

smilesarepriceless 05-03-2005 11:06 PM

Hi! I have just read every single post in this thread and am glad i found you guys from the original 130 thread....

I get the feeling you are a great group. I have so much personal junk going on ( getting ready to be away from my husband for one year, living with my parents for the year he is gone ( WHAT AM I DOING ---lol) and struggling to lose..
I have determined i'm gonna make these 12 months FOR ME --- and focus ON ME 100% so i can be the best mom with more energy!
I need help and support though..and although my mom is here to encourage and support me, i have to admit anytime she makes ANY comment on my food choice, or suggestion to exercise, it really drives me nuts....

Louie 05-03-2005 11:16 PM

Good Evening PICs ! Just thought I would check in quickly before I sit down to watch American Idol and Amazing Race... I am a reality TV junkie !! Good mindless TV after a day at work and school :D

Thanks to you all for your congratulations on my exams. School starts again on Tuesday, so I need to get on track quickly with my eating so that I can plan properly for being back to school 2 nights a week.

JENNIE ~ Great job at getting to the gym before work !! :cheer:

PETRA ~ stick with it girl !! Journaling will definately point to anything that may be getting you off track. Hopefully it is nothing more than that :crossed:

MOONRAY ~ Welcome !! We all have a long journey ahead of us and are here to provide support and encouragement. Join in on the conversations, look for help when you need it, and most importantly have fun !! :goodluck:

ASHAVISON ~ Exercise will come. You should be happy that you are following a good eating plan, and then everything else will start to fall into place. I know for me that exercise is really important, if I am not watching what I am eating and not exercising then I am in real trouble. Right now my exercise of choice is walking. Keep at it and you can be accountable to all of us.. we will help to keep you on track ! :tread:

MOMX3 ~ thanks for the congrats !! Sounds like you are keeping very busy in the exercise department.. good for you !! :cb:

Well time for me to say goodnight to my lovely PICs.. take care and keep on keeping on !

looking2lose 05-04-2005 10:09 AM

Good Morning all! I've got a few minutes before I need to get back to work..

SMILES & MOON: WELCOME!! :grouphug: I have never in my life met a group of gals as welcoming, inspiring, and supportive as I have here (where I call home). Especially to finally find a forum such as this where I feel so incredibly comfortable here, and am learning that I am not alone.

Gotta vent: I work in a cubefarm full of string-beans eating broccoli and jogging up & down the 20+ flights of stairs for fun 3 times a day and then say 'you should really join us, it would do you some good.' I think to myself...uh, no thank you, I would prefer not to have a heart attack today!

Thank you for all the support my fellow PICs, with journaling and all of your input. It was worth it. I looked at what I ate and I almost fainted..whoa....I should have saved my writing hand and just ate a loaf of bread!! (pretty much lived on carbs yesterday). I think I will make a mobile for my cubicle of fruits and vegetables and see if it works like subliminal messaging.

sounds like some pretty positive things are coming all of our ways, and I am so very happy that all of our paths met. Well, now that I have written a small novel, back to work (and my giant water that is staring me down ;)

Have a WONDERFUL day everyone!!

jennie934 05-04-2005 10:57 AM

Hi Ladies,
How is everyones day. I got up today and did my Pilates tape. I hope to get to the gym later. Looking2lose, I have heard that the Windsor Pilates are the best. When you buy them, you get 2 or three tapes and it has good beining/intermediat/advanced options. I didn't have enough fot them so I got the MTV pilates, it seems good but its only one option on there which is 45 minutes so I just have to have that much time. Its good though, I like it. Some times I do the ones on my digital cable, they are 20 min.

MomX3, I could never weigh in once a month, i am so addicted to my scale I weigh petty much every morning. I know I need to cut down but that would just take to much will power to wait. I do think its good though becaus ethen you see biggger results.

Ashavisiion, how was the WI?

Heather and MOONRAY, welcome!

Clip Clop, gotta love the reality TV. I am hooked on the realworld/roadrules challange, I feel like I'm to old to be watching it but there is just so much drama, I love it.

Hope eveyone else is haveing a good day.
KIT

Jennie

Louie 05-04-2005 11:13 AM

Good Morning PIC !!
Well I am up and at it early again today. One of these days maybe I will sleep in... NOT.. after 8 hours in bed, parts of me just don't move like they are suppose to ;)

Well today is the day that I must go look for some clothes. The weather here is starting to get a little to warm for slacks and sweaters, and it seems that all of the spring/summer clothes have shrunk... man I hate that !

I do not like shopping at the best of times; however, when I have to buy a size that makes me cringe I like it even less. Oh well it must be done, so I will suck it up and go see what I can find.

SMILESAREPRICELSS ~ Glad that you found us ! Sounds like you have a great plan set for yourself for the next 12 months. Just imagine the look on your husband's face when he sees you... VAVAVAVOOM !!! :spin: Lean on us as much as you like, you have found a great place for support.

LOOKING2LOSE ~ you have got me laughing this morning  Sounds like we work in similar offices. Let me know how the mobile works out.. I can just imagine the look on your co-workers faces..LOL

Well, I am off to start the day. I will check in later and let you all know how my adventures at the mall went *ARGGG*. Until then keep on keeping on !!

deerod 05-04-2005 01:06 PM

:dizzy: Hello my PIC angels.. how is everyone doing today? I'm doing good.. a little worried, because I'm going to meet some friends for lunch and the place they chose to go to does not have a nutritional guide.. I called the resteraunts corporate office, but they only could suggest to send a portion of my food to a lab. :?: .. well maybe I can just get a salad.. we are going to a seafood place called Sea Island... I would suggest to go somewhere else, but I havent seen my friends in months and they are really anxious to go there.. so hopefully I wont go over on my totals today.. and I'm sooo hungry, I was running late to work this morning, so i skipped breakfast.. today is not going to be a good day :( ..

well enough about me

kclay61: I'm trying to weigh myself only once a month because if I weigh myself everyday and If it were to show a gain of .5 of a pound I would loose hope and give up.. even though I know certain times of the month can affect the outcome.. I'm weak.. and if I loose 5 lbs, i'm like.. wooo hoo.. i can eat dessert today.. I know.. i'm crazy :dizzy:

petra65: I use to do low-carb and I lost a lot of weight the first time I did it.. but when I tried to get back to it, I never got the same outcome.. It turns out I was getting too many carbs in my vegetable.. and nuts... I'm a big veggie and fruit person so I had to give low-carb up..

Moonray: welcome.. glad to have you here..

ashavison: how did the weigh in go?? I work out every other night and walk at least a mile 6 days a week.. I'm also doing low calorie/ low fat diet.. that way I can still eat something bad but just part of it as long as I dont go over my limit..

smilesarepriceless: welcome.. congrats on your baby.. and I'm sorry to hear you are going to be without your hubby for a year... thats soo sad, but you can give him a huge suprise when he gets back.. i saw this one show were a girl hadnt seen her man in about a year (military as well) and while he was gone she lost like 100 lbs.. and it was such a pretty reunion...

looking2lose: you are soo funny...

jennie934: good job on doing your pilates this morning.. I would love to be able to wake up early and get some excersize in... but.. i AM NOT a morning person..

clipclop: have fun shopping.. but just think that in a couple of months you're gonna look at the clothes you bought today and be like.. ha ha.. these fall right off of me..

momX3 05-04-2005 01:09 PM

I am also a big reality fan. My husband HATES them and will not watch them with me but I can't miss them. I don't watch american idol though. My favorite is Big Brother and I loved Paradise Hotel I wish they would do it again.

Jennie - Good for you on the pilates this morning :cp:. It's not will power that stops me from weighing myself it's fear :fr:. I'm so scared to step on the scale and find out I weigh the same or worse more. I have been working so hard it may break me .

looking2lose - at my job we call your "string beans" the
"skinny bi:censored:h's and I want to be one of them in the worst way :^:.

smilesarepriceless - Sorry about your husband leaving :(. That must be hard on both of you especially with the baby being so young. I have a 20 month old daughter and she is also my motivation. I want to be able to play with her on the floor and still breathe at the same time :dizzy:.

Take care my friends and have a GREAT DAY!!!

kclay61 05-04-2005 01:33 PM

Hello everyone  Today is a, um, I guess, a fair day. It really hasn't started for me, yet. I'm fixing to get in my car, go p/u the girls from school, then get on the Interstate and travel an hour to my son's apt. Pick him up and, God knows what, from there.

As for reality shows - I only watch two of them - American Idol and, this year, The Bachelor(and that's only because of the bachelor himself). Other than those two I don't care. And, in all honesty, the reality theme is getting a little rediculous.

I prefer real crime type shows - CSI, Crossing Jordon, Without A Trace, oh, and HOUSE, it's a medical show - there are very few sitcoms out that I like, anymore - I do watch JOEY and Will & Grace, but not all the time. I guess I'm a prude, when it comes to TV. ;)

As for exercise - HA - what's that? I do walk, but not everyday, like I should. In order for me to walk, I have to get in the car and drive to a walking spot. Which is the dam. They have a special place to walk - and it's lovely - but I just hate having to drive in order to get there. (i know, excuses, excuses)
